A/N: Ok, I've spent almost 85 hours playing Code Vein. I got all 3 endings, got all the Blood Codes, mastered all Blood Code Gifts, and ended up at level 203 in the end. I think I might go for the platinum if I feel like it.
As for my reasoning behind this story, the true ending wasn't what I expected. It wasn't bad, but it was far less grandiose than I expected. I mean, Io sacrifices herself, becomes the Weeping Tree, and basically solves most of the revenants' problems in one fell swoop. Then our group leaves towards the outside world, which as I've recently learned, takes place in the God Eater timeline. Which I know nothing about, but it's interesting that this game aligns with another universe.
Despite that, To Eternity is my favorite ending just because of the way it's set up along with the music really sells such a bittersweet moment. It's sad and beautiful all at the same time, and it's my personal favorite ending even though it's not the best ending. But that's just me.
Considering I'm having some seriously annoying writer's block on a sequel as well as a planning out a rewrite of an ongoing series, I felt like taking a break. So I decided to make this. I know Code Vein isn't that popular of a genre on this site, but doesn't matter. I want to write it anyway.
And yes. The photo I used for this story is what my character looks like. Her clothing is one of the least revealing things possible because I prefer the badass torn clothing as opposed to little clothing at all. Plus, Io covers that quota plenty for me with them tig ol' bitties.
This story is an alternate ending for the game, so you can imagine your character in the place of all of this if you want. Just adjust appearances and/or mannerisms if your character is a male. And finally, my character's name for this story will be Anna. Cause again, I prefer a more personal touch to stories that had more distant interactions.
Anyway, enough of this Author's Note. Let's get into it.
Anna winced as she forced a small piece of the Purging Thorn out of her side. Then promptly jumped back when the Virgin Born stomped on the exact spot she was standing just a second ago.
"Anna!" Louis called before he was forced back from a Thorn that flew at him, sending him sliding back on his feet when he raised his sword to block some of the projectile's force.
"I'm fine!" the revenant called back as the wound started to close when she focused on her regeneration.
Anna had fought countless Lost of different shapes, sizes, abilities, and speeds. Including some particularly annoying hedgehog assholes in the Ridge Of Frozen Souls. And to this day, those stupid Thorns remained at the top of her list of irritating, devastating attacks. And the newly frenzied Silva, who had all the powers of the old Queen, could shoot one with ease.
Flipping backwards several times in order to avoid several stomps aimed at her, Anna leaped in the air before dashing forward in mist form with her blade out at her side.
Part of The Virgin Born's head was sliced off, causing it to screech in both anger and a bit of pain before a large amount of purple energy started to build up around the creature.
"Get away!" Yakumo exclaimed, but Anna had already dashed back in midair while drawing her Black Bayonet in her free hand. Then she fired several purple homing bullets with an extremely fast trigger finger.
Her dash left her just outside the range of the AOE attack, but the bullets hit their mark. And the top left of the creature's head fell to the ground with a wet thud at the same time Anna hit the ground.
"Mia! Focus on the chest!" Anna said, looking to the girl in question. She nodded as both women raised their Bayonets and drew from their ichor to make their shots more powerful.
Silva was having none of that and immediately lashed out with his smaller left arm. Anna leapt over the sweeping move in time, but Mia was knocked back. But Jack teleported behind the younger girl and caught her before she flew into the stone wall behind her.
"Thanks," Mia said, receiving a mute nod in response before turning back to the fight.
Anna, who was smacked down to the ground after jumping over the swing, fired her charged Bayonet shot at Silva's chest, leaving a small, smoking hole the size of her head. But she'd have a hard time dodging the hand that was raised above her.
"Anna!" Eva exclaimed before sending a small wave of sand towards the redhead. Though rather than doing any harm, the sand carried her away from under the crushing blow.
"Thanks!" Anna called back as she quickly got to her feet with a stylish rotation of her body that looked like some sort of break dance move.
"What's it take to kill this thing?" Louis said, who had taken a position next to Anna along with all the others.
