Chapter 1: heart
I have told many stories all with the same name a name so simple, why many would ask? Well the sea, is different each time.
Each time it changes creates destroyed. Everything in the world honestly I'm not executing I live with my parents.
My job is simple I work at a boring job but I want excitement I want a life. I want to be a hero. Who wouldn't?
I want to save the world.
-In a different time-
Marissa was watching her tv as she waited for her friend Allison to get on her boring job. Of course, waiting for life to pick up was so tedious.
Miraculous Ladybug was a good show. Seeing Adrien and Marinette jump around as Ladybug and Cat Noir was always entertaining.
"I'm here!" Allison called, arriving just in time.
She smiled at her. "Hey, Allison, how's life?"
Allison shrugged and said, "Same old, same old. Plus I got called in on my day off to fill in for Reggie, who's apparently sick. Luckily, my work is on the way to yours. Hey, is that Miraculous?"
"Yes. I'm fantasizing about Adrien." Marissa said in a simple tone scratching the dreamy boy while playing some music.
"I can understand," said Allison, smiling at her. And then she remembered something. "Oh! On the way home, I stopped at a stand selling DVDs and got this. I think it's a special edition Miraculous DVD."
Allison pulled a DVD out of her purse. It had Miraculous on the cover, and Ladybug and Cat Noir's pictures, but it looked different. Marissa looked at it. It kinda reminded her of some of the stories they made.
"We could watch it if you want," Allison offered. "I mean, we have time."
"Yeah, I guess. But this kinda feels strange." She popped out the DVD she had in. Then gestured for her to go for it. Most of the time they weren't busy anyway so her boss wouldn't notice.
"What's so strange about it?" Allison asked. "Is it because it's probably hot?"
"Is it hot? Are DVDs hot because that made zero sense." She waved it off. "I'm just saying some person sold it to you at a stand it could be a pirated copy."
"Hot means it was obtained illegally. Like the guy stole a bunch and is selling them before the official release," Allison clarified, with her hands on her hips.
"Ok, I don't do slang, Allison. Unless it's like yo and lit," said Marissa.
"You also don't like my Miss Martian impression," said Allison while taking the remote. "You want me to play the theme song or skip it?"
"I love singing though and drawing. And yes wanna hear the theme song. Hey, you about the latest Coronavirus case in New York?"
"Yes. I heard. Jeez," said Allison, shuddering. "I hope that guy gets some help from his doctor."
"Great not you too it would probably only kill you if your immune system is weak like the elderly or very young kids."
"Oh, I know," Allison said. "I just found it unsettling."
"Sorry. I've been getting shit all day. The others here think this place is gonna be closed soon since the scare." She banged her head on the shelf.
Allison patted her back and said, "Hey, it's okay. I only get nervous about my mother. Her immune system isn't the strongest. That's why we take precautions at home."
"Nothing too crazy I hope; some people get really weird about this. All you have to do is wash your hands and make sure everything is clean. You yourself should be fine, as should your other siblings around your mother." She pulled out the hand sanitizer.
"Thanks," Allison said while accepting the bottle. "This virus is having my parents and I remind my siblings to take cleanliness seriously. My little brother thought he could get away with not washing his hands before dinner. Ha! Dad saw right through that. Dope."
"I get it. My family doesn't normally get illnesses like these. My sister was exposed to her classmates who had the flu and chickenpox and didn't get either. I and her are never gonna get shingles. So we don't worry too much. Just make sure to wash our hands when we go to the bathroom and such."
"I'm told I'm not likely to get shingles. But that doesn't appear until you're older-" Allison said, and then trailed off when she saw the TV. "What is that?"
The tv shifted making them both disappear into the darkness.
-Paris-
Marissa awoke in a bed so unlike her own it was comfy and soft. She got up and looked around. The entire room looked different from her old one. There was a canopy bed, two dressers made from what appeared to be mahogany, same for the nightstand, which held a pretty looking lamp. Over to the side was a tall nicely decorated mirror. She got up and looked at her reflection, which was also different.
Her hair was long and went down to her knees, with one red streak in her bangs. Her eyes were blue. She was wearing soft blue pajamas. But the most noticeable thing was her age; she was younger! 14 at least!
She went to the draw. She pulled out a red and dark brown coat with stripes, a t-shirt with the name of a strange band she never heard of. Light brown shorts with a white pant leg. A red belt. One red stocking and one fishnet stocking and ten-inch high heeled ankle boots.
"Marissa, are you up yet?" asked a woman's voice.
"Yeah, I'm coming just let me get dressed!" She shouted unsure who it was.
"Okay! Breakfast will be served in ten minutes, darling," said the woman. Marissa wondered what was going on when the maids came in freaking the hell out Marissa. They came closer and closer.
Until a scream rang out of the house.
-Hours later-
Marissa felt violated. The maids had striped her and clothed her. Like she was some royal family.
"You look wonderful, my darling," said an adult woman who seemed to resemble her.
"Hi….mom…," she said.
"Your concert tonight is sure to be a success," said her mother, smiling.
Marissa was taking a glass of water when spat coughing a little at that. "Oh really I…. I had completely forgotten."
Her mother shook her head and said, "That's okay. You'll have plenty of time to practice. Before that, you have school today."
"Right I should get going." She walked off, out the door and got into a limo that drove off.
School
Marissa looked outside watching the clouds and buildings pass by. The gorgeous sky reminded her of those days she would sing by herself.
Once the car stopped her bodyguard came out and opened the door she swiftly unbuckled her seat belt and walked out. Going up to the building and inside.
"Keep your guard up, miss. You never know what could jump out," said her bodyguard.
"Uh….. I think you're being overdramatic besides there's someone here I have a crush on and plan to ask him out." Marissa bluntly said she looked determined.
"Already?" a familiar voice asked.
Marissa turned around and saw a young girl, who was shorter than her, with blonde hair just past her shoulders and green eyes. She wore a purple tank top, black capris, dark brown flats, and held her hair back with a pink headband with flowers. She looked different, but it was clear who she was. Only one person loved flower headbands that much. And was that short.
She looked super happy before hugging her. "Finally. I can hug you without worry, my adorable shorty."
"Seriously, Mari? You're bringing up my height now?" Allison asked, pouting a little.
"But you're so super cute being so short." She gushed.
