Special thanks to those of you still around, I must say I'm sorry to disappoint you. But this will not be a retelling of the last undertale crossover I did.

No, this one will be much better, at the expense of some very awful puns. You have my apologies.

Also I'm not exactly sure if a disclaimer is required for a fanfiction, but here is one anyway. I DO NOT OWN UNDERTALE OR NARUTO

"...that expression that you're wearing… well, i won't grace it with a description." Sans had a bad feeling about this fight. He had some rudimentary way of telling if a reset happened, and it was even easier to see if a save was loaded. He thought for sure they'd passed the 100 mark by now. Sans had killed this *child* so many times. He wondered if murdering the same person a hundred times over equated to plain old murder, or genocide.

Off topic. The human looked gleeful. Confident. 'oh shit' Sans thought.'they've already killed me. they came back to see me die a second time.'

Well, Sans didn't like that idea much. The dusty remains of Papyrus' scarf in Snowdin had filled him with such agonizing pain, and he'd wished more than anything to see his brother alive again. But Sans wasn't stupid. He'd actually seen the flow of time, nothing existed past his demise. A wall. Then, the reset.

'not doing that again.' Sans thought defiantly. He dodged a slice from the knife without saying anything. 'The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting something to change.' He told himself. And he was right.

If asked later about the situation, Sans would say he planned everything. But in reality, it was the exact opposite. It was a random action, an accident.

Chara tripped. Too overconfident, the demon overestimated its ability to take down Sans twice. Chara fell directly into an attack that was easily avoided probably 80 times.

Once Chara had fallen into a barrage of bones that shattered their chest and sternum as easily as wet tissue paper, Sans did something he wasn't supposed to do.

He grabbed Frisk's soul. Desperately in that instant, Chara chose to reset before Sans gained control over the timeline.

Sans wasn't sure why he grabbed the thing. He didn't think he had the heart to take a soul, but there it was, fidgeting in his palm. He could have absorbed it. He decided against that. Running a timeline was way too much responsibility. It wasn't a walk in the park. Sans wouldn't stand for it. It would bring him down to his last legs.

All puns aside, Sans wasn't sure what would happen if he reset using frisk's soul. The weed had done resets, and it had gone all the way back to the moment it was brought to life in the King's garden. Where would Sans go with a reset? His creation? That was years. How would he explain having a human soul?

Chara tried to reset. Nothing happened. Chara tried again. Nothing happened. Sans was flooding the soul with his magic. His own soul nature diluted the demons' determination. Obviously, Chara panicked. They shoved as much determination at Sans as they could, if his grip loosened, their soul would shatter, and they could try this again.

Sans freaked out, the soul started pushing its energy into him. It was a stupid decision on Chara's part. Honestly it just made Sans stronger. Much stronger in fact, suddenly Sans was filled with determination. A grim unhealthy will to kill collect advance defeat. Go see something new! He dropped the soul, and teleported away. Suddenly, Chara reset.

There was a dreadful pulling with the reset. A thunderous snap as a timeline was undone, shattered into pieces and stricken from existence, leaving only shards left in the next iteration of the world. This time, it didn't take Sans with. Sans was not exactly in the universe as it reset. He was moving between dimensions as he teleported, how could Chara place him where he belonged if he was out of their range of influence.

Sans was a familiar stranger to pain. He was familiar with small things being grievous to his heath, a high five once fractured multiple bones in his hand. Stubbing toes was also not recommended.

But even as a child he knew avoiding pain was always important. He used his intelligence to learn how to read body movements and attacks. Sans was one of the first beings to learn teleportation, and his blue magic could keep anything at a distance from him.

Sans was a master of evasion. So he rarely ever was harmed.

This was not pain. It was agony. Every fiber of his being grinded between dimensions. It set his brain alight and his mind screamed so loudly it seemed he could hear it. Suddenly he felt no pain, suddenly, he couldn't feel anything. Suddenly, he opened his eyes, and he was standing in a sewer.