"Same way you take down any revenant. Go for the heart," she said before making her Bayonet disappear as she two handed her Queenslayer Blade and raised it to chest level.
"That's going to be a lot harder than you make it sound," Mia pointed out.
"Everything important usually is. But it's all I got," Anna said as her friends leaped away from Silva's smaller right arm that that would've swept them aside if they hadn't moved. But she was the only one who didn't move, deciding to crouch while raising her sword above her head.
Her grip held despite the force of the swing, her Blade managing to cut Silva's index finger off. Then she followed it up with a Lightning Spike that further injured the spot on his chest that she blasted with her Bayonet.
"She's opened a window! Take it!" Louis yelled as he ran up to the Virgin Born.
Jumping over the Thorn that was fired at him, Louis held Burning Crimson in front of him as he dashed forward to impale the creature in the chest. But the momentum from his dash was suddenly lost when he got close.
"Wha-What's happening?" Louis questioned, his eyes wide as he looked down to the ground.
Beneath him, there were several purple orbs that were slowly drawing in everyone who was near one. In fact, the only one able to resist the pull of orbs was Anna, who was running towards Silva as fast as her legs could carry her.
"Get under it!" she exclaimed.
"Easier said than done!" Eva shouted back, who was trying and failing to resist the pull. All the while the Virgin Born's hands started to glow a bright purple.
"Not good! Not good!" Yamuko exclaimed, sticking Oni Bane in the ground in order to prevent himself from being pulled in any more. But he knew there was no hope of him dodging whatever Silva's next attack was going to be.
Jack made his way to Eva and teleported them away from the beam that would've hit her had he not intervened. But his eyes widened when Silva split the beam off with both hands, clearly aiming to hit everyone with the blast.
Anna however, was not idle. Raising her hands while floating in the air by a purple mist, the revenant cast Foulblood Barrier on each of her friends. And it turned what would've likely been an absolutely devastating beam attack into something that only burned everyone's skin. Something all of them could easily heal with their regeneration.
Yamuko smiled. That move had come from his Blood Code, and he was so glad that he had given Anna his when he did. It certainly came in handy when she had a seemingly limitless ichor pool. She had used so many Gifts thus far, and hadn't shown any sign of running on empty.
"Nice!" Yamuko exclaimed before he suddenly felt himself being lifted in the air by Eva's sand.
"Go for it!" the scarred revenant told him.
"Don't have to tell me twice!" Yakumo exclaimed as he cast Flashing Fang on himself. Then Eva launched him at the Virgin Born's chest, and Yakumo cocked Oni Bane back before stabbing Silva in the chest with all of the force he could muster. And it was only after his sword landed that he realized that it was also buffed with lightning.
Anna was a real team player, and that was a big reason most of their fights together ended fast. Emphasis on 'most,' because this one was taking some time.
"Room for one more?" Louis quipped, joining his friend as he stuck Burning Crimson in Silva's chest alongside Oni Bane.
"More the merrier," Yamuko said as dark blue blood started dripping onto their swords. "And I think yours made all the difference."
Their matching grins quickly disappeared when more purple energy started to pool around the Virgin Born. But it wasn't like the bright purple energy that signified he was going for an AOE. No, it was more like he was building more energy.
"Seriously?" Yamuko questioned as he and Louis leaped off Silva's chest just in case he retaliated. "It's only getting stronger?"
"Guess that's how you know this isn't going to be the usual cakewalk," Louis said.
"Concentrate, you two. Things are only going to get harder," Jack said as the Virgin Born roared. Then it immediately ascended in the air while summoning numerous amounts of Purging Thorns around him.
"You just had to say something, didn't you?" Anna said sarcastically, causing Jack to grimace. He couldn't stand these stupid Thorns anymore than she could.
"Brace yourselves!" Eva exclaimed as the Thorns started firing themselves at everyone. What came after was some of the fastest Gift casting any of them had seen.
Anna, knowing this wasn't going to an easy thing to deal with, cast Iron Will, Royal Heart, Foulblood Barrier, and Ablative Blood. All within the span of two seconds.
