Hey everyone! First of all, I hope everyone is doing well! Stay safe the best you can! Here is my new Playful Kiss fic! It's been awhile since I have written any for Oh Ha Ni and Baek Seung Jo and my mom has been begging me for a new fic. So, here we are. This one will be lighter and well more... playful (see what I did there) than my previous two.

So, this one is a twist on the fight at the library between Bong Joon Gu and Kim Ki Tae where Seung Jo interrupts them to tell them they are being silly since Ha Ni only likes him anyway. This is my version where Ha Ni doesn't just let herself follow him like a puppy this time but actually wants to give Kim Ki Tae a chance which I am basing off how sweet they were together on their park date.

Also, I am changing up Baek Seung Jo's fathers heart attack slightly and him going to work for his fathers company because of the way I am laying this story out. So, be prepared that I will be deviating from the show storyline. And I love in the show how we see teasing Ha Ni is one of the ways Baek Seung Jo shows his affection for her so I plan of keeping a lot of those elements as well... Hope you all enjoy and let me know! I love hearing from you!

"Oh Ha Ni only likes me."

The words were floating over her head as Seung Jo pulled her away. His arm wrapped tightly around her shoulders and she cast a look over to Bong Joon Gu who was still leaning over Kim Ki Tae with a fist raised. Her mind was whirling with a mix of different emotions which were warring with her body. On one hand, her senses were alive from the possessive grip of Seung Jo around her but on the other hand she was extremely frustrated.

He couldn't keep ignoring her and declaring her feelings were for only him while simultaneously telling her to leave him alone. Moments from date at the park with Ki Tae where he was playful and affectionate flashed over her. He wasn't obsessive like Bong Joon Gu or dismissive like Seung Jo and Ha Ni felt upset over her earlier attitude with him.

"Stop it." Ha Ni unexpectedly barked and pushed Seung Jo arm off her. He gave her a surprised stare as she scowled at him. "I am not your property, Baek Seung Jo."

"Since when?" He asked with a cocked eyebrow and seeing Hye Rae obviously looking around for Seung Jo, Ha Ni felt like a bucket of cold water had just been doused over her. Confused and heartbroken, she shook her head with a low whisper. "No more."

She met his stare and whatever he saw on her face made his eyes darken but he didn't say anything which only confirmed this had gone on too long. With new determination, she straightened her shoulders and quickly went around the corner where Joon Gi was still hissing threateningly at Kim Ki Tae.

"Joon Gu," Ha Ni snapped. "Stop it. We're friends but we are not dating!"

"Ha Ni—"

"Kim Ki Tae," Ha Ni reached down and helped him to his feet, concern over his bruised cheek from Joon Gu's earlier blow. "Are you all right?"

"I think so." He mumbled and he smiled slightly as she ran her fingers over the mark. "It's sore but nothing a little ice won't fix."

"Come on," Ha Ni took his arm. "Let's get you taken care—"

"Oh Ha Ni!" Bong Joon Gu cried and she gave him a cold glare. "Enough, Joon Gu. I've told you before that you and I are just friends." Softening her tone slightly since she didn't really want to hurt him, she moved to take his hand. "And we will only ever be friends."

"Seung Jo—"

"This has nothing to do with Baek Seung Jo," Ha Ni said firmly. "This has to do with you and me. You can't keep holding onto me so tightly." She dipped her head to meet his sorrowful face. "Please, Bong Joon Gu. I don't want to lose you but I also can't be what you want either."

Joon Gu didn't answer so she rose on her tiptoes to kiss his cheek. "When you're ready to just be friends come find me." Ha Ni whispered and a tear slid slowly down his face. She gave him a sad smile before taking Kim Ki Tae's hand again.

"Come on. Let's get you some ice."

She could feel Baek Seung Jo's eyes on her but she refused to look over. Ki Tae smiled in relief before interlacing their fingers and lead her out of the library. Ha Ni felt the heated sun over her skin and she was struck by how much of a huge weight had just fallen off her shoulders.

