KKD: Well, this is the third year for Pikatwig's Kamen Rider Hero, the third decade for Fire Emblem, and my 28th birthday. Pretty crazy all things considered. Hope you're all enjoying these so far, and I'm hoping to get more of this story posted when I can. I'm still working through the side story for a potential side plot, but we'll see how that goes.

In a void filled with clocks of varying sizes, Cabal was now dressed in a dark brown cloak with a long black scarf appeared, opening up the book from before.
"According to this book, under the Great Tree Moon, the month of April, in Imperial Year 1180, the young mercenary known as the Ashen Demon, Ryuko Eisner, has a future where she becomes the overlord and ruler of time and Fodlan itself, Ohma Zi-O. Like with her predecessor, Tokiwa Sougo, who ultimately erased the powers from his world to prevent such a future, she accepted the powers, but was encouraged to do so in order to start the path to unify the continent of Fodlan. On that night when she obtained the powers of Kamen Rider Zi-O that she accepted, she and her brother, Byleth Eisner as Kamen Rider Geiz, rescued three students, Edelgard von Hresvelg of the Adrestian Empire, Dimitri Alexandre Blaiddyd from the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus, and Claude von Riegan of the Leicester Alliance, by defeating Kaijin Rider Kamui," Cabal narrated as Woz as images of the previous chapter showed how things unfolded, before a small preview of the next chapter was seen, "Then, after encountering students at Garegg Mach Monastery, she discovers the Crests that grant powers, learning they are potentially gifts and curse that grants one the ability to become an Emblem Rider. Oh!"
Woz cheekily smiled as he suddenly shut his book.
"Perhaps I've read too far ahead. It's not my place to spoil too much," he grinned, leaving for the portal that was the Outrealm gate.

Morning
On their travel towards the monastery, Ryuko and Byleth kept close for a bit as their father caught up with some of the knights, and even getting to know the newcomers. Ryuko seemed neutral to this at first until Byleth got her attention.
"Did Cabal explain anything about what he gave us beyond the fact that they belonged to his former leader?" Byleth asked.
"No. He didn't. All he said was-" she started before recalling what Cabal said when revealing himself as Woz, "Should I really tell him? I know Woz said only the two of us and his friend from the Outrealms know of this secret, but… Byleth is still my brother."
"Nevermind. I know you don't talk much. So if you wish to remain quiet, I understand," Byleth assured, letting Ryuko sigh with relief.
In the back, Cabal smiled as he watched Ryuko walk on, the girl soon talking with the future leaders of the three nations of Fodlan.
"So calm. And yet she needs to get more in touch with her emotions to unify the country," he noted, "The Outrealm Hero should hopefully get things under control. But I wonder… who got the Kaijin Ridewatches to begin with?"
Arundel
Morning
At that moment, the town near the monastery bordering Faerghus and the Empire was bustling as always. Citizens were going about their daily business running errands, delivering items, etc. Focus then shifted to a man with blue hair in a short cut, wearing what appeared to be gold and teal robes that indicated some sort of record keeper role, reading through a peculiar book while writing down something on another piece of paper. He sighed to himself as he looked up from his reading and writing, witnessing students in various uniforms with the same blacks, whites, and golds, the specific articles all varying in some fashion, yet only hair colors, styles, and faces telling them apart. The observing bluenette sighed as he sipped a cup of tea, eyes closed.
"With the Outrealms influencing adjacent realms, ours appears to finally be feeling the ripple effects. Nations not previously seen in Fodlan appear to have formed centuries ago, and mysterious powers are revealed. And yet… it is all as foretold," he muttered, sighing as he looked behind him, "What are your views on this?"
Nearby, a woman with green hair sipped her own cup of tea, eyes staring at the man, adjusting her dark blue dress and silvery white fur boa looked to him.
"You know very well that our mission is to ensure the safety of our homes... and the remaining Outrealms," she stated, "All that matters is that we save them."
"Don't worry about it. I know what's about to come, having seen all the outcomes. Trust me," he assured with a friendly smile.

Kamen Rider Zi-O
With a continent divided, the Heisei Emblem Riders passed through this Era. It's time to pass this power down to a unified future. Rejoice at the birth of the new ruler!
Oh yeah~. Oh~! *As the narration proceeded, we see a field where the 24 Fire Emblem Riders were frozen in combat, Claude, Dimitri and Edelgard looking in confusion and shock, each soon seeing Kamen Riders Zi-O and Geiz before shots of time rewinding were seen as Zi-O's visor slapped into place, the camera then focused on Ryuko in Garegg Mach Monastery*
Isshun de tsukamitoru no sa (Catch it in an instant!) Are you ready? (Are you lazy?) *Ryuko reached for the clock as she saw Sothis, only to flip her hand down, the greenette smiling as the mortal girl walked off, her environment spinning around her*
Atarashī rekishi wa soko ni (That's where the new history is!) Feel it! Feel it!
(Crazy baby!) *Byleth was seen talking to his fellow mercenaries before looking toward the monastery, walking towards it with a flick of his own arm, equally making his environment spin like around his sister, before Edelgard, Dimitri, and Claude were seen walking right, left, and towards the screen, the screen also rotating like the Eisner twins'*
Hikari wo kate ni kasokushite (Use your bonds of light to accelerate) *A double shot of the past and present showed the battle between Nemesis and Seiros in 91 while also showing a torn cloak flying past the statue of Ryuko in the year 1200, the cloak landing on the ground as the black and gold foot of Ohma Zi-O stepped in*
Konomama (Just keep at it!) Shout it out! Shout it out! *Ohma Zi-O's helmet could be seen with a flash of the visor as both past (91) and future (1200) were seen on either side of it, before a shot of Ryuko, Byleth, Edelgard, Dimitri and Claude was shown as they looked at a collection of Ridewatches before looking up in shock at something above them*
Ima wo susume yō (Let's keep going in the present) *Woz is then seen walking through an Outrealm portal with his book in tow, as he shifts from his normal appearance to that of Cabal*
Madō hi mo Ikudo tonaku, Asu no tobira tatake (There will be confusing days, but knock on the door to tomorrow) *A shot of a dark scene showed four figures who flashed between a more normal appearance and one where they had pale skin and dark clothes, all with their backs to the viewer as one similar figure, who flashed between a normal person in a uniform similar to Dimitri and Claude, to one more menacing look with lightning blue hair, moving with afterimages while grinning before zipping away. This was followed by a shot from a book describing events that would happen in the story, a shot revealing Woz/Cabal was observing these events with a couple figures in shadow, as the book also revealed the tyranny of Ohma Zi-O, before a quick shot of the Ridewatches activating was seen*
Mitsumeta sono saki ni Tobikonde mitara (Just plunge into what's ahead of you!) Believe Yourself! *With a shot of the statue from the future crumbling, it's intercut with a shot of Byleth activating his Geiz Ridewatch before another angle of the statue was seen, the stone crumbling to show the Emblem Riders underneath. Ryuko's seen activating her Zi-O Ridewatch as the central figure of the 1200 statue cracks and shines a pink light before crumbling around Ohma Zi-O, whose eyes continued to glow the same bright red. This is ended with a shot of Ryuko mouthing "Henshin" as she prepared to transform.*
Now, Over "Quartzer" *Ryuko spun her Ziku Driver as she quickly transformed into Zi-O*
Toki no ame Surinukete Tomo ni (Let's slip through the torrents of time together) *Zi-O and Geiz charged on their mounts as a shot of a clock damaged in Garegg Mach was shown with figures walking away while showing three silhouettes of battle-worn figures, all before Geiz and Zi-O zipped across the field with the frozen Emblem Riders, time suddenly resuming as the 24 Emblem Riders concluded their finishing attacks*
You, Over "Quartzer" *Zi-O then rode out of the flames in an epic fashion*
Mirai wo koe yō (Let's cross over to the future) *Zi-O was seen in some kind of Golem, piloting it to attack a Demonic Beast as the spinning shots of Ryuko, Byleth, Edelgard, Dimitri, and Claude stopped spinning, each being looking to the reader before another shot of the three nobles were seen alongside Zi-O and Geiz*
Kako no ishi wa Uso de wa azamuke nai (Lies can not fool the will of the past) *Each of the five unknowingly followed a series of afterimage Crests as if fate told them to follow, which they did.*
Kanjiro sō Nexus Future (Feel it in your bones! The Nexus Future) *Edelgard, Dimitri, and Claude stared each other down as if to spar, unknowing of the five pale figures in black before glitches made the five vanish, the three nobles glitched briefly into older, more tortured forms*
Now, Over "Quartzer" *Zi-O and Geiz both finished off some monsters/bandits using their respective weapons*
Mabayui sekai (That dazzling world...) *The Riders of the story leaped up and kicked down at the screen before the titles and logos of the aforementioned Fire Emblem and Kamen Rider shows flashed and merged into the show's current title*

Three Houses, One Nation
Part 1: White Clouds
Great Tree Moon
Chapter 1: Three Houses
The icy winds of the Oghma Mountains have begun to scatter, and the verdant fields once again spring to life across Fódlan, heralding the start of a new year. As they celebrate the dawning year, the people pray that they may realize their full potential, just as a tiny sprout hopes to one day grow into a great tree.
The continent of Fódlan, said to be protected by a revered goddess, has existed since time immemorial. Three ruling powers now control the land. In the south lies a region long held by a more than one-thousand-year-old dynasty–the Adrestian Empire. Beyond its borders, to the frigid north, is the home of the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus, ruled by the royal family and its knights. To the east, a league of nobles that heeds no king or emperor rules what is called the Leicester Alliance. Once consumed by a tempest of war and turmoil, Fódlan and these three mighty powers now exist in relative harmony.
Forest Path
Daytime
After a long trek through the night, the large group walked through a green forest in sunlight, having been many hours since they had departed from Remire Village. The Knights of Seiros walked with Jeralt, mingling with him to hear what he's done since he was last with the knights, with Byleth, Ryuko, and Cabal walking behind with Dimitri, Claude and Edelgard. Ryuko mentally studied each of the students as Byleth looked confused at first.
"Cabal, are you sure it's wise to walk with us? It's a bit awkward at the moment," Byleth noted.
"It's best to understand who you'll be cooperating with," Cabal admitted, opening his book, "I can tell that we will be siding with someone in the near future."
As he said this, he made note of a subtle red and silver glow from the book that no one else saw. Byleth just shrugged at this as Ryuko tried to hide a blush from the princess.
"So… I must admit, I know little of Garegg Mach. My father, brother, and I were constantly on the move and he had little time to mention such things," Ryuko noted, garnering the attention of the male students.
"Which means this will be your first time at the monastery, I presume," Dimitri deduced, earning a nod from the female Eisner twin, "I'd be happy to show you all around."
"How most generous of you, Prince Dimitri," Cabal replied, briefly noticing the glow from the book go in flux from red to silver, to blue, and even golden yellow as he seemed to await what it would stay on.
"Based on it being neutral territory between all three nations, it makes me wonder what the atmosphere is like," Byleth pondered.
"It really is Fodlan in a nutshell. The good and the bad," Claude shrugged off with a laidback grin and closed eyes, gaze returning to the road as the group walked.
"Intriguing. It's a shame we can't bear witness to much else of Fodlan in the meantime," Byleth shrugged.
"I did prefer exploring the continent, admittedly," Ryuko added.
"Like it or not, we'll be there soon enough," Edelgard interrupted, Ryuko looking to the princess with a smile and a light blush before everyone's gazes turned to the end of their path.
From the view of the traveling mercenaries and students, the trees parted to reveal a grand collection of buildings on top of a hill. This collection of buildings resembled a massive castle/church surrounded by forts and massive walls reaching a large portion of the nearby mountain range. It also appeared high enough to be seen in all of Fodlan within a good range of 100 miles.
"There it is. Garreg Mach monastery," Edelgard informed, those unfamiliar with it looking amazed by the sight before them.
Inside the massive structure of a monastery, one could find a massive tomb restricted to most, and there was a massive cathedral with various room dedicated to treasure, but the rest acted as a school/training facility of sorts. Students trained in magic and studying various arts as staff went about their various duties.
The travelers soon entered one large open plaza as the Eisner trio stopped, Jeralt looking up towards something above them.