"This is still gonna hurt," Anna thought before bracing herself.
And it did. No one had been spared from being hit with the Thorns, but the damage that they caused was nothing everyone couldn't regenerate from. Though that was likely because of the considerable amount of defense Anna had given them along with Yamuko casting a Fouldblood Barrier of his own. So what would've likely been a devastating attack was toned down quite a bit because of their efforts.
"Amazing..." Eva trailed.
Besides Mia, Eva boasted the highest Ichor pool out of anyone of the group. At least she thought she did until Anna got to casting as much as she was. She had always been one for melee combat and sporting a Black Bayonet with a Lightning, Flame, or Blood Spike for occasional long range when needed.
But seeing her cast like she was doing now... it was clear that she sported an Ichor pool beyond any of them. She just never utilized it before because it wasn't her style.
Jack was the next to move in towards Silva, taking advantage of Silva's brief pause to teleport towards his chest, slashing at his chest five times in the blink of an eye. But it seemed Silva had made himself a lot more durable after powering up, considering the slashes barely did anything to the chest wound that was just barely open now.
"It's focusing all of its healing on its heart," Mia said, who had voiced Jack's observations perfectly.
"So we can't whittle it down slowly," Yamuko said.
"Then it's going to have to be one powerful shot," Anna said as her Queenslayer Blade disappeared and was replaced by Mido's Judgement's Edge. He may have been one of the most despicable assholes she had the misfortune of knowing, but at least he had an efficient enough greatsword.
"What do you have in mind?" Louis asked.
"It's going to take a lot of casting and a little bit of luck. But I also can't be interrupted while I'm doing all of this, so make sure and keep it occupied," Anna said.
"Got it," Louis said with a nod.
"Just what do you plan to do?" Jack asked.
"If all goes well, kill it. You want me to explain first or you want to get this done?" Anna questioned. Silva answered that question for Jack by trying to sweep the group away with a wave of its arms.
"Well, she's got a plan. All we have to do is do our part," Eva said as she fired several bayonet shots that didn't do much damage. But it did garner Silva's attention, which he showed her by leaping in the air and would've stomped on her if she hadn't rolled out of the way.
"That's plenty good enough for me," Mia said before looking to Eva. "Let's see if we can make it focus that healing on some other areas."
"And we'll keep it distracted up close," Yamuko said before running forward with Louis and Jack next to him.
While the others did their thing, Anna had her eyes closed while focusing all of her energy. She boasted a deep ichor pool, but this was going to really test how deep that pool really was.
So she cast Adrenaline, Blow Of Madness, Merciless Reaper, Overdrive, Bridge To Glory, Flashing Fang, and Sacrificial Edge. And topped it all off with Fatal Surge. Every single thing she learned that could help her hit harder, she cast it.
Jack felt her use the gift they had both shared, and threw himself into fighting against the Virgin Born with a renewed vigor.
"Do it kid," he thought as he avoided a laser fired in his direction.
With a fierce battle cry and a running speed that was comparable to that of light, Anna ran up to Silva and leaped in the air and hit it with a Swallow Cutter that had her spinning three times while she was aimed right at the Virgin Born's chest.
The blow looked as if it happened in slow motion - everyone watching as the blow violently tore right the Virgin Born's chest, spraying a large cloud of blue blood everywhere.
Silva's back arched from the force of the blow before falling forward, his body slowly turning to ash when his body settled. Anna, who had landed on her feet behind him, raised Mido's sword above her head and flicked it to the side to fling the blood off it in one smooth gesture.
"Let's just be glad she never turned to the Lost," Louis said, and Yamuko nodded mindlessly.
"We don't have a lot of time," Jack said, looking up at Silva's throne with a frown. Now that Silva was dead, or at least down for the count at the moment, there was no more Red Mist.
"Hey kid!" he continued, causing Anna to bristle in a slightly annoyed fashion. She hated when Jack called her that. "Can you handle this?"
Mia put a hand on Anna's arm, which jerked her out of what daze she was trapped in. She looked at the blond and gave her a nod before approaching Silva's body. She could feel the presence of each and every single relic in his body.