"Now I know how Edward Elric feels," Allison groaned.
"Excuse me, do you know her?" Marissa's bodyguard asked.
"Yes, she's my online bestie we met at a cafe last year. " Marissa counted to rub her cheek against Allison.
"Yes. I also came up with that cool album cover from last year," said Allison.
The guard looked her up and down Marissa was a 6'3 and Allison was obviously 5'0. This girl obviously couldn't hurt anyone. 'And the kid scrawny. She couldn't harm a fly. This is fine.'
"Alright. I'll leave you to it," said the guard. "Enjoy class, miss Marissa. And you miss-um-"
"Fluorette. Allison Fluorette," said Allison with a smile.
"Yes. Miss Fluorette," said the bodyguard before walking away.
"So, you're already planning on hitting on Adrien?" Allison asked.
"I do and guess what, guess who's my aunt."
"Clara Nightingale?" Allison asked in a joking manner.
"No. Nice one though. Nathalie," said Marissa.
"Nathalie?" Allison asked. "Gabriel Agreste's assistant? You're related to her?"
"Yes." She punched her hair In the air. "I'm so in."
"Nice," said Allison, grinning. "I'll totally help out in any way I can. I can even get you two the best dating location. My dad owns a very successful restaurant here."
"And whatever guy you like I'll help you any way I can. My dad's hotel rooms are very romantic."
"Sounds fabulous," Allison happily said. "Okay, step one is the approach."
"You know me. I'll just go for it. I'm famous after all." She smiled sweetly.
"Target at four o'clock," said Allison, pointing at Adrien, who was talking with Nino. And then she saw Chloe and Sabrina nearby. "And possible interference."
"Deal with them, okay, Lucifer?" Marissa said to her bodyguard while making her move.
"Yes, miss," said Lucifer, bowing before going to keep Chloe at bay.
"Oh hi, Adrien!" Marissa shouted running up to him.
The two boys saw her and blinked. "Dude, you know Marissa?!"
"I…. Guess she knows me," said Adrien. "Have you seen my father's ad's, Marissa?"
The girl came up and hugged him. "My aunt brought me over to your house when I was younger and when I first met you, you were the nicest boy," Marissa said in excitement. "It's so nice to see you again older."
Adrien blinked as he realized something. "You're Nathalie's niece Marissa?! Wow! You've really changed. Your hair was a lot shorter then."
"Yeah. I know and you're so much cuter now. Do you remember that promise we made when we were kids?" Marissa smiled oh this was gonna be fun.
Adrien blushed and Nino looked curious. "What promise, bud?"
"It's not a big deal," Adrien said in embarrassment. "Not in public."
"He was so lonely when he was younger and when I came one day I saved his favorite toy. Then and there, he promised to marry me! He was so sweet and so close. Even now he makes my heart skip a beat."
"Marissa," Adrien whispered.
"Dude!" Nino laughed. "I can't believe you never mentioned this since we met!"
"I can't believe what I'm hearing! Ah!" Chloe screamed as Lucifer held her back. "This is ridiculous! Utterly ridiculous!"
"Oh that reminds me, Adrien, I wish to ask you out on a date. After class. I'll even call my aunt to inform your father." Marissa sweetly said.
"Marissa, you don't have to do that," said Adrien.
"You have a point," said Nino. "You should be asking her!"
"Nino!" Adrien shouted.
"Too late! I called her," Allison said from the sidelines. Giving an 'I got you girl' thumbs up. "If you'll excuse me, I need to book a table for you two."
"You're friends with Allie?" Nino asked Marissa. "Her dad's restaurant is a major celebrity hot spot. And I hear it can be super exclusive."
"She's my best friend. But I've been like ten times. Its food is amazing." She gushed happily. She kissed Adrien on the lips before pulling away once Allison took a picture. "See you there, my love." She ran into the school.
"What just happened?" Adrien asked.
"You got a date with Marissa, that's what!" Nino said, slapping his back.
"How did that happen…." He said, still in shock.
"That girl is bold," Nino casually said as he led him inside. Lucifer went in after one last word to the girls.
"Seems miss won. I no longer need to bother with you two." He smirked, happy that Marissa was happy.
Chloe growled in fury. "I don't care how famous she is. She is not getting away with this."
"Uh, Chloe, we should hurry or we'll be late," Sabrina nervously said.
"Whatever!" Chloe shouted, stomping her foot before entering. "I'll just win Adrikins back to me in class! What are the odds she's even in our class, right?"
"Right," said Sabrina, laughing nervously.
-In class-
Marissa knew Chloe was gonna mess with her so she had a plan to get her suspended for a while. All she needed was for her expensive necklace to disappear. One her dead grandmother gave her. She sat next to Adrien asking Nino to take his spot. "Thanks again. It was so nice of you. You're so sweet."
"Aw, shucks," said Nino, embarrassed.
"Omg! You're Marissa!" Alya excitedly said, pulling out her phone. "Can I get an interview?!"
Marissa smiled at her playing with her locket so she would notice it. "Of course. Anything for such a lovely girl."
Alya started recording and then spoke. "I'm here at my school with a new transfer student. But she's not just any student, no. She is the one and only, Marissa!" Alya pointed her phone at her.
"Hi, everyone. It's such a pleasure to be here especially with such a wonderful girl." She waved with a huge smile.
Alya laughed and said, "You're too kind."
"Well, how can I not be with such wonderful fans? It's all thanks to people like you and them that I am where I am."
"Yes. I hear you're climbing up the charts along with Jagged Stone and Mr. XY," said Alya. "It's looking neck and neck."
"Actually. I surpassed them because my music is so many different genres and I'm considered number one in almost every country," Marissa replied.
"That's very impressive," said Alya. "Though there are some who are pretty cynical who assume you're big because your mother owns the company that produces your albums. Care to comment?"
"My mother only works with the best. She's stern and kind, but if I didn't have talent she wouldn't have bothered. I assure you it's my own skills that got me where I am and my fans of course."
"You know, Marissa, there's been a rumor going around a lot of high schools. Maybe you could settle it?" Alya asked.
"Of course," said Marissa. "What is it?"
Alya hesitated for a moment and then asked, "Did you really date Mr. XY at one point?"
"No. I actually had love for another boy and decided to save myself for him. Adrien Agreste. He was my first and only love. Ever since I was six and we made a promise."