"Hmm?" Ryuko uttered in confusion.
"What is it, Father?" Byleth inquired.
"Rhea's here," the elder mercenary informed as the twins looked up to see a woman on top of a balcony, with green hair and dressed in elaborate robes, complete with a golden headdress as she looked down at Jeralt, Byleth, and Ryuko.
"I wonder... did the flow of time bring you here?" She thought out loud to herself.
Audience Chamber
Daytime
In this room on the second level of the monastery, the Eisner trio stepped in, stopping in the middle of the room with the twins seeing their father had a contemplative look on his face. It didn't seem like he was very thrilled, either.
"Is… something wrong?" Ryuko inquired.
"It's been years since I've last set eyes on this place. To be forced to see her now…" Jeralt recalled and sighed, the twins just further confused.
"Wait… you've been here before, Father?" Byleth asked.
"I've never spoken of this to either of you before, but… many years ago, I was a knight here. I reported to the archbishop… Lady Rhea; the woman you saw in the courtyard earlier if you recall."
"The archbishop? Lady Rhea?" Ryuko muttered, further confused as she tried to wrap her mind around this matter while Cabal stood a distance off, listening in on the conversation.
"As you know, the majority of folks in Fodlan are devout followers of the teachings of Seiros," Jeralt answered in a "matter of fact"/reminding tone, "The leader of that ridiculously large organization is the archbishop, Lady Rhea."
As if on cue, the woman from before, Rhea walked in alongside a man with green hair and a small beard, green eyes, a golden headpiece across his forehead, and donned in a navy blue outfit with golden trim.
"Thank you for your patience, Jeralt," the man greeted, he and Rhea stopping before the three, "My name is Seteth. I am an advisor to the archbishop."
"Right. Hello," Jeralt nodded, turning to the archbishop.
"It has been a long time, Jeralt," Rhea admitted, "I wonder… was it the will of the goddess that we have another chance meeting like this?"
"Forgive my silence all these years. Much has happened since we last spoke."
"So I see. The miracle of fatherhood has blessed you," the archbishop smiled, Cabal looking unsure of her as she eyed the twins, "These are your children, are they not?
"Yes…born many years after I left this place," Jeralt confirmed, "I wish I could introduce you to the mother of my children… but I'm afraid we lost her to illness."
Byleth, while not having known his mother, sighed at this and lowered his head like his father did, though Ryuko was not as phased, keeping a mostly neutral face.
"I see. My condolences," Rhea nodded, paying respects with silence before turning to the twins, "As for you two… I heard of your valiant efforts from Alois. What are your names?"
"My name is... Ryuko," the female twin introduced, "This is my brother, Byleth."
"Greetings," Byleth bowed.
"Ryuko and Byleth. Both are fine names indeed," Rhea smiled, "From the bottom of my heart, I thank you for saving those students of the Officers Academy."
"Hmph," Jeralt uttered.
"Jeralt. You already know what it is I wish to say, do you not?"
"You want me to rejoin the Knights of Seiros, don't you? I won't say no, but…"
A moment of silence let his answer sink in.
"Your apprehension stings. I had expected that Alois would have already asked this of you. I must step away for now, but I expect they will desire a word with you soon. Please listen carefully to what they have to say. Until tomorrow… farewell."
And so, Rhea and Seteth left the group on their own.
Audience Chamber
Daytime
After Jeralt was debriefed in something, the Eisners returned to the audience chamber and stood in silence for a while as Cabal stepped forward once again, the trio knowing full well of his presence.
"I can't believe it. Forced back into the Knights of Seiros. I'm sorry I dragged you all into this," Jeralt apologized.
"It's alright, Father. It was something we couldn't control," Byleth assured.
"Indeed. Besides, this could prove to be a unique experience," Cabal added, Jeralt nodding with a sigh.
"Looks like I'll be stuck here for a while…and I'm afraid your services are requested as well," Jeralt informed.
"Wait… we must…work here? As mercenaries? Or as servants?" Ryuko wondered aloud, a little surprised by this.
"Oh no. Nothing like that. They want you to teach, by the sound of it," Jeralt shrugged off, surprising the twins further, eyes wide in response, "You heard those brats earlier talking about the Officers Academy, right? Well, the academy just happens to be short a professor. And apparently that damned Alois went and recommended you of all people to Lady Rhea, Ryuko."
"Why me?"
"Perhaps he was amazed by your talent on the battlefield, understanding your potential, and wanted you to pass your talents down to future leaders," Cabal figured.
"Shocking considering our age. But where does that leave me and Cabal, Father?" Byleth inquired.
"Rhea offered a sort of aide position for you both. It's rare that she would give this offer, but she seems to have enough faith in you three to work together," Jeralt explained, getting a slight scowl, "I don't like it."
"Oh, of course you don't," Cabal sighed, the opening door garnering the attention of the quartet.
Two new individuals had entered, clearly members of the staff at the Academy. The first was a woman with short light brown hair, dressed in a dark teal dress that left little to the imagination if not for her white coat over it, all decorated with orange tassels and ties, gold ornaments, and the dress held up by a choker on her neck. The other was an older gentleman with gray hair and a matching mustache with a small beard, a monocle over his right eye, and wore a gray suit with a large overcoat, a white shirt, black shoes, and a green ascot.
The two staff approached the four professionally, though the female took a more… alluring gaze at Jeralt.
"So. You must be the new professor. My, how stern and handsome you are!" She smiled with a sultry air to her, leaving Byleth to cringe at how someone was hitting on his dad (felt icky to him no matter how many times he saw this happen), though Jeralt was only slightly unnerved.
"Er, no. I'm not the one you're looking for," the elder Eisner noted, turning to his kids and Cabal, though mainly Ryuko, "You can handle things from here. Good luck."
"Yes sir," Ryuko nodded.
"Cabal. Be sure to help the twins however you can while you focus on your other mission."
"Yessir!" Cabal saluted as Jeralt turned to leave, but looked to his daughter.
"And… watch out for Lady Rhea," he whispered.
"Why?" Ryuko whispered, knowing her father well enough to know when he got serious about something, but didn't know why he told only her.
"I don't know what she's thinking, making you a professor like this. She may be up to something. Stay on your guard."
With a nod from Ryuko, Jeralt took his leave, leaving the remaining individuals to just stand around the Audience Chamber.
"Oh. It's you, then?" the woman noted of Ryuko, deducing it was her due to how Jeralt spoke with her, "So young…"
"Competence and age are not necessarily correlated, as you well know," the elder man informed.
"That is true, my good sir," Cabal confirmed with a bow, "Forgive us, I don't believe we have been properly introduced. My name is Cabal Wok Izmir, and these two are…"
"Byleth Eisner," Byleth greeted with a bow.
"And I'm his twin sister, Ryuko," Ryuko added.
"A pleasure to meet you all," the oldest gentleman in the room nodded, "I am Hanneman, a Crest scholar and professor at the Officers Academy. Hmm… I wonder if any of you bear a Crest of your own. When next you have a moment to spare, I insist that you pay me a visit so we can delve into the subject further."
Ryuko just raised an eyebrow in confusion while Cabal and Byleth looked to each other, as if knowing about Crests, before turning back to Hanneman.
"We will be sure to meet you when we have the time," Byleth confirmed before turning to the then unnamed woman, "And you are…?"
"I'm Manuela. I'm a professor, a physician, a songstress, and available. It's nice to meet you," she greeted with a warm smile which had a flirtatious undertone towards Cabal and Byleth when she said "available".
"Wait… you're a songstress?" Ryuko questioned briefly.
"Of course. Before I came here, I belonged to a renowned opera company. Perhaps you've heard of me? The Mittelfrank Opera Company's beautiful, peerless–"
"Spare our colleagues the needless chatter, Manuela," Hanneman interrupted before clearing his throat, "Now then, Ryuko, it seems you'll be taking charge of one of the academy's three houses with aid of Byleth and Cabal. I expect you haven't yet been briefed on the nature of each, have you?"
"No, I haven't," Ryuko confessed.
"Do you really not know?" Manuela gawked, Ryuko simply nodding in response.
"You will have to forgive Ryuko. Unlike Byleth, she has not been informed of many things about the church or where we shall be working," Cabal replied.
"Fine, I'll do you a favor and explain. The Officers Academy is comprised of three houses of students, each of which is closely affiliated with its region of origin," Manuela explained as she and Hanneman held up a map of the school as well as the roster lists of three particular classes, Manuela first holding up a list that had the emblem of a black eagle against a red and white shield, "The Black Eagle House is for students from the Adrestian Empire. Their house leader this year is Edelgard, the Imperial princess, who is in line to be the next emperor."
"The Blue Lion House is for students from the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus," Hanneman proceeded to continue, showing the list adorned with a blue and white shield with the head of a lion, "Their house leader this year is Prince Dimitri. He is to be the next king of Faerghus."
Concluding this, Manuela then showed another similar shield of golden yellow and white with the image of a deer across it.
"Lastly, there is the Golden Deer House, which is for students of the Leicester Alliance. Their house leader is Claude, grandson to Duke Riegan, the leader of the Alliance."
"Intriguing," Cabal noted before looking to his book to see its soft glow of the four previous known only to him, "Most intriguing."
"Indeed," Hanneman agreed, not seeing where Cabal looked for the last part due to him packing up the materials the professors had shown the trio, "To think that the next emperor, king and sovereign duke are all here. It certainly is a promising year for the academy."
"I'll say," Manuela concurred, "I just hope none of those little treasures cause any trouble."
"Hmm, quite. For now, I suggest taking a stroll around the academy to get your bearings. And when you've a moment, please stop by my research laboratory."
"The old man has a point. Oh, and keep in mind that I've only notified the house leaders that you're our new professor. It's more fun that way. I suggest you try spending time with the students. Some odd ducks in that bunch, but they're good kids. I'm sure Lady Rhea will have more information for you tomorrow, but that should get you going. Good luck. You'll need it."
The two professors then took their leave as Byleth looked to his sister.
"This certainly has been an odd turn of events," he admitted, "Perhaps we should do some research on the different areas the students are from before interacting with them tomorrow."
"That's a good idea. Go on ahead and gather what you think will be helpful, brother. Cabal and I need to talk," Ryuko replied, Byleth nodding in response as he left, Ryuko taking a deep breath as Cabal stretched a tad, relaxing as he looked to Ryuko, "...Woz?"
"Hai, waga maou?" Cabal, now smiling as Woz with a bow, Ryuko turning to him.
"I know you have another objective you told my father that you want me to help with. But if I am to help you on your mission, I will need you to explain it to me as best as you can," Ryuko informed.
"...perceptive as always. While my partner from the Outrealms is the only one beyond you and me who truly know the extent of the Ridewatches, the items I gave you and Byleth, only your father knows of that mission my partner and I are on."
Woz then opened his book which had stopped glowing.
"You see, the powers of the Riders were not originally intended for our world or in the Outrealms connected to Fodlan. My partner, the Outrealm Hero, discovered a man who brought the powers to the Outrealms and seeks to help said worlds. They have greatly benefited from the powers of the Riders, once called Kamen Riders, but later Outrealm tales called them Emblem Riders due to their connection to a relic known as the Fire Emblem," Woz explained, "Despite what he was told of certain Outrealms, he fought to save all lives, ensuring that those with Emblem Riders were safe with a chance to defend themselves from monsters collectively known as Kaijin."
"Is that what Byleth and I fought outside of Remire Village?" Ryuko inquired.
"Well… that is one such monster. But that leads me to the mission the Outrealm Hero and I are on. His ultimate goal while here is to ensure Fodlan is at peace. However, we did not anticipate what we found. Such dark potential outcomes for this world, and out of millions that I have glanced at, perhaps billions, there is only one that leads to peace and the safety of all you meet at the Academy."
"I…" Ryuko started, but the severity of Woz's words were starting to hit her hard, "Wow… I… that sounds serious. Is there anyone who can help us?"
Woz nodded, opening a page in his book and showing it to Ryuko, the two-page spread depicting 24 Emblem Riders ready to fight a greater evil.
"These 24 are the primary Emblem Riders that are needed to help unite all of Fodlan. They originated from the Outrealms, and each gained powers to protect their homes. However, it would appear a version of most of them ended up in Fodlan, without knowledge of the warriors they were meant to be. And according to my research, all of them are here at the Officers Academy."