The plan was to just absorb Silva's piece and take his place on the throne so she could keep the Red Mist up. But that just left her immobile and the other Successors still stuck in their Crypts. There just had to be a better way.
She could feel the pull of the power emanating from the relics, whispering at her in a way that was more intense than any of the Vestiges she had ever come in contact with. Even if she could handle all that power and didn't turn into the next Queen, there was no way to tell what would come of it.
She wanted this cycle of sacrifice to end, and there was only one way to find out what this choice would lead to. So she put her hand against the Virgin Born and in one flash of movement, every single relic shot in the air above her head.
"Ok, take this slow, but not too slow," Anna thought before taking in Silva's relic. The energy that filled her was intense enough to draw out a rough sounding scream from her throat.
Louis and the others watched as Anna took in the relic's power, their eyes on the other relics floating above her.
"Is she... no..." Jack trailed as he looked at the relics above them.
"She's trying to absorb all the relics," Eva said, her eyes wide.
"That's not going to lead to anything good," Louis said, looking worriedly at Anna.
"It's alright..." Io trailed, who was approaching from behind everyone.
"Io!" Louis said, surprised to see the girl there. But she didn't pay him any mind in favor of the woman that she had pledged her loyalty to.
Anna looked at Io with surprise in her eyes when she grasped her arm. Both of her eyes were dark blue with the Queen's energy.
"Io, what are you doing?" she asked, doing her best to try and focus on the energy that was still entering her body.
"Helping you," Io said softly.
"Did you mean anything..."
"This has nothing to do with my duty," Io interrupted gently. "I'm doing this because I want to."
"You have stored so many precious memories in my heart. You've done so much to try and show me what being alive was about. I've questioned my purpose many times thanks to you, and... being able to decide freely is a big part of that. So I want do this," Io said before smiling sweetly, putting a hand on Anna's cheek. "But no matter what happens... I will always be with you. You will always have a place in my heart."
Anna's eyes softened as she looked at that woman in front of her. She had changed so much in the sense that it felt like there was an air of... freedom around her now. She was choosing to do this. She was choosing to take on the burden that was meant for her.
And Anna didn't like the sound of that.
"Just as you have a place in mine. But you have a life of your own to live. And I'm going to make sure you live it," Anna said refocusing her efforts on taking in Silva's relic. The force of it sent Io flying back as every other relic quickly pierced her body, the energy filling her body with immense elation and pain.
Anna screamed loudly while her hands were at her side, her body glowing with a bright purple energy that was exactly like the Queen and the recently defeated Virgin Born.
Suddenly every single whisper form the relics started to relentlessly pound in her skull, her Purifier Mask falling off in the process.
"Anna! Stop!" Louis said, moving forward with a hand outstretched. But Io raised a hand to stop him from moving any further.
"It's alright," Io said, keeping her eyes on Anna. "She can do this."
The whispering in her skull and the miasma filling her lungs was suffocating. One eye started to glow red with frenzy while the other was dark blue with the Queen's energy. Slowly, everything she had ever known to fade - similar to the time she was about to frenzy after waking up with Io standing above her. Only ten times worse.
But even as she started to lose herself, there were something things that refused to leave her.
"I'm Louis. I'm researching blood beads. Nice to meet you."
"Yakumo Shinonome. I'll be looking forward to seeing you in action."
"Oh, I'm Mia Karnstein - and I'm good in a fight, if you guys ever need the help."
"Thank you - You held the tattered pieces of my heart together."
"Sleep well, friend."
"I will always be with you."
Anna tightened her fists as the resolve in her rose. No. She wouldn't forget her friends. She wouldn't forget what why she had taken on the power of the relics in the first place. There were people who needed her help. She would not frenzy. She would not become the Queen.
"My name is Anna. My name is Anna. My. Name. Is. Anna!" she exclaimed, the volume of her voice raising after every exclamation as her fist pumped in the air.
The area around her filled with a thick purple mist that was coated the area around her like an aura. Then the miasma in her lungs started to clear up.