"What's to be done with the jinchuuriki?" asked Danzo. A quick look around the room confirmed to Sarutobi Hiruzen that his hardest days as Hokage were still upon him. The faces around the room all confirmed one thing.

The Fourths Heir was not going to be a hero. The fourths heir was not going to be adopted into one of the clan families that had known Minato so well.

It dawned on the Hokage that twenty four hours ago, this council wasn't even his. Clan leaders that had fought alongside the late Hokage in a war. These people had trusted Minato with their lives and the lives of their people, and now they were looking with suspicion at his son. Perhaps it was for the best, it would be fairly obvious to anyone that looked closely at Naruto that he was the son of the Yellow Flash. Putting him in a high standing clan would just raise eyebrows.

"We will not be putting Naruto in an orphanage." Hiruzen said with conviction. The clan leaders started eyeing each other. Bandages covered a few of the Councilmen. "He's not going into one of your clans either."

"Lord Hokage '' started Fugaku. "A jinchuuriki is an asset to the village. It's not a very happy thought, but wouldn't it make sense for him to be adopted into a family that could protect his secrets?" Nara Shikaku nodded at the Uchiha and spoke.

"Previous holders of tailed beasts have mostly been isolated, and quite a few lost their minds and became as much a threat to their village as to their enemies." Shikaku explained. "The issue lies in the public's perception of them. The village will eventually find out who Naruto is, or at least what he holds, and resent him. My point is I agree with Fugaku. The boy is going to face a lot of trauma growing up and few close friends and family will keep him from going nuts and releasing the nine tails once he can't stand the abuse anymore."

"Putting him in a clan home will only put a larger target on his back, not to mention there's no guarantee that they won't still resent him." Hiruzen argued.

"That really isn't the issue." Danzo spoke up. "In maybe five years it will be known we have a new holder for the nine tailed fox, and the other villages will do everything to find out who it is. He'll need to be guarded until he can protect himself, it doesn't really matter was who watches him, or what he looks like at that point."

"Fine." The hokage sighed. "I'll admit that you have a point. The best way to ensure he stays healthy and alive is to have him adopted into a clan, or at least have guardians who are aware of his condition and can be trusted to protect and raise him."

"Properly." The Hyuuga clan head added. "Who will be responsible for him? He holds no resemblance to any of our cans save the Yamanaka, and who knows if he'll even keep his blonde hair? A child's eye and hair color can change after a few weeks, that's not unnatural."

"And then there are the whisker marks on his face." Added Tsume Inuzuka. "My clan is known to have facial markings. If we have the boy make friends with a few of my clans pups, the village might assume he's of distant relation."

"Even so, we can't have the boy adopted directly into your clan, so the issue still stands. Who will raise Naruto Uzumaki." The Nara clan head asked.

"For now, I think I will." a gray haired anbu stepped forward, taking off his dog mask. Kakashi Hatake. Age 14.

"You're still young, Captain, I don't think that's the best possible option." toned the Uchiha clan head, looking directly into Kakashi's Sharingan.

"I was trained by his father and spent plenty of time around his mother. I've been to Uzushiogakure, I have access to the Namikaze clan home and libraries. I can teach him about his container, and I can raise him to be just as selfless as his father. Who is more qualified than me?"

A wave of silence filled the council room while the members considered the idea. Kakashi would have to give up a significant part of his time in Anbu to raise a child. But with help it might be doable.

"It does solve all of our complaints." Shikamaru nodded. "He will have a clan name, and have a guardian who can both protect and relate to him."

"Fine, it's decided." The Hokage said. "Naruto Uzumaki will be raised by Kakashi Hatake for as long as Kakashi proves to be a responsible and dutiful guardian."

Hiashi Hyuuga was right, in time Naruto's bright blond hair did fade, as did the color out of one of the child's eyes. The blonde had bled into a white, almost the color of snow. His right eye also lost all color, standing out a blank metallic gray, even his pupil disappearing.

Kakashi never called himself Naruto's father, instead opting to call Naruto his little brother. And he told Naruto much about his clan, an old family large enough to form a village, and powerful enough to scare whole villages.