The whole class stared in shock. Marinette, who was next to Alya, nearly fainted. This was so big, Kim and Alix paused just as Kim was handing money to her; they had previously bet on whether or not the rumor was true.
"So you're in love with Adrien Agreste?" Alya asked.
"Yes, when I was younger I was pretty lonely. No one wanted to be friends with me because of my family but then my aunt took me with her to work and I met Adrien and he was so sweet and kind he made me feel safe and like there was someone I could depend on." Marissa was blushing. "I love him because he's him. He makes me feel like I don't have to worry about my problems because he'll be there."
Everyone was so touched by that declaration of love.
"That's beautiful, Marissa," said Alya.
"Oh thank you. But I really should be thanking you and the rest of the class. You've all been so kind to Adrien and made him feel less lonely so thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of your great friendship." She held her locket as she said that.
"And we'll treat you the same way," said Alya. "So, where do you get the inspiration for your music? Is it a secret?"
"No. Not really. I get it from life in general. And other people like my fans and other couples. Stuff that gives both joy and sadness. But, see this necklace? It's from my grandmother. When she died I was so sad so I took my utmost care of it. It's actually because of this locket that I made a song for her."
"A song just for your grandmother?" Alya asked, sighing. "That's beautiful."
"Will you sing at the concert tonight?" Marinette asked. She blinked when she saw Alya pointing the phone at her. "Oh. Sorry. I didn't mean to interrupt."
"Unfortunately it's not one of the songs I'll be singing. But I can sing it now if you want." She suggested with a gentle smile.
The entire class eagerly nodded. On that note, Lucifer handed Marissa her guitar. After a little tuning, Marissa strummed and started singing.
Every day when school got out
I'd get off the bus and I'd run down
That old dirt road where you were waiting for me On the front porch in that blue swing
You'd be smiling and we would sing
Amazing Grace and Jesus Loves Me
You were like my mother
You were my best friend
You were everything I want to be
And all the good inside of me
There's never been
Never been another
That loved me like you did
My grandmother, my angel
Even though I can't touch your face
I feel you with me everyday
I wish you could see all my dreams coming true
When I get lost I close my eyes
And I feel you shining down so bright
I feel you shining down on me
You were like my mother
You were my best friend
You were everything I want to be
And all the good inside of me
There's never been
Never been another
That loved me like you did
My grandmother, my angel
You were like my mother
You were my best friend
You were everything I want to be
And all the good inside of me
There's never been
Never been another
That loved me like you did
My grandmother, my angel
My angel
Once she finished singing and smiled happily. The entire class started tearing up. She wrote such a beautiful song about her grandmother.
"You really miss her, don't you?" Alya asked.
"Of course this necklace reminds me so much of her if anything happened to it. I'd be heartbroken." She held it happily.
"Only a monster would do anything to hurt you," Allison remarked. "I'd say your mother would make anyone pay if they hurt you. "
Chole glared angrily at them. Which Marissa noticed and Allison took a secret recording of them talking.
"I swear, Sabrina, I'm gonna get revenge on this girl by any means necessary," Chloe said.
"What are you gonna do, Chloe?" Sabrina asked.
Chloe cackled and said, "Oh, I'll think of something." This was when Allison stopped recording.
As if on cue, Ms. Bustier arrived in class and faced the class.
"Good morning, students," said Ms. Bustier. "As you've probably noticed, we have a new student joining us. She's pretty well-known. And you all seem to have already met and welcomed Marissa. So let's begin."
Marissa raised her hand. Ms. Bustier noticed, so she took her question.
"May I put my locket in my locker, Ms. Bustier? I don't want it to get lost if I put it away in my backpack; there's so much stuff in there and it could be damaged by accident."
"Oh. Of course," said Ms. Bustier. "Go ahead. I'll have a student take notes for you."
"Thank you," said Marissa as she got up. Lucifer watched her leave. Chloe had to go to the bathroom a little bit afterward. Returning an hour later after Marissa did.
Allison hours later asked to go to the bathroom and returned. She gave Marissa a secret nod as Ms. Bustier taught the class.
-Hours later-
Marissa went into her locker and noticed her locker was open. She looked around and so she screamed and started to cry.
"What's wrong, Marissa?" Marinette asked in concern.
"My necklace is missing." Marissa cried then Lucifer came over and looked at the locker for a moment. There was a small dent by the lock like someone pried it open.
"It was forced open. Which means we have a thief here," he said.
Everyone was shocked by this. Chloe was unfazed by this, mainly because she disliked Marissa.
"I bet it was Chloe. She said she was going to get revenge on Marissa for a guy who wasn't even hers." Allison announced.
"What?! That is utterly ridiculous! And I'm leaving!" Chloe turned on her heel and got ready to leave when Lucifer grabbed her arm. "Get your hands off me! My father's the mayor of Paris and he will not stand for this harassment!"
"All suspects are remaining here," said Lucifer. "Even you."
"I have evidence, a recording," Allison said. "And even if you are, you're not above the law theft is extremely illegal. You could go to jail or at least juvie."
"What is going on in here?!" asked the principal, Mr. Damocles, arriving just in time.
"Someone broke into Marissa's locker," said Max.
"And Chloe's the prime suspect for some reason," said Sabrina.
"She a) has motive b) has opportunity and c) is acting suspiciously," said Lucifer.
"How was I acting suspiciously? I saw Marinette clutching her bag tightly," Chloe said, pointing at the girl.
"Yes but she has no motive," Allison said. She played the recording of Chloe and Sabrina.
"I swear, Sabrina, I'm gonna get revenge on this girl by any means necessary," Chloe said.
"What are you gonna do, Chloe?" Sabrina asked.
Chloe cackled and said, "Oh, I'll think of something."
Everyone stared at the phone with wide eyes. The principal glared at Chloe, who was equally shocked.
"That wasn't what I meant! Honest!" Chloe said in defense. And then she glared at Allison. "And you were recording my private conversation?!"
"Sure it wasn't. You're just a brat who doesn't care about anyone's feelings. Even an extremely nice person like Marissa and I do have online web vids about who to friend and who not to so I didn't know what I get. I just happened to get your conversation." Allison said.
"I was talking about pranking Marissa, not stealing her cheap necklace," Chloe rudely said.
