KKD: Well, this was a project I wanted to hold off for a while as it would take a lot more time and effort than I initially anticipated, but I suppose with Pika getting his story up sooner, I may as well get to working on this as much as I can. This was meant to celebrate both the Heisei Era's end and the release of Three Houses. Apparently now Fire Emblem is turning 30 this year, so what better time than now to even get started. With all of the DLC for Three Houses released, and after some… unfortunate setbacks, I can safely say I am back on progress with this story. But at the very least, I need to get one chapter out this month. And to make it easy on me, it's gonna be released on my brother's birthday, a day I'm not going to easily forget. So, I hope you guys enjoy this first chapter after my long hiatus from fanfiction writing for my own sake. Disclaimers are go.

Tailtean Plains
Imperial Year 91
The sky was blackened above by miles of storm clouds, the surrounding area lit by the flashes of lightning that struck every so often. Across the vast plains, a large army of soldiers ran across the soaked fields that had become a battlefield. As infantry and grounded Calvary take the charge, pegasus knights fly in from above to strike at their foes. An opposing army rushed at the armor clad troops and clashed with their enemy. Lances, axes, and swords clashing rang out amidst the roaring of the military as both factions collided. The struggle continued to increase tension as a whooshing sound was heard.
One paladin looked in response to see a sword falling from the sky and land in the center of the battlefield. An explosion shot out from where the blade landed, destroying a large portion of the army. Amidst the flames, a large berserker of a man landed on the ground in the center of the chaos. He stood to reveal his limited armor yet heavily muscular build, wearing a cape, large skull pauldrons with a fur collar, dark pants and massive boots as he looked up with cold golden eyes on his aged face framed by whitish gray hair that reached his neck and a matched beard and mustache. The soldiers within range of the man charged as he lifted his weapon, a large sword that had the appearance of being made of bones with its texture, stained ivory color, and segmented blade that resembled vertebrae. As the battle raged, ten to sixteen red lights were seen flashing from the air, sending troops flying. With the roars combat echoing across the plans, a woman dressed in a white and gold dress for combat, with a golden headdress and white flowers in her pale green hair stands waiting to meet the bearded man. A soldier jumped in front to protect her from the berserker's attack but is struck down.
"Lady Seiros!" He grunted out with his last breath as he fell.
The bearded man cut down a few more soldiers before glaring at the woman, Seiros, a claw scar on the left side of his face visible as the sunlight came through. Hardened golden eyes met the stern almost hate-filled eyes of Seiros, the graying man simply staring back. The man the flicked his wrist, causing the blade to turn into a whip of sorts, glowing with a fiery aura before swinging it around, knocking more soldiers away. Seiros, in turn, pulled out sword of her own and prepared a shield as her glare at the man intensified with rage. The two then ran at each other as the man's blade retracted to normal before they attacked, clashing blades echoing in the air as the rest of the armies grew silent, focused on the leaders. Then, after a struggle between the two as they glared are each other, they broke off, the berserker flicking his blade into the whip, forcing Seiros to dodge two swings, but her sword's teeth caught the whip as it was forced around the blade, the man gasping in response.
Seiros the tossed the weapons aside, disarming the man before the green haired woman rushed in and punched him in the chin, following it up with a kick that knocked the brute down. She then stepped over, unsheathing a knife before pinning the aging warrior down into the mud, knife to his throat.
"Tell me, Nemesis, do you recall the Red Canyon?" she snapped, as the man, Nemesis's eyes widened in shock before she started stabbing him repeatedly, grunting with frustration in each blow, "You'll die for that! Die, die! You took… everything... that I loved!"
She stabbed him a final time as she said those last words, soon left drained as she panted, Nemesis unmoving beneath her… dead. She looked up to see remaining members of Seiros's army cheering in history. But all she could make out was silence as she looked at and lifted Nemesis's weapon and embraced it, putting blood on her face.
"He's gone now, Mother…" she panted in a comforting tone while also hinting at some inner sorrow deep down.
Suddenly, a vortex flashed in view, flying through time and space before stopping sometime in the future.
Tailtean Plains
Imperial Year 1200
In the center of the field, a figure donned in an unusual armor stood tall in front of some kind of stone monument of a woman and a man in a dramatic pose on a pedestal in front of a clock surrounded by 24 other armored warriors of some kind. The figure before the monument was donned in a black bodysuit adorned with gunmetal gray and gold pieces of armor, many resembling the bands of modern watches, stopwatches, watch faces, and yet had many regal adornments, spikes in differing spots like shoulders and around the face of the helmet, the back having Silver clock hands hanging like a cape. The waist was adorned with a golden belt that had a button on top and a face with the number "1180" on it. The helmet face resembled a watch face with the hands in the "10:10" position, a small white symbol between the eyes reading "Kamen" while the red visor took the form of the word "Rider", both written in katakana.
The figure glared out at the surrounding ruins as four different massive armies approached, each donning the colors and armor of a different faction. The warriors of varying classes all roared as they charged. Infantry followed the leads of calvary as well as the aerial Pegasus and Wyvern mounted units. The first to approach were the lance using blue-clad forces, but the black and gold armored figure quickly disarmed each unit and knocked each aside with but a swat of a hand. The silver knights and paladins rushed after, blades at the ready, but they met a similar fate, the black and gold warrior dealing with them with little effort. Suddenly, a flurry of arrows and magic flew in towards the figure, however, said warrior clenched their fist to emit a purple and lime green fiery glow before blasting it out at a majority of the forces, leaving but a few infantry standing.
"You betrayed all of Fodlan with your tyranny. Prepare to die!" one of them shouted, each of the three preparing their own weapons.
However, the black and gold clad warrior reached back and pulled out the same blade Nemesis used against Seiros centuries prior. The three warriors rushed in and clashed with the figure in black and gold, snarling as blades clashed, but the regal figure barely flinched as the red visor met the varying eyes. Suddenly, with a flick of the wrist, the royal's blade unfurled into a whip before slashing at each soldier before bringing the three towards its owner. The king… no, Overlord simply glared at the three before snapping the blade back into place, killing the three in an instant. The ruler then stood before the monument, staring at the surroundings, triumphant.
Then again, the vortex flashed through time and space, this time stopping on a blackened screen. Out of the darkness a throne with a sleeping green-haired girl with red and white tasseled, dressed in a purple dress and gold ornaments and a similar crown emerged. She awoke with a yawn, rubbing the sleep from her eyes and covering her mouth as she did so, before looking a bit surprised at what she saw before her.