"Kashi?" a very young Naruto asked. "How come we have different colored eyes?"

"Well," Kakashi started, scratching his face though his mask. "I don't know why your eyes are different. But a good friend of mine gave me the Red one as a gift before he went away. Don't think about it too much, I think our eyes look really cool."

"I was reading a book about lots of med.. mednic… mednickel…"

"Medical." Kakashi helped.

"That." Naruto said with a frown. "And it said mismatched eyes are called Het...er...o..chromia." Naruto forced the word out. "So that must be what I have, because my eyes never got switched with someone else."

"Where did you get a book on medical abnormalities?' Kakshi asked with a strange inquisitive look on his face.

"The same place I got a book on agriculture. The library. I wanna start growing plants like berries."

"You mean like watermelon?" Kakashi asked with a teasing grin on his face.

"Watermelons aren't berries." Naruto said defiantly.

"Technically they are."

"That's a stupid technicality then." Naruto said back.

"Big green and red berries."

"Shut up Kashi."

"…"

"You know what I meant!" Naruto yelled. "You don't actually have to stop talking. That's creepy."

"Alright, get to bed Naruto. I think we need to start more physical training. You spent too much time with your nose in books."

Naruto was eight. And at eight years old, most Konohagakure children looked forward to graduating at the academy, playing ninja and practicing their hand seals.

Satsuki was four years older than Naruto, and knew three Jutsu by the time she was his age. She graduated early, and was already on a genin team. She was watching Sasuke, her youngest cousin, repeat the Fireball Jutsu that her clan taught to upcoming ninja.

Now, even as a genin, having a 12 year old watch an eight year old was ridiculous, but a few Uchiha clan members had begun to act strangely, and Mikoto Uchiha, Satsuki's aunt, had put out a special request mission, and for the next two weeks Satsuki was a babysitter.

Itachi, Sasuke's older brother… was out of the village with his Anbu team. Coincidentally, a certain silver haired man ran Itachi's unit. So that left a certain white haired boy home alone.

Naruto knew Sasuke, both through Kakashi and through the academy. They had a strange relationship. Naruto was mostly sarcastic, loud at times, and incredibly rowdy. But under all of that bluster was a deeply intelligent child. He and Sasuke were definitely opposites. Sasuke was quiet, observant, to the point. He spoke with reason behind his words and he spoke to few people outside his close family.

"Breath in while you do the hand seals instead of before." Naruto said after watching Sasuke cough dark smoke from his lungs. He continued writing his notes.

"He's right." Satsuki commented. Usually she wasn't allowed to help with a young Uchiha learning a Jutsu, but Naruto had already pointed it out. Her bare feet dangled in the edge of the crystal clear water. "Sasuke, you're supposed to channel the chakra into your lunges while you breathe in."

Satsuki caught a glance of herself on the water's surface. She was four or five inches taller than the boys, with smooth black hair that she kept cut short, out of convenience. She had a typical Shinobi body, built for speed instead of strength. She wore tight pants with two kunai holsters on her legs. Other than that she had traditional Uchiha garb.

Naruto was fond of the color blue for one reason or another. He wore a blue hoodie with a gray hood. Naruto did not look like a ninja, not even one in training. Being the brother of the famous Kakashi, you would assume Naruto knew a dozen Jutsu. Every one of them being incredibly rare, all learned by second hand Sharingan.

Naruto didn't know any ninjutsu. Satsuki had witnessed some of Naruto's training, and nearly all of it was chakra control and kenjutsu, sword fighting. Kakashi taught him to make use of a tanto.

"What are you doing Naruto?" Satsuki asked. She got out of the water and looked over Naruto's shoulder at his notes. Every bit of his handwriting was illegible, all except the kanji he was using for a small section of a sealing arrey.