"How is that possible?"
"There appears to be a group attempting to lead this world on one of the paths that will lead to its destruction. They wiped the memories of the Emblem Riders and are channeling their powers from the Outrealms to accomplish their goal, corrupting the powers through dark, Kaijin Ridewatches, used by the unwitting to cause havoc across Fodlan to ultimately replace the true unifier of Fodlan."
"Who?"
Woz flipped the page of his book to reveal Ryuko's image along with Zi-O's, as well as a black and gold variant that looked more intimidating with a red visor. This shocked Ryuko more than she already was.
"You. The current path history is on claims you will gain the ultimate power from my home thought to be erased: Ohma Zi-O. Unfortunately, I cannot spoil too much about that," Woz informed, closing his book.
"...ok. I'll ask how and why about that later. What do we do about your mission?" Ryuko demanded to know.
"You must earn the powers of the Emblem Riders granted by their respective Ridewatches. Only with all 24 can you gain the means to unite Fodlan."
"But how? If they don't remember who they were, how can we get their help, much less these watches you speak of?"
"Ultimately, it requires you to befriend whoever you can at the Officers Academy and discover a means to restore their connections to their memories and powers. As for how, that has yet to be seen."
Ryuko just sighed.
"I think I understand. For now, be cautious of the Archbishop and inform me if you discover anything suspicious," she instructed, "I'll go meet up with my brother to do our research on the nations and we can compare what's off. Let's be sure to meet up later once we finish our parts and introduce ourselves to the students."
"Understood, waga maou," Woz smiled as Ryuko left, the man sighing a bit, "If only they knew what the Saints and Lady Rhea are going through. They're just as key to unifying the continent… more important than they think."
Woz straightened himself and stored his book in his bag as he prepared to leave when-
"Have you no intention of changing your mind, Rhea?" he heard Seteth plead with Rhea, the man getting close to the door towards the Advisory room and listened in, "Appointing a stranger–a child no less!–as a professor at our esteemed academy is—"
"I have made my decision, Seteth," Rhea insisted, the archbishop stood up from her seat as she looked to her advisor, walking towards him with an air of assurance, "I know worrying comes naturally to you, but there is truly no need. That "stranger" is Jeralt's flesh and blood, after all."
"I can't say that's all too comforting. How trustworthy is this Jeralt character? Is he not the man who went missing after the great fire 21 years ago?" Seteth asked, clearly nod liking the route Rhea is taking, "I would remind you that Flayn is now here with us as well. I beg of you… please consider whether this is an unnecessary risk."
"Seteth. They have my trust. It is enough for our friend, Asimov," Rhea replied, Woz's raising an eyebrow in slight confusion about this, but kept listening as Rhea walked towards Seteth, "Let that be enough for you as well."
Seteth just looked away for a moment, eyes looking to the corner where a figure in silvery white just nodded in the shadows. The green haired man ultimately sighed and nodded to the archbishop.
"I will try my best," he answered.
"Thank you," Rhea smiled "More importantly, I have received a report from Shamir. I am increasingly concerned about a matter regarding our suspicious individuals. We cannot ignore those who harbor ill will towards the church, especially if they are frequenting Garreg Mach."
"Yes, that matter is of great importance as well. I shall continue my investigation," Seteth nodded, about to leave the room with the man in white, but stopped for a moment, looking back to the man in white before uttering under his breath, "Rhea… for now, I will have faith that you are placing your trust with the utmost care. I pray that nothing occurs to shake that confidence."
With that, Seteth opened the door, not seeing anyone there as he walked off with the man in white. Rhea nearby just sighing as she returned to her desk, no one aware of Woz hiding behind a pillar in the room.
"It would appear that interference from beyond the Fire Emblem worlds has yet to have ceased," he whispered to himself, "...Hero, I hope you're right about what is to come."
The next day, after a long time studying, Byleth and Ryuko were sitting at a table, each reading a book. Byleth was looking intrigued at some of the history he found as Ryuko was delving as deep as she could into the Adrestian Empire's history. Then, at the sound of a bell, they looked up and rose.
"We can finish studying later. Let's meet back up with Lady Rhea first, just to be safe," Byleth told his sister.
"Of course," she nodded as they found their way back upstairs.
At the same time, the Golden Deer House gathered around a map, each of the students getting as close of a look as they could at it, which Claude is discussing. The Black Eagles meanwhile, gathered around Edelgard as she demonstrated a bit of magic by showing a symbol produced magically in her hand. The Blue Lion House, on the other hand, were in the training grounds, practicing combat with Dimitri making sure two students were on their toes as they sparred.
Audience Chamber
Daytime
As the twins re-entered the Audience Chamber, Rhea welcomed Ryuko and Byleth back in as they approached.
"I assume you are already aware that you will be teaching here at the Officer's Academy. Correct?" the archbishop deduced, the twins nodding in response.
"What is our first task?" Ryuko inquired.
"To start, please speak with the three house leaders, first. Also, speak with every student you can, since this might be your only chance to see what they're really like before you become a professor. You should also take a look around the academy and acquaint yourself with your new home. That is your first task here at the monastery. Please let me know if you accept it. Once you have finished, come and speak with me."
"Yes ma'am," they bowed before they walked off, soon spotting Alois talking with Seteth.
"Alois?" Byleth checked as he and Ryuko approached the knight in white armor.
"Ha! Byleth, Ryuko! I imagine you were a bit surprised that I recommended you as a professor here," Alois chuckled, "Frankly, we had someone else in mind for the role, but they ran off during our dustup with the bandits. Can't entrust students to someone who's abandoned them once before, huh?"
"What he means to say is that he made you his recommendation since you saved the lives of the students you came across. That, at least, was admirable," Seteth replied, "Now, you should make the rounds. Go around the monastery and see that you greet everyone."
"We'll be sure to do so, Seteth," Ryuko nodded as she led the way for the trio.
Reception Hall
Daytime
The trio of mercenaries walked around the main floor of the monastery, stepping first into the reception hall where students and staff mingled for a while, all making small talk of various events. Cabal looked on with a gaze that seemed to analyze everyone in the room while Byleth was amazed, though Ryuko's eyes soon met the familiar head of youthful white hair as Edelgard turned towards them.
"Hello," Byleth greeted.
"You seem to be faring well," Ryuko replied, hiding her blush.
"I am. So you've accepted a teaching position here… Pity. I was hoping you would lend your strength to the Empire," Edelgard sighed out of disappointment, not seeing Ryuko regain some level of professionalism, "I never properly introduced myself, did I? My name is Edelgard von Hresvelg. I am the princess and heir apparent to the Adrestian Empire."
"So we've been told," Cabal uttered.
"I am Ryuko Eisner. This is my brother, Byleth, and our ally Cabal Wok Izmir," Ryuko introduced as the men nodded.
"A pleasure to meet you all. Though I wonder if you'll be tasked with leading the Black Eagles... I hope you've had a chance to meet everyone. Would you like to know more about any of the Black Eagles?" Edelgard checked.
"Of course," Ryuko nodded as Edelgard looked over the roster of the house with Cabal taking some notes.
To Cabal's surprise, there were actually 32 students in each class, and amongst the Black Eagles were some members from Hoshido, Archanea, Magvel, and Askr. Each was very similar to their original counterparts, but each was much more peaceful and willing to listen based on what Edelgard stated. Byleth was intrigued by this, getting to know snippets about each student from their house leader, not aware of each student's true origin. Ryuko, however, seemed to get a feeling that most of Edelgard's class were among those from the Outrealms with missing memories that Cabal hinted at.
After a while, the men were satisfied with many of the notes they took as well as Ryuko.
"Well, I do hope to see you three in the near future," Edelgard smiled.
"I'm sure we will. But before we speak with the other house leaders and the other students, I ask…" Ryuko started, "Would you kindly tell us more about yourself?"
"Me?" the princess reacted with a bit of surprise before regaining herself, "Well… some think I'm a bit distant. Arrogant, even. But there's little to be done. One day, I must rise to become Adrestia's next emperor. What else... well, it seems to me that we may have similar personalities."
"How so?"
"Based on what I said, you have an air of arrogance while hiding it, your posture and tone tell me you're distant from others, and you appear to come off as focusing only on whatever responsibilities are laid out for you. But that's just an assumption from what I've seen here," Edelgard noted, Ryuko internally shocked by this psychoanalysis from the few encounters they had.
"I see."
"I believe we must get moving, Ryuko," Byleth informed, his twin nodding as they walked out towards the courtyard of the Officers Academy proper where the student houses were stationed.
Edelgard, meanwhile, sat down for a moment as someone in crimson garments arrived and sat down in front of her.
"Comorin? What brings you here?" the princess wondered as the man in crimson set something before her, making Edelgard's eyes look in shock and awe.
Officers Academy
Daytime
Out in the courtyard for the academy, the Eisner twins and Cabal looked with great interest, making a note of the different students there from each of the different houses. And while they all wore the same style of uniforms, each student gave it a unique flare that was all their own.
"It's amazing the variety of students that are here this year," Byleth admitted, Ryuko and Cabal just nodding as they looked at each other for a moment until the trio spotted Dimitri standing near a bush, also observing the students.
"Oh, it's you three," the blonde man reacted before bowing apologetically, "Please accept my apologies for the other day near Remire Village. You came to our aid, yet I hadn't even the courtesy to properly introduce myself. I am Dimitri Alexandre Blaiddyd, crown prince of the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus. Of course, at the academy I am simply a student."
"It is still an honor to meet the prince next in line for the throne," Cabal replied with a bow, "Permit us to introduce ourselves. I am Cabal Wok Izmir."
"I am Ryuko Eisner, and this is my brother Byleth," Ryuko informed, Byleth nodding in response.
"And I've heard word that you are to become a professor here, Ms. Eisner, with your male compatriots as your aids. Delightful news. I still have much to learn, but I'm confident I could benefit greatly from your guidance. In any case, welcome to the monastery. I hear you're investigating the different houses. Did any of the Blue Lions catch your attention?"
"As a matter of fact, many of them have," Byleth nodded, the process with Edelgard and getting to know the students happening again with Dimitri.
Again, Cabal noticed the oddly large number of students present in the class, with him and Ryuko making note of who potentially was originally from the Outrealms, Byleth being oblivious to this all the while. This time, Cabal noted names from Nohr, Rigel, Zofia, Elibe, and Crimea.
"Now then… you've been so kind as to offer up information on each of the other students in the Blue Lions. Perhaps you could inform us about yourself," Ryuko replied once the other 31 students have been logged in Cabal's notes.
"Me?" Dimitri asked, a bit surprised by this, "Oh. Um. Please forgive me... it's difficult to open up on the spot, don't you think? I'm afraid my story has not been a pleasant one... I do hope that doesn't color your view of me, but I understand if that can't be helped."
"As long as it does not get in the way of your studies, we can look past it," Byleth assured.
"We'll go talk to some of the other students for a while, Dimitri. We'll talk more later," Ryuko informed as the trio walked towards the different house entrances, Dimitri just looking back towards a bench near the bush he stood near.
"And what, praytell, do you have to approach me after I've just spoken with the new professor, Amur?" the prince inquired, only to be given something by this man dressed in azure blue.
Black Eagle Classroom
Daytime
The first house they approached had the black eagle crest over the red shield, Byleth curiously looking to the student standing in under it.
"This is the classroom of the Black Eagle House, which is for students from the Adrestian Empire," she explained briefly to the trio, "Our house leader is Princess Edelgard. There are many other nobles among our ranks as well."
"Thank you for informing us," Byleth nodded, his sister and Cabal entering as they scouted the Black Eagle students.
"So based on the names, you found those from six nations not native to Fodlan?" Ryuko inquired.
"Correct," Cabal confirmed.
"Let's go introduce ourselves to as many as we can."
The first two students they approached were a young woman cyan flowing hair and a man with straightened red hair talking before noticing the two approach, Byleth walking over.
"Greetings, travelers. Welcome to the Black Eagle house. I trust you will be joining us to aid the empire," the man replied with a warm smile, "My name is Seth Ortiz, and I am the personal aide to Eirika, daughter of house Engberg."