"Oh my. What could have brought you here?" she asked the person in the darkness, said person looking confused as they looked around, the girl sitting back to look at this individual, "I wonder how you got in here… it is most rude to interrupt a moment of repose. Very rude indeed. Now come to me. I wish to have a look at you."
Then, from the shadows, emerged a woman who appeared confused. She stepped out in black boots, a metal knee pad over her left knee, lacey stockings, a short black skirt, an armored black dress top that showed her navel region, yet stopped at her bust to show cleavage behind the pink trim and golden ornament, topped with a black cloak around her shoulders and connected to the white collar around her neck. Haltered in her black belt was a black and gold dagger with a blue sheath. Her blue eyes looked up past her dark teal hair and to the green eyes of the girl on the throne.
"Hmm... I have not seen the likes of you before. Who are you, anyway?" The younger girl inquired, further confusing the blue eyed woman.
"Um… I would think that I'm a mortal," the woman answered.
"I see. Then you must have a name of sorts. Go on."
"...R-Ryuko. Ryuko Eisner, daughter of Jeralt Eisner."
"Huh. I shall not ever grow accustomed to the sound of human names," the greenette admitted, the young woman named Ryuko just unsure as to why this girl would ask her such questions, "You must possess a day of birth as well. Beneath which moon and on what day were you born to this world?"
"Well… I believe I was born on the 24th day of the Great Tree Moon alongside my twin brother."
"Well, wonders never cease! It seems we share our day of birth. How strange! Hmm. It all feels so… familiar. I think it may be time for yet another nap... it is almost… time to… begin…"
"Wait, what do you mean? Tell me what is happening! Please!" Ryuko called out, trying to approach the girl as the greenette fell asleep, and everything went dark around Ryuko.
Remire Village (Empire Territory)
Imperial Year 1180
25th Day, Great Tree Moon
Nighttime
"Hey. Time to wake up," an older gentleman spoke, Ryuko waking up to see she was now in a bedroom in the middle of the night.
Near her was a young man identical to her, but he was mostly dressed in black, with similar armor, the same golden ornament as a buckle she had around her neck, some pink symbols on his chest, and yet had the same teal hair (cut short) and blue eyes she had.
"You ok, Ryuko?" the young man asked.
"I think so, Byleth" she shrugged in a near monotone voice before getting up, the two approaching another man in the room.
This gentleman had burnt orange garments with armored limbs, a white emblem and a matching fur collar, his grizzled face having a few scars matching his short dirty blonde hair, beard, and brown eyes that one could recognize held years of experience.
"Were you having those dreams again?" The older man inquired of Ryuko.
"Yes… I was dreaming about a war…" she began.
"Massive armies clashing on a vast field, right?" Jeralt checked, "There hasn't been a battle like that in over three centuries…"
"Right… then there was this… black and gold tyrant…"
"Wiping out armies singlehanded? I don't think we even have records of someone like that," Byleth added.
"Not to mention, the last dream tonight was about a young girl…"
"You've described her to us before. I don't think we've ever met anyone like that," the gentleman added.
"You sure have had a lot to think about lately," Byleth noted.
"Yes… it is strange…" Ryuko admitted, looking to her hands.
"In any case, just put all that out of your mind for now. The battlefield is no place for idle thoughts," the man added.
"Dad's right, sis. Risking your life is part of the job for mercenaries like us. Letting your mind wander is a sure way to get yourself killed," Byleth added.
"I understand, brother," Ryuko nodded, straightening herself out.
"OK, time to get moving," the man, Ryuko's father Jeralt, informed, "Our next job is in the Kingdom. I told you before. It's far from here, so we'll need to leave at dawn."
"Of course."
Byleth just nodded, knowing his sister had been adapting to life on the road has been encouraging, but the dreams left him a bit uncertain as to what would happen. Jeralt did seem proud of his son helping his sister, but this also left him with concern as the words of his daughter left him with some kind of unease. But he was soon distracted by something out the window.
"Hm? Good grief. Everyone is already waiting for us outside," Jeralt noted.
"We'd better go then, Ryuko," Byleth added when suddenly-
"Jeralt! Sir!" a mercenary wearing a green top and pants, grey armor, and dark grey scarf complimenting his black windswept hair, called out as he rushed in, confusing the Eisner trio, "Sorry to barge in, but your presence is needed."
"What's happened, Cabal?" Jeralt asked.
"We have some students asking for help against something big, sir."
The father and his kids looked at each other a bit before nodding and going outside.
It didn't take long for Cabal to lead the trio to another trio nor fiat from the edge of Remire Village. The first of these was a white young man with short blonde hair that had a large set of bangs hanging near his blue eyes, a blue shirt under his black uniform decorated with golden trim, dark gray greaves and gauntlets, topped off with a blue cape reaching his legs. The second man there had an olive skin tone and short messy brown hair, a tiny braid hanging off the side near his green eyes, a yellow shirt under a similar black and gold uniform but with a trench coat like skirt near his legs, a shorter yellow cape, not gauntlets or greaves but having golden cuffs, and normal boots. The last of these was a young woman with white hair that reached her legs and seemed almost white, framing fair skin of her face and pale lavender eyes. Her attire was similar to the two young men with her, but she had a sort of cravat around her bust, golden braids around it, black short shorts and red leggings that matched her shirt and cape over her left shoulder, white gloves and white cuffs, and black heeled shoes. All three seemed to have a regal air about them.
"Please forgive our intrusion," the blonde clad in blue apologized with a bow of respect to the approaching Jeralt, "We wouldn't bother you were the situation not dire."
"What do a bunch of kids like you want at this hour?" Jeralt inquired of the three.
"We're being pursued by a group of bandits. I can only hope that you will be so kind as to lend your support."
"Bandits? Here?" Byleth gasped as Jeralt and Ryuko were equally surprised.
"It's true. They attacked us while we were at rest in our camp," the girl in red confirmed and added.
"We've been separated from our companions and we're outnumbered," the male in yellow also threw in, "They're after our lives… not to mention our gold."
"I'm impressed you're staying so calm considering the situation. I…" Jeralt started before he noticed something odd; something familiar about the way the three youths dressed, "Wait. That uniform…"
"What about them?" Byleth started as yet another mercenary approached the group.