"This is the Queen's Miasma. But... different," Louis said.
"That's cause I'm not the Queen," Anna said as her one red eye reverted back to her regular sky blue. But her left eye still shone with the dark blue of the Queen's energy. "I'm still Anna."
"You've managed to take in the power of all the relics. The Queen's powers have settled in you," Jack said, impaling his sword in the ground.
"And I still haven't frenzied. Because of all of you," Anna said, looking at her hands.
"Us?" Mia questioned.
"It felt like I was going mad taking in all of that power. I was starting to lose my grip on everything I knew. But your memories helped to keep me grounded. Kept me off the edge. It was... overwhelming. All of those voices... the miasma... trying to control all that energy instead of it controlling me..." Anna trailed before Io put a hand on her shoulder to make her stop talking.
"So this is what Project QUEEN looks like with a compatible host," Jack said, looking at Anna with his head tilted to the side in curiosity.
Anna looked at her hands as the dark purple aura around her turned into a bright blue, similar to that of an activated mistle. Then she raised her hand and the cameras that monitored the Red Mist appeared.
Closing her eyes and focusing the intense energy that almost yearned to be used, Anna held her hands out in front of her and concentrated as hard as she could.
"Red Mist... Red Mist... Come on Anna. If the first Queen could make her own miasma frenzied out of her mind, you can do this," Anna thought to herself furiously as her hands started to glow a dark blue.
Everyone's eyes were on the screen and watched as Anna's efforts managed to raise the Red Mist that had quarantined and protected them for so long. And she was still standing with a clear look in her dark blue eyes. And after a few seconds, her right eye reverted back to its regular sky blue.
"That's... not as bad as I thought," Anna said, looking her hands. Holding the Red Mist up was more like something that was just lurking in the back of her mind rather than something that required actual effort.
"How have you not frenzied? Even the smallest bit of the Queen's blood turned revenants into Lost," Jack said.
"That is a very interesting question," A gruff voice said, which had everyone turning around.
Standing there, fully human, was Gregorio Silva. He was holding a big wound on his chest, but his heart was obviously still intact.
"I'd tell you if I knew," Anna said.
"I think it's a good idea to find out," Jack said.
Since most of the provisional government had been killed by Mido's goons, Silva had little choice but to do all of Anna's testing at Home Base. Though it was clear he was worried about her frenzying at any given time, considering he had stayed near her the whole time with both Blood Beads and an Argent Wolf Greatsword at the ready.
But Anna had been calm during the trip despite the fact that she wasn't wearing a Purifier Mask.
And nothing had during every poke and prod Silva made to check both her blood and the status of the Parasite residing within her. Io hadn't left her side during the whole thing, which made her smile. Everyone else had went to go check the status of the Successor Crypts since she was technically the new Queen now.
Finally all of Silva's testing had ended and the results had him pacing back and forth while muttering to himself. Besides Io, Jack was the only other one with her during the whole thing. And the way he was looking at Anna showed he was both concerned about her and concerned about her frenzying.
"You're still in here?" Yamuko said, entering the room with Louis in tow.
"Unfortunately. Though the company does help," Anna said, gesturing to Io and Jack.
"What'd you find at the Crypts?" Jack questioned, looking between Louis and Yamuko.
"You're not gonna believe this. Every single person who was a Successor returned to normal," Yamuko said, making Anna and Jack look at each other with surprise in their eyes.
"All of them?" Anna questioned. "There isn't one person not accounted for?"
"Nope. Everyone's alive. Emily, Aurora, Nicola, and Karen. When you took all of the relics back, I guess everyone reverted back to normal," Yamuko said as Jack frowned thoughtfully.
"That's good news and all, but I do have one concern," Jack said before looking to Louis. "Your sister was the source of all of the Blood Beads. If she's now normal..."
"...where does that leave the other revenants," Louis finished, his previous smile now replaced with a grimace.
"That won't be a problem," Silva said, which caused everyone to look at him.
