Chapter 13: Rewrite The Stars

Cristina woke up with that uneasy feeling again. She has been feeling that way ever since Owen confessed and kissed the hell out of her a week ago. It wasn't that long when people around her started noticing the changes in her demeanor, especially Jackson. She had refused any contact from him, which made him thought if he ever did something wrong. He tried communicating with her but everytime he was alone with her, she would shut him down and told him she was just fine.

Cristina took a shower, put on some casual but very fine looking clothes, applied light makeup, and drove the car to her sister's place for some carpool. The car doors opened. Gabby sat beside her sister and Jo sat at the back. They looked chirpy and chatty, like any twisted sisters would do. They are definitely the twisted sisters 2.0, she thought. She groaned at their loudness which made them stop.

"Morning. You're grumpy, again." Gabriella noted.

"What do you mean again?" She had this sharp, annoyed, look at her face.

"You've been really grumpy for the past few days. Even Jo thought so." Gabby replied and Jo's eyes widened when she was brought in the subject. She didn't really want to get involve.

Cristina ignored her sister's remarks about her and drove to the hospital. They grabbed some coffee and croissants at the cart in front of the hospital. Gabby and Jo began with their chirpy conversations then Meredith appeared with little Ellis on her arms.

"It's nanny's day-off! So, Ellis is here with me while Bailey and Zola are at school." The presence of Ellis' adorable stance made Cristina feel better and smile.

"Hi Mer, hi Ellis!" Jo greeted.

"You know, why don't we take Ellis to daycare and you try fixing Miss Grouchy here." Gabby took Ellis from Meredith's arms and left with Jo.

"They're chatty and annoying. Are we that annoying?" Cristina groaned and rolled her eyes at them.

"So what's up with the attitude? You've been like this for over a week. Give yourself a break." They began walking while sipping coffee.

"I am not... I am very much like this Meredith." Cristina scoffed.

"Yeah, to people you're annoyed at, not the people you love to be with. You're even giving me the hissy-fits for the past week. So, tell me, what is wrong? I'm your person, remember? Or was I replaced and I wasn't given a notice." Meredith made the remark then Owen suddenly appeared, walking towards them. Cristina's pace began diverting to another direction and Meredith followed her.

"Oh, so this is the way to your office now, huh?" Meredith rolled her eyes and it hit her that Cristina's cold attitude must have something to do with Owen.

"Fine." Cristina grabbed Mer's arm and dragged her in the supply closet. She continued. "It's Owen."

"I already figured that out a minute ago."

Cristina took a deep breathe. "He said he still loves me then he kissed me."

Meredith's eyes widened. "What? Shut. Up."

"Yeah." Cristina nodded.

"Did you kiss him back? What about Jackson?"

"I did, with the tongue and all of that. Jackson is... he's so good and what I needed. I was finally moving on and then Owen had to screw it up. Now, I don't know what I feel for Owen or Jackson."

"What do you feel for Jackson?"

"We're just starting and I like him. I do. He's a lot different from the person I met before." Cristina rested her hands to her forehead.

"You got two guys pining over you, you have to choose." Meredith held Cristina's shoulders.

"This is like you years ago with McDreamy and McVet. This is stupid!" Cristina rolled her eyes and opened the supply closet door to leave.

"The question is, who's McDreamy between them?" Meredith laughed at her comment and Cristina rolled her eyes.

Teddy was holding Allison in her arms as she stepped inside the daycare center of the hospital. She handed her daughter to the daycare staff and saw Gabby and Jo with Ellis. Gabby also saw her also and approched her while Jo left the room.

"Dr. Altman, I haven't seen you in a while. How is UCLA? I heard you started a research there, congratulations. Well, you've been missed here a lot."

Gabby had her bright smile plastered all over Teddy.

"Have you seen Dr. Hunt. I was just dropping off Allison for their weekend together."

"Uh, no. I just dropped Ellis here. I'll tell him if I see him." Gabby was about to leave when Teddy had another question.

"How about Tom? I mean, Dr. Koracick?"

Gabby's eyes widened at her question. "Tom? Uh... uh, Dr. Koracick, right. I'll tell him you're here if I see him too."

"Look. I'm sorry. I somehow promised to mentor you but I had to leave." Teddy patted Gabby's shoulders.

"No... It's okay. My sister is here. She actually offered to mentor me. So, it worked out. So... I'll tell Dr. Hunt and Dr. Koracick, if I see them, to come find and see you." Gabby had this awkward smile and left.

"Well, not together! Please." Teddy replied as Gabby left the room.

Cristina was at her clinical trial office, looking through some candidate's scans. The doors opened, notioning the entrance of a late Gabby who was straightening her lab coat.

"You're late. How can you be possibly late? We arrived here together." Cristina asked while her focus was still at the monitor.

"I saw Dr. Altman at the daycare. She brought her daughter there."

Cristina stopped with an incredulous look upon her face. She looked at Gabby who looked like an inncoent pup. "Teddy's here?"

"She was also looking for Dr. Hunt and Dr. Koracick."