"Jeralt, sir! Mr. Izmir! Bandits spotted just outside the village. Damn… There are a lot of them," the merc informed.
"I guess they followed you all the way here," Jeralt figured before sighing and turning to his kids. "We can't abandon this village now. Come on, let's move. Hope you're ready."
"Yes sir!" Byleth replied, turning to his sister, "Remember our training, Ryuko. This'll be our best chance to prove your worth."
"Of course, Brother," she nodded, the two grabbing swords and joining the three youths in uniform, Jeralt standing back a moment with Cabal.
"Does any of this feel… familiar?" Jeralt asked.
"Indeed sir," Cabal nodded, a hand on a sack he held, with a symbol sewn into it… in katakana.
"...standby," Jeralt ordered, hopping onto his steed, Cabal nodding as he gripped onto some kind of watch.
The three students each got into position by the village gates, the blonde male with a lance, the man in yellow with a bow, and the girl with an axe as the Eisner trio joined them. All six bore witness to a large group of bandits running towards Remire.
"Let's take care of those thieves before they overrun the village," Jeralt informed as he prepared his own lance, "Take down the enemies in front first. That should take the wind out of their sails."
"Roger that. Ok Ryuko, do your thing," Byleth replied, his sister nodding in response before turning to the youths.
"You three seem just as prepared for combat as us. Now is a good time to prove those skills," Ryuko responded.
"On it!" The man in yellow nodded as he ran up and launched an arrow at one of the incoming bandits, knocking him down swiftly.
"Thank you. We are in your debt," the man in blue bowed before preparing his lance, "It wouldn't do for us to fall in a place like this. Please, lend us your strength. Let's work together to drive out these thieves!"
He then rushed in and spun his lance around, attacking some of the bandits with ease. Each swing sending an ill-prepared unit to the ground.
"Nice work on the authority, Ryuko," Byleth smiled.
"We trained under the best mercenary out there," she replied as the brunette in yellow came back briefly, Byleth quickly cutting down a stray bandit.
"It's because of you guys that I'm not dead right now," he admitted, "Thanks for that! I didn't expect to run into mercenaries like you in some remote village. The gods of fortune must be smiling on me!"
"Well standby for further orders. We're not out of the woods yet."
The brunette nodded, preparing himself as Ryuko looked at the woman in red.
"You have a strange aura about you…" she noted, Ryuko just looking in confusion, "You say you're a mercenary, so show me what you can do."
The teal haired woman nodded as they rushed in and attacked another bandit, giving each other a nod as Jeralt rose over.
"What's our next step, father?" Ryuko inquired.
"We'll advance while protecting ourselves from the enemy. Take up position inside the forest," the elder mercenary instructed.
"Of course!" Byleth smiled, "If we're in the forest, we can sustain their attacks without losing the advantage."
"How much time until they reach the gate of Remire?" Ryuko asked.
"From what Cabal and his men said, 20 minutes, if our myrmidons can hold-" Byleth began before they heard some screams of pain, "Better make it 5, if that's the leader taking Cabal's men out."
"You heard the man, you three. Into the forest. Move!"
The three youths just did as ordered, ducking into the trees as Jeralt went around. Ryuko led the group through and they each struck down more bandits effortlessly.
"This is a fine opportunity. Use the combat arts I taught you!" Jeralt shouted.
"With me!" Ryuko added as the three youths and Byleth ran with her, each tearing down some of the remaining bandits, with Ryuko in particular going in for a wild spinning strike that conveyed a sort of inner wrath in the young woman, leaving the number of bandits down to three, not that many knew of it.
"Damn. Why are there mercenaries in the village?" one fur and armor clad barbarian-like bandit growled, gripping tightly to his axe, "Guess we'll have to deal with them too."
As the group with the Eisners began to recover, the young men in blue and yellow prepared to strike at another bandit before the barbarian bandit, the leader, rushed out.
"I'm gonna kill you where you stand…" he growled, only to get intercepted by Byleth and Ryuko, "Hey, you with the blank stare! Outta my way!"
The twins slashed at the leader, but were forced off him by the other bandits when Jeralt came in to help, his steed and lance forcing the goons back.
"What the?! Aren't you Jeralt the Blade Breaker? What's a renowned mercenary like you doing here?" The bandit leader gawked.
"I'm the one who should be complaining. I'm caught up in the mess you started!" Jeralt growled, hitting the bandit leader with his lance hard enough to send him flying and onto his back.
"Phew! That takes care of that," Byleth panted, "Thanks for the save, Dad."
"You both did well for this sudden assault. May have gone too wild in spots, but you'll be fine," Jeralt noted of his kids as Ryuko smiled, her father and brother not seeing it, but from nearby, Cabal seemed to notice despite his distance and smiled as he opened a mysterious book.
"And so the origin begins," he began to read to himself, "Not in a major city like the original, but a small humble village. If she deems it worthy, then the true unifier of Fodlan shall awaken and lead the nation into a true peace and unity… unseen for centuries. And the catalyst will be… the perversion of an Emblem turned crest..."
As if on cue, the bandit leader, who was still unconscious for a moment, glowed a light blue with a symbol of an eight pointed star surrounded by two wings appearing from it, catching Ryuko's confused attention. Suddenly, the bandit leader's eyes opened just as a few more of his men arrived. He then quickly flipped and jumped up to his feet, roaring as the glow turned a pulsing, sickly dark sangria purple before being surrounded by a vine of sorts.
"What in the name of the goddess?!" Byleth gawked as Jeralt gasped at the sight of the bandit.
=KAMUI!=
Said bandit emerged now dressed in a black bodysuit that appeared to have bulging veins, silver armor appearing like leaves on top of the body with rusted gold trim, tattered sashes around him in a dark denim blue, the dragon-like armor stylized like a combination of a samurai's garments and a knight's armor. Across the sash was the word "Kamui", in red, on his arm was the number "1179" in purple. Around his waist was a rusted silver belt with three crystal slots filled with red, blue, and purple as dirty blonde hair in a wild mane flowed from his head. The helmet had a draconic appearance with fierce navy blue visor with one eye glowing red and the other purple under the lenses, silver face, and a fierce set of fangs as the maw opened with his roars.