"It's worth 2800 American dollars," said Allison.
Most of the class did not get that. And then Max looked it up and saw how much that was in Euros.
"That's 2601.38 Euro," he said, surprising everyone.
"It's also a family heirloom," said Marinette.
"Her great great great grandmother handed it down to her granddaughter and so on and it was the last thing Marissa received before her grandmother died. Not that you'd understand that Chloe. Your mother doesn't even care for you much less your grandmother if you even have one." Allison coldly said.
Chloe growled. "Don't bring my family into this!"
"Enough!" Mr. Damocles shouted. "Now, seeing as there was indeed a theft here, everyone will be searched. Please form a line and present your bags."
The students got into a line. Adrien was at the front by the time the line was formed, so he was first. Mr. Damocles found nothing other than school books, pencils, pens, and, curiously, a container of camembert cheese.
"I was gonna eat that with some crackers," Adrien said in embarrassment, mentally cursing out Plagg.
"You're clear, Adrien. Next," said Mr. Damocles as he handed over the bag.
Marinette was checked next. As was her purse. He only found school supplies as well along with her sketchbook. In her purse was a few cookies. Marinette gave an innocent smile. He also noticed something else.
"Is this why you were clutching your bag?" he asked, showing the strap, which was ripped.
"Yeah. I'm gonna fix that at home," said Marinette, accepting her purse back.
"I could buy you one if you want." Marissa offered.
"That's very kind of you. But I actually made this one by hand," said Marinette. "It's pretty durable, except when I'm not paying attention when I'm handling scissors in art class. Heh heh."
"Oh how about you and me go to a fabric shop. I know this really great stuff that could help patch it up and is very strong." Marissa offered.
"Sure!" said Marinette, smiling.
"Ugh. Those two are so ridiculous," Chloe said while handing over her handbag.
Mr. Damocles looked inside. At first, nothing was out of the ordinary. But then he found something that made him look suspicious. It was a dented screwdriver.
"Chloe, explain yourself," the principal demanded.
"That isn't mine! I have no idea how that got in there!" Chloe angrily said. And then she pulled out her phone. "My father won't be happy with these accusations. Hey!"
Lucifer quickly grabbed her phone. "Only the principal will call him."
"I'm telling you, it wasn't me!" Chloe declared. "I don't have her stupid necklace!"
"Open your locker, Chloe," said Mr. Damocles.
Chloe groaned and said, "Fine. But don't blame me if you look like a fool."
Chloe opened her locker and stood next to it. She seemed confident that the principal would find nothing. He seemed to be having no luck. The students were busy consoling the seemingly saddened Marissa.
"Don't worry. We'll find it," Alya assured her. "That little thief won't get away with this."
Once it was open though her necklace fell out of Chloe's locker. Everyone was shocked, including Chloe.
Mr. Damocles picked it up and showed Marissa. "Is this your grandmother's locket?"
"Yes that's it," Marissa looked happy hugging him. "Thank you so much for finding it."
"I can't believe this! I never put that in my locker!" Chloe shouted. "You have to believe me! Adrikins, you, believe me, right?"
Chloe gave Adrien a hopeful look. Adrien was speechless
"I do," Marissa said, trying to help. "But it's also hard to believe you're not. I mean how did it get there, then? Is your locker bent like mine."
"Well, no. But-" Chloe started to say.
"Chloe, you're just trying to make Marissa help you get away with stealing." Allison accused. "Marissa, I think we should call your mom and tell her; she'll definitely wanna press charges."
"But it wasn't me! Someone's framing me!" Chloe shouted.
Mr. Damocles loomed over her and said, "Chloe Bourgeois, you are hereby suspended from this school for one week! I will contact your father with the news."
Chloe gasped in shock. Everyone looked at the blonde in disbelief. However, there was little they could do but leave.
Lunch
Marissa took a seat at the side while Allison pulled Lucifer to the side. "So I need you to make sure her mom doesn't press charges or at least try…."
"I'll do my best. But I make no promises," said Lucifer.
"The reason I ask is that I'm the one who put it in her locker. I didn't like Chloe and I know Marissa would've done it herself. But I didn't want her to feel guilty later so I did it so Chloe wouldn't hurt her and this way she had deniability." Allison explained in a serious tone.
Lucifer looked at Allison. And then he placed his hand on her head and said, "You shall not be blamed. As for that Chloe girl, she deserved what she got for abusing her status as the mayor's daughter."
She smiled thanking Lucifer hoping Chloe would at least not go to juvie. She was a brat, but not even she deserved to go to juvie for something she did not do.
"Hey, Marissa!" Adrien called.
"Hey, Adrien. How are you?" Marissa smiled, waving to him. She looked so happy right now.
Adrien sighed and said, "Not too happy with what happened to Chloe. I mean, I know she's not perfect, but I never thought she'd steal."
"I'm not sure what you mean but I'm still not sure she did it." Marissa looked unsure but she didn't do it either which was surprising but she got what she wanted so she wouldn't push it.
Adrien took her hand and said, "Events aside, I'm glad I get to spend time with you again."
"You too," She smiled sweetly. Hugging her friend and crush.
"Let's go eat," said Adrien.
The two of them took a seat. Adrien looked at the menu for what he might like. The server arrived and placed a basket of bread in front of the couple, along with some butter.
"Hello. My name is Louis, and I'll be your server," he said. "Here's some bread and butter to start you off. Take your time deciding what you want. I can give you two a reasonable discount since your friends with the owner's daughter."
"That sounds great," said Marissa, smiling. "I'll have the steak. Rare."
"How do you prepare the steak?" Adrien asked. "It's not too fatty, is it?"
Allison rolled her eyes. "Is he on some stupid diet?" she asked in a whisper.
"You know, Adrien, if you don't eat something substantial, you could end up in bad health." Marissa sweetly said in a gentle tone.
"My father doesn't want me to gain a lot of weight," said Adrien, rubbing his neck.
"Actually, a well-balanced diet and good exercise are what can really maintain a good physique," said Marissa.
Louis looked at Adrien and said, "I would recommend the prime rib. It's the house specialty. As it's clearly marked."
"Okay. I'll have that medium-rare," said Adrien.
"Coming right up," said Louis.
Allison sighed and said, "This is working out perfectly." And then she spotted something outside coming towards the building. "What is that?"