Cristina wiped off the look and shook her head. She diverted her attention back to the monitors in front of her. "Alright, enough with the chats. Come here and take a look at the scans. I want you to see the hearts of our viable candidates for the clinical trial."

Gabby stepped closer to look at the scans at the monitor. She gave some points about the similiraties and impressed Cristina.

"Alright, very good Dr. Yang. You'll be taking this point, sorting the scans for the best candidates. Then, take the cardiothoracic junior residents with you to meet the most viable patients for work up to sort them further. Last phase will be mine along with you in the OR. If you'll do a great job, I might give you one to do solo." Gabby nodded with an enthusiastic look in her face especially when she heard the solo surgery on a groundbreaking clinical trial. Cristina stood up and let Gabby take her place. She pushed the mountains of charts for her sister to work on.

Cristina was walking through the hallways of the hospital when she felt someone grip her arm. It was Jackson. He brought her to an empty on-call room. He looked frustrated and she knew why.

"Okay, can we talk now?" He asked.

"What's there to talk about?"

"You, us, what's going on? Did I do something that made you upset? Cristina, talk to me."

"We're fine-"

"No. Don't say you're fine because you're not. We're not. You've been distant lately and it's driving me nuts."

"I can't tell you. It's something that might upset you." She crossed her arms.

"Is it Hunt?" He asked then she made this uneasy look on her face. It dawned him. He continued. "It's Hunt! What did he do?"

"No. Okay. You know what, this is stupid. I don't want to talk about it."

"Did you sleep with him?" He asked and her mouth gaped.

"Oh my god, we we're trying remember? I am involved with you! Why would I sleep with him?" Her hands were in the air.

"Because the way he looks at you. Cristina, it's killing me that he looks at you that way. Trust me, I don't want to be this affected but I am. Ever since the earthquake I found myself having these feelings. I have feelings Cristina and don't ignore that." He walked pass her and shut the door angrily. She took a deep breathe and contemplated at the situation she was stuck in.

Teddy found Owen at the MRI room. He was getting his patient some scans. She knocked at the open door to give him a signal she was coming in. He smiled. They seem better than before.

"Allison is at daycare."

"Thank you for dropping her off."

"Sure. How are you?" She just had to ask.

"I'm good. Thanks. How's LA?"

"It's great actually. I quite found peace there. I am at the state of my life where I have work and my daughter and it's everything I need to be happy. So, I'm happy. Are you happy, Owen?"

"Me? Happy?" He was taken back with the question. Was he happy? He thought.

"Cristina's here. You know I really don't believe in fate and stuff like that but us not being together and her being here. I believe it's a coincidence and a reason and fate."

"Fate." He nodded slowly trying to comprehend what she was saying.

She laughed at his questionable facial expressions. "Stop repeating everything I said. You know, years before, the two of us were happy to be just friends and I was happy for you and Cristina. She was everything for you. You loved her so much that you were willing to give up your dreams for her."

"What are you trying to say Teddy?"

"I'm saying this ridiculous thing but, it's fate. You still love her. I can see it in you and it never left. I'm saying you fight for her."

"I am. Don't worry. A week ago I told her I still love her and I never heard back from her."

Teddy smiled but it did stung a bit. She still loves him though, but she knew it was done for the both of them.

"Fight harder champ. I have to go." She patted his back and left the room. He went back to his patient.

Cristina was at the tunnels eating her dinner. She lodged the fork aggresively at her chicken salad. Meredith came in with food at her hand and squinted her eyebrows at the scene she was witnessing.

"Are you trying to impale the fork pass through the container?" Meredith joked.

"Jackson said he has feelings for me? What the hell are feelings?"

"Oh! I see he made things harder." She took a seat next to her twisted sister.

"I've never eaten at this place. It's cool!" Amelia came with dinner at her hands too. She scooted and took her seat next to Cristina. Apparently, the look on Cristina's face was not pleased.

"Why is she here?" Cristina asked.

"She's part of this now." Meredith said.

"So Jackson has feelings for you. Wow." Amelia heard the conversation.

Cristina gave up. She might as well get used to Amelia. She's brilliant after all.

"Fine. I might talk about Owen. Are you good with that?" Cristina tilted her head at Amelia.

"Please. I so moved on from him. I have my happy place now. And Owen and I are friends. We're friends too, right?" Amelia said.

"We are friends?" Cristina replied.

"Okay! Let's go back to Jackson and Owen. So, are you flipping the coin? Or do you go with the dates like I did before?" Meredith laughed.

"No and no. I am staying with Jackson. That's it." Cristina firmly said.

"But you have stronger feelings for Owen. How is that going to work?" Amelia asked.

"I don't have stronger feelings for Owen! Why did you say that?"

"By the way you're looking at him." Meredith and Amelia said in union. Cristina's mouth gaped and she stood up. She was getting annoyed. She was about to say something but she figured that it would do more damage so she just left the two with the smug look on their faces. As she left, the two laughed. Amelia looked at Meredith with amusement. "I get why you love her Mer, she's awesome!" Amelia said.

Teddy was about to leave when she saw Tom at the nurses' station. She asked him if they could talk so they went to an empty on-call room. Gabby who was at the hallway saw the interaction of the two. She ignored a feeling then left to tend her patient. At the on-call room. Tom was seated at the bunk bed and Teddy was standing at the opposite side. She smiled at him knowing he looked well.