Ryuko was stunned by this sight before she saw the bandit let out a distorted roar and run at the young woman in red, his axe now looking like a mix between an axe with a crimson blade and a golden sword with gemstones in the blade. Out of instinct, Ryuko rushed over.
"RYUKO, WAIT!" Byleth shouted as he rushed after, but Ryuko had already reached the young woman.
"YOU'LL DIE!" The bandit leader shouted while he swung the weapon down as Ryuko shoved the girl aside and blocked the strike using her back, but just as the blade was within a millimeter from Ryuko's back, time suddenly seemed to slow and stop as the world looked like a camera film's negative.
Ryuko's eyes were shut tight as she awaited her death, but it never came.
Ryuko then found herself back in the black void from before. She opened her eyes and looked around in surprise, confused about how she returned to what she thought was the dreamscape.
"Honestly! What are you accomplishing with that little stunt?!" The female voice from before gawked in frustration, leaving Ryuko even more stunned as she looked around more, "It's like you're trying to get me killed, you fool!"
With that call, Ryuko gasped, turning to see the girl from her dreams on the throne from before, looking down at her with a stern look before relaxing a little.
"Well, it's fine. After all if you don't know the value of your own life you're not going to protect it very well are you? Course not," she replied with a slight sigh, soon standing up, "Well then, I guess it's up to me to guide you from now on, right? How fortunate we have associates to help me guide you on your path. You will meet them later if you haven't already. For now, you can call me Sothis… but I'm also known as 'The Beginning'."
Ryuko looked both surprised and confused by this. The newly named Sothis just stood by her throne, pondering the information she just conveyed.
"Sothis?" Ryuko questioned.
"Hmm… Sothis… Yes, that is it. My name is Sothis. And I am also called…The Beginning," Sothis recalled on repeat a bit before questioning the source, "But who once called me that?"
"Pardon me for asking, but why wait until now to bring this up?"
"I was not able to recall my name… until just now. And just like that, it came to me. How odd," Sothis explained before gaining a look of irritation upon seeing Ryuko's questioning glance, "That look upon your face… did you think me a child? A mere child who forgot her own name?! Phooey! That 'child' just saved your life! And what does that make you?"
"Wait… you mean to say I'm… I'm less than a child? "
"Correct! You understand. You threw yourself before an axe to save just one young girl. Granted you saved her from some twisted abomination that should not exist in any reality, but your instinctual act would've only saved her life at the cost of your own. Yet all is well, as I have stalled the flow of time for now. You would have died had I not intervened."
This revelation came as a shock to the young commoner, disbelieving it at first before knowing the scope of her actions. Still, she never looked a gift horse in the mouth, so she had to at least respect this powerful girl
"Thank you, Sothis. You have my gratitude," Ryuko resounded, bowing to the girl.
"There now. Is gratitude so much to ask?" Sothis smiled, "I did deem you worth saving, after all.
Though it is only momentary, time has stopped. However did I manage that…"
"Time has stopped? How is that possible?" Ryuko thought.
This was not something that happened everyday, and Ryuko has a strange feeling about it. If time stopped like she said, nothing would move forward, that much she knew. Regardless, she had to do something… for her family and the innocent youths she met. She needed to go back and protect them.
"Ugh, forget it. I need to get back and help the others against that… that thing the bandit leader became. Maybe this girl can help beyond what she said so far." Ryuko thought before inquiring of the greenette, "What will happen when time resumes?"
"When time begins again, the axe will tear into your flesh and the sword blade connected to it through your head, and you will surely meet your end," Sothis explained, leaving Ryuko in shock, disbelief in her eyes as Sothis was frustrated again while still pondering, "How rude of you to drag me into this! Now what to do…"
Ryuko thought in a panic in that moment. She had too much to live for, and yet she didn't know why she felt the way she did. She was normally a calm individual even in the face of danger. However, she was mentally crumbling, not sure what to say or do.
"Ugh! I don't have TIME for this! I need to get back and hel-... wait a minute…" she responded before she thought of what she said, "Time? ...if Sothis could stop time, then... hey! ...Sothis, could you turn back the hands of time?"
"Of course! I must turn back the hands of time!" Sothis said in realization, summoning up a magic circle between herself and Ryuko, the latter looking more composed and ready for what was to come, "Yes, I do believe it can be done. You really are quite troublesome. I cannot wind back time too far, but all is well. You are aware of what's to come, which means you can protect yourself this time. And should you survive, seek the aid of the Dark Mage of the Future, and the Hero from the Outrealms."
"I understand, Sothis," Ryuko nodded, internally confused about the last two things she said, but realizing she can figure it out later.
"Now, go… yes, you who bears the flames within. Drift through the flow of time to find the answers that you seek…"
With the flash of light, Ryuko vanished.
From the moment time stopped, axe blade a millimeter away from Ryuko's back, time spun back, rewinding until they reached the moment Cabal opened his book.
"And so the origin begins. Not in a major city like the original, but a small humble village. If she deems it worthy, then the true unifier of Fodlan shall awaken and lead the nation into a true peace and unity… unseen for centuries. And the catalyst will be… the perversion of an Emblem turned crest…" he began to read to himself before seeing Ryuko's sudden cautious yet determined expression instead of confusion, making him smile, "And a turning back of the clock."
=KAMUI!=
Ryuko simply glared at this sight before she saw the bandit let out a distorted roar and run at the young woman in red, his axe now looking like a mix between and axe with a crimson blade and a golden sword with gemstones in the blade. Now having a plan, Ryuko rushed over.
"Huh?" The young woman in red gawked.
"RYUKO, WAIT!" Byleth shouted as he rushed after, but Ryuko had already reached the young woman, sword drawn.
"YOU'LL DIE!" The bandit leader shouted while he swung the weapon down.
"NOT THIS TIME!" Ryuko snapped, using her sword to block the attack before kicking the bandit-turned-monster back, surprising everyone as the bandit was sent flying, even as he landed on his feet.
"Sis… did you…?" Byleth gawked, his sister panting as the red clad youth let off a minor blush before Ryuko just panted and nodded.
"Hey–over here!" They heard the brunette call out as he and the blue-clad blonde joined the twins, Jeralt rushing over soon after.
"Hey... Did you just…" Jeralt gawked as the bandit leader roared, getting their attention.
"Ryuko! Byleth!" they heard as Cabal arrived, "I saw what happened. Splendid work. But tell me… do you remember the tales I spoke of before?"