"Seth, please, I can introduce myself," Eirika sighed, "Well, it is an honor to meet you all. And yes, I am Eirika Engberg. Both my brother, Ephraim and I are attending classes at the Officers Academy together. I hope to be able to fight alongside you, despite my aide's concerns."
"You are very capable woman, Lady Eirika, but I still suggest you be more cautious with upcoming events."
"Seth, please. Let the newcomers introduce themselves."
The trio did so and they talked a bit, Ryuko and Cabal walking off.
"Let me guess, from the Outrealms?" Ryuko whispered to Cabal.
"Yes. Eirika and Seth are from Magvel, in the land of Renais. She and her brother are important to your cause, so best get their friends on your side," Cabal whispered as Woz before noticing two… unusual individuals that didn't seem fit to be in a school setting.
They were both students, but the woman with bright purple hair had one eye covered by her hair while the other, a young man with black hair and a stoic expression, just stood coldly nearby.
"Hmph! We're wasting time coming here," the male muttered, "We should be out there fighting."
"Don't be that uptight, Wulf. We need to put on a good impression for Lady Edelgard. As well as potential allies," the woman noted, "Hello. I am Malice, Malice Burakgazi. This is Navarre Wulf, my partner-in-crime, so to speak."
"So where do you hail from?" Byleth asked.
"We are but wandering sellswords… ended up in the service of House Lowell," Navarre answered.
"As long as we get what we came for, we'll be fine," Malice assured as Byleth spoke more with them.
"Neither of them are Emblem Riders," Woz whispered to Ryuko, who nodded, "Only a small number of these students are, but we still need to gain their trust."
Ryuko then noticed a grass green-haired man with brown eyes, and a uniform slightly modified for more flexibility, leaning against a wall while monitoring the other students. She approached this young man with a confused look.
"Pardon me, but why're you standing on your own?" she inquired.
"My position is just to monitor the rest of my class. I've yet to confirm if I can trust any of the noble family from my home being around these individuals," he answered before noticing Ryuko, "Forgive me. My name is Kaze. Kobayashi Kaze."
"Kobayashi's your first name?"
"No, it's… it's a tradition from my homeland for family names to be stated prior to given ones. Forgive me. I did not mean to confuse you. You do seem like a worthy ally from the aura you have, though I also sense a strangely dark presence as well. I will be monitoring you closely."
Ryuko just nodded before going over to Cabal as he spoke with Byleth a bit. The trio exchanged what they knew before seeing two young brunette women with one having a small ponytail and the other having her hair hang out with a beret of sorts on top. When Ryuko took a moment to step up to the two, the girl with the hat took note of this.
"Well now, you don't have a familiar face. What brings you here? Oh, my name is Dorothea," she greeted.
"Dorothea… Arnault?" Ryuko checked.
"The very same. Before I joined the academy, I was a member of an opera company in the Empire. You should hear me sing sometime."
"She truly is a magnificent singer," the other girl confessed, "If you must know, my name is Linde Elpis, noble daughter of House Elpis. I hope we can learn magic alongside each other and improve our talents."
Ryuko nodded before she moved on. She then noticed one young blue haired woman talking with a bright yellow green haired girl, both having somewhat shorter hair and modified uniforms, with the greenette's making her look younger. Curious, Ryuko approached the particular pair.
"Hello. You must be new here. My name is Caeda Aiya, heiress to House Aiya from the city of Talys," the bluenette greeted, "I may be familiar with Fodlan, but I am still new to the Academy."
"Why bring that up?" Ryuko wondered.
"Most of the time I was in Fodlan, it was to visit House Lowell from our neighboring city Altea. My father had business with the head of House Lowell, but that meant I could spend time with my friends, the heir and his sisters."
"Including me. I'm Tiki. Nice to meet you. I hope we can have all kinds of fun together. I'll let Mar-Mar and Ellie know you're considering joining us," the greenette giggled.
Ryuko looked confused as Cabal walked over.
"Mar-Mar? Ellie?" she whispered, the merc pointing to two other blue haired individuals, a young man and a young woman slightly older than him.
"Tiki's nicknames for them. Marth and Elice, heirs to the throne of Altea, and the former being the first true Emblem Rider," Woz explained in a whisper.
Ryuko nodded as she approached the two.
"Excuse me? Are you two from House Lowell?"
"Oh, a new face. Were we that easily recognized?" the male, Marth asked.
"House Lowell is one of the highest ranking houses in the Empire under House Aegir and the Imperial family themselves, Marth," the older female, Elice, noted, before turning back to Ryuko, "Forgive my brother, he can be naive at times. I am Elice Lowell, elder sister to the man next in line for the head of House Lowell, Marth."
"If you are willing, we would be honored to have you as an ally," Marth added, "But I hope we can still be friends even if you don't join the Empire."
Ryuko nodded as she was approached from behind by two other students.
"And you are…?" she started before turning to see both a tall, dark young man with black hair styled neatly over his right eye, and a young girl without the jacket having her long violet hair styled in a braided ponytail.
"I am Hubert von Vestra. A humble servant of Lady Edelgard," the man informed Ryuko, not relaxing his intimidating gaze, "I heard you came to the aid of Her Highness. You have my most sincere thanks."
"Thank you… I suppose. And who is this young lady with you?"
"This is Petra Macneary. She has come all the way from Brigid to study in the Empire. Back on her archipelago, she is actually a princess. In Fódlan terms, she would be called heir to the throne."
"Hello. I am called Petra," Petra smiled, speaking with a slight accent that showed she was unfamiliar with Fodlan's common tongue, "I am pleased to be meeting with...no, I am pleased to have met you."
"Likewise," Ryuko nodded, allowing the two students of Fodlan to talk with Marth and his sister as the mercenary noticed Cabal speaking with two other students, both without the black jacket yet the male had blue hair with blonde tips, and the female was pure blonde, "Cabal? Who are these two?"
"These two are allies of ours," Cabal answered, "These are the Wendell twins from Askr."
"Greetings. My name is Alfonse, from House Wendell. It is an honor to meet you, Eisner. I've heard many tales of the Ashen Demon," the young man informed.
"And so have I. As one of the best of House Wendell, I'd be proud to fight with you. Oh, name's Sharena, by the way," the girl smiled as Cabal took Ryuko aside, "We'll talk later, Cabal!"
Cabal just nodded as he moved Ryuko to a quieter spot as Byleth talked to more students.
"Why did you refer to them as allies instead of just students?" she asked.
"They're one of the few who retained memories before coming here," Woz whispered back, "They both share a title, but lost their powers upon entering this world, so we'll need to help them out if you're to get their powers back."
"Oh."
"Keep talking. There's still Emblem Riders in this group."
Ryuko just nodded as she walked to another part of the room, seeing two redheaded girls talking. One taller with more of the black on, while the shorter and clearly younger one had more white visible on her outfit. The professor-to-be stepped towards the two in question.
"You had better watch yourself. If you be against House Yoshiko from Macedon, then I will waste no time in delivering justice," the taller woman warned.
"Please pardon my sister, Minverva. She's much more uptight than she's meant to be. My name is Maria Yoshiko. We come from a neighboring city near Altea, and we seek out peace amongst all the nations," the younger girl, Maria, replied.
"You know I'm still wary of individuals like this, Maria. They could be spies for the enemy. If you prove yourself a true ally, then I may accept you."
Ryuko just nodded, turning to see two more redheads dressed in outfits styled more like Kaze, both having average length hair, though one seemed more timid than the other one.
"Hey. You willing to join our house?" The taller of the two asked, "Name's Hinoka, of House Hoshi. My siblings were sent here at the same time for some reason. Still, we'd be honored to have you at our side."
"H-Hello. I'm Hinoka's younger sister, Hoshi Sakura. I-I hope we can be friends," the younger redhead replied with a bow.
"Likewise," Ryuko nodded before turning to another duo, this one had a young girl with darker, messy purple short hair compared to the bright orange haired young man next to her who stood with confidence, "Hello."
"Ah! What?! I don't talk to strangers!" the purplette panicked, hiding behind the orange haired man.
"Bernadetta, this is no stranger! Our house leader owes this person a great debt. Is that not right?" he checked, earning a nod and Ryuko's name, "I am Ferdinand von Aegir, legitimate son of the Aegir family, the Empire's foremost house. Are you going to join our class? I look forward to getting better acquainted with you."
Bernadetta looked nervous, but noticed Byleth nearby and couldn't help but admire the young man somehow. As she did, she missed how Ryuko left to find Cabal.
"Not many here know of why we're here for real, just as Rhea stated," she noted to her partner.
"Let's keep it that way," Woz nodded, the two soon spotting a young man with grey hair and an air of nobility speaking with a cream-haired woman, whom seemed to create the mental images of the Kaijin Rider from outside of Remire Village.
"Is she the one that Kaijin channeled power from back outside Remire?" Ryuko checked.
"Yep," Cabal confirmed as the two approached them.
"Oh, are you the rumored Ashen Demon who saved Lady Edelgard? That was amazing what you did," the girl smiled, "Permit me to introduce myself. My name is Hoshi Kamui, and this is my butler, Jakob Moloney."
"Loyal servant to Lady Kamui. As long as you do not threaten Kamui's safety, I will be willing to allow you to fight alongside us," the gray haired youth informed.
Ryuko nodded as she walked around and spotted Eirika and Seth speaking to two more individuals. One was a young man like her, with short hair that was seafoam green, and the other man had slightly longer red hair under a black, weathered tricorn hat. It wasn't long before the redhead noticed her.
"I see you've taken interest in the Engberg siblings. You'd best be careful, because I won't hold back in protecting them. Unless you can offer me a good wager otherwise," the redhead scoffed.
"Stand down, Joshua Brando. There's no need for that sort of behavior," the seafoam green haired man interrupted, "Forgive my friend. He's got a bad habit in challenging others and placing unneeded bets. I am Ephraim Engberg, and I do wish we will become strong allies."
"Oh my goodness! What a gorgeous outfit you have!" a voice interrupted, Ryuko turning to see a black haired girl (likely from the home of the Hoshi family) having rushed over to examine her outfit, along with a pale blonde man nearby, "Such detail, and yet the wear on this is hardly noticeable. Who is your tailor? I HAVE to get their tips on this design!"
"Forgive my retainer. Maki Oboro can get rather obsessive with clothing if she sees something she likes," the male informed, "Hoshi Takumi, by the way. Don't drag your weight and I might see you as a valuable asset to the Empire. It would be helpful for us, seeing the tales of you saving the empress-to-be."
"Is it true that you saved Edelgard?" a new male voice asked, Ryuko turning to see a cyan-haired male run up with another male with dark green hair, "That's incredible! The name's Caspar, by the way. Pleased to meet ya!"
"Linhardt," the male greenette introduced himself before turning back around, "Good-bye."
"Yeesh, Linhardt. How'd you get into the academy with those manners?" Caspar sighed before turning back to Ryuko. "So, are you a student here too? Maybe we'll be in the same class!"
Ryuko smiled as she, Byleth, and Cabal were about to leave before they spotted a taller man with dark crimson spiky hair talking with a young woman with blue hair.
"Are you by any chance a member of House Hoshi?" Byleth checked with the male.
"Hoshi Ryouma. That is my name, and the eldest of house Hoshi's children," he introduced, "I thank you deeply for saving the Empress. If you shall be joining us, you have my blade at your side."
"It is an honor to meet the princess' saviors. I am Azura von Bergstrom. I was fortunate to be taken into House Hoshi after… well… unfortunate events," the girl replied, "You have my gratitude as well."
Officers Academy
Daytime
After a while exploring to get introduced to the other students personally, Ryuko, Byleth, and Cabal walked out of the Golden Deer House with a general idea of how the students were as people, with Ryuko and Cabal having compiled a list of who was from the Outrealms with Byleth knowing.
"Ok, we've met almost every student. There's just one more we need to interact with," Byleth notes as he flipped through the list of students, no one aware of a particular young man with blue hair watching from across the courtyard.
"Claude von Riegan, right?" Ryuko checked as they walked back towards the Golden Deer house where the young duke-to-be was leaning against a pillar.
"Well, well. Scored a teaching gig here, did ya? Talk about a great first impression," Claude chuckled a bit as the trio nodded, "I guess that means I'd better introduce myself properly. I'm Claude von Riegan. I'm from the ruling house of the Leicester Alliance, but don't worry too much about all that madness."