Loving Seung Jo was exhausting, she realized. Sometimes it was exhilarating and fulfilling but that was few and far between. Mainly though it was draining and Ha Ni honestly didn't think she could keep doing it anymore. So, she took a deep breath of fresh air and squeezed his Kim Ki Tae fingers.

"Can you be patient with me?"

"What?" He asked in confusion since she had said if so quietly and he tugged on her arm to get her to stop. "Ha Ni, talk to me."

Suddenly nervous, Ha Ni tucked a piece of her hair behind her ear. "I… I want this to work. But my feelings are so twisted up that I barely even know my own name. I am still living with Seung Jo's family and we are probably always going to be somewhat intertwined. So, can you be patient with me? Slow down and let's date each other the right way. Get to know one another and then see what happens?"

He went still in thought before his shoulders sank and he sent her a tiny grin. "I can do that."

Ha Ni let out a long sigh and tentatively went into his arms and hugged him. "Thank you."

Seung Jo leaned against the pillar and watched the scene in the courtyard where Ha Ni was currently talking to Kim Ki Tae.

"Is that her boyfriend?" Yoon Hye Rae asked and Seung Jo could practically hear the delighted glee in her voice which made want to roll his eyes but he restrained.

"At the moment." Seung Jo said dismissively. "You know Ha Ni… She is just trying to make me jealous."

"Is it working?"

He scoffed but the slight tic in his jaw confirmed he was not overly pleased by the display happening. Especially as Kim Ki Tae drew back and cupped her face, pressing his lips to her forehead. Hearing his involuntary snarl, Hye Ra looked at him in amusement. "I've never seen someone fight his feelings so hard in my life."

"I'm not fighting anything," Seung Jo snapped. "I am perfectly aware of how I feel."

"I'm sure you are." Hye Rae turned and patted his shoulder. "Good luck with this one. You're going to need it."

Seung Jo glared at her retreating back. His irritation more out of place than it should be but unable to stop it. Hearing his phone, he answered it with a sharp bark. "What?"

"Seung Jo?"

He closed his eyes at his mother's voice and he softened slightly. While he and his mom might bicker and fight, he loved her and he would never purposefully disrespect her. "Sorry, mom. I didn't know it was you."

"Are you all right?" Geum Hee asked in genuine concern and Seung Jo sighed. "Yeah. I am fine. What did you need?"

"Can you come to dinner tonight?"

"Mom, if this is about Oh Ha Ni—"

"It's not. I promise." His mother said quickly and he straightened at the slight edge in her tone. "What's wrong?"

"Your father… I don't think he feels good."

Seung Jo frowned. He knew his father had been overworked lately and becoming slightly ragged by the events at the company. "Is he all right?"

"I don't know," Geum Hee admitted. "I want him to take some time off but he won't listen to me. But I was hoping with both us tackling him, he might agree to go to the doctor."

This immediately drew Seung Jo to his feet as he hurried down the library steps. His mother never asked him for help with his father. They had such a strong relationship that the fact that she felt the need for his help meant she was genuinely worried.

"Sure, Mom."

Geum Hee let out a long sigh. "Thank you." Lightening her tone to tease him. "I made your favorite in case I had to bribe you."

Seung Jo smiled as he opened his car door. "Bribery only works on Baek Eun Jo."

"Does not."

"Does too."

"Just," Geum Hee laughed. "Come to dinner."

He hung up with a grin and looked across the school to where he had last seen Ha Ni but she had disappeared. His smile fading slightly but he pushed it aside. He gave another two days tops with this game before she finally cracked and went back to spying and following him around like a puppy.

Ha Ni sat across from Ki Tae and smiled as he ordered her a glass of wine. "Am I keeping you from your family?" He asked worriedly and she shook her head.

"My father is working late at the noodle shop and I told Geum Hee not to worry if I missed dinner."

"Good." He leaned back in his chair happily. "So tell me about yourself?"

"Me?" Ha No blinked in confusion. "There's not a lot to tell."