"The tales of your former leader?" Byleth asked.
"More or less. He ended up sacrificing what he had before to save his home… but a friend helped me locate a remnant of his powers, with a word from him saying I should find a worthy successor," Cabal informed, reaching into his bag and revealing four devices.
The first two were what seemed to be slightly bulky items that were a dark gray while the center had a foggy white cover surrounding a digital screen, along with the same symbol on Cabal's bag in black under the screen. Teal accents adorned the devices with both sides having round ports and rails for sliding something into them.
The other two items were some kind of pocket watches without a chain. The main body of one was primarily grey with a white rim and button on top, and a face with an incomplete image with a hint of magenta as the top of the screen showed the same symbol on Cabal's bag, and the bottom showing the number "1180". The other was identical, but the rim and button were red with hints of yellow instead of magenta.
With these, Cabal kneeled before the two twins, leaving the three youths confused, though Jeralt, while a bit stunned by this abrupt reveal, simply let this happen.
"You two are worthy of carrying his legacy. Please use it to safely guide our world to the future," Cabal requested as he lowered his head, Ryuko taking the white watch as Byleth confusingly took the red one.
Ryuko just nodded before taking the bulky item and slapped it on her waist, forming a silver belt, Byleth confusedly following suit.
=ZIKU DRIVER=
The twins then held out the watches as they turned the rims to reveal helmet faces on the similar to watches. Both had the katakana symbol on Cabal's bag reading "Kamen", both Ryuko's was mostly white with silver ticks around the face and the visor read "Rider" in magenta katakana while Byleth's has a thicker black trim around the white face with a more angular visor with yellow word for "Rider" was written in hiragana, both pressing the buttons on their watches.
=ZI-O!/GEIZ!=
With Ryuko taking initiative, the twins slammed the watches in the left sides of their respective buckles, two differently toned standby jingles (Byleth's like a bell tolls, Ryuko's being a deep bass with a clock's ticking) ringing out before they pressed the buttons on top of the drivers, causing them to tilt. Both twins posed as rings of clocks formed behind them, a flash forward to the future revealing the statue of the woman behind the black and gold figure greatly resembled Ryuko in particular with her pose, both Eisner twins preparing for the next step as they flipped their hands or clenched fists as the bandit monster glared at them with his heterochromatic eyes under the blue visors glared at them.
"HENSHIN!" both Eisner twins shouted, spinning their Drivers once around, making the rings behind them spin around them, and to some it seemed the whole world spun around the two, before the Drivers locked into place, creating a loud bell toll.
=RIDER TIME!=
First on Byleth formed a red suit with black, grey, and yellow accents, a black band down the front line a watch, and bands around wrists and ankles as the head gained a white face like the watch's face as the yellow hiragana popped out.
=*Electronic Riff* KAMEN RIDER GEIZ!=
The hiragana slammed into the Rider's helmet, forming the very angular eyes.
Then Ryuko gained a suit similar to her brother's, but it was mostly black and metallic powder blue with pink and silver accents, the visor gaining katakana in pink for the word "Rider".
=KAMEN RIDER~ ZI-O~!=
Everyone looked in shock at this sight, apart from Jeralt who just stayed on his steed as Cabal opened his book again and stood before the groups watching.
"Iwae! Zen Rider no chikara o uketsugi! Jiku o koe kako to mirai o shiroshimesu toki no ouja! Sono namae wa Kamen Rider Zi-O (REJOICE! The one to inherit all Rider powers, the ruler of time who will rule over the past and future! Her name is Kamen Rider Zi-O!)!" Cabal declared with great pride, a smile on his face as Ryuko, now Zi-O, simply glared at her opponent, while her brother Byleth, just looked at himself, touching the armor as if in shock and experiencing a dream, "And alongside her brother, Kamen Rider Geiz, they step forward into the future by defeating the Kaijin Riders... to unite the nations of Fodlan."
"How in the world…?" Byleth gawked, looking over his new armored state as Ryuko just posed, ready to take on the monster.
"Kaijin Rider… your time is up!" Zi-O declared, the monster roaring before charging at the woman.
"Ruler of time?" Geiz questioned, only for his sister to rush in at the charging monster, "Wh-Sis! WAIT!"
Zi-O didn't listen as she began to trade blows with the dragon-like monster, punches being quickly blocked repeatedly from both sides before the female gave the beast a couple roundhouse kicks to the torso. The bandits cheered for the beast who roared and created a dragon maw from his hand, sending out a blue blast that forced Zi-O to dodge.
"Whoa, she's good," the brunette in yellow admitted as he watched the female Rider attack the monster, punching it, leaping over, and punching it in the face, but this movement made him seem to recall something, "Say, do… do either of these two feel familiar in any way Dimitri?"
"Now that you mention it, Claude, they do seem to be familiar in someway. The fighting style is unorthodox even by the War Masters I've seen, and the… monster, looks similar to someone I know," the blue-clad blonde admitted, "Edelgard? Thoughts?"
"I'm in agreement, though the monster reminds me of a girl in the Empire's territory, but… something about the two feels… ominous," the woman in red, Edelgard admitted, as all people present witnessed the bout between Zi-O and the Kaijin Rider, both continuing to trade blows, although to a select few, they could briefly see in flashes an evil black and gold version of Zi-O with red visors battling other soldiers, including three mysterious armored figures.
Zi-O then knocked the silver draconic beast aside before pulling out a sword that appeared normal with a black hilt and guard and a silver blade, but it had a port similar to those on the Ziku Driver and pink Katakana for the word "Sword" (read "Ken") along the side.
=ZIKAN GIRADE! KEN!=
Zi-O then slashed at the monster, countering its own axe/sword hybrid. The two clashed repeatedly, sparks almost starting to fly from the strong blows.
"This power… it's incredible, but… why? How do I know how to fight like this?" Ryuko thought as she continued fighting as Zi-O, soon in a struggle with the monster as their blades continued clinging before the draconic beast was forced off by a golden arrow to the face, making both fighters turn to see Geiz holding a black and red bow with the spot the arrow seemed to launch from having the yellow hiragana for "bow".
=ZIKAN ZAX! YUMI!=
"I don't even know what's going on anymore, but I'm not standing by and risking my sister getting killed!" he shouted, pressing a button that made the bow collapse and form an axe blade.