"Noted. I'm Byleth Eisner. The instructor-to-be is my sister here," Byleth replied.
"Greetings, Claude. My name is Ryuko Eisner, Byleth's twin sister," she greeted, "And this gentleman with the book is Cabal."
"Cabal Wok Izmir, at your service, sir," Cabal bowed.
"No need for that, Cabal. I get the picture," Claude smiled before turning to Ryuko, "I'm guessing you don't know which class you'll be teaching yet, do you? I bet you'd like ours. We're not as… difficult as the other two. Have you met the folks from the Golden Deer House yet? Care to know more about anyone?"
Once again, the trio took notes on each of the various students from the Golden Deer House. Byleth was genuinely curious, but he started to notice some of Cabal's notes, making mentions of Ylisse, Jugdral, and Atolys. However, the young man decided to ignore this as Claude described the other 31 students in his class to Ryuko.
"Quite an interesting group, Claude," Ryuko noted, "Now… care to divulge us with information about… yourself?"
Claude, in turn, just smiled and laughed a bit in response.
"Piqued your interest, have I? As luck would have it, I'm pretty curious about you as well," he admitted, but shrugged a bit, "But what's life without a bit of mystery? Let's just spend the next year or so learning about each other, little by little."
"Right…" Byleth nodded as they walked away.
"Well, I suppose we should return to Rhea…" Ryuko figured, Cabal noticing someone walking West from their location.
"Why don't you two go on and meet with the staff upstairs. I'll catch up," Cabal suggested, the twins going upstairs as he followed the man towards a larger door.
=ZIKAN DESPEAR!=
The pale blonde man in a white eye mask and dressed in silver and red armor stopped upon seeing the green-tipped and black spear aimed at him.
"What do you want?" the man sighed.
"State your name, business, and where you are going," Cabal demanded, the man he confronted just rolling his eyes.
"I am Jeritza. I teach here. Weapon instruction. These are the training grounds," he said, pointing to where he was headed while shrugging off Cabal before leaving, "Good-bye."
"It might be best to monitor him."
As Cabal stored his weapon, the Zikan Despear away, he ran to follow the twins, not noticing Claude spot him on his way over.
"Hey, Dali. Seems you're not the only one off around here. There's another guy who looks like you who just arrived here with the new teach. Think this warrants that gear you mentioned before?" Claude asked a man nearby who looked very much like Woz/Cabal, only wearing golden yellow robes and wearing what appeared to big a large rimmed yellow fedora, the man handing Claude something that made the future duke sigh a bit.
"Greetings!" a guard greeted the Eisner twins in the Reception Hall on their way back upstairs, "You must be the new professor."
"In a sense, yes," Ryuko confirmed.
"What a pleasure! As for me, my job is to stand here at this glorious entrance and leisurely watch over the comings and goings of everyone. Make folks smile, you know?"
"...that sounds pretty irresponsible," Byleth noted.
"Er… and by that, I mean… to vigilantly guard this entrance with my very life! No levity whatsoever. As of now, nothing to report."
The twins soon met back up with Cabal as they explored the second floor, Ryuko seeing a man with blue hair and gold and teal robes reading a book in the library before being approached by an older gentleman in white robes with brown hair.
"Welcome to the library. Here you may find literature from the far reaches of Fódlan. I am Tomas, the librarian. If you have need of me, do not hesitate to ask. I have worked here for… hmm. I have lost track of the decades, it seems," the man smiled while admitting the last part, Ryuko just nodding, unaware of the blue-haired man watching them.
"Now what else did Lady Rhea need?" a darker skinned boy in squire's clothes muttered while working on stuff, the trio making mental note of him before reaching the offices of the other professors.
"Let's try the right, first," Ryuko suggested as they walked in to see… a rather messy looking room with a few beds lined against the wall as Manuela was taking stock of her supplies, "Professor Manuela?"
"Oh! Hello, Professor Ryuko. Dropping by so soon? Are you ill?" she reacted in surprise, yet smiled.
"No, we're fine. We just wanted to get a layout of the facilities so we don't get lost."
"Well, this is the infirmary, you know. If you're ever wounded or sick, do feel free to drop by. Or if you would like a nice cup of tea. Would you?" Manuela checked, only getting head shakes from the trio, "Well, some other time."
The group walked across the hall to find a small lab lined with bookshelves and something Hanneman stood over on the floor.
"Prof. Hanneman… what is this place?" Byleth asked, getting his attention.
"This is my research laboratory," the elder man informed, "I've worked hard to furnish it with the rare materials and purpose-built equipment required for my work."
"It looks nice," Ryuko admitted.
"Thank you, Professor."
"We'll make sure to drop by later."
As they were about to go back to Rhea, they found an office on the right side of the hall where Jeralt was organizing stuff.
"Sir?" Cabal spoke, Jeralt just groaning as he turned to his kids and ally.
"Here I am again, the office of the captain of the knights," he replied.
"I'm sure you'll do just as well as before if what we heard is true," Byleth assured.
"Besides, we could use all the help we can get," Ryuko added.
"That is nice reassurement, to be sure. That said, I'm merely here to assist. Apparently the current captain is getting on in years. I hear the captain has a hard time keeping up with the responsibilities of the job," Jeralt sighed in response to this, "That's where I come in."
"Noted."
"Well, it seems to be getting late. We may as well hit the hay," Byleth suggested, Ryuko nodding.
"Sleep well," Jeralt bid the trio, Byleth walking ahead.
"Perhaps we should go over our notes and what you know back in my room," Ryuko figured.
"I'll meet up with you in a bit. I have to make sure the Outrealm Hero knows of this," Cabal nodded as the two split up.
Audience Chamber
26th Day, Morning
The next day, the Eisner twins and Cabal met back up with Rhea, Seteth, and the two other main professors.
"How are you enjoying your time at the academy thus far?" Rhea checked.
"It has been a… pleasant experience," Ryuko answered.
"That is good to hear. I hope you have found our halls brimming with the vitality of well-intentioned souls."
"I don't mean to interrupt, but perhaps now would be the optimal time to proceed with our business," Cabal noted.
"Hm. I suppose it is time for you to take charge of one of our three houses of students," Seteth admitted of the trio of mercenaries, "I must note that I am personally against entrusting someone as lacking in trackable history as yourselves with such a task, but it is as the archbishop desires."
'It does seem a bit suspicious that she would personally pick us. Is this Asimov I heard them mention responsible for this potential encounter?' Woz thought to himself.
"The Black Eagles, the Blue Lions, and the Golden Deer… all so different," Manuela noted, "I hope you've made it a point to get to know each of them."
"We've done all we could to get to know the students as best as we could," Byleth admitted, "I assume all of us are to pick which house we are going to be teaching?"
"Since you are new here, we have decided to allow you first pick, Ryuko," Hanneman explained, "Manuela and I will take charge of the remaining two houses."
'Such a task. Which house will I choose…? Hmm…' Ryuko pondered her choice for a little bit, despite thinking about it overnight, but she eventually made her choice, "I choose to teach… the Black Eagle house."
"Your heart has made its choice, then," Rhea noted with a smile, Cabal noticing the soft glow of his book that was shifting between red, silver, blue, and yellow was now mainly glowing red and silver, "All I ask is that you guide these open minds with virtue, care, and sincerity."
"They are all promising youths who bear the weight of Fodlan's future upon their shoulders," Seteth stated as the professors to be looked to him, "I hope you appreciate what an honor it is to lead them."
"Brother?" a young female voice interrupted, revealing a girl with long green hair (the same shade as Seteth's) having walked in with the school uniform, but with everyone's eyes on her, she stopped and looked shocked, "Oh! I am so sincerely sorry! I did not mean to interrupt."
"I am in the middle of something, Flayn. Is it urgent?"
"No, no, it's nothing" the girl, Flayn, answered before looking at Ryuko, "More importantly… who is this?"
"This is our newest professor at the academy. The two gentlemen with her are her new aides."
"Oh my! New additions to the Officers Academy! I am so very pleased to meet you, Professor…"
"Ryuko Eisner," Ryuko answered in introduction, "My aides are Cabal and my brother Byleth."
"I see. Well, I am Seteth's little sister, Flayn. I am so happy to make your acquaintance."
"Let us focus on the topic at hand," Seteth responded, getting the attention of the trio, "There is something you should all be aware of. In a few days' time, there will be a mock battle between the three houses, intended to gauge the current progress of the students. We will be using this battle as an opportunity to ascertain your own abilities as well. Please do not disappoint the archbishop. That is all."
Ryuko nodded in response as the trio, Hanneman, and Manuela were dismissed.
"I suppose we need to go tell the students of the Black Eagles about this soon," Ryuko figured.
"They know they'll be meeting their new professor soon, but I guess now's the best time to let them know," Byleth agreed.
Black Eagle Classroom
Daytime
The students of the classroom gathered together in anticipation for who their new professor would be. They were chattering for a while until the door opened to reveal… Ryuko, followed by Byleth and Cabal, much to their surprise.
"Wait. So our new professor is… you?!" Caspar gawked with wide eyes before scratching the back of his neck, "I didn't see that one coming!"
"Easy, Caspar. Aren't you being a bit rude?" Dorothea scolded.
"You know it's a waste of time to expect politeness from him," Linhardt sighed and yawned a bit, "It will be a pleasure learning from you, Professor. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to take a nap."
"Seriously, Linhardt? That's hardly any way to show respect to our new Professor," Alfonse responded before sighing.
"Admittedly, he's been like that since we arrived at the Officers Academy. Let's hope we all learn well from you in the future," Sharena smiled.
"I will try my best to teach you all," Ryuko nodded as Byleth just looked to Bernadetta with a warm smile, but the moment he did, the purplette gasped.
"Ah! Don't look at me like that!" she panicked, hiding behind Minerva and Maria, "Oh, and… please don't talk to me too much either."
The moment she realized who she hid behind, Bernadetta gasped and just turned around, keeping her eyes off Byleth.
'Timid one, isn't she?' he thought as Minerva sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose.
"Bernadetta, have you no honor?" the redhead in question scolded.
"Please be easy on her, sister. I'm sure she'll be fine and grow out of that phase," Maria assured, the sisters smiling at each other as the rest of the students looked to their new professor.
"I'm sorry for the chaos you've walked into…" Dorothea sighed.
"It's alright. We've been through worse," Ryuko assured as Cabal made notes of the students.
"I hear we are rather close in age, Professor. I hope you do not mind if we treat you like one of us," Ferdinand replied, "In our class, we try to treat each other as equals, despite any differences in age or status. Personally, I would love to include you in that inner circle."
"I don't mind at all."
"YAY! New friends!" Tiki cheered.
"You have a gut, Professor," Petra smiled, not exactly understanding the expression but still giving a warm smile, "I will take great joy from your teachings."
"Petra, I believe you mean to say that our professor has guts," Caeda interrupted, "That's a bit different from having a gut."
"She's right," Oboro added, "You can't go around saying someone so slim and attractive has a gut!"
"Oh? Please take my apologies. I have not yet mastered this language."
"Language mastery is more than just how to speak. Accents and customs are just as important to understanding a language," Navarre bluntly stated.
"And you need to know when not to be so blunt about matters, Navarre," Malice countered, the man in question scoffing in response.
"I see we have a lot of work on our hands," Ryuko sighed.
"You have this covered, I can assure you," Cabal informed with a hand on Ryuko's shoulder, the mercenary-turned-professor nodding before turning to the Imperial princess.
"Professor, I want you to know that it's perfectly acceptable for you to treat me as you do the others," Edelgard informed, "I may be the Imperial princess, but here at the academy, I'm just another student. That said, know that I have high expectations of you. And high hopes. But I'm certain you can lead the Black Eagle House to greatness."
"Such worthy words from the princess herself," Marth smiled.
"She knows just what to say at the right moment," Elice added.
"Sure, sure," Caspar shrugged off, "Now let's break the ice with a training session! I want to see our new teacher in action."
"Why will the ice be broken?" Petra inquired, "Is this a custom I have missed in my studies?"
"Not real ice, just the ice of… um... well, it just means let's get to know each other."