"Well, all of these fireballs have got me curious. I know there are seals that can be used to absorb fire. So I thought about how cool it would be if I had a pair of gloves or something that absorbs fire, or at least repel it. I don't know any of the techniques required to do something like that." Naruto blinked a few times and seemed to notice Satsuki who had a dumbfounded look on her face. "But imagine how cool it would be!" she laughed at the snowy haired boy. Naruto huffed at her teasing laughter, and closed his notes.

"Hey Sasuke, I made dinner before I got here, are you hungry?"

"Naruto, if you made dinner at your house before you got here, how exactly-" she watched the ten year old pull out a small storage scroll. "Of course." Sasuke approached Naruto with an odd look on his face.

"You didn't call me over to have me eat paper did you?" Sasuke asked, with an arched eyebrow. Naruto ignored him and rolled out the scroll until three full seals showed on the paper, then taped each one and with a small amount of chakra, three steaming bowls of miso ramen burst into existence on the paper. Sasuke's eyes widened.

"It's really complicated but it's a kind of ninja art called Fuinjutsu. Kashi showed me how to make these seals. They're the same type of storage seals that the Anbu use to transport bodies. I can have hot meals like this whenever I want.'' Naruto said with a triumphant grin on his face.

Naruto neglected to mention how much time had gone into storing a few meals. He wasn't good enough at sealing to store multiple dishes, and after one use a seal was ruined. His allowance couldn't afford that many storage seals, so he had to make them himself. Naruto's calligraphy was decent, but it took multiple attempts to make one seal.

"Wow. a ninja art with the power of a thermos." sasuke said with a scowl on his face. Still, Sasuke took the bowl provided to him. He wasn't the biggest fan of ramen, but it would be something to eat. "And of course the first thing you stored is ramen. Of course." Sasuke said. Then he noticed something. "What about chopsticks?" Naruto looked dumbly at Sasuke, then groaned. "You forgot? You know how to seal food away for months but you didn't remember chopsticks?"

"It's fine." Satsuki said before Naruto could speak up, a retort already on his lips. "I'll go get some from the house."

"Idiot."

"Emo."

"Dyed hair."

"Pasty."

"Cat faced abino."

"Black head zit."

"Freaky eyes."

"Says the one from the CLAN of freaky eyes!"

"Our eyes look awesome, that's why your brother stole them. You look like you're half blind."

"Really? Last time I checked you don't have a Sharingan, Kashi is already half an Uchiha more than you."

"Will you two SHUT UP?!" Satsuki yelled. Each felt a pair of chopsticks masterfully smack them dead in the ears.

They ate quietly after that, watching the sun set. The sky was clear, and after they finished their meal, the air was starting to cool, and the sun was red on the horizon. Suddenly Satsuki asked the boys something.

"How is the academy these days, I hear there are quite a few clan heirs this year."

Both boys groaned, but Sasuke rested his head in his hands. "That bad huh?" Naruto shudded and began to tell the story.

Naruto had just been dropped off at the academy. His arms ached under his blue hoodie, where if one looked, they would find red welts slowly healing. Every morning with Kakashi involved training with a tanto, and the flat side of the blade always found purchase on Naruto's skin.

Regardless of this fact, the white haired boy could be seen waiting alone by the swings of the playground, focused entirely on his book. It was a book on astronomy, and Naruto was busily reading paragraph upon paragraph on events to happen in the night sky.

Suddenly, a shaggy blur tackled Naruto, sending his book flying out of his hands, and in no time, Naruto was pinned on his stomach with one arm pinned against his back, and the other pinned above his head.

"Gotcha! You should pay more attention pup, otherwise my little brother's going to outshine you in the academy." one Hana Inuzuka said, as she pushed her knee deeper into Naruto's back. Naruto grunted, and mumbled something into the dirt. "What's that?" Hana leaned closer with a smile. "I couldn't understand you though the sound of my victory over you Mr. Uzumaki." Naruto whipped his head back, showing surprising flexibility, and headbutted her chin. Hana moved with the blow to avoid much force behind it, having to let go of Naruto's arms. He spun on the ground, kicking out at her as he did a handstand. She dodged again, and laughed.