Lucifer saw it as well and his eyes bulged. He grabbed Allison and ran towards Marissa and Adrien, tackling everyone to the ground. He pushed up the table to use as a shield as something broke through the window, scaring the customers and staff.
Lucifer and the kids peaked around and saw a girl with long black hair in a ponytail, orange skin, and piercing green eyes. She wore a red skin-tight elbow sleeve top with an exposed belly button, red skin-tight pants, red high heel boots, red gloves, and black lipstick and eyeshadow. She also looked suspiciously familiar.
"Attention, people! I'm looking for just one person! Hand her over and everyone leaves safely!" the girl announced, revealing her voice; a very familiar voice!
"Chloe?!" Adrien asked.
"Oh hi, Adrikins!" Chloe greeted her like usual. "Actually, it's Revenger now. And I'm here for the girl who ruined my life! Give me Marissa!"
"I'm not letting you hurt Marissa!" Adrien shouted, bolding standing up to Revenger.
The akumatized girl only laughed at him. "You're cute, Adrikins. But not even you're standing in my way. Marissa! Come out and face me! I won't let you get away with stealing my Adrikins or getting me suspended!"
Allison gripped her head and said, "What've I done?"
"Allie, look at me," said Marissa, grabbing her friend by the shoulders. "This isn't your fault. Chloe only got suspended, not expelled. And she was acting like a boy was her property."
Marissa got up. "Hey, Chloe, I didn't get you expelled, you got yourself in trouble by stealing my necklace," Marissa said in a calm tone. "I did believe you didn't do it but you acting like this proves you did."
Chloe glared at her. "You lying cow!" She shouted, holding up her staff. "You're picking up trash!"
"Hold it. I can prove it. " Marissa pulled out her phone. The camera came onto her in the hall. Her putting away the necklace in her locker. "Though it only has 4 minutes of video as you can see this was the exact time I came back to class which excludes me from the suspect list."
Chloe lowered her weapon and asked, "If you didn't frame me, who did?"
Allison slowly stood up to confess, but Adrien stopped her.
"I don't know. I barely know you so you'd have to ask who else would wish to blame you." Marissa calmly said. "But maybe it's someone else you recently ticked off?"
Chloe scoffed and said, "You're ridiculous. Everyone loves me."
"Not what I saw," said Allison.
"But I think I'll just start by getting revenge on the man who suspended me," Chloe declared. "Vengeance shall be mine, Principal Damocles!"
She took off like a speeding bullet. Adrien just sighed and said, "Even as a human she doesn't listen."
"And akumas can rarely see reason," said Allison.
"Well, I had proof hard to deny physical proof." Marissa shrugged. She took Adrien's hand. "Our dinner will have to be at your house Lucifer will take us to your house."
"Okay. I'll let my father and Nathalie know," said Adrien. "In the meantime, get somewhere safe. I'm gonna try to find the police. Or one of the heroes."
She gave him a confused look. Before assuming, he might be a misunderstanding. "No way we have to get you to your house. It's safer there."
Lucifer came over and escorted them both to the limo.
"Wait! Someone has to warn Ladybug and Cat Noir!" Adrien said as Lucifer shut the door and got inside. "What about Allie?"
"Her father has her," said Lucifer. "And you don't even know where they are. How are you gonna find them?"
Adrien opened and closed his mouth over and over again trying to figure out a way he could do it. But I couldn't get think of anything. Lucifer started the car and drove away. Adrien had to do something. Ladybug needed him.
-At Adrien's home-
Marissa and Adrien came into his house when it was opened. Natalie was there and she instantly hugged her new aunt.
A smile on her lips as she rubbed her nieces head and Adrien's father looked at Marissa. He looked slightly confused.
"Natalie, who is this girl?" Gabriel asked.
"My niece, Marissa," Natalie answered.
"Oh, Marissa!" Gabriel said, realizing who she is. "I remember you. My, you've grown."
"Yes, thank you," said Marissa. "I hope you don't mind me and Adrien having our date here. The restaurant was attacked."
"What?!" Gabriel asked fearfully.
"An Akuma villain attacked the restaurant," Adrien repeated.
"Don't worry. I made sure the Akuma left and kept Adrien safe." Marissa blushed slightly.
"And I brought him home right away. I didn't want anything else happening after all."
"Well, you did the right thing," said Gabriel in relief. "Adrien, take Marissa up to your room and wait for dinner."
"Okay, father," said Adrien. He took Marissa's hand and led her upstairs. He opened the door and revealed his very spacious bedroom. "So, make yourself at home. Watch TV, wash up, take a rest."
"Adrien…." She held his hands. "I wanted to say I love you so much."
Adrien stood in place, completely stunned. His mouth hung open in shock. He was not expecting this at all. He did really like her, but he also had feelings for Ladybug. How was he supposed to respond to that?
"Marissa… I….. I had no idea…." He said.
They were interrupted by a news update alert on their phones. They checked and saw that Ladybug was in close combat with Chloe aka Revenger. It looked as though Ladybug had the upper hand.
"She may be holding her own now, but Cat Noir should get there soon to help," said Adrien.
"I know how he must feel. Not being able to get there. Anyway, Adrien, I wish to become your official girlfriend. And I'm asking you….will you be my boyfriend?" She gave such a gentle tone.
There was no way he was getting away now. Not unless he told her he is in reality Cat Noir. That would mean admitting he had feelings for Ladybug.
"Marissa….. I do care about you….. A lot…." Adrien found himself saying.
"What's wrong?" Marissa asked, not liking this. "Don't you feel the same…..it's Ladybug isn't it. You know you can't really be together right."
"Marissa….. It's not like that," Adrien said, taking her hand.
"Then what is it?!" Marissa asked, tears falling from her eyes. "What am I lacking? What is wrong with me?"
"Nothing! Nothing!" Adrien quickly said. "You're not lacking anything! You're an amazing girl-"
"But I don't wear a costume, is that right?!" Marissa angrily asked. "What does some girl in spots have that I don't?!"
"Marissa, please-" Adrien pleaded.
"Just leave me alone!" Marissa cried as she ran away from him. She ran into the bathroom and closed the door behind her.
"Marissa!" Adrien called through the door. "Marissa, I'm sorry!"
"Nice going, Casanova," said Plagg after coming out of hiding.