"Even the members of House Hoshi understand this despite the cultural divides between Adrestia our Hoshidan homeland," Ryouma pointed out.
"I just hope we can get to know each other better no matter what we have to do," Sakura added.
"I personally like the idea of training together as a class," Hinoka smiled, "It's a good way to get to know each other's fighting tactics as well as knowing our own weaknesses to help back the other up."
"She's not wrong," Takumi shrugged, "I don't mind the idea of training, either."
"Spoken like a true warrior," Joshua smiled as he and Takumi shook hands with a tight grip.
"I don't want to train!" Bernadetta shouted in her panicked state, "Let's stay in the classroom and… learn from a book."
"Books can be just as helpful as training," Kamui noted, "I should know. I've done quite a lot of both myself."
"As long as we don't quarrel so much, I'll be fine," Linde sighed.
"Now now," Dorothea interrupted, "Let's all calm down and have a nice cup of tea, how about? Doesn't that sound lovely, Professor?"
Ryuko just nodded in response.
"I can prepare the tea myself," Jakob offered.
"I can sew fresh outfits for the occasion," Oboro added, "I have the perfect one picked out for Lord Takumi."
Ryuko smiled as her brother and Cabal noticed the sleeping and snoring Linhardt in the corner as the Engberg twins walked towards him.
"For goodness sake, Linhardt, get up!" Ephraim scolded, trying to get the snoozing greenette up.
"He's making our entire house look bad," Eirika groaned.
"I know we all agreed to treat each other as equals, but there is a limit to what I can tolerate," Ferdinand snapped, "The esteemed Black Eagle House requires order."
From this moment, a majority of the students continued to chatter and argue with one another, the only silent ones being Kaze, Hubert, and Edelgard.
"I truly wish this group would not argue so much," Azura sighed.
"You are not the only one," Kaze added.
"Looks like your first job will be to quiet down this racket," Hubert noted of Ryuko, "I don't envy you."
"Ugh, they're not normally this… rowdy," Edelgard groaned, "I do hope you can manage, Professor."
"I'm sure I will," Ryuko assured.
Edelgard's Room
Daytime
After Ryuko got the class settled down, Edelgard returned to her room with a bit of a hopeful grin before sighing.
"We have our new professor, Comorin. And just as you confirmed… it is the Ashen Demon, her aids being her brother, and the man who resembles you, Cabal," she told someone who was already in the room.
Sure enough, the individual looked exactly like Woz with a crimson red outfit, a book of similar color while having the crest of the Empire which was of the two-headed eagle, with a tricorn hat adorning his head.
"Splendid, hime-sama (Princess)," the man, Comorin smiled, closing his book, "It is just as foretold. A great teacher shall help you rise to power and unite all of Fodlan."
"I'm still confused about the watches. Are they really that important for the Professor and me to unite the continent?"
"Yes. But in order to access your powers…" Comorin started before kneeling before Edelgard, holding out the same device Ryuko and Byleth received from Woz, a Ziku Driver, "You'll be needing this."
Edelgard looked at this device, astounded by the device that was much more futuristic in her eyes than anything she had borne witness to.
"Let this be your first steps towards your dream," Comorin smiled as Edelgard took the belt, "I shall watch from afar, but if Cabal is there… he shall express my thoughts upon your true awakening."
Crest Scholar's Office
Daytime
Ryuko, Byleth, and Cabal arrived at Hanneman's office later that same day, the trio having taken a seat and were discussing matters with Hanneman himself. The elder Crest Scholar going into great detail about upcoming matters with the academy, which Cabal took heavy notes on.
"Say, while you're here… I'd like to use this device I designed to determine whether the power of a Crest resides within you three," the elder gentleman replied, surprising the trio, "Won't hurt a bit. Promise."
"Wait… why are we concerned about these Crests? What's the big deal with them, anyhow?" Ryuko asked.
"You don't know about Crests?"
"Forgive her, Professor Hanneman," Byleth apologized, "She hasn't learned much of life beyond that of a mercenary or the importance of Crests."
"Well, allow me to tell you everything–absolutely everything–about them. Is your calendar clear?" Hanneman checked.
"Well… we don't have much else to do today, why?" Cabal checked.
"This will take a while," the elder man informed, making Cabal and Byleth sigh while Ryuko just got them to take some notes for later, "Crests are a fascinating topic, but before one can dive deeply into said topic, one must first understand what Crests are. They are power incarnate. They are said to have been bestowed upon humans by the goddess countless ages ago. They exist within the flesh, and are passed down through bloodlines. Those who carry crests may excel at magic, display exceptional strength, or any number of boons."
This in particular seemed to have caught Cabal's attention, though no one else noticed his widened eyes. He made notes of how the Crests granted power, and then added bits theorizing the link to this reality's Emblem Riders.
"Each Crest has its own power," Hanneman continued to lecture, "The nature of which is beyond mortal understanding. For now.
"And you believe I have a Crest?" Ryuko checked.
"For all three of you, I suspect as much, yes. But we won't know for sure unless I look into the matter. As I said, Crests are passed down through the blood. However, just because someone carries a Crest does not necessarily mean their descendants will inherit it as well. Only a scarce few descendants of a Crest's bloodline end up inheriting that Crest's power. Perhaps one of your ancestors bore a Crest, and you just happened to inherit it. That is how a Crest usually presents itself, after all."
"Well… I suppose it could be important. We have a personal mission that may benefit from your research," Ryuko sighed, Woz smiling in response, "So please, do what you can to find out."
"Yes, of course. I'll get to the bottom of it straight away," Hanneman nodded, "Now each of you, feel free to step over the analyzer."
Byleth was first, revealing a teal and red image of what appeared to be a leaf.
"Intriguing. You've personally inherited the Crest of Seiros, Byleth. Passed down from the heritage of the original Saint Serios, herself. A very potent Crest, indeed," Hanneman noted as Woz then took over, his Crest appearing similar to the logo of his book, "This is a new one. I don't know if I'm familiar with this Crest, and yet… I feel like I've seen it somewhere before."
"I've been informed that this Crest is known as the Crest of Ohma. It was rumored to be an ancient Crest originating from the Outrealms, on par with the Crest of Seiros itself," Cabal explained, though Ryuko sensed this may have been a bluff to hide his powers.
"Aw yes, that explains it. I believe I've seen this before. Three times, if I'm not mistaken."
'How could he have seen this before? This Crest only manifests in those with control over time like the Time Jackers. So how could he have seen it before me?' Woz thought to himself, stunned as he stepped back, Ryuko taking his spot as her shadow loomed over the analyzer, and the vague image of a Crest appeared, though it was more… wild than others.
"What is this?! A pattern I've never seen before…" Hanneman gawked, "Is it possible an as-yet undiscovered Crest has been detected? To think there are still Crests out there that even I am unaware of! How thrilling!"
"Professor Hanneman?" Byleth responded, "I think you may wish to reign your enthusiasm a bit. It can be a little overwhelming for some.
"Ahem… yes, quite right. Pardon my unrestrained jubilation. I have much to consider. You all may leave now. I have more research to do in regard to this Crest. Yes, so very much more research. But for now, your work here is done," Hanneman replied, regaining his composure to let the trio leave before turning back to study Ryuko's Crest, "Hmm… what could this line here be indicating? Perhaps it represents a lack of symmetry… or perhaps… what in the world? Oh, I see… it may be connected to that, but to a greater degree than usual…"
"Ok then… perhaps we should just carry on," Byleth muttered.
Ryuko's Room
27th Day, Daytime
Ryuko looked over materials to be a teacher. It was a little overwhelming at first, but she found many of the materials still focused around combat, which she was already skilled in. Then she looked back over a calendar laid out for her by Rhea.
'With each moon, professors of the Officers Academy receive a schedule for the month ahead,' Ryuko recalled what Rhea explained about it earlier, 'It notes the days on which events and missions will take place that month. Pay careful attention to your schedule so that you may thoughtfully plan what you intend to do each month, and when.'
"So much to do in so little time," she sighed, looking to her Ride Watch, "I wish I can walk through stopped time and finish everything I need to."
As she thought, she heard the bell ring followed by a knock on the door.
"Who is it?" she asked.
"It's me, we need to talk," she heard Woz say before she opened the door, letting him in.
"What is it now?" Ryuko asked him as Woz walked in.
"That information about the Crests made more e realize something. In this world, Emblem Riders gain powers through the Crests in combination with the powers of the Riders," Woz informed, showing images of Emblem Riders along with various Crests, "That's how you were capable of becoming Zi-O, but it's possible the Kaijin could sap the powers through those of the Crests."
"Ok?"
Woz then showed a picture of Kaijin Rider Kamui and made note of a Crest on its body.
"It's likely to reactivate any powers, the Emblem Riders need to get in contact with their Crest to reawaken their memories," Woz figured.
"That still doesn't help me that much," Ryuko admitted.
"You're given a free day at the end of each week to do whatever you see fit. I suggest you take advantage of these days to get to know the students. The more you befriend, the better your odds are to reawaken the Riders."
"Right. I need to talk to Edelgard about matters in the school and prepare for what'll happen on the 30th, anyway."
In response, Ryuko stepped outside and saw Edelgard talking with Hubert nearby. She figured it would help to get some more details from Edelgard.
"Edelgard?" Ryuko began as the two students turned to her, "Oh. Sorry. Are you two talking about the mock battle coming up?"
"Yes. Some believe the dignity of the Empire rests on the results of the mock battle," Edelgard pointed out as Ryuko sighed with some relief, "That's an overstatement, of course. Still, we must do our best to prevail. You should take the time to learn each student's abilities."
"You're right. Sorry, my thoughts were elsewhere for a bit there."
"Perhaps some extra lessons and training sessions are in order? You look as if you have no idea what's going on here. I know my way around, so I'm happy to help you find your footing."
Ryuko nodded in response, taking notes of what Edelgard brought up. Most was of the monastery had to offer. Considering she was still getting her footing here with her brother and Cabal? It would've been for the best to prepare herself.
"Now that that's settled, I hope you're ready to prepare for the upcoming mock battle," Edelgard noted.
"Shouldn't be that hard. I shouldn't have to go all out," Ryuko figures.
"Do not underestimate them," Hubert warmed of Ryuko, "Dimitri and Claude are the leaders of the other two houses. Do not underestimate them. When we take the field, it would be best not to engage the both of them at once. And while we're at it, do not assume it will be an easy battle, so while it is a mock bout, prepare for anything."
Ryuko just nodded nervously. She could only hope she was prepared as she explored the campus, finding Dimitri and Claude at different points.
"Hey Teach! I hear there's gonna be a mock battle between the Houses," Claude notes with a chuckle, "I'm not gonna lie, I'm a bit concerned about facing an elite mercenary like you. Maybe take it easy on us, what do you say?"
"No promises," she noted to him before she spoke to Dimitri.
"Professor. About this mock battle…" Dimitri started, "I heard about the upcoming mock battle. I want you to know, Professor, that I do not intend to lose. I hereby declare my intention to prevail at... goodness, listen to me. The thrill of competition has carried me away. I won't speak so formally of a class assignment in the future."
At the same time, Byleth was also making his rounds to check on the students and facilities before hearing Bernadetta in her room humming.
"Bernadetta? What are you doing in there on your own?" he asked after knocking, hearing a gasp of shock after knocking, "Why aren't you out with your classmates?"
"I don't like to come out unless I really have to. Hope you're OK with that, Mr Byleth, sir!" Bernadetta nearly whimpered, leaving Byleth to sigh to himself.
"...it's going to be a while to get her to open up. I guess I'll take my time with it," Byleth sighed to himself.
For the rest of the day, the twins explored the monastery and spoke with students. Cabal and Byleth planted something plants for Dedue, Cabal reeled in a few fish, and Ryuko shared meals with a few students. Relationships grew before Ryuko, Byleth, and Cabal began to train with each other in their Rider powers, unaware of what was to come.
Training Grounds
30th Day, Daytime
Ryuko, Byleth, and Cabal all arrived to prepare themselves for whatever would happen.
"Looks like today is the day. We'd best get ready for whatever will happen, right," Byleth figured.
"This should set the tone for how the rest of the year would pan out," Cabal answered.
"Then we should be ready for anything," Ryuko nodded.
And so, Edelgard joined the trio on the grounds.