"So you are still here," Io said with just the slightest bit of dryness in her tone. Even if her tone was still mostly soft, it still made everyone smile. Including Jack.
"Guess she did learn pick up more than just learning how to live from you," Yamuko said, giving Anna a friendly punch on the arm.
The girl in question only grinned. She knew she had her moments of being the most rhetorical, sarcastic asshole in the room. And it seemed Io picked up on some of those mannerisms.
"What did you find out?" Jack questioned, moving his gaze to Silva. "You've been looking at those results for the past ten minutes."
"It was mostly to let everything sink in. There's... quite a bit to unpack with this," Silva said.
"Then go slow if necessary," Anna said, crossing her arms.
"Alright. Let's start with the question I'm sure you want to know the most. Your chances of frenzying now that you have the Queen's power," Silva said, making Anna nod. "First, do you know the the more technical process behind frenzying?"
"All I know is that if we don't get blood, we frenzy. But I guess there's more behind it with the Parasites and stuff," Anna said.
"Frenzying is caused when the Parasites in us don't get enough blood. They go into what we call 'starvation mode,' and will spread through your whole body instead of residing just within your heart," Jack explained.
"Which is why the Lost keep reforming," Yamuko said. Everyone knew why revenants had to protect their hearts, but the knowledge behind the Lost constantly reforming was news to him.
"And here's your situation," Silva said, pointing at Anna. Then he showed her a photo, which was presumably the BOR Parasite in her body.
It was not located in her heart anymore.
"Your Parasite moves throughout your body now," Silva said to break the silence in the room.
"How?" Louis questioned.
"When we turned my daughter into the Queen, the process of doing so caused her extreme pain. It was probably the reason she even Frenzied in the first place. But instead of a specialized Parasite residing within you, the normal Parasite that you have adjusted to the Queen's power," Silva explained.
"So there's no pain she has to endure. That's good news," Yamuko said.
"What does that mean for the Parasite that's still in me?" Anna asked.
"This is where things have gotten really strange. The BOR Parasite is no longer feeding on you. In fact, I'm not even certain whether or not to call this a Parasite anymore," Silva said, receiving five bewildered looks in response. Well, Io's bewildered look was more of an adorable expression of curiosity.
"You weren't kidding when you said there was a lot to unpack," Jack said, which made Silva smile with little humor in the expression.
"Don't forget. This is only the beginning. Now, like I said, I wouldn't necessarily call the Parasite in her body a parasite anymore. It is no longer feeding on her, but rather, she is feeding it. More precisely, her energy is feeding it," Silva said.
"It's drawing off the Queen's energy as a food source instead of blood now?" Louis asked.
"Yes. This relationship is also different from the first Queen because the Parasite is being sustained by the energy rather than being the source of the energy itself. Since it has the energy to feed off an alternate source, it has no reason to feed off your body. So if you can frenzy, I have no clue what could possibly cause it," Silva explained.
"The Parasite is now more a symbiote now," Io said, causing Silva to look at her.
"That's an excellent way to sum it up, yes. The Parasite draws from your energy, and once it feeds, it redistributes it back into your body. So now you have a great affinity with Gifts along with an enormous ichor pool," the older man said.
"It was enormous before. You should've seen her casting in the fight with the Queen version of you. She must've cast at least two dozen Gifts, and hadn't shown a single sign of tiring," Jack told him before raising an eyebrow. "Any idea why that is?"
"I believe so," Silva said before looking to Anna. "Jack shot you in the heart after you dealt the finishing blow against the first Queen, and by all means, that should've killed you. Do you have a good guess as to why it didn't?"
Anna thought about it for a few moments. The only people who could reform after being shot in the heart were the Lost and the Queen herself. And she wasn't like them.
Only... she could activate bloodsprings and miasma with just her blood. She could absorb the memories of other revenants without frenzying. She could do it well enough to completely restore other revenants' memories. And why was that?
As far as she was concerned, there was only one way that could be possible.
"When I stabbed the Queen using my Veil..." Anna trailed, and Silva gave her a small smile as he urged her to continue. "It filtered her blood - making it safer to take in."