"Rub it in, why don't cha, Plagg?" Adrien replied.
"What? I'm not the one who broke a girl's heart because of a girl wearing a mask," said Plagg. "This girl actually likes you. And respected you and yet you care for a girl who won't give you the time of day."
"Like you know about matters of the heart. All you love is cheese," Adrien argued.
Plagg glared at his partner and said, "I may think about my stomach a lot, but I'm not the one chasing a fantasy while a real girl wants to be with me! Think about that, Adri-jerk!"
Adrien sighed and plopped down on the bed. He hated to admit it, but Plagg was right. He was being a jerk to Marissa. He could at least let her in. But Marissa would have to wait. He had an Akuma to fight.
"I'll make it up to her later," said Adrien. "Plagg claws out!"
"Ariden, you can't be serious!" Plagg screamed as he was pulled into the ring.
After transforming into Cat Noir, Adrien jumped out the window and went to help Ladybug.
Unfortunately, her sadness did not go unnoticed.
-with Gabriel-
Nathalie was calling Marissa's parents to let her know she was alright when Gabriel's miraculous picked up on a new negative emotion. He went into his hideout, telling Nathalie to hold his calls.
"Nooroo, dark wings rise!" Gabriel said and transformed into Hawk Moth. "I can feel the sadness from a girl whose love is going un reacquainted. Perfect for my Akuma."
He brought a white butterfly to his hand and covered it. He then filled it with dark magic and uncovered it to reveal a purple and black butterfly. The butterfly flew out of his hand and out the window.
"Go now, my little Akuma. And evilize her!" Hawk Moth ordered.
-with Marissa-
The Akuma flew into Adrien's bathroom, where Marissa was still sobbing. It flew towards her locket, catching her attention.
"Fuck you, stupid Akuma," she said.
The butterfly went into her locket and Hawk Moth spoke. "I thought you were upset. Don't you want what's rightfully yours?"
"No. Not like this." Marissa coldly said. " I might end up hurting Adrien. I love him so much. Hurting him would be unbearable. I don't care what I have to do to protect him even if he'll never love me I'll always care and protect him. Sorry, that must sound stupid."
"Not at all," said Hawk Moth sounding happy. "I'll leave you alone. In fact, I already found another pawn. One who wanted so badly to help her friend be with the boy she loves only to fail because of a hotheaded girl. Ta-ta."
With that, the Akuma left Marissa and flew away. Marissa was relieved at first. But then she thought about his description. Someone who tried to help a friend with a boy, but the plan failed because of an angry girl. She realized then who it was.
"Allie!" Marissa screamed.
-Elsewhere with Allison at her at her home-
She was so angry that her friend was attacked by Chloe. That brat dared hurt her friend. To threaten her friend she would make her life hell.
"Allie, honey!" her mother cried, running to hug her daughter. "I just heard about what happened! I was so scared when I heard that you were in the restaurant when that villain attacked! Oh, my baby!"
"It's fine, mom. I need to go to my room." Allison still felt angry for once in her life she hoped she'd be akumatized.
Allison sat on her bed with her arms crossed. She grabbed a picture of Chloe from the yearbook and put on the dartboard on her door. After that, she pulled her darts out and started throwing them at the board. Unbeknownst to her at first, an Akuma came into the room. It came closer just as she nailed Chloe in the face.
"Hoo yeah! Right between the eyes! I am good! Take that, Chloe! No one ruins my friend's happiness!" she cheered. That was when the Akuma landed on her headband, making her freeze.
"Matchmaker, I am Hawk Moth," said Hawk Moth. "Your attempt to make your friend and the boy she loves into a happy couple went badly. I'm giving you the power to bring them together. All I want in return are miraculous of Ladybug and Cat Noir."
Allison grinned and said, "You won't be disappointed Hawk Moth."
Allison cackled as she was engulfed by black smoke. Once it cleared, Allison looked completely different. She had pink skin and green eyes. She wore a dark blue ballet two-two, red tights, purple boots and gloves, and her headband was spiked.
Allison marveled at her new look when her phone rang. She picked it up and saw Marissa on the caller ID. She grinned as she answered.
"Hello, Mari. How may I help you?" she said.
"Hello? Allison are you ok?" Marissa asked.
"Of course," Allison answered sweetly. "In fact, I'm going to give you and Adrien another go on that date."
"What? Allison what are you...no I have to go." Marissa hung up.
-Afterward-
Marissa snuck out of Adrien's house and ran to where she knew Master Fu's miracle box would be best. She'd hate to steal from him but when her friend was an Akuma she'd take the risk.
When she arrived at Fu's home, she snuck up to the door and took a peek inside. It looked like no one was home. Marissa was so relieved he still had a life outside the house. After some lock picking, Marissa had access.
"Let's see. I think he put the box somewhere around here," Marissa thought out loud as she looked around. Her eyes landed on a phonograph. "Jackpot."
Marissa remembered the code from the show and pressed the buttons. This opened the secret compartment where the miracle box was hidden.
She opened. From here it was all about choice. They all looked like good items. But the choker with a silver butterfly looked most appealing, so she took it and the box. After that, she ran off and hid in a closet nearby. Opening the box she picked up the choker.
A light came out and a tiny creature appeared. It had a big head, a little body, big cute eyes, and antennae. The creature was dark brown and had a little white heart on its head, little white paws, and pretty orange butterfly wings.
"Hello," the creature said, it sounded female. "I'm Peony. How can I help you?"
"I know this is a lot but I'm your mistress now and I need your help to save my friend." She smiled at her.
"Okay!" Peony happily said. "That's what we kwamis do. You just need to wear my miraculous and say the incantation. But you should probably know how my powers work."
She nodded putting on her choker. She took a deep breath.
"Okay. Basically, my powers work a lot like Nooroo's," said Peony. "With a few differences. 1) The people you grant power are those with positive emotions. 2) Unlike Nooroo, who can only send out one butterfly at a time, you can send three butterflies at one time. Make sense?"
She nodded looking ready. "How do I summon my power? Is it like nooroo?" She asked in a gentle tone.
"Just say Wings flutter if you want them out and if you want to pull your power back say wings retract." Peony said in a gentle tone Marissa nodded.
