I know, I know Primeval finished years ago! However, it was one of my favourites when I was younger. I was only about 11/12 when this series came out and I fell in love with it, it was something me and my dad used to watch together, we like dinosaurs and nerdy stuff, it's what we bond over. When the series finished he brought me the DVD box set for my birthday and I have to admit I have re-watched the whole series about 500 times and I love it just as much as I did back then. I absolutely fell in love with the characters; Captain Becker and Jessica Parker and I really wish that they had gotten them together before it finished. It is one of those things we all want to know, did they ever get together?!

Starting Again: Chapter 1: Just Another Day

At the very tender age of 16 years old, I gave birth to my gorgeous son, Aiden. A few months after Aiden was born, things went very wrong with his father, Jack. In the end Jack walked away from both myself and Aiden and I was literally left holding the baby. I struggled so much because I was only 16 and Jack had promised me the world. My parents were never that interested in Aiden and we fought so much because they thought that I had ruined my life and when Aiden was only 6 months old, they told me leave. They said their children were now nearly grown up and they didn't want a baby in the house again, I was heartbroken but I agreed to move out. I became a teenage single mother with no family and homeless within less than a year. However, the whole experience made me strong and I wouldn't change it for the world.

Now, I am 24 years old and Aiden is 8 years old and he is such a good kid, I really can't fault him for anything. Myself and Aiden are a lot alike, we are both into computers and he loves helping me take things apart and fix them then put than back together. He is a little shy around new people and he is content in his own company, he found it really hard to make friends when he started school and I was beginning to worry he wouldn't make friends but thankfully, he made friends with a couple kids and he sat with them at lunch.

When it was just myself and Aiden we got into a good routine but then I started at the ARC and quite literally everything changed for the both of us. Everyone at the ARC are than just friends to us, they have become our family and are actually more involved with Aiden then my actual family. They have all helped me out with Aiden and being around them has helped Aiden come out of his shell and I cannot thank them enough for that, they have really been so great to us.

Connor has really helped me out by babysitting Aiden if I have to work late or have a meeting with Lester. Connor likes to take Rex out when he is babysitting and Aiden absolutely loves Rex, he's been asking if we can get a 'Rex' of our own.

Lester is also known to look after Aiden if the occasion calls for it. Although, Lester will never admit it, he adores Aiden and for some reason Aiden loves Lester. They make a funny little pairing but Lester is the closest thing Aiden has to a granddad... just don't tell Lester that.

Becker, now he is Aiden's best friend in the whole entire world. On weekends when I have had to come into work, Becker is normally the one to take care of Aiden for me. He will take Aiden around the ARC and let him boss the soldiers around and lets him look at the weapons. He won't let Aiden touch them but he will let him see them and he has showed them how they work, he thinks I don't know that but I do... when it comes to my son I know everything. Aiden thinks that being a soldier is the best job in the world and has decided that he wants to be a soldier when he grows up.

If being a soldier is what Aiden wants to do and what makes him happy, than I will of course do everything I can to help him. Although, I am praying that this is just a phase that he will come out of, but sadly I can't see that happening. He loves the idea of being a real life action man too much. I would rather Aiden be a librarian or something that will keep him safe but all mothers want that.

I really do appreciate my new family.

Any woman that ends up with Becker is going to be one very lucky woman because he is really a good man, one of the best men I have ever met actually; he will make an amazing father and husband to someone one day. I know he sometimes doesn't think that he deserves a 'happy ever after' but I really do hope that he changes his mind and finds a woman who is worthy. He needs a nice woman who will take care of him after a rough day at work and he needs to have a woman that really understands him, understands his military past. Whoever he chooses has some very high expectations to live up to and I will be there to make sure that she meets the criteria.

I can't say that I won't be jealous when he does finally meet someone, I will be happy for him but I will be jealous. It is no secret that I have the world's biggest crush on Becker and I think... I know that he doesn't return those feelings and that's ok, I can't say I blame him.

I got pregnant at 16 years old, the father isn't around and I don't have a family... apart from my brother that I speak to a few times a year. I doesn't exactly shed me in the best light. Could you imagine bringing me home to meet your parents? I'm sure there would be a lot of opinions and terrible thoughts of me. When I first got pregnant, I will still in high school and life really did become hard, my own friends were calling me a slut and people started thinking that I was easy and it wasn't like that at all. Myself and Jack were in a serious relationship, we had been together for over a year before we even slept together and I really did love him. Do you know, I have never had sex with anyone else? Jack is the only man that I have been with sexually.

The last time Jack to see Aiden, Aiden was only 18 months old and Jack called asking to see his son and I stupidly agreed and gave him my address. How showed up drunk a couple hours later and he started rambling on about us becoming a family again and making things work. I had fallen out of love with Jack a long time by then so I told him to leave and I asked him if he still wanted to be a father to Aiden but he said he wasn't interested. I tried to force him to leave and things to a really big turn for the worst, in his drunken state Jack beat me up and Aiden witnessed the whole thing, as he was so young he doesn't remember it for which I'm thankful but I still feel guilty he was there at the time.