=ONO!=
Geiz then rushed in and helped attack the monster with Zi-O. Their blades continued to clash and collide, but the sibling Riders managed to bypass the monster's defenses with its wild swings, hitting it where it was weaker, and then standing aside, Zi-O setting down her Zikan Grade.
"Stand back, Brother. I've got this," she assured as she pressed the button on her watch that was still on the belt.
=FINISH TIME!=
The power flowed in her as energy surged in the area, the Kaijin Rider looking to his weapon before dropping it, ignoring the tolling from the belt as Zi-O pressed the top button, making it tilt again. She then spun it once again, making the toll ring for miles.
=TIME BREAK!=
As ghostly images of both the monster and Zi-O appeared, the Kaijin Rider looked confused at where it ended up, but rushed in, not seeing the ghostly image go in reverse. Zi-O just leaped into the air, matching her ghost before flying down at it, matching a series of katakana for the word "Kick" before she made contact with the Kaijin Rider's fist, who met up with his ghost, a small explosion occurring once the heroine hit the bandit's chest, making her leap off and the monster stumble in a manner similar to his ghost until he exploded, collapsing in his human form while a black watch landed nearby, with the face having the image of the monster's face on it.
"Done," Zi-O panted, removing her watch along with Geiz, the twins reverting to their normal states in a flash of light.
"Whoa/Astounding/Remarkable," Claude, Dimitri, and Edelgard gawked in unison as Jeralt just stared at his children, impressed with their work, Cabal smiling widely at what he beheld.
"It's true… my fellow Outrealm ally was correct. This girl is truly and newly reborn as… waga maou (my overlord)," he smiled with a sense of joy just as several knights led by one in what appeared to be an axe wielder with a near ivory armor and slicked brown hair and a matching mustache that reached his chin.
"The Knights of Seiros are here! We'll cut you down for terrorizing our students!" the man leading the knights declared, only to see the bandits retreat with their leader, no one aware of one bandit grabbing the black watch as they fled, "Hey! The thieves are running away. Go after them."
The knights nodded and followed the bandits, the man in ivory making his way towards Edelgard, Dimitri, & Claude, not initially noticing Ryuko or Byleth.
"The students seem to be unharmed," he sighed with relief before turning his gaze to the Eisners and Cabal, the latter storing away his book while the knight took particular notice of the eldest Eisner, "And… who's this?"
"Ugh... why him?" Jeralt groaned, already off his steed as Byleth looked confused, Ryuko simply unsure of what was happening.
"What is it, Father?" Byleth asked, the ivory clad knight looking intently at the elder mercenary while Cabal approached.
"Captain Jeralt, sir. It appears the bandits are no longer within range of Remire Village," Cabal stated, catching the attention of the knight in ivory, who smiled upon seeing the elder mercenary.
"Captain Jeralt?!" He gawked, smiling wider after a closer look to recognize the man acting much more lively than before, "It is you! Goodness, it's been ages. Don't you recognize me? It's Alois! Your old right-hand man! Well, that's how I always thought of myself anyway. It must have been 20 years ago that you went missing without a trace! I always knew you were still alive!"
"You haven't changed a bit, Alois," Jeralt sighed, clearly not in the mood for this man's antics, and not happy that Cabal just gave his name away to the knight, "Just as loud as ever. And drop that 'captain' nonsense. I'm not your captain anymore. These days I'm just a wandering mercenary. One who has work to do. Good-bye, old friend."
"Right... good-bye, Captain."
The mercenaries were about to leave before Alois realized something.
"Wait! That isn't how this ends!" he reacted before chuckling, getting the Eisners to turn around, "I insist that you return to the monastery with me!"
"Garreg Mach Monastery... I suppose this was inevitable," Jeralt sighed, giving a slight glare to Cabal.
"And how about you, kids? Are you the captain's children?"
"No, I'm a bandit," Ryuko said in a deadpan, sarcastic manner that got Alois to chuckle heartily.
"Great sense of humor, this one. Clearly cut from the same cloth as the captain."
"In all seriousness, sir, we are Jeralt's twin children… though our appearance, as we've been told, is more from our mother's side," Byleth admitted.
"Is that so? Well, physical differences aside, your mannerisms do remind me of the captain. I'd love for you to see the monastery too. You will join me, won't you?"
"I suppose so, assuming we have a choice," Byleth shrugged.
"Sure. I'm curious about this monastery," Ryuko nodded in admittance while their father sighed.
"What's troubling you, Captain? You aren't about to run off again, are you?" Alois checked with a grin.
"Even I wouldn't dare run from the Knights of Seiros," Jeralt sighed again, walking off with Alois.
"Now Sis, we don't fully know about this place, so please do what you can to blend in. I'd suggest getting to know who we meet so we can get more allies. But don't tell them about this thing unless otherwise stated," Byleth told his sister.
"I'll do my best," Ryuko nodded.
"Who knows, maybe you'll finally open up and better understand emotions. ...I joke, but don't be afraid to interact with the others. Though, these Knights of Seiros… I don't know what it is about them, but something feels a bit… off. Be careful."
"Ok."
"I'll be back. I need to gather our supplies. Go ahead and talk with some of the others."
Ryuko nodded as Byleth left to gather their supplies, Ryuko looking to the Ziku Driver and the Zi-O watch in confusion.
"The Knights of Seiros... they do seem rather skilled," Sothis' voice suddenly said in Ryuko's head, startling her.
"You again? Where are you?" she asked, but the greenette seemed to ignore this.
"Ah. It seems your presence is required. Get going."
Ryuko just sighed, clearly not able to get much else out of her, and after pocketing her new items, she decided to approach and talk to the three students.
"I appreciate your help back there. Your skill is beyond question. You and your brother are clearly experienced mercenaries and quick to adapt, seeing those mysterious powers you demonstrated," Edelgard complimented Ryuko and her talented, getting a nod from the Eisner twin, "And your father, that would be Jeralt, the Blade Breaker? Former captain of the Knights of Seiros. Oft praised as the strongest knight to ever live. Have I missed something?"
"I must confess, I knew he was a mercenary leader and heard some word of the Knights of Seiros, but I didn't know he was a captain," Ryuko admitted with her arms crossed and a hand on her chin.
"How curious. I'd wager the explanation for that is fascinating indeed."
"It is."