"Peony, wings flutter." Her long black hair was tied into two ponytails a long black jumpsuit as two globes with scruff at the ends of them appeared. She had two orange and black wings appear on her back and a black mask on her face. Only black butterflies appeared looking like they were missing the white and orange.
"Okay. Now I just need a champion," said Marissa. She didn't wanna overdo it so she felt for a positive energy any and then she felt one Ayla. A butterfly came into her hand and an orange and white aura surrounded it. "Go my little butterfly go and get my champion.
-with Ayla-
Ayla was hanging out with Nino when a monarch butterfly landed on her phone and went inside. Freaking nino out.
The phone become a monarch color. A monarch mask appeared on her. 'Hello, my knight I'm the monarch queen. I'd like to give you powers in exchange all I ask is if you help Ladybug and Cat Noir stop Hawk Moth's Akuma what do you say, my knight?"
Ayla curtsied. "Of course I'd be all but pleased to my queen."
'Then come forth then Lady Wifi.'
Alya was covered in light for a moment. When the light diminished, she was once again Lady Wifi. However, this time she was not evil.
"Excuse me, Nino. But I have some heros to help for my queen." She gave a bow to him and ran off to help two heros.
Nino just stared for a bit before saying, "Did my girlfriend get akumatized into a hero version of her villain self?"
-Elsewhere with Adrien-
Adrien was walking home, still feeling pretty bad about how he responded to Marissa's feelings. Plagg came out of his shirt and spoke to him.
"Why so glum? We won," said Plagg.
"Maybe because I feel like I acted like a jerk to Marissa," said Adrien.
"No you didn't," said Plagg, making Adrien smile for a second. "You acted like an idiot. There's a difference."
"Gee. Thanks, Plagg," Adrien sarcastically said. And then his eyes landed on a heart-shaped broach on display in a jewelry store he passed. "That just might smooth things over."
"Adrien Agreste, it's time to make you a match made in heaven." A voice said.
Adrien jumped and gasped. Right in front of him was a female villain. A very familiar one.
"Allie?" he asked.
"Today, I am your matchmaker," said Allison. "Well, yours and Marissa's."
"Marissa?" he asked. This made him wonder if Marissa might be in trouble. He had to get away and transform. "You know what, Matchmaker, that sounds great. Let me just go in here and buy Marissa a present."
Matchmaker blow a heart-shaped kiss which he jumped back from. The kiss hit a man and instantly he and the girl next to him became attached at the hip. Literally. "Oh look at the lovely couple together forever."
"Help! I'm stuck!" The girl shrieked.
"Me too!" The man shouted. "Where are Ladybug and Cat Noir!?"
"Stop where you are, Matchmaker." Another female voice said as a pause button came at her Matchmaker did a double backflip dodging two.
Adrien turned around and saw Lady Wifi. "Oh no. Alya. Not again. You were akumatized."
"Stay back, Adrien. I'll protect you from this Akuma as my queen commands."
"Queen?" Adrien asked.
"Yeah. The Monarch Queen," Lady Wifi casually said. "She gave me my old Lady Wifi powers to use for a good cause. Now, get out of here. I hot this."
"Okay. Be careful," Adrien said before running into an alley. "Glad she's on our side this time. Plagg, Claws out!"
While this happened Lady Wifi was shooting pause buttons and stop buttons to get Matchmaker who was kissing hearts trying to catch her. Both missing but she was hitting signs cars and walls as was Matchmaker. "I'm not gonna stand by and watch you torture Adrien or the others of Paris," she, declared hitting her and sending Matchmaker into the wall before she rolled away and a stop button nearly freezing her.
"Gotta be faster than that, Lady Wifi." The Matchmaker jumped up and ran off as lady wifi gave chase.
"Mind if I join the fun, ladies?" a male voice asked. That was when Cat Noir arrived.
"Does Cat Noir want to cut in?" Lady wifi asked while stopping a heart in mid-air. "I wouldn't mind some help and I'm sure my queen wouldn't mind."
"She sounds like a great lady to have chosen someone like you as her champion," said Cat Noir while rushing towards Matchmaker. She swiftly did a twist kick sending him back. She spun his staff.
Another stop button hit her leg only for a kiss to knock her phone out of her hand and onto the ground knocking the signal out and freeing matchmaker.
"You can't stop me that easily!" She declared. "Adrien and Marissa belong together!"
Just then a yoyo appeared and she skidded backwards. "Well look who joined the party miss homewrecker."
"Excuse me?" Ladybug asked. She looked at the scene again and was even more confused. "Okay, did two people get akumatized."
"No. Just the one. Matchmaker," said Cat Noir. "Lady Wifi was changed by another miraculous that works kinda like the moth."
"I'm here to help," said Lady Wifi, smiling.
"That's good," said Ladybug, sighing in relief. And then she looked at Matchmaker. "What do you mean miss homewrecker?"
"Why does it matter?" Matchmaker scoffed. She sent a ton of kisses hearts at them hitting Ladybug and Cat Noir sticking them together. "Much better. "
Matchmaker went to get their marcules only for her to be sent back by Lady Wifi.
"Not gonna happen!" She declared.
"And unstick us now!" Ladybug shouted.
"It's not that bad, milady," said Cat Noir in a flirtatious manner.
"Cat! Knock it off!" Ladybug shouted, pushing his face away from hers. "That's not helping!"
'Get rid of Lady Wifi! Then the miraculous will be in your hands!' Hawk Moth ordered.
'Lady Wifi, do you need more help?' Monarch queen asked in a gentle sweet tone.
"No thanks, my queen. I think I know where the Akuma is," said Lady Wifi.
"You do?" The hero pair asked.
"That headband. I've seen one like it with fewer spikes. A girl in school wears one just like it," said Lady Wifi.
Ladybug's eyes went wide. "Allison!?" she asked. And then remembered where she was. "The restaurant owner's daughter? How?"
'Well, she's on the mark.' Queen Monarch said in her knight's head. 'I think I have an idea but we need those two to work as one. And the lucky charm.'
"My queen has a plan. But you both are needed to work as one," said Lady Wifi.
"No prob. We're always so in sync," said Cat Noir.
"I'm ready," said Ladybug.
Matchmaker stood ready to fight. "I don't get what's so great about you, Ladybug. To me, you're just a girl who swings around Paris with a yoyo wearing a bodysuit and a mask."