"Sure there is," Ki Tae insisted with a laugh. "I know the basics like you play tennis, are extremely loyal to the people in your life and for some reason don't think you're very smart."

"I'm not," Ha Ni whispered in embarrassment but Ki Tae stopped with an empathic shake of his head. "No. You have just listened to everyone around for too long. You're smart, Ha Ni. You simply lack confidence in yourself."

Ha Ni chuckled in disbelief and ducked her head. "Well you are undoubtedly the first person to ever think I am smart."

He scowled at this before reaching over and taking her hand firmly. " Well from now you only listen to me then...You're smart, Ha Ni. And don't let anyone ever make you feel like you aren't or that you are not perfect. Because you are."

Caught off guard by how fierce he defended her, Ha Ni felt a slow glow of warmth spread through her. "Thank you."

He smiled at the low whisper before giving a satisfied nod. "Are you hungry?"

"Yeah." Ha Ni replied happily, feeling better than she had in awhile. "Yeah, I am."

"Dad, you need to go to the doctor." Seung Jo insisted for the fifth time while Geum Hee watched anxiously. His father was pale and dark circles under his eyes as he waved his hand dismissively. "I'm fine. I am just tired."

"Great." Seung Jo snapped in irritation. "Then when the doctor confirms it, you can tell me 'I told you so."

"I don't have time." Soo Chang sighed before forcing a smile. "Now tell me about school. Are you still thinking about medical school? I think it would be a good fit for you."

"That's not going to work," Seung Jo started but catching the wane look on his father's face, he stopped. Maybe this was not the best way to approach him. Seung Jo could admit that he battled his mother. It was because they were so much alike and both knew the other could handle it but he didn't like fighting with his father who was gentle and kind.

While his mother showered them with affection and goofiness, his father was steady and quiet. The soft discipline and nighttime stories which were full of lessons and guidance. Arguing with him was not going to do anything but hurt and tire him out which was the exact opposite of what Seung Jo wanted at the moment.

"Dad," Seung Jo sighed and in a rare show of affection knelt down next to him. "Please. You need to take care of yourself."

Soo Chang patted his hand with a murmur of his name. "Stop worrying about your old man. I will live to be a hundred. Now," he stood up and kissed Geum Hee on the cheek with a loud smack. "Let's eat. I'm hungry."

Seung Jo exchanged glances with his mother who shook her head angrily. "He's being stubborn. All because the board keeps making noises…" She stopped and closed her eyes with a deep breath. "Never mind."

Seung Jo rubbed his head with a huff of annoyance. His father had built his company on nothing but a random game idea and the one or two employees he paid out of his own pocket. He didn't deserve the current disloyalty being shown.

"Do you want me to stay tonight? Just in case."

"No." Geum Hee shook her head. "We will be fine. But thanks."

Seung Jo was surprised that she didn't jump on the idea of him coming back home so she could push him towards Ha Ni and noticing, her expression softened to open amusement.

"I have said enough. You know how I feel about Oh Ha Ni. Now, it's up to you."

He folded his arms with a suspicious frown. "What are you planning?"

"Nothing." She held up her fingers in their secret code which meant she was being sincere. "I promise." She leaned forward and kissed his cheek. "I am going to let you figure this one out on your own."

"Why?"

"Because I know you." Geum Hee laughed. "I've raised a smart boy. One who is intelligent enough to know his own heart and mind." She gave him a significant stare. "And you always have but you have father's stubbornness."

"Dad's stubbornness?" Seung Jo scoffed and she rolled her eyes. "I am not stubborn."

He gave her a dubious stare and she put her hands on her hips with an impatient huff. "Fine I am but that's not the point. The point is..." She tapped his nose with a small laugh. "You don't need your mother to help you figure things out. Besides," Geum Hee sighed. "I think I need to worry more about my love right now than yours."

He took her hand with a light squeeze. "I will stay for a few days."

She nodded but her eyes fell to the spot where his father had stood and feeling the slight tremor, he quickly wrapped her up in a hug. "He's going to be fine, Mom."