"Hey! You are coming with us to the monastery, right?" Claude asked as he approached with Dimitri, Ryuko about to speak, but Claude chuckled, interrupting her, "Of course you are. I'd love to bend your ear as we travel. Oh, I should mention that the three of us are students of the Officers Academy at Garreg Mach Monastery. We were doing some training exercises when those bandits attacked. I definitely got the worst of it."
"That would be because you ran off," Edelgard scolded.
"Too true! I was the first to make a strategic retreat. Everything would have worked out if these two hadn't followed me and ruined everything. Because of them, every single one of those bandits chased after us. Utterly ridiculous."
"Ah, so that's what you were thinking, Claude," Dimitri smirked, "And here I thought you were acting as a decoy for the sake of us all."
"His intentions were as clear as day. You will prove a lacking ruler if you cannot see the truth behind a person's words," Edelgard added.
"Hm. You will prove a lacking ruler if you look for deceit behind every word and fail to trust those whom you rely on."
"Oh, joy. A royal debate between Their Highnesses," Claude shrugged, "I wonder how being completely predictable affects one's ability to wield power. Personally, as the embodiment of distrust, I'd say your little exchange smacks of naiveté."
"Me? Naïve?" Edelgard gawked in disbelief, Ryuko just standing by listening, trying to follow along, "Tell me, are you actually incapable of keeping quiet, or is your lack of self-awareness a condition of some sort?"
"Oh dear. This whole thing is making my head hurt," Ryuko thought, gripping her head.
"In any case, forgive our digression," Dimitri told the Eisner, getting her attention, "I must speak with you, if you can spare a moment. The way you held your ground against the bandits' leader was captivating! Especially considering the sudden introduction of that unique armor and sword you used. Plus, your coordination with your brother was superb."
"A… thank you… I think," Ryuko replied.
"You never lost control of the situation. It showed me I still have much to learn."
"Indeed. Your skill is precisely why I must ask you to consider lending your services to the Empire," Edelgard offered, "I might as well tell you now. I am no mere student. I am also the Adrestian Empire's–"
"Halt, Edelgard. Please allow me to finish my own proposition," Dimitri interrupted before resuming, "The Holy Kingdom of Faerghus is in dire need of exceptional individuals such as yourself. Please, do consider returning to the Kingdom with me."
"Whoa, there! You two sure are hasty. Trying to recruit someone you just met," Claude responded in a near condescending tone before resuming his cheerful demeanor, "I was personally planning to develop a deep and lasting friendship on our journey back to the monastery before begging for favors. But it seems there's no time for niceties in this world. So, capable stranger, let's get right to it. Where does your allegiance lie?"
"Hmm. It seems one's place of birth is quite significant to them. Yet they are so impressed by you, that you may take your pick," Sothis notes, leaving Ryuko in a bit of a bind since she was put on the spot so suddenly, "Well?"
"Being honest, this whole situation feels rather sudden to thrust onto a humble mercenary like myself, but I'll admit I've been willing to learn from the past. So I suppose I would side with the Adrestian Empire: Land of Ancient History," Ryuko answered, earning a smile from Edelgard.
"A wise choice. Though the Empire has fallen from its former glory, the other regions are merely offshoots that pale in comparison," the young woman in red replied with a sense of pride as Alois approached the group again.
"All right, that's enough with the small talk," the ivory armored knight informed, "It's time to head back to the monastery."
"Looks like we'll have to pick this up another time," Claude figures as he left with Dimitri and Edelgard.
"My, my. They are in such a hurry," Sothis admitted, Ryuko in agreement despite still not being used to the girl's voice in her head, "You know... each of the three is most unique."
"True, they all are. Dimitri does seem sincere… but I sense darkness lurking beneath. And Claude… striking easy smile… that oddly doesn't reach his eyes," Ryuko thought, her face blushing as she thought of the last of the students, "And then there's Edelgard. She's clearly a refined young woman… but I felt as if she's always evaluating me."
"Yes, I thought the same about each of them," Sothis admitted with a yawn soon after, "I am so sleepy once again... I may be sleeping… but I…"
Ryuko sighed, knowing she couldn't get any answers out of her for the time being. Instead, she just decided to join the others. But then she noticed Cabal talking with someone behind a tree. She decided to approach him once it was clear he was ready to go.
"Cabal? I was wondering… how exactly do you know of these things?" she inquired, showing him the items.
"Ah, Ryuko. Funny you brought that up. Remember I am from the Outrealms where these are more common. My previous superior was a master with them," Cabal informed.
"But how do I know how to fight using the armor granted?"
"Perhaps it was your own combat experience combined with some other power we have yet to discover. That would be worth looking into, though. For now, all you need to know is that this power is vital for what is to come."
"That doesn't help that much, but… ok," Ryuko sighed.
"I apologize, but it will make sense with time. For now, it's best if we keep the potential of the powers between you, me, and my friend. Your brother and father don't know the full extent," Cabal assured, "But since we're to work together more in the future, perhaps you deserve to know my real name."
"You mean… you're not really called Cabal Wok Izmir?"
"That's just a pseudonym for my life here and to keep hidden. For the hero known as Kamen Rider Zi-O, I am known as Woz… Mirai Black Woz. And from this day on, I hope to serve you well… waga maou…"
Ryuko was surprised by this name and title as Woz smiled.
"For now, let us move on. It appears we have a long trek to the monastery," Woz answered, "Just call me either Cabal or Woz if you need me."
And so the team began their journey across Fodlan, not knowing yet another figure was standing in the shadows.
"So, it would seem someone is attempting to create a new path for destiny. Well, no matter. Nothing will change the outcome… the faith in the goddess will die with this generation, and the Saints shall be no more," he muttered, grinning evilly as he held up a book with a black cover littered with ancient symbols, "After all, the true determined path has already been set in stone."
Despite this figure's boastings, no one truly knew just how the new factors would affect the final outcome. The matters could become rather serious, and yet no one knows who will win or die. Is destiny truly set in stone, or could it possibly be changed?

*As the instrumental begins, the logos of the different Fire Emblem games & Heisei Kamen Rider seasons flashed on screen before ending on the following*
Fire Emblem Three Houses
X
Kamen Rider Zi-O
With a continent divided, the Heisei Emblem Riders passed through this Era. It's time to pass this power down to a unified future. Rejoice at the birth of the new ruler!