"I just want to tell you I'm sorry. The way we had things going on and a possible way that I might have used you for the feelings I felt. I'm sorry. But I did love you Tom. Right now, I just feel I'm not good enough for you."

He alternately looked at his hands and her. "Okay."

"I'm permanently saying goodbye Tom. Thank you for everything. I'm sorry again." She took a step forward, kissed his cheeks and left the room. He stood up and left the room after a few minutes. He felt okay with it. It was time for him to move on.

"Hey!" Gabby leaned at the nurses's station next to Jo who was handing the tablet back to the nurses. She signed some discharged forms and put her pen back to the front pocket of her lab coat. She smiled and looked at Gabby. "What's going on?"

"I haven't had sex since I got here and that means months. I might loose my mojo if I don't get that soon."

"So you plan to whore out now?" Jo chuckled at her friend's ridiculous statement.

"I'm saying I need it now."

"I'm not giving it to you." Jo replied with a smug look on her face.

"Okay. No. Not from you. How about an intern?"

"How about Koracick? You two are friends right? You look like you like him." Jo said.

"What! I don't like him!"

"Oh you do. And he likes you too. I can tell." Jo smiled at her. She shook her head and left even more annoyed than before.

Owen came to Cristina's office. He knocked on her door and he heard that her voice telling him to come in. He went inside and closed the door behind him. He stood there and she stopped whatever she was doing.

"What do you need Dr. Hunt?" Her tone doesn't sound amused.

"Cristina-" He was about to continue when she stood up and cut his words.

"Don't Cristina me. I am confused Owen. You confuse me. I was done with you then you came in again. You know why I agreed to come back here? Because I thought you already have everything. Married with kids! That was my indication to come back. If I knew you did not get married I would have stayed in Zurich and let Gabby and Meredith run this place. I was supposed to be done." Her emotions were all over the place. She was so frustrated with him.

"I'm sorry."

"I like Jackson. I do. He's better."

"But you love me. Do you still love me Cristina?" His eyes stared at her like he was looking at her soul.

"I don't know. Honestly, I don't know. You're just somebody from my past. I want somebody who wants me, for just me."

"But I do." They were interrupted when a familiar face opened the door.

"Hey, are you ready-" Jackson saw Owen standing behind the door and her across the room at her office table. "Sorry. I should have knocked first." Jackson sensed tension at the room.

"No. You came in at the right time. Let's go?" Cristina removed her lab coat and grabbed her belongings. She left Owen alone at her office and went home with Jackson. Owen sighed at the sight of her being with another man. Was he supposed to give up now, he thought. He also left the room right after them.

Tom was trying to sleep at the on-call room. He wanted to go back to his hotel and sleep soundly at his comfy bed instead of the rustic hard on-call room beds, but he needed to stay to monitor his patient. He then heard the door opened and the light coming from the outside crept in for a second when it was closed again. He peeked to see who it could it be and he was surprised to see Gabby standing in front of him.

"Oh hey, you going home?" He rose up from his position and took a seat instead.

"You want to forget Teddy?" She took a deep breathe.

"What? We're past that. She just said goodbye."

"I haven't had sex ever since I got here."

"Okay? And?"

She rolled her eyes and started taking off the clip that's been holding her hair up. She ran her finger through her hair to fix it.

"Oh okay." He was starting to get it but didn't know what to do.

"I'm saying maybe you can give something to me and in return you might forget her." She took off her scrub top and tossing it on the floor. His eyes were fixated on hers. He smiled.

"Okay. Are you sure about this?" He just have to asked and she was annoyed again. He continued taking her bottom scrub pants off. She smiled back.

"I'm sure because I need this to have my mojo back. This is just sex. That's it." She had to be firm for him to understand. He stood up and pressed her against the door then kissed her.

Cristina and Jackson arrived at her home. He placed the keys at the counter.

"So, you want to tell me what that was earlier between you and Hunt?"

"Are you prying now?"

"I'm trying to communicate. I don't know what's happening to you." His voice had tension in it. She was seriously getting annoyed.

"Okay, so you want to do this now, huh! You want to know the truth?" He pushed her hard enough. "A week ago he told me he still loves then he kissed me. Are you happy now?"

He was taken back with her confession. He did not see it coming.

"What did you say?"

"I said nothing because I like this. Us. Okay. And him... I don't know." Her eyes softened. She looked so confused and defeated.

"I'm sorry." He said.

"It's not your fault."

"I knew what I was getting too with you. I was there remember? You and Hunt throught it all. And I knew how much you loved each other."

He picked up the keys again while her eyes followed his moves. "You figure out what you really want." He moved closer to her and cupped her face with his hands. He smiled while lovingly looking at her beautiful face then he kissed her lightly... then heavily that took her breath away. He pulled over and smiled at her again. She smiled back.

"You figure it out and I hope it's in my favor. I don't want you to have a hard time. If it's him then it's him. If it's me, I'll be the happiest man Cristina." He kissed her lightly again then left.