"I hope so." Geum Hee whispered tearfully.

Ha Ni opened her bedroom door quietly so she didn't disturb the sleeping house. Dinner with Ki Tae had been wonderful and she had stayed out even later than she planned. They had talked for what felt like hours and also went over the incident at the library where Ki Tae agreed to forgive Bong Joon Gu and Ha Ni felt better knowing he wasn't mad. At least not overly.

Ki Tae admitted he had been jealous over her feelings for Seung Jo so he had tried to run her over with his speed for a relationship. But they agreed they genuinely liked each other and wanted to start fresh. So, they were going to try to put the past behind them and simply focus on each other instead of Baek Seung Jo.

Ha Ni confessed her confusion over her relationship with Seung Jo but agreed it wasn't healthy which had been a hard but necessary step for her. And Ki Tae had seemed relieved by the idea of her trying to let go of her feelings and agreed to be patient with her. It had not been an easy conversation but in the end they both believed it would be worth it. That maybe they could build something good and strong together.

Officially worn out but feeling confident her decision was the right one, Ha Ni put away her photo of Seung Jo and her at graduation with only a small twinge. She couldn't keep him next to her if she truly intended to let him go. She closed her drawer almost reverently and forced herself to move away before she gave into the desire to pull it back out.

She yawned and feeling the effects of the two glasses of wine she pulled off her sweater with a small moan. "Oh Ha Ni, you know better than-Ahh!" She shrieked and slapped a hand over her mouth to hush her scream as she suddenly noticed Baek Seung Jo leaning against her doorframe watching her.

"You scared me," Ha Ni gasped as she pushed back her hair from her eyes. "What—What are you doing here?"

Seung Jo scanned her carefully, taking in her dark tank top and skirt. "You're home late."

Ha Ni ignored the question and slowly went back to her hanging up her clothes. "What is it, Seung Jo?"

He tilted his head at her cold tone. "Don't you think you're going a little far? I am not going to get jealous no matter how much you parade Kim Ki Tae in front of me."

"Good. Because I don't intend to parade him in front of you or anyone else." Ha Ni said softly and turned to face him. "He and I had dinner tonight… And not where you work or on campus where you might be... Because I have decided to date him for me. So, this has nothing to do with you."

He smirked and folded his arms. "Really?"

"Yes."

He blinked a little at her instant reply and he studied her. She wasn't flustered or stumbling over her words. She wasn't outright ignoring him but her cool demeanor implied it might not be far behind. Ha Ni set down her backpack and rolled her neck before turning back to face him.

"Was there something else?"

Seung Jo narrowed his eyes but didn't comment. "I am going to be staying here for a few days."

"Why?"

"My father." Seung Jo straightened and walked into her room so Eun Jo couldn't overhear him. "He is not doing so well right now."

Ha Ni eyes widened in alarm. "What's wrong? Is he sick?"

"I don't know." Seung Jo admitted with a shrug. "He says he just tired which could be true since he's been working so much but my mom is worried. So, I agreed to stay and help her keep an eye on him for a little while."

"Oh," Ha Ni nodded and he noted this piece of news didn't seem to excite her but rather she seemed more disappointed by it. "That is nice of you. Geum Hee will be pleased to have you home again. Even if it's just temporary."

Seung Jo didn't answer but only continued to stare at her. They faced off silently until he finally nodded and moved to leave. "Well, good luck with Kim Ki Tae."

"Thank you."

He paused at the doorway and looked back to where she stood yawning. There had been no sarcasm or even frustration in her tone. Which he had been expecting since he was still convinced she was only dating Ki Tae to get a rise out of him.

Ha Ni waved goodnight and shut the door quietly behind him. She listened for the moment but as his feet only shuffled away, she let out a low groan. It figured that the moment she had decided to finally let Seung Jo go and truly try to make it work with someone else would be when he decided to move back in. Although, it was only for a short time but still…

"This would be so much easier if he wasn't so good looking," she grumbled as she yanked the band out of her hair. "Stupid boy with golden skin and big eyes. Stupid hair that's always perfect." Frustrated she stripped and threw her clothes across the room.