"There's definitely a brain behind that face of yours. You were on the verge of frenzy due to the miasma you breathed in prior to absorb her blood rather than because of the blood itself. And because you successfully absorbed the Queen's blood, you inherited a portion of her powers," Silva told her.
"Successor Of The Blood. That's what she is," Jack said, causing Anna to look at Io.
"Did you know?" Anna asked her.
"I hadn't known, but I knew there was some reason as to why we were brought together," Io said.
"Every Successor is given an Attendant to help them survive. It's just how things works," Silva said.
"The abilities you inherited from the Queen gave you her unique abilities to activate mistles and bloodsprings, have an absurdly large Ichor count, and an affinity with magic," Jack ticked off.
"The last one is just beyond perfect for someone who likes swinging a sword around most of the time," Anna quipped, and Jack couldn't refrain from rolling his eyes.
"I've seen you down Lost like crazy with a Bayonet and Spike attacks. It definitely wouldn't hurt to add some more magical Gifts along with that," Louis said.
"I could always take lessons from Io if I'm ever interested," Anna said with a shrug.
"You have the Queen's power now. Your capabilities completely outstrip mine," Io told her.
"Still doesn't change the fact that you can teach me a few things. The ranged Gifts, for the most part, aren't my thing. But if I can use it to a really high potential... well, then it wouldn't be very smart not to take advantage of it," Anna told her. "You've got my back, right?"
"For as long as I'm still alive," Io said with a nod, and Anna smiled.
"Now that the facts are out of the reason, let's move on to something I noticed when I woke up after you defeated my frenzied form," Silva said before looking to the others. "Did any of you notice a difference in the air as we returned here?"
"A difference how?" Yamuko questioned.
"The way you were breathing in the air. Did it feel any different to you?" Silva asked.
"It felt easier, in a way. Even with the purifier masks, breathing in and out is always a bit odd. The oxygen we take in seems a bit artificial after it's filtered," Louis said.
"As Anna and Jack may remember more than anyone, the Queen had her own special miasma that sped up the frenzying process faster than the usual miasma revenants nowadays can fall victim to. She also projected it as an aura around her whenever she fought," Silva said as Anna and Jack nodded. "You have an aura around you, but it isn't miasma. In fact, I have a very good feeling that this aura around you purifies miasma instead."
"Are you saying that I'm a walking mistle?" Anna questioned, her eyebrows raised in disbelief.
"Well, I haven't seen a mistle that looks this good," Yamuko teased while wiggling his eyebrows suggestively. Anna laughed and punched him on the arm.
"Whatever you want to call it, there's a chance you can naturally purify miasma. If you can find a way to spread that aura all over the place, it would eliminate any further need for revenants to have Purifier Masks," Silva explained.
"That would cut down on the constantly swelling ranks of the Lost by quite a bit. But there's still the issue of blood," Louis said.
"Ah, but you're forgetting one thing, Louis. Your sister created bloodsprings all over the place with just a relic of the Queen's energy powering her. Anna's got the full package now," Yamuko reminded him.
"Which means I have to find a way to purify all the miasma and create enough Bloodsprings to satisfy all revenants. God, this is going to be a serious pain in the ass," Anna said, rubbing her temples.
"The bloodspring problem may not be as much of one as you think," Silva told her. "If we can set up enough bloodsprings in the right areas, we can distribute all of them evenly to the revenants so that no one has to resort to stealing them or desperately searching all over the land for them. After all, now that you show no signs of frenzying while maintaining the Red Mist, the levy system is no longer needed."
"I didn't think about that," Louis said, his eyes wide.
"So revenants no longer have to fight among themselves to get Blood Beads?" Yamuko asked, a smile on his face.
"If all goes well. But Anna has to figure out how to create Bloodsprings first. That should be the first priority before focusing on purifying the miasma. After all, as long as Blood Beads are still in great supply, no revenant will turn into the Lost," Jack said, and Anna nodded her agreement.
"So what happens after that?" Anna asked.
