First story I've ever written. I hope ya'll enjoy. Will update as frequently as I can. I'm English so I apologize if some terms don't sound correct. Please review! Enjoy! I do not own Chuck.

"Again!"

The voice rang through the darkness of an early morning. A short teen with floppy hair and a beard, started sprinting towards a bright orange cone. Nearly there, he swiftly turned around and a ball came flying towards his chest. Quickly the boy chested it down to his feet, took a touch with his left, and then fired it with his right towards a tall figure standing inside the box.

The ball was bearing down on the top corner, when suddenly the figure sprung into action quickly coming across, jumping, and just getting enough of a touch to divert it over the crossbar.

Chuck hit the cold wet grass with an oof.

The short teen ran over to Chuck looking apologetic.

"Chuck you alright?"

Chuck grunted before getting up with a grin.

"Yeah Morgan. Great shot, you almost had me. You keep getting shots like that on the pitch, Big Mike will have to put you on the wing."

Morgan gave an embarrassed grin.

"Yeah I'm not sure about that Chuck. I'm just trying to start. Plus being an outside back is fine with me. I'm only here because you decided you wanted one more early practice before the official start of our senior year."

Chuck gave a sheepish grin at the statement.
"Yeah thanks buddy! I really needed it. I know you're not really a morning person. Nor one to put in extra work if you can help it."

Morgan just waved his hand at the comment. Chuck knew Morgan didn't really mind. The short bearded teen had been his best friend since as long as he could remember. Even when things looked like they couldn't get any worse, Morgan was always there to remind him that someone outside of his sister was in his corner. Watching his back.

"Alright, I say we call it Chuck. The sun will be coming up and I wanna take a shower. You never know what kind of good looking girls will want a piece of this." He said gesturing to his… well everywhere.

Chuck laughed while watching the steam escape from his mouth.

"Oh yeah, forsure." Chuck sarcastically replied as he stripped off his gloves. Both Chuck and Morgan proceeded to pick up their gear and cones between snippets of banter.

Morgan then proceeded to drop Chuck off at his house.

"I'll be back in half an hour. I'll text you when I'm outside."

Chuck nodded his thanks. Just as he closed the door, Morgan exclaimed:

"Oh and Chuck, say hi to Ellie for me!" He winked and then drove off.

Chuck shook his head smiling in amusement. Morgan had had an infatuation with his older sister since they were tiny. Well, tinier for Morgan.

Letting out a sigh he dropped his smile. Keeping a happy persona was becoming more taxing as each day passed. Pushing those thoughts aside he dragged his feet into his apartment complex.

"Ellie?"

No response came. She must be out on a morning jog.

Chuck dropped his duffle of gear and headed to the kitchen to dig up something to eat. Pulling out a bowl and some cereal. He left it and headed to the bathroom turning on the shower.

Once he'd showered and changed into some fresher clothes, he came back out into the kitchen. Awaiting him, sitting at one of the chairs in the dining room table was Eleanor Bartowski.

Checking his phone for the time, he read 7:15. He took a seat where he'd laid out his cereal and began to shovel bits of corn flakes into his mouth.

"You're gonna choke if you keep up that speed."

"Good thing we've got a doctor in the house then." Chuck retorted grinning.

"Smart ass." Ellie stated, but couldn't hide the smile.

"Morgan says hi by the way."

Ellie's face turned into a look of disgust. Despite Morgan being his best friend, Ellie disliked his dwarfish buddy. Secretly Chuck knew though, that she would forever be grateful for Morgan. He had been his sole company for most of his life. Filling in when Ellie couldn't be there.

"Tell him to stop texting me." Ellie exclaimed. "He keeps sending me bad pickup lines with memes of football and Star Wars characters."

Chuck laughed. Despite being a footballer, Chuck was first and foremost a nerd. That could be the main reason Morgan, a fellow nerd athlete, and him got along so well. Along with one other who Chuck was still shocked to call a best friend.

Bryce Larkin.

The same Bryce that every girl wanted to date. The same Bryce that was one of the best young football talents in the country. The guy that reminded Chuck that god really did choose favorites. He had the looks, talent, suave, and as a bonus was a major nerd.

During tryouts, freshman year, was when he'd first met Bryce. He had cursed in Klingon when Bryce had scored against him in a scrimmage. Imagine Chuck's surprise when instead of dissing him, Bryce responded back in Klingon. One of the nerdiest languages ever from Star Trek! Ever since then Bryce had become one of his closest friends, despite the social cliches found in every high school.

Chuck returned out of his musings when his phone buzzed. He quickly turned it expecting Morgan's text.

"Speak of the devil." Chuck murmured when it was none other than Bryce.

He quickly scanned through the message becoming more alarmed as he read each sentence.
Ellie sensing his alarm asked him what was wrong.

"Half the team has left for Fulcrum… Tommy, Panzer, Vincent, Frank and a few others. That means we're missing our center back, left back, mid-fielder, keeper, and… "

"Aw no. Chuck I'm sorry. Well on the bright side now that Hugo is gone, you might be starting for your senior year!" Ellie said brightly.

Chuck just nodded in silence. This was a lot to take in. What Ellie had said was the main reason Bryce had sent the text. To congratulate him on his chances of being the starting keeper. Despite his immense happiness, he was upset. The teammates he had just lost were crucial to Buymore High's amazing record last year. They'd almost won the league with many of their players being scouted by big colleges. They'd lost out to Fulcrum by four points, and now it looked like Fulcrum High would steal their main source of hope for this season as well. Their defense had been number one in the league last year and now most of that defense was gone.

Chuck sighed. This was gonna be a long day.

A few minutes later Chuck's phone buzzed again. This time it was Morgan.

Chuck quickly picked up his backpack and duffle bag, kissed Ellie on the cheek, and started to rush to the front door.

"Why are you bringing your gear? It's the first day of school. The season doesn't start for months!" Ellie inquired.

"Yeah but I wanna get some practice sessions after school with Bryce and Morgan. Now that we have half the team gone, I don't know what we're gonna do so I should be prepared for everything. Especially if I'm gonna be the starting keeper. I'm sure that Big Mike has an announcement he wants to make anyways."

"Oh okay. Don't be late for dinner, and Chuck?"

Chuck looked anxiously at his older sister.

"Have a fantastic day. You're almost done. Mum and dad would be proud" Ellie said with a sad smile.

Chuck gave Ellie a half smile.

"Love you El!" Chuck said as he dashed through the front door.

As he swiftly closed the door he heard a faint 'love you too' float to his ears. He smiled a sad smile before putting on his mask again. The things on his mind would have to wait. He had a huge day in front of him, and maybe, just maybe he'd see her.