Oh yeah~. Oh~! *As the narration proceeded, we see a field where the 24 Fire Emblem Riders were frozen in combat, Claude, Dimitri and Edelgard looking in confusion and shock, each soon seeing Kamen Riders Zi-O and Geiz before shots of time rewinding were seen as Zi-O's visor slapped into place, the camera then focused on Ryuko in Garegg Mach Monastery*
Isshun de tsukamitoru no sa (Catch it in an instant!) Are you ready? (Are you lazy?) *Ryuko reached for the clock as she saw Sothis, only to flip her hand down, the greenette smiling as the mortal girl walked off, her environment spinning around her*
Atarashī rekishi wa soko ni (That's where the new history is!) Feel it! Feel it!
(Crazy baby!) *Byleth was seen talking to his fellow mercenaries before looking toward the monastery, walking towards it with a flick of his own arm, equally making his environment spin like around his sister, before Edelgard, Dimitri, and Claude were seen walking right, left, and towards the screen, the screen also rotating like the Eisner twins'*
Hikari wo kate ni kasokushite (Use your bonds of light to accelerate) *A double shot of the past and present showed the battle between Nemesis and Seiros in 91 while also showing a torn cloak flying past the statue of Ryuko in the year 1200, the cloak landing on the ground as the black and gold foot of Ohma Zi-O stepped in*
Konomama (Just keep at it!) Shout it out! Shout it out! *Ohma Zi-O's helmet could be seen with a flash of the visor as both past (91) and future (1200) were seen on either side of it, before a shot of Ryuko, Byleth, Edelgard, Dimitri and Claude was shown as they looked at a collection of Ridewatches before looking up in shock at something above them*
Ima wo susume yō (Let's keep going in the present) *Woz is then seen walking through an Outrealm portal with his book in tow, as he shifts from his normal appearance to that of Cabal*
Madō hi mo Ikudo tonaku, Asu no tobira tatake (There will be confusing days, but knock on the door to tomorrow) *A shot of a dark scene showed four figures who flashed between a more normal appearance and one where they had pale skin and dark clothes, all with their backs to the viewer as one similar figure, who flashed between a normal person in a uniform similar to Dimitri and Claude, to one more menacing look with lightning blue hair, moving with afterimages while grinning before zipping away. This was followed by a shot from a book describing events that would happen in the story, a shot revealing Woz/Cabal was observing these events with a couple figures in shadow, as the book also revealed the tyranny of Ohma Zi-O, before a quick shot of the Ridewatches activating was seen*
Mitsumeta sono saki ni Tobikonde mitara (Just plunge into what's ahead of you!) Believe Yourself! *With a shot of the statue from the future crumbling, it's intercut with a shot of Byleth activating his Geiz Ridewatch before another angle of the statue was seen, the stone crumbling to show the Emblem Riders underneath. Ryuko's seen activating her Zi-O Ridewatch as the central figure of the 1200 statue cracks and shines a pink light before crumbling around Ohma Zi-O, whose eyes continued to glow the same bright red. This is ended with a shot of Ryuko mouthing "Henshin" as she prepared to transform.*
Now, Over "Quartzer" *Ryuko spun her Ziku Driver as she quickly transformed into Zi-O*
Toki no ame Surinukete Tomo ni (Let's slip through the torrents of time together) *Zi-O and Geiz charged on their mounts as a shot of a clock damaged in Garegg Mach was shown with figures walking away while showing three silhouettes of battle-worn figures, all before Geiz and Zi-O zipped across the field with the frozen Emblem Riders, time suddenly resuming as the 24 Emblem Riders concluded their finishing attacks*
You, Over "Quartzer" *Zi-O then rode out of the flames in an epic fashion*
Mirai wo koe yō (Let's cross over to the future) *Zi-O was seen in some kind of Golem, piloting it to attack a Demonic Beast as the spinning shots of Ryuko, Byleth, Edelgard, Dimitri, and Claude stopped spinning, each being looking to the reader before another shot of the three nobles were seen alongside Zi-O and Geiz*
Kako no ishi wa Uso de wa azamuke nai (Lies can not fool the will of the past) *Each of the five unknowingly followed a series of afterimage Crests as if fate told them to follow, which they did.*
Kanjiro sō Nexus Future (Feel it in your bones! The Nexus Future) *Edelgard, Dimitri, and Claude stared each other down as if to spar, unknowing of the five pale figures in black before glitches made the five vanish, the three nobles glitched briefly into older, more tortured forms*
Now, Over "Quartzer" *Zi-O and Geiz both finished off some monsters/bandits using their respective weapons*
Mabayui sekai (That dazzling world...) *The Riders of the story leaped up and kicked down at the screen before the titles and logos of the aforementioned Fire Emblem and Kamen Rider shows flashed and merged into the show's current title*

Three Houses, One Nation
Jikai, Three Houses, One Nation…
?: With the Outrealms influencing adjacent realms, ours appears to finally be feeling the ripple effects.
Byleth: Cabal, are you sure it's wise to walk with us? It's a bit awkward at the moment
Cabal: It's best to understand who you'll be cooperating with
Dimitri: I'd be happy to show you all around.
Claude: It really is Fodlan in a nutshell.
Edelgard: There it is. Garreg Mach monastery.
Jeralt: Rhea's here.
?: From the bottom of my heart, I thank you for saving those students of the Officers Academy.
Ryuko: Why me?
Jeralt: They want you to teach, by the sound of it.
Ryuko: Is she the one that Kaijin channeled power from back outside Remire?
Woz: The powers of the Riders were not originally intended for our world or in the Outrealms connected to Fodlan.
Chapter 1: Three Houses
The Time has Come!
KKD: That took longer than expected. For perspective, I began work on this sometime after I got the game on September 23rd last year. Now we're about a quarter way into 2020, and I only just got this first chapter posted. I kinda wanted to wait until I looked over the game as a whole, but a lot more work is going to need to be put into the game before I can fully review it or finish the game. But at the very least, I need to get this first chapter posted sometime this month. Still, this was a good chapter, and my favorite was when Ryuko unlocked her power as a Rider after learning of the time reversal with Sothis. And for the record, I was kinda into Kill la Kill when I came up with that name, but it is my name for the female Byleth, who is the canonical Byleth to me. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this, Crossover Kingdom. Until next time, be sure to fav and review this story, and until then, ore wa KKD Silver. *salutes* Jaa ne.