"Professor Eisner. Mr Eisner. Mr Izmir," she nodded, getting equal reactions, "It's finally time for the mock battle. This is my chance to measure your worth as an instructor, Ms Eisner. Do you think you can rise to the challenge?"
"Leave it to me," Ryuko smirked.
"So confident. This will be interesting," the princess smiled.
'Where is this confidence coming from?' Byleth mentally wondered.
"I should agree, Princess. These have been an interesting last few days," Cabal noted.
"True," Edelgard nodded, "Each of us has undergone strict training. We're prepared for anything that comes our way. That means there's no need to hold back. Show us what you're capable of."
"Hey there!" Claude smiled as he and Dimitri approached, "Did we miss our invite to this strategy meeting? Oh, no worries–we'll just join in now."
"Simply tell me your weaknesses, and you're welcome to stay. But is there enough time to cover them all?"
"Ah, so you can't win unless you know my weakness? Poor princess. You really should believe in yourself more."
"I spare no effort when pursuing victory. As a master of schemes, I should think you would understand."
"Schemes? Me? I have no idea what you're talking about! I plan to fight fair and square, as ever."
"Hearing the words "fair and square" from Claude can only be a bad omen," Dimitri countered.
"Your Highnesses haven't known me for very long, but you already have me figured out, don't you?" Claude chuckled.
"No need to poke fun. I will fight with honor. That said, I will fight to win."
"Yes, and the same is true of us," Edelgard confirmed before turning to Ryuko, "Right, Professor?"
"I treat even the mock bouts like a real battle. I don't intend to lose," Ryuko confirmed.
"If that is how you feel, then I will not hold back," the prince informed.
"Aw, how precious," Manuela smiled as she and Hanneman walked over, "Looks like you and the students have become fast friends."
"While I am pleased that you are taking the initiative to acquaint yourself with the students, I'm afraid it's about time for the faculty strategy meeting," Hanneman informed.
"Ah, how time flies!" Claude jokingly shrugged, "In that case, I'll see you later."
"Edelgard. Professor. Be careful out there," Dimitri bid as the groups all split up.
Battlefield Outside Monastery
Daytime
All three houses set themselves at different sides of the battlefield, with Manuela and Claude standing to the Northwest with Hilda, Lorenz, Ignatz, Sumia, Chrom, Lissa, and Lucina all in place. To the Northeast, Hanneman and Dimitri set up Dedue, Mercedes, Ashe, Lyn, Eliwood, Celica, and Ike by the trees. Joining Ryuko, Byleth, Cabal, and Edelgard in the South were Ferdinand, Hubert, Dorothea, Marth, and Kamui.
"The mock battle is finally here. Will you lead us to victory?" Edelgard asked, Ryuko nodded as she pulled out her sword in preparation, as each fighter prepares their own weapons.
"I'm sure you already understand, but the house that defeats the other two is declared the winner," Jeralt informed as he stood nearby, "Incidentally, I'll be overseeing this mock battle. So listen well if you want to win."
Ryuko nodded before analyzing the battlefield for advantages. She then got an idea.
"Byleth, take Ferdinand and Hubert towards the Northeast to deal with Dimitri's units. Cabal, you take Dorothea and Kamui to the Northwest to stop Claude's group. Edelgard, you and Marth are with me," she ordered, the three trios splitting up accordingly as Ryuko's group hid in the trees.
"None of your shallow tactics are required, Claude. Ignatz and I will dismantle the opposition," Lorenz scoffed as he set his lance while Ignatz looked stunned.
"Me?! But I'm not ready!" the young glasses wearing man panicked, barely hanging onto his bow as he followed the purple haired man while Claude sighed.
"Are you making light of our new professor? If you drop your guard, you're going to get hurt…" the future Duke warned as he signaled Robin to lead a contingent of his group towards the Blue Lions.
"Ashe, can you move to the front lines with Lyn and Ike?" Dimitri asked, "I want to lure the enemy this way."
"Got it, Your Highness! Leave it to me!" The gray haired archer in training nodded, getting into position.
"Once you've finished preparing, make your move. Dedue, Mercedes. Keep our enemy occupied until then."
"I'm on it," the grey haired giant of a young man nodded.
"Oh my! We'll try our best!" Mercedes replied, following Dedue.
Despite the numbers, Ryuko stood nearby and analyzed the field, but suddenly, after sending Cabal's group towards Ignatz, she briefly saw something approaching the group from the East.
"I'm sorry for this," Kamui apologized as she slashed Ignatz to the ground.
"Is something wrong, Professor?" Edelgard asked as Ryuko turned to see what appeared to look like Robin.
However, this being wore a black cloak with visible purple linings inside, a gray bodysuit, golden ornamentation that looked spiked, some parts looking draconic, dark along with his shoulderpads, one leg having the year 1178 on it, the name "Robin" on his torso, and his right arm having a Crest that was adorned with three sets of eyes. The figure eyed two targets with its six red eyes under the purplish visor compared to the silver face as he brushed his hand against the book shaped gemstone that was its belt.
This Kaijin suddenly blasted Ferdinand with a Thoron blast that knocked him out cold, shocking the Black Eagle students before he seemed to teleport in front of the ginger haired Noble of the Blue Lions. She screamed in shock as she tried to counter with a burst of magic, but the Kaijin just chuckled.
"Is that all you have?" he scoffed, grabbing her.
"CELICA!" Dimitri screamed, but before the Kaijin Rider could attempt anything, time stopped with the beast's hand next to the girl's chest, and then… time reversed.
However, this being wore a black cloak with visible purple linings inside, a gray bodysuit, golden ornamentation that looked spiked, draconic, and dark along with his shoulderpads, one leg having the year 1178 on it, and his right arm having a Crest that was adorned with three sets of eyes. The figure eyed two targets with its purple eyes under the visor as brushed his hand against the book shaped gemstone that was its belt.
"Not this time! Byleth! Kaijin!" Ryuko shouted, making her brother gasp and slap on his Driver, preparing his RideWatch.
=GEIZ!=
Byleth quickly slapped the watch into place and activated the driver.
"HENSHIN!" He shouted, spinning the driver.
=RIDER TIME!=
=*Electronic Riff* KAMEN RI~DER~ GEIZ!=
Geiz rushed at the monster and slashed at it with his weapon that was his bow, now an ax.
=ZIKAN ZAX! ONO!=
"You won't lay a finger on any of our students you monster!" Geiz snapped, swinging his weapon at the Kaijin Rider, but the monster dodged the swings before running towards Celica.
"Crap!" the three House leaders and Ryuko all growled as they realized what was happening.
Somehow, without realizing the other three in question were doing the same, they all pulled out a Ziku Driver and slapped it on their own waists before pulling out and activating their own Ridewatches, Edelgard's being red, Dimitri's blue, and Claude's yellow.
=ZI-O!=
=SLIFER!=
=OBELISK!=
=RA!=
The four stood tall, everyone surrounding them looking shocked as they each were surrounded by clock elements, Edelgard by feathers, Dimitri fur, and Claude antlers as the clocks all ticked, Ryuko posing like before as Edelgard stood with a regal pose conveying power, Dimitri a bold stance with his fingers hooked for anything, while Claude stood in a calm pose. Suddenly, they all flicked their hands/wrists.
"HENSHIN!"
This was followed by the spin of the drivers, all syncing up in unison.
=RIDER TIME!=
=KAMEN RIDER~ ZI-O~!=
Ryuko was the first to transform, becoming Zi-O like before, but then Edelgard's clock gears spun and began to form a suit over her as light purple kanji for "Rider" shot out.
=*Eagle Screech & Dragon Roar to a booming drumbeat* KA~MEN RIDER~ SLIFER~!=
The suit formed was mostly black with red bands and accents appearing all over, along with the heads of eagles on either shoulder, and some minor accents looking golden. Her helmet formed identically to Ryuko's as the almost lavender kanji slammed into her visor to complete the change, her hair seeming to flow with over from her helmet to her suit.
=*Lion Roar and Deep Growling to a trumpet blare* KAMEN~ RIDER~ OBELISK!=
Dimitri's suit turned blue with silver and black armor pieces, looking similar to Geiz's, with the chest being reminiscent of a lion's mouth, the watch face helmet completed with orange hiragana for "Rider" forming his visor under his own hair.
=*Deer bellow & griffon screech to a violin solo* KAMEN RI~DER RA~!=
Finally, Claude's suit formed to look similar to Zi-O, only mostly golden yellow with black, silver, and golden accents, antler patterns on the torso and shoulders, with the visor gaining katakana for "Rider" in silver to complete the look.
The rest of the students and staff looked shocked by this as Cabal smiled as he opened his book.
"IWAE! Joining the ruler of time in the power of the Emblem Riders are the three Lords of the nations of Fodlan! Their names are Kamen Rider Slifer of the Adrestian Empire, Kamen Rider Obelisk of the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus, and Kamen Rider Ra of the Leicester Alliance!" Canal declared as Woz, smirking at the sight, "And on this day, we shall witness their first battle as Riders."
(Cue Insert Song: The Day by Porno Graffiti)
When Zi-O suddenly realized that the students transformed, Dimitri and Edelgard as Obelisk and Slifer rushed in at the Kaijin Rider, each pulling out the weapon they specialized in (Obelisk a lance, and an ax for Slifer). The Tactician Kaijin launched a Thoron at Obelisk before summoning a Levin Sword to counter Slifer's ax.
"Ok. Change of plans. Attack the monster and protect your fellow students!" Manuela ordered the Golden Deer.
"You heard her, everyone. Hilda, you take Lorenz and Ignatz to protect some of the Blue Lions! Chrom, you and your friends follow me!" Claude as Ra instructed as the teams split, Cabal and Geiz leading their groups in similar ways.
Suddenly, as Slifer and Obelisk tried to deflect the Kaijin Rider's assaults, the monster was hit by three blasts as they echoed in the air. The two Fodlan Riders turned to see Zi-O with her Zikan Girade now as a weapon foreign to them, resembling a single-handed crossbow, the katakana on the side reading "gun".
=ZIKAN GIRADE! JYU!=
"You will not lay a finger on my students," Zi-O growled, rushing in with more blasts from the gun stunning the Kaijin for Slifer to get some hits in with her ax.
Suddenly, arrows and magic flew in and disarmed the Kaijin of its weapons as Ra and his group rushed in to help.
=KEN!=
Zi-O rushed in with her blade to help, slashing away at the Kaijin as it knocked over some of the students. However, Kamui and Robin managed to strike the monster with their blades as Celica stabbed it in the back.
"Now Ryuko!" Geiz shouted as he and Zi-O set their RideWatches into slots on their weapons.
=ZI-O!/GEIZ!=
At the same time, Ra, Obelisk, and Slifer pressed the buttons on their respective RideWatches before slamming the main buttons on the Drivers, just as Zi-O and Geiz presses the buttons on their watches.
=FINISH TIME!=
Ra was the first to spin his Driver, launching several arrows that froze midair soon after.
=TIME CRASH!=
With a sudden chop of his hand in the air, Ra's arrows flew and hit their mark.
"Curse you…" the Kaijin growled as Geiz rushed in next alongside Obelisk, who launched his lance at the Kaijin, the latter spinning his Driver.
=GEIZ! ZAKKURI CUTTING!=
=TIME JUDGEMENT!=
Just as the lance pierced the monster's shoulder, Geiz leaped up and slammed his Zikan Zax into the beast's shoulder as Obelisk slammed his fist into the monster's gut, forcing him back. Finally, as Zi-O rushed in with her blade, Slifer flipped into the air, spinning her Driver as well.
=ZI-O! GIRI GIRI SLASH!=
=TIME STRIKE!=
Zi-O swung her blade to send energy slashed into the beast as Slifer slammed her heel in an axe kick on the monster before slamming her foot down with a roar, all the Riders turning to pose as the Kaijin blew up.
As this happened, Robin briefly gripped his head like he had a headache before shaking it off. Nobody seeing that, someone dragging the man where the Kaijin stood away, or a blue haired man observing this in the forest before walking toward the monastery.
The Riders all reverted to normal, exhausted before smiling.
(End Song)
"This was an unexpected turn of events… but at least everyone is alive," Dimitri smiled, Celica smiling nearby.