"Well, once the miasma is cleared and we have enough Bloodsprings, revenants will pose much less of a threat aside from the ones who are little more than thugs because of their struggles. That moves on to the only other threat that exists - The Lost," Silva said.
"Well, killing them is out of the question. It just isn't possible considering they reform after a certain amount of time," Yamuko said.
"That's true. Our researchers will get to finding a way to eliminate the Parasites that resides within them. And that process will likely needing some Lost as test subjects so we can figure out exactly how to do that. If we can figure out how to eliminate the Parasites controlling them, then we can finish them forever," Silva said.
"Whatever you need Silva, I will be glad to help," Jack said.
"I can always count on you and Eva, Jack. And that help will certainly be needed in the upcoming days," Silva said with a small smile.
"This is going to be a lot of work, isn't it?" Anna questioned.
"Killing Lost is easy. Changing the world is going to take some time," Louis said before giving her an encouraging smile. "But hey. That's what you've got us for."
"That's right. We may not be esteemed royalty, but we're still willing to help out," Yamuko said with a cheeky grin that earned him a hard elbow in the stomach. Only Io was the one to hit him.
"Thank you for saving me the trouble," Anna said with a grin, and Io nodded with a smile on her face.
"Don't be fooled by how dainty she looks. She's got some strength in that arm," Yamuko told Louis, who put a hand over his mouth to stop his snickers.
"One more thing Silva," Jack suddenly said, looking to the man in question. "When Anna initially absorbed all of the relics, the power almost overwhelmed her and caused her to frenzy. But she claimed that we were the reason she was able to hold it off."
"I don't claim that it was the reason. It is the reason," Anna said, but Jack only barely spared her a glance.
"I thought you would've figured this one out on your own," Silva said, causing Jack to raise an eyebrow. "Other than compatibility with the Queen's energy, there's only one other thing that matters when it comes to controlling the Queen's power. And that's will."
"Everything started fading when I took in the relics. It was like frenzying, only a lot more intense," Anna said before opening and closing her fist. "But I couldn't forget you guys. And that helped me remember what I was fighting for. When I have you guys behind me, I have a reason to fight all the way to the bitter end."
"And that will was powerful enough to rein in the Queen's power. That's really something," Jack said, an impressed look in his eyes.
"Just shows what a group of determined friends can do when they've got each other's backs," Louis said with a wide smile.
"Now all we gotta do is change the world. Seems simple enough, right?" Yamuko said with a grin.
"Simple isn't the same as easy," Anna reminded him.
"But we'll be together every step of the way," Io said, grabbing ahold of Anna's hand. The redhead smiled before standing to her feet.
"Then let's get to work. Cause there's a lot of it to do," Anna said.
A/N: I just wanted to make something nice and simple for a change. If any of you have never played Code Vein, it's weird that you're reading this, but I recommend it. Solid 9/10 for me. Or at the very least, look up the cutscenes. The story's great, and isn't full on speculation like all of the Soulsborne games.
Also, I understand the main character was quite a bit more powerful in this story than in actual gameplay, but she's got access to the powers of a bunch of Blood Codes and part of the Queen's power before she even absorbs the relics. And that fact is what helped her survive being shot in the chest back Jack.
Bottom line, your main character is truly exceptional. Which makes me wonder why there wasn't a fourth ending that lets your character become the next Queen(Or King depending on gender), but you control the power rather than it controlling you. And you could always get it by restoring all of the memories of the Successors, all of Io's memories, and Mastering all of the Gifts in the Queenslayer Code and the Codes your friends give you. Which would be Louis, Yamuko, Mia, Jack, Eva, Murasame, and Io.
It'd be a lot of work, but it makes sense that it takes a powerful person to control an immense amount of power like that. Plus it'd be badass to see your character master the power of the Queen and use that power in order to save the world. Does our character leading the charge against the nightmares on the other side of the Mist with his/her eyes glowing with the Queen's power sound badass to anyone else? Or is it just me?
And that's why I love writing Fanfiction. Cause I get to make like ideas like this come alive. Hope you all enjoyed this.