"Stupid boy who can't say anything nice."

Deciding that pitching a fit seemed appropriate under the circumstances, Ha Ni sank into the bed and kicked her feet hard against the mattress. Placing her pillow over her face so she could properly scream in private.

"I hate him. I don't like him. I've never liked him. I like nice men who take me on park dates and hold my hand. And who tells me I am smart..."

She kept ranting into the pillowcase until she felt completely depleted but cleansed. With a vow to completely forget Baek Seung Jo, she rolled over and promptly fell into a deep sleep.

Seung Jo thanked his mother as she placed down breakfast but noticing that Soo Chang was not in his chair, he frowned over to Eun Jo. "Where's dad?"

"He left already."

"What?" Geum Hee looked alarmed. "I thought he was still sleeping."

"No." The boy shrugged not bothering to look up from his book. "He was already gone when I got up around six to get ready for school. He left me a note wishing me luck on my math test."

Geum Hee grumbled under her breath and stalked back into the kitchen. Not able to blame his mother for her frustration he sighed quietly over to his brother. "Don't give her a hard time today. All right?"

"Don't worry…I'm the nice son." Eun Jo said while highlighting a particular problem in his text. "Remember?"

"Thanks." Seung Jo threw his napkin at him with a short chuckle. "I've missed you too."

"Well I have to admit it was kind of nice having my own room again."

Seung Jo kicked him good-naturedly and Eun Jo laughed. "I will behave."

"Thank you."

He looked at his watch with a sigh. "Ha Ni is going to be late again."

Eun Jo shrugged. "So what else is new?"

Seung Jo shook his head and headed upstairs to drag her out of bed. If she kept showing up late for class their teachers would fail her on principle. He roughly opened her bedroom door and gritted his teeth in annoyance.

Ha No was still sprawled over her bed sound asleep. He opened his mouth to yell at her but then she gave a long moan and rolled to her stomach. The covers slipping slightly to reveal her bare shoulder.

Spotting the tank top he had seen on her last night now hanging off the edge of the bed, he realized she must not have bothered to put on pajama's last night and he could feel the heat of his blood begin to thicken at the idea of her laying there bare. Her skin was smooth and one of her legs lay visible from under the thick comforter.

Seung Jo scanned the long and toned leg without shame and realized Ha Ni must have started taking her tennis a little more seriously recently. They were defined with new muscles and he took another leisurely scan. Knowing he was probably being an ogling creeper but not really able to bring himself to care.

"Ha Ni, are you ever getting up?" Eun Jo demanded as he suddenly appeared next to him. "You're supposed to walk me to school—"

With a predatory growl, he slapped a hand over Eun Jo's eyes and harshly moved him away from the door. "I will wake Oh Ha Ni," Seung Jo said quickly ignoring his brother's protest over his current lack of vision. "You go downstairs and get your stuff."

"Hyung!"

"Go." He pushed him forward and ignored the bewildered stare from his brother. "But I am going to be late!"

"I will drive you." Seung Jo shooed him down the stairs. "You will be fine."

"All right," Eun Jo rolled his eyes. "But hurry up."

Seung Jo went back to her room and stepped inside closing the door behind him just in case his little brother decided to come back upstairs for some reason.

"Oh Ha Ni."

At the loud call, she let out a cry and jumped awake. Her hair tangled around her head in messy waves and only barely managed to grab the covers before they slipped too far. "Seung Jo!"

"What?"

She groaned and clutched her head with her free hand. "Ow, my head."

He laughed and she flushed since he didn't seem the slightest bit embarrassed by the fact she was currently only covered by a thin sheet. "Can you please leave."

"Now why would I want to do that?" He teased with a confident smile which only increased as she glared at him. "I'm not exactly dressed here, Seung Jo."

"I can see that." Seung Jo dipped his head wolfishly to the white-knuckled grip on her bedsheet. "And if I had known you didn't like pajamas; I would have started waking you months ago."