"Now that's not nice!" Cat Noir said.
"Girls like Marissa are real. They don't need masks and costumes to do amazing things," Matchmaker said with a smile. And then she glared at Ladybug. "And yet guys tend to gush over you without giving real girls the time of day!"
"That's not true!" Ladybug said. "I-I know for a fact Adrien doesn't think that about Marissa."
"I believe you, Ladybug," said Cat Noir. "I'm sure Adrien cares a lot about her."
"As do I," A voice said.
The heroes looked around. "Who said that?" Ladybug asked.
Two wings blocked the sun for just as the monarch queen stood on the ground.
"My Queen," said Lady Wifi with a bow.
"At ease, my presence is merely for the plan now Ladybug if you will."
"Of course," Ladybug said, holding onto Cat Noir to balance herself. "Lucky Charm!"
Ladybug shot her yoyo into the air and it lit up. The magic flew around until it took form. It was a boomerang. The two looked at it with confusion but the Monarch Queen smiled at that she walked over while her knight got in front of her. Monarch Queen tied some rope around it. And then she smiled before jumping upwards and started swinging her feet at matchmaker while avoiding the kisses.
Lady Wifi grabbed her phone and Ladybug threw it. But it was paused in place.
"What lady wifi did you decide to help-" the Matchmaker was cut off by the two connected pushing her forward.
The pause button unfroze and swang at her she was gonna avoid when a pause button hit Matchmaker just as she ducked.
"Bummer," said Cat Noir. And then he grinned and raised his hand. "May I?"
"The plan worked so go ahead." Monarch queen gestured to him
"Cataclysm!" Cat Noir said, filling his hand with destructive power. He then touched Matchmaker's headband with his finger and broke it. After the headband was destroyed, the Akuma flew out.
"Help me out here, Cat Noir," said Ladybug while opening her yoyo.
Since they were still stuck together, Ladybug and Cat Noir had to move their bodies in sync in order for Ladybug to perform her ritual. Together, they threw the yoyo and caught the Akuma. Ladybug opened it and a white butterfly came out.
"Bye-bye, little butterfly," she said. And then she threw the boomerang in the air. "Miraculous Ladybug!"
The charm broke into a swarm of magical ladybugs that flew all over the city and repaired the damage. They also unstuck the people who were linked together, including Ladybug and Cat Noir.
"We're free!" Cat Noir cheered.
"Woohoo!" Cheered Ladybug.
The two then fist-bumped. "Pound it!" That was when Matchmaker turned back into Allison.
Lady Wifi turned to Monarch Queen and asked, "How'd I do?"
"You did well, my knight." She smiled sweetly. She held out her hand and the butterfly came out of her phone and reverted her back to Ayla. "I promise to call on you again when necessary."
Ayla beamed and said, "That was such a rush! You can call on me anytime."
Allison opened her eyes and looked around. "Heroes?" She asked. "Oh no. Was I akumatized?"
"Yeah. You made people stick together. Literally. Including Ladybug and me," Cat Noir said, acting like it was a joke.
The Monarch walked over to him. Kissing his lips suddenly, surprising everyone there. Ladybug's jaw hung open, Allison had wide eyes, and Alya used her phone to take a picture.
"This is big!" she cheered.
When they separated, Cat Noir could only stare in shock. "Do….. Do I…. Know you…. Like…. Without the costume?"
"Possible. Who knows? But I know you, kitty. So don't go chasing any other bugs." She sweetly smiled before vanishing with a swarm of butterflies.
"Cat Noir, care to comment on this new heroine, Monarch Queen, who seems to be after your heart?" Alya asked Cat Noir.
Cat Noir jumped and turned around. He struggled with his words for a bit, making the girls laugh. And then he heard a beeping sound and found three paw pads.
"Oh, look at the time. Gotta go! Don't wanna be late for dinner!" he said before fleeing.
Ladybug shook her head in amusement. "I better bug out too. Can you girls manage on your own?"
"Yeah. I'll be fine," said Alya.
"I'll call a car," said Allison. And then Ladybug took off.
-Adrien's home-
Marissa sighed back to her normal form as she just made it back. She exited expecting Adrien to be back soon.
"You did really well for your first time!" Peony happily said.
"Thanks. Now hide and eat the honey cookies I had in my bag." Marissa gestured to her bag. Marissa saw Adrien come in. Food was in his hand two plates.
"Hey, Marissa. Glad you're feeling better," said Adrien. "I brought you some food."
"Thanks…." She took the food and looked away from him for just a moment. She sighed sadly.
Adrien sat down next to her. For a moment, neither of them said a word to each other. To say the situation was tense was an understatement. A person could cut the tension in the room with a knife. Finally, Adrien spoke up.
"I was a jerk," he said.
"It's ok. I just really like you, Adrien. I like you, love you even, but if you don't feel anything like that I-" she held her chest trying not feel heart broken again.
Adrien placed his hand on hers. "The thing is….. I do have strong feelings for you. It just took an encounter with an akumatized Allison to realize the mistake I was making. I heard her telling off Ladybug and Cat Noir, and she made some slightly good points."
"Yeah." Marissa held her choker. Smiling slightly. Adrien took a breath before kissing her she leaned in and put her hands around his waist.
Nathalie came in to remind Marissa that she had to get ready for the concert and found Adrien kissing her. On that note, she walked out. After she was gone, Adrien and Marissa parted from the kiss. And then he pulled out a box and got on one knee, opening the box to reveal the broach he saw.
"Marissa Heartnet, will you be my girlfriend?" he asked.
"Yes. A thousand times yes," Marissa cheered, whilst accepting the jewel. Marissa hugged him. "Oh my concert I should get going." She kissed his cheek as she got up and went to the door and walked out before turning for a second. "I can't wait to see you there."
After that she was smiled as he touched his cheek. Plagg figured this was the perfect time to come out.
"I'm proud of you, kid," said Plagg. "You chose to pursue a chance at real happiness instead of trying to catch a ladybug that didn't share your feelings."
"Thanks, Plagg. I have a feeling this is gonna be a great night." Adrien smiled.
"Is it because your ticket is a front row seat? Or is it because you can shout to the crowd, 'That's my girlfriend'?" Plagg asked teasingly.
He rolled his eyes but tonight was gonna be a great night ether way.
