The remains of daylight drowned in the thick clouds of sunset, pouring softly over the valley below. Skyscrapers refracted swords of orange light spears as sundown graced the sprawling landscape of Solace City. The simulacrum rose from his perch atop a service tower, arms dangling from his wiry body. Sunlight dripped off his lithe frame as the stared into the distance.
Locked in his vision was the head of the Hammond Robotics conglomerate nestled within it's fortress of metal and glass; Syndicate Tower. They controlled nearly the entire Frontier now, a thought that danced on his nerves. Planets, cities, people-everything was their property and it disgusted him.
A soft groan escaped him as he slinked towards the edge of the building roof. Looking down, what was once a risky feat no longer phased him. Death was not a threat anymore and Revenant had long since shed his skin suit.
Without a shroud of doubt he flung himself off the building top and hurled towards a neighboring skyscraper, claws bared and screeching as they dug into the glass. He let gravity take him down, nails howling as shards of glass exploded into splinters through his barrage. He threw himself towards another building, clawing and growling as he made his fall. By the time he reached the ground he'd left quite the impression on the glittering city.
Just like they'd once done to him.
The concrete below his feet was cold and damp, the smell of rain scented the air. Dark clouds brewed under a sky of fire as he made his way into a network of maintenance tunnels below the city. He wasn't going to wait around for the authorities to find him.
He padded silently through the empty maze, thinking of the three massacred guards he'd left behind as bait on Talos. They'd be busy cleaning up his mess right now. He mused at the thought. Another two hundred names to sort through and he'd accomplish his goal of making a dent in Hammond's precious image.
Not that it would ever fully matter, though.
"Security breach in Sector 4! I repeat- there's been a brea-"
"Unit 22, copy. What's your visual?"
/STATIC/
"Unit 13, requesting status. Over."
/STATIC/
"Come in Unit 13. I repeat, Unit 13, requesting confirmat-"
"..Shut your mouth."
/STATIC/
"Unit 13- status report req-"
"..I SAID SHUT UP!"
/GUNSHOTS/
"What the hell is that!?"
"...Death."
/STATIC/
/SCREAMING, INAUDIBLE CRACKLING/
"This is Unit 22, requesting visual on Sector 4. All available units report to security breach immediately."
/INDISTINCT SCREAMS/
"WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT? WHY WON'T IT DIE!?"
"Don't you listen?"
/RAPID GUNFIRE/
*laughing*
The screams ceased as a flick of the assailant's arm painted blood across the wall. Three armed bodies fell to the floor in a pool of their own misery. Metal claws retracted into their gloved hands as a fourth security officer aimed down sights on the attacker. Pitiful. Dodging a barrage of bullets, the simulacrum bolted to escape. This hit did not go as planned. At least he had some fun to make up for the lack of information obtained.
Amber optics split through the dimly lit halls of the Hammond facility as he sailed through a glass window, tumbling into another ward. Various machines fitted with surgical instruments filled the cold space, an unwelcome memoir. They'd all pay properly soon enough.
He'd gotten away relatively unscathed last night. With dawn on the horizon and an endless Frontier ahead, there was nothing stopping him from disappearing once more.
Hoisting himself up through an unattended manhole cover, nightfall had set over the city. Taking in his surroundings he found himself at the edge of a suburban area. He lifted his arm, fingers tapping at an illuminated screen and bringing up a map.
"Fourteen clicks west and four blocks east. Arsenault residence."
Tonight's first kill, confirmed. Perfect.