"That's better!' Hana encouraged him. She opened her mouth to say more, but was tackled at the waist by her younger brother Kiba, who pushed with all his might to bring his sister down. She laughed openly at him.

"Nice try, shrimp." Hana said with a big grin on her face, she hugged her brother, and turned to the boy with snow colored hair. "So you both are finally old enough to go into the academy." She said with much nostalgia in her voice. Naruto, who was practically bouncing with adrenaline, took deep breaths and tried to speak evenly.

"Yeah. And we'll probably be jonin before you too. You fight like a girl." Naruto said, hoping to instigate another fight, if only to ease his jitters about the first day.

"You're not wrong." She said with a grin. "You fight like a newborn kitten, whiskers." Naruto growled at that, and suddenly caught sight of something. Two figures were approaching the school building. Both had dark raven hair. Naruto's frown deepened.

"She didn't ask for a shot by shot of the entire day, Uzumaki." Sasuke interrupted.

"I'm getting there."

"Nobody cares about your pet dogs."

"If you don't shut up I'm going to give Ino your address. Then you can finally read fan mail."

Sasuke remained quiet, his pale features almost ghostly white.

The classroom was large, and had rows and rows of pews that served as desks. Naturally, Naruto chose to sit with Kiba.

They spoke at great lengths about bacon, and the availability of it on the battlefield. Kiba insisted that bacon would be impossible to store safely without the threat of an enemy smelling the delicacy.

Naruto argued that no one had ever murdered someone while they were cooking bacon, and the power of bacon could turn enemies into allies.

Kiba could not argue that logic until the issue of what to do when there is one piece left came up.

Naruto gravely replied that there could never be a final piece. If there was, catastrophic consequences would befall the short lived alliance.

"Naruto-." Satsuki warned.

"Okay okay fine."

Sasuke had taken a chair at the front of the room, as it was the place where he would be noticed first, and therefore have his questions answered first. This had the unfortunate side effect of everyone who came in the class after him seeing his face. This was Sasuke's first dire mistake.

The instructors, a pair of chunin named Iruka and Mizuki, greeted the class. The class began with each child stating their name and something interesting about themselves. This soon became a contest within the classroom, instead of telling an interesting fact about themselves, the children bragged about their families. When it was Sasuke's turn to speak, he stood and turned to face the class, speaking clearly. This would be his second mistake.

"My name is Sasuke. I'm the son of the clan head of the Uchiha, and I'm going to graduate before all of you." He said with a determined look on his cherub like face. Naruto held his breath, his cheeks puffing out as he held in his laughter. Finally, after a few seconds of silence, he let loose a laugh so loud it filled the room. Suddenly everyone turned to look at Naruto. He whipped a tear from his eye and sighed, still giggling.

"You're such a drama queen." Naruto laughed. "Kashi says Itachi is dramatic too." Sasuke glared at Naruto, his black eyes like two coals ready to burst into red flame.

"Mr. Uzuamki, since you're so eager to speak, then give us your introduction." Umino Iruka stated. Naruto nodded.

"My name is Naruto, and my clan is the Uzumaki. And an interesting fact about me is I want to remake the Uzumaki clan."

"Didn't the Uzumaki have their own village?" said a spiky haired boy. Shikamaru Nara, if Naruto remembered. "Do you plan on building that up again from nothing?"

"Aren't you the only Uzumaki in the village?" A pink haired girl said.

"Well once I get married there will be twice as many as that, and I'm sure I'm not the only Uzumaki left. I just have to find them, and become strong enough so they know I can protect them." naruto said with a fire in his eyes. He leveled his eyes at Sasuke who was smirking.

"Who's the over dramatic one?" Sasuke said.

"Stay away from me Uchiha, or I'll make it so you'll never have a sharingan!"

"You're half blind already, how exactly do you plan on doing that, cyclops."

"Bring it!" Naruto challenged, standing on his desk. Kiba yelled in triumph next to him as he picked up a random student and threw him towards the front of the class.