It was after that night that I decided to move away from my hometown and come to London. I finished my education here and then I got the job at the ARC but let me tell you, it was tough to get it all done on my own but Aiden was and still is such a good kid, he would let me do my homework and he would be on his best behaviour when he saw me with school books. I couldn't fault him. I do feel bad that Aiden didn't have a father to spend time with whilst I was busy with school work because I had both parents there for me as a child, I had an amazing childhood, I wanted that for Aiden too.

I am hoping that one day I will meet a man that falls in love with me as well as Aiden, I hope for someone that will sweep me off my feet and be a good husband to me but also a good father figure to Aiden. I need someone that can accept the fact that I am a mother and be able to understand my job, sadly, there are not too many guys out there like that and I don't seem to have the best luck in the world with men... or life in general.

I turned over in my bed to look at the clock, Aiden will be coming in any second like he does every morning. As if on cue, I heard his bedroom door open and the sound of his feet coming towards my room. I sat up in bed and the Aiden peaked his head around the ajar door with a big grin on his face.

"Morning mum," He beamed.

"Good morning Aiden," I greeted.

Aiden came and jumped onto my bed and gave me a cuddle, like he does every morning. I cuddled him back and he sat next to me.

"Can I go to work with you today?" He asked.

"Not today sweetie, you have school today," I told him.

"But I wanna play solider with Becker," HE sighed and started pouting.

"I'll make you a deal," I started and he perked up "Tomorrow is Saturday which means you don't have school. I will speak to Becker today and find out if he's working tomorrow or not, if he is working and isn't too busy I'll bring you in but no promises," I explained to him.

"Thank you mum, you're the best!" He exclaimed happily and jumped off the bed "Can we have breakfast now?" He asked.

"Of course." I replied and got out of bed with a yawn.

After promising Aiden that I would speak to Becker about seeing him tomorrow, he did everything I asked him to do and when I asked him to do it, there were no arguments this morning. Normally I have to fight with him about brushing his teeth and putting his shoes on but he did everything himself, I didn't even have to ask him to find his shoes, he just went and done it... he must really want to see Becker tomorrow.

I dropped Aiden off at school without incident and even got a kiss as he got out of the car. He has become to cool for me lately and won't kiss me in public anymore, I'm quite surprised I got one this morning. I smiled as I watched him meet his friends at the gate and walk into school before driving off towards work to really get my day started.

When I did get to work I went straight to the ADD and took over from the night shift before logging on and then did what I do every morning; I checked my e-mails both work and personal. I had a few from Lester requesting that I cancel some of his appointments. Did he think I was his PA or something? You know, he does actually have someone to do things like this for him and definitely wasn't me. Before I got too engrossed in my own things to do, I did as he asked and made a mental note to speak to Lester about doing things for himself, like appointments with his own wife!

"Good morning Jessica," I heard an all too familiar voice say behind me, I turned around in my chair and saw Becker standing there with his arms crossed over his chest and a small but noticeable smile on his lips.

"Good morning," I greeted.

"How was your evening yesterday?" He asked.

"It was stressful. I was helping Aiden with a project for school... it was draining," I told him.

"How is Aiden?" He asked genuinely.

"He's good," I replied "Actually, I promised him I would speak to you today. He has been driving me crazy about coming here to see you. Are you working tomorrow at all?" I asked.

"Yeah, I'm here all day tomorrow. Just come by whenever," He replied.

"Are you sure? You're not too busy or anything?" I questioned.

"Honestly, it's fine. Just come by whenever you want," He told me.

"You are a life saver!" I exclaimed "He has been driving me insane," I stated and smiled brightly at him.

"Does he still want to be a solider?" He asked.

"Of course he does, thank you for that by the way," I replied jokingly sarcastic. We smiled at each other "You know, I was hoping he would become a librarian or a teacher… something safe. I can guess how your mother feels about you and your job," I explained.

"Does this make up for it a little bit?" He asked and pulled out a bar of Salted Caramel chocolate from his pocket, putting it on the desk in front of me.

"A little," I said with a smile.

"I'm glad. Look, I have to go but I'll see you at lunch." He promised before turning his back and walking away towards the elevator.

How amazing is Becker? He could have easily said that he was too busy to see Aiden or made up some other excuse but he said to bring him over and he brought me a bar of chocolate. He is one of the sweetest people I have ever met in my whole life. I really hope he finds a nice girl one day to make him happy, it's no question that he would make someone very happy, he literally is the whole package.

I was brought out of my thoughts and thrown into the deep end when the alarms started blaring and the red alert lights beaming around me. My fingers started dancing instinctively around the keys at the same time I was looking at the screens in front of me to gather up all the information I could get.

"Ok guys, we have an anomaly in sector two-nine. Co-ordinates are being send to your cars as well as your black boxes. The area is low population, your ETA during current traffic and route is seventeen minutes. I'm getting CCTV information through now," I explained over the comms device.

"Thanks Jess, keep us up to date." Becker replied.