"You're not funny." Ha Ni snapped and furiously gestured to the hall. "Out please."

"Get up first." Seung Jo challenged with an amused glint in his eyes which made her flop back down with another groan. "I would have drank another glass of wine last night if I known you were moving back in."

This wiped away some of his humor. "What do you mean another glass of wine?"

"Nothing."

"You drank last night?" Seung Jo narrowed his eyes. "You know you can't drink. It makes you loopy."

"My dad's rice wine makes me loopy." Ha Ni corrected sleepily. "Wine with Ki Tae at dinner is different."

His body stiffened but thankfully a lifetime of masking his feelings made it easy to hide. "Tell that to your headache."

She lifted her head off her pillow to give him a glare. "Are you ever going to leave so I can get dressed or not?"

"OH HA NI!" Eun Jo yelled in frustration. "UP. NOW!"

"Coming," she called apologetically and pointed to the door. "Go."

He rolled his eyes as he stood up and heard her mutter about trying to find her bra and he fought with some primal reaction to this statement. Telling himself not to be ridiculous, he pulled it off her lampshade and twirled it teasingly. "Small but I like the pink."

With a dark blush, she grabbed her t-shirt and flung it at him. "Yah!"

With a laugh, he ducked and sauntered away as she yelled at his retreating back. "You're not moving back in permanently right?"

"We'll see." Seung Jo called calmly over his shoulder. "After all, I should probably stay and find out how this relationship of yours plays out."

"Seung Jo," Ha Ni hurriedly grabbed her robe and rushed after him. "Leave me and Kim Ki Tae alone."

He turned and scanned her again before smiling and began to slowly walk backward. "I thought you said it had nothing to do with me."

"It doesn't." Ha Ni told him softly. "Which is why I am warning you now, Seung Jo. Don't confuse me or try to manipulate me into giving this up."

He stopped and faced her with a strange expression. "Are you really dating him?"

"Yes." Ha Ni shuffled awkwardly. "I want to try and let you go. Kim Ki Tae is someone…" She trailed off before shrugging. "Well, I think he has the potential to be special to me. He's the first one to come along who makes me think letting you go is worth it."

This made him swallow hard and realizing she truly meant it, he nodded thoughtfully. "I won't manipulate you."

"Good."

She turned sharply but he wasn't finished. "But only because I don't have to manipulate you in order to get what I want."

Ha Ni narrowed her eyes. "What does that mean?"

Seung Jo took a step forward and suspicious clouded her face as he began to crowd her. "We both know the only one you like is me… So, go ahead and date Kim Ki Tae." He raised his arms and Ha Ni was shocked to discover he had managed to back her into the wall.

"Try to forget me." Seung Jo whispered wickedly. "See how well it goes for you… Especially with me sleeping right down the hall again. Sharing meals and space together."

"You said you were only staying for a few days."

"I changed my mind." Seung Jo muttered with a grin. His eyes dipping to the gap in her rob and desperate to create space, Ha Ni pressed into the wall behind her. "Stop it, Seung Jo. Don't make this about you just because you are attention hog."

This made his eyes narrow sharply. "Attention hog?"

"Why else would you care that I am dating?" Ha Ni snapped in frustration and he blinked in surprise before slowly nodding. "Well, that is something to think about, isn't it?"

"Seung Jo—"

"Not now though," Seung Jo said smoothly. "You're late and I imagine your boyfriend is starting to get worried. She glared at him as he pushed himself off her with a casual nod. "By the way, your belt is untied."

Ha Ni looked down and seeing her robe hanging open, she gave a horrified shriek and frantically yanked it close. "Baek Seung Jo!"

"Keep up the good work in tennis." Seung Jo called over his shoulder with a smirk. "From what I can see it is doing wonders for you." He gave a little wave at her swinging jaw before heading down to escort an irate and late Eun Jo to school.

Horrified, she watched him leave with a new level of embarrassment. With a rare curse, she slammed her head into the wall and sank to the ground. "Damn it. I'm in such trouble."