"CLAN WAR!" Kiba shouted, running at the Aburame clan heir. A chair flew through the air, landing on its side and sliding to the feet of a VERY irritated Iruka, a vein bulging in his head. Above all of the chaos, the sound of sasuke and naruto yelling as they fought on the ground, wrestling and throwing punches.

"Has there ever been a fight this big in the academy before?" Mizuki asked, amused to Iruka. Iruka shouted back at him.

"HAS THERE EVER BEEN A FIGHT ON THE FIRST DAY OF CLASS BEFORE?"

"Hmm… I don't think so. A few pranks back in the day, oh your remember Anko don't you?"

"Don't mention her name, she might show up and make this situation worse." iruka said with a very unamused look on his face. "EVERYONE SHUT UP" he shouted so loudly the tables shook. Every child in the classroom turned in shock to look at Iruka, all except Kiba, who was on the ground at Shino's feet. Sasuke took this opportunity to Punch Naruto, who had him pinned on the ground until that point.

"That. Is. Enough. Back to your seats. We will NOT have this happen again, and anyone who instigates a fight from this moment forward is expelled." Iruka glared at the class as they took their seats. Kiba rose from the ground with a black eye, and Naruto was rubbing his jaw. Unfortunately, everyone had seen the princely Sasuke defeat the rowdy and uncouth Naruto, and this had been Sasuke's last mistake.

"So the reason you both are so upset about the academy is because you can't beat eachother up in class anymore?" Satsuki said with a incredulas look on her face.

Sasuke shook his head and groaned. "No." he said simply.

"Sasuke impressed everyone in class. Now he's a hero and all the girls want him to be their prince in shining armor." Naruto said mockingly.

"How is that in any way bad for you Naruto?" Satsuki questioned. "Are you jealous or something?"

"Ew! Not of Sasuke and his fangirls. Our seats are alphabetic, and we have to sit next to each other." Naruto explained. "I get yelled at every day for not moving seats so his future wives can smother him. And I can't hit them when they push me around because then I'll get expelled." Naruto looked genuinely irritated. "He doesn't even thank me!"

"It's your fault moron! You started the fight with me!" Sasuke yelled.

"Dude! I'm SORRY you have a ton of girls chasing you, seriously I am! They. Are. So. Freaking. Loud!" Naruto wailed.

"They keep sending me love letters. There are more stacked on my desk every day." Sasuke said. He shivered.

"We read a few of them Satsuki." Naruto said, his wide mismatched eyes filled with a sense of horror. "Not all of them were from girls."

Satsuki couldn't take it, she burst out laughing, and Sasuke and Naruto shared a rare moment of understanding. Their eyes locked on eachother a a deal was made instantaneously. They turned on the elder Uchiha with venom in their eyes.

Outside on a clearing with three pegs right in the middle of it, stood a very tired Naruto, his head hung down and he was damp with a layer of sweat that stung his eyes. His arms once again ached and a tanto was laying on the ground in front of him. Naruto's hands were red, and he felt them throb to the beat of his heart. The insides of his palm were rubbed red, the grip of his tanto scraped at them every time it was knocked from his hands.

"Pick it up." Kakashi's voice said. All laziness gone and a cold steel in his voice. "Your parents didn't die just for you to give up." Naruto shook with emotion and robotically picked up his tanto. Kakshi lifted his own in a reverse grip, and crouched, his long grey hair fell over his sharingan eye, seeing every exploit in Naruto's stance, which was non-existent.

Kakashi rushed in, intent on striking Naruto's tanto from his hands one last time before calling the training done for today. Kakasi rushed forwards, and for a moment, just as he swung down on Naruto's blade, a blue flash burst in Kakshi's vision, and he felt as though he had been hit in the chest, he was fung backwards several feet, forcing him to roll with the force and slide backwards on his nin-sandals. Kakashi's head whipped around the clearing, looking for an attacker, but all he saw was Naruto's lifted arm, palm forwards, facing his direction before he collapsed. Naruto's left eye glowed faintly before he fell unconscious.