"I gotta hand it, your highnesses pulled a surprise on me there," Claude admitted.
"Had it not been for the monster, I don't think any of us would've revealed our hands with these new powers," Edelgard admitted.
"Regardless, if it were up to me to grade you on that sudden performance," Ryuko started, "I'd say you three passed with flying colors."
"Thank you, Professor/Thanks Teach," the three Lords smiled as Jeralt walked over.
"All right, that's that! That was unexpected, to be sure, but I think we have enough to determine who won despite what previous conditions stated," Jeralt announced, "The winner of this mock battle is... the Black Eagle House!"
"I suppose it came down to who had the most surviving units," Dimitri figured.
"Yeah. Congrats Princess, Teach," Claude added.
"Even though it was just a mock battle, with a sudden interruption, we defeated both houses masterfully," Edelgard smiled as she turned to her house, "Take pride in this victory, everyone!"
Ryuko smiled as Byleth and Cabal approached her.
"Good work out there, sis," Byleth complimented, "If it weren't for your quick thinking, we might be short a few students."
"Indeed. Truly worthy actions of a great warrior," Cabal added, mouthing "waga maou" on top of that leading Ryuko to smile in response.
Reception Hall
Afternoon
Ryuko stood in the room with Byleth, Cabal, and Edelgard sometime after the mock battle.
"Excellent work today, Professor," the princess smiled, "Though our victory should come as no surprise."
"It was easy at first. But the arrival of that monster did surprise me a bit," Ryuko confessed."
"And yet you kept yourself composed enough to ensure victory while protecting all the students in the area," Edelgard noted as the rest of the Black Eagles arrived.
"That was impressing, Professor!" Petra smiled before correcting herself, "I mean...impressive. We gained a victory because of your great leadership."
"We certainly did," Dorothea agreed, "We all tried our best, of course, but we couldn't have won without you."
"I was curious what it would look like if you did not hold back. And you did not disappoint!" Ferdinand grinned.
"Hmph. I daresay we owe our victory to Lady Edelgard," Hubert shrugged off.
"How so?" Linhardt asked, "For that battle, she was only a soldier following our professor's command. Sure, she was an incredibly powerful soldier…"
"Don't worry about it too much, Linhardt. All that matters is that we won!" Caspar cheered.
"We did win, but it was a close call considering the monster that appeared," Alfonse noted.
"So? The Professor can easily handle what's going to come our way," Sharena assured.
"If she could defend other students with such ease, then we are in good hands," Seth nodded.
"Just don't get that concerned for us, Professor. I can handle myself fine," Eirika responded.
"Agreed. We are each capable of great skill on the battlefield," Minerva confirmed.
"Yes. My sister and the others are very strong," Maria smiled.
"Needless to say, I lost my wager with Ephraim," Joshua sighed.
"That's your biggest concern, Joshua? Our Professor just dealt with a monster we haven't seen before," Ephraim retorted.
"I'm still amazed by your skill, Professor. And that armor, too. Is it magical?" Linde inquired.
"It matters not the origin as long as the user's combat experience is decent. She could use work, but I can view it as tolerable," Navarre uttered.
"Oh dear… there he goes being blunt again," Elice sighed.
"It happens a lot, Elice. As long as he helps us, it will be fine," Caeda assured.
"That is true," Malice agreed, "But this victory is the most important as of now."
"This victory shall be one I will always remember," Professor," Marth assured.
"Yea! I'll make sure Mar-Mar never forgets it," Tiki giggled.
"It's almost worthy of a song," Azura agreed.
"I highly doubt it. This battle is not enough to prove you're worthy of being our professor," Takumi scowled.
"Takumi, please. Try to show more respect to Professor Eisner," Kaze sighed.
"She did lead our House to victory, and stopped a monster at the same time," Hinoka reminded.
"He gets like this a lot," Oboro shrugged, "I can vouch for him and congratulate you myself."
"Perhaps this calls for a celebration? I shall prepare tea shortly," Jakob replied.
"That would be great, Jakob. Make sure there's enough for all of us," Kamui smiled.
"Until the next battle, I'll try not to be a burden," Sakura bowed.
"We must all do our best for the Professor. The better we are in class and training, the better we all are on the battlefield," Ryouma replied.
"I'm all done with being on the battlefield, OK?" Bernadetta responded in a near panic, "I'd rather stay back than pursue victory out there."
"You are all as ridiculous as always. We only managed to win because we worked together," Edelgard interrupted, leading to an awkward silence as the Black Eagles stared at her, "Was it something I said? Is it so odd, me talking about togetherness? If so, that perception must change. In fact, I'm canceling the festivities so we can discuss this topic further."
To those who preferred the joyous moment, they gasped as most others just widened their eyes.
"I'm kidding, of course," the princess retorted, "Come on, everyone! We've earned this celebration."
The others just nodded in response as they celebrated their first victory.
Golden Deer Classroom
Afternoon
Robin sat by himself for a bit, setting up a game of chess before placing a hand to his forehead as if recovering from something.
"Hey Robin. You ok?" he heard a voice ask as Claude sat down across from him.
"Hmm? Oh, yes. I'm fine, Claude. It's just that… I felt a bit strange after you helped Professor Eisner stop that beast that looked like me."
"Strange how?"
"A pulsing headache... odd memories…"
"Eh, nothing a game of chess can't help," Claude shrugged, moving a pawn, "Your move."
"Oh, that's how it's gonna be? I'll show you who the better tactician is. Time to tip the scales!"
"You're on," Claude smirked as they played.
Blue Lions Classroom
Afternoon
Celica nervously looked towards Dimitri as he finished studying some material prior to their next class. The orange haired girl then slowly approached Dimitri near the shelf to put his textbook back.
"Um… hi…" Celica greeted.
"Oh, hello Celica. Did you want something?" the prince inquired of her.
"I… wanted to thank you for keeping me safe earlier. You really are amazing as a leader and a fighter," she blushed.
"As prince, I must do what I can to protect those in my homeland. That includes the realm of Zofia and House Lima. I promise you that, Celica."
Celica just blushed and nodded as they held hands gently.
Audience Chamber
Evening
After the celebration with the Black Eagles, Ryuko, Byleth, and Cabal all arrived in the Audience Chamber to meet with Rhea and Seteth.
"Your work with the students was remarkable. I can see Jeralt trained you well," Rhea complimented, "I do hope you were able to use the occasion to bond with the students."
"I did," Ryuko nodded.
"I am so happy to hear it. Nothing would please me more than if you would use this coming year to grow closer still."
"We will try our best," Byleth smiled.
"Of course, the mock battle was mere practice," Seteth pointed out, "The real fight is the Battle of the Eagle and Lion, which will take place during the Wyvern Moon. You are expected to properly train your students so as not to humiliate the academy during the long-held tradition that is the coming battle."
"Understood," Ryuko nodded.
"We shall be prepared for anything," Cabal added.
"Good. Because today, I have called you here to tell you of your mission for the month ahead," Rhea informed, "Your class is to dispose of some bandits causing trouble nearby."
"My mission?" Ryuko inquired, "I thought I was but a teacher."
"That may be true," Seteth began, "However, those affiliated with Garreg Mach Monastery have a moral obligation to help those in need, regardless of social standing. Students are no exception."
"Makes sense, I suppose. Continue."
"Each month, before the newly birthed moon departs, each house of students must complete their assigned mission. You shall work to complete the task at hand alongside your students and report back to the archbishop before the deadline. Understood?"
"Yes sir."
"I will soon provide you with the necessary details for your first mission. If I told you now, I expect you would only forget, and I despise repeating myself."
"Understood."
"I can sense something special within your heart... I have high hopes for you," Rhea smiled as she and Seteth left.
"I'll go and prepare the lesson plans for our students in the Black Eagle house so we can prepare them for what's next," Byleth informed as he left after Ryuko nodded.
"And you, Woz?" she checked.
"I'll talk with some of the Riders and students in the other houses so that we can hopefully recruit them prior to the end of the year," he informed, "You best prepare for the mission with the bandits, waga maou."
Ryuko just nodded as Woz left, leaving Ryuko to her thoughts… and…
"Bandits, they say…" Sothis uttered out of the blue.
"Sothis?!" the mercenary turned Professor gawked.
"Do you recall when we first met? You shall not fall so shamelessly again, correct?"
Ryuko was just stunned silent.
"Have you no words for me? Do not tell me that you are shocked to hear from me!" The greenette's voice snapped, "You ought to know that I am always with you now. To hear my voice should not come as a shock."
"R-Right. Of course," Ryuko nodded.
"Whatever shall I do with you? I am alive within the confines of your heart. I am unknown to all but you... and from the sound of it, Cabal and his friend know of my existence but cannot hear me. But through your eyes and ears, I see and hear. Just listen to your heart, as you are doing now, and we may speak like this. That is all that I know."
"I… I think I get it. ...as long as you can help, I need to prepare for those bandits for now. And I do not know when those Kaijin Riders will return."

1st Day, Daytime
"What is this nonsense?! All we were told was to kill as many noble pipsqueaks as possible and kidnap specific ones!" Kostas snapped as nearby sat a man with black hair and a thick beard in similar attire growled, "No one said anything about the Knights of damned Seiros being on our trail!"
The person he spoke with, however, was a person in dark heavy armor with a cloak, red feathers from the shoulders, and a white and red mask over the face.
"You have proven yourself worthless," the masked man groaned, "Distracted by something so trivial. I had hoped you would achieve your goals despite the setback. But now a child of the knights' former captain is in play. How interesting."
"Hey! This isn't what we agreed to!" Kostas snapped.
"Hiring a mercenary as a professor. What was that woman thinking…"
It was clear the masked figure was lost in thought.
"Are you listening to me?! How do we finish this?!" Kostas snapped as the masked person just glared at him and his partner.
"You die," he answered.
"Wh–What?"
"Underestimating the knights was an amateur mistake. One you will pay for. The road to eternal torment awaits you all. Now I must locate your replacements…"
The masked figure then vanished in a flash of red light.
"Wait! Get back here! Damn you!" Kostas screamed.
"Forget him, Kostas. It's time we prepare our next assault," the man who was silent until then interrupted, pulling out… a Kaijin RideWatch with the monstrous Robin face on it, Kostas revealing the Kamui Kaijin RideWatch from before.

Jikai, Three Houses, One Nation…
Ryuko: How am I supposed to get every Rider under the same house?
Woz: You'll just need to earn each Rider's trust.
?: Just call me Lyn. And please, Sylvain, show some respect for our teacher.
Robin: I feel like I've been through this situation many times before.
Kamui: Don't be afraid to choose your own path now and again.
Byleth: We'd better ensure we don't let these guys get away again.
Ryuko: NO~!

Chapter 2: Familiar Scenery
The Time has Come!
*Ryuko was busy teaching her class as scenes where interspersed with shots of Zi-O, Geiz, Slifer, Obelisk, and Ra battling the different monsters.*
Ryuko: There seems to be a lot going on here with these Kaijin appearing more frequently. How do they keep getting in to the monastery?
Later this Year...
*Woz was seen looking around the academy as a couple shots were seen underground*
Woz: Perhaps there are routes not even we know of.
New Secrets will be Revealed...
*A scene then focused on a chamber with four individuals*
Byleth: Really, Woz? It's not like there are people living underneath the monastery who plot these things out.
And a New Rider will Emerge
*One of these individuals stood in front of a grey flag, holding two items… a silver RideWatch and a Ziku Driver*

=NEW TIME!=
Coming Soon...
KKD: Yes folks. Already a second chapter, the first proper for this story, and we're getting a preview of something to come. I apologize if this took more time with more Fire Emblem than it did Rider stuff. It's going to get trickier to include enough elements from both to balance things. Hopefully next time I can keep some focus with how I plan to get these recruitment chapters dealt with. Either way, this is the first proper chapter and Ryuko is now the professor of a particular house. Does this mean we will focus on one route? Well… you'll need to stay tuned to see just what happens. And yes, expect reverses in time to become regular in this, and expect Ryuko's catchphrase to be "Not this time!" ...Sorta. You'll see. Until then, I hope you enjoyed this, Crossover Kingdom. Until next time, be sure to fav and review this story, and until then, ore wa KKD Silver. *salutes* Jaa ne.
