The Wall - Chapter 2
GUARDIAN
What are the Hive doing here? Did they follow us back to Earth? His head hurt from all the questions he asked himself. "Ghost, fastest way there?" His Ghost floated above the trees. "Got it." He'd have to think of a way to defeat them without his guns. Run in there and hope for the best? No there could be a swarm of Knights and Thrall ready to cut him down for all he knew. Go in and try to tether them all, take them all out at once? Could be a Witch or two ready in the back waiting to trap him in their toxic gas. It was frustrating. "I found a quick path through a river, take a left and about 200 meters, you should see the river. Should be a straight path to where the Hive are." A river? "Are you telling me to swim across?" The Ghost must've shrugged. "You wanted the quickest path." "Alright I'll do it." The woods seemed to be getting less dense as he ran through.
When he finally approached the river the first thing he thought was. "Well, shit." He said to himself looking for any stepping stones in the river he could have jumped on. He found one just big enough for him to land on, but he did not know if he could have made it, the jump looked farther than what he usually made. "Here goes nothing." He squatted down, his dark purple eyes contracting in concentration and jumped up with all his might. He did not even make it a fraction of the distance. But then he jumped again mid air, a puff of blue dust surrounded his feet. He got closer but still wasn't there. And he jumped again, just barely touching the surface on the rock. "That wasn't so bad." The torrents made him feel as if he was going to slip off the rock. "Okay maybe it is pretty bad." The wind made it even worse. It felt like he was going to freeze if he stood still for too long. He looked ahead for another rock and saw a pathway that he could follow. "You doing alright?" He looked above as he saw his Ghost peering at him from above. "Funny you ask." He jumped this time with confidence.
After he finally reached the other side panting and cursing his Ghost, he heard shouts, shouts of humans. He had to help them. "Ghost why didn't you tell me there were people!?" "Well I didn't know either until now!" The Ghost flailing about in the air, closely inspecting the woods for any sort of movement that could have been movement. He saw them! "Found them! Two men on horseback! They're being chased!" The Guardian ran towards them with his sword out, ready to fight Hive.
WILL
Will knew what they were. They were The Others. They were going to kill him. And Gared. He was scared. Their horses were getting tired, they could not outrun those…. Others. They were vile, wide jaws, sharp teeth and claws ready to tear the both of them apart. "WILL COME BACK TO YOUR SENSES WILL YOU?!" Gared had been shouting at him over and over again. They were going to die. It didn't matter, they got Royce and the both of them didn't even know how. "WILL WE CAN MAKE IT! WE ARE ALMOST AT CAMP!" The sound of his horse's panting and the galloping drowned everything out. Could he survive? He had a duty. He was a man of the Night's Watch, they can make it, he has to tell everyone. He looked back to see a swarm of those creatures swinging their claws at Gared and his horse. "GARED THEY'RE CATCHING UP!" A blood curdling shout was all Will heard. "HELP ME! WILL! HELP! HELP!" He saw Gared on the ground swarmed by those creatures ripping him apart. Blood tainted the snow and trees all around the Gared. He lost sight of Gared, there was no helping him.
He turned his head away from the horror and rode forward hoping his end would not be the same as Gared's. Will felt a lump in his throat knowing that he truly did not believe he would not die the same. The most he wanted was a quick death.
Will suddenly found a sharp pain shoot up his left leg and found himself screaming and falling off his horse. He was pulled by the creature's claws into a tree hurting his back and neck. The claws glowed blue above his head, like the ice magic of the Others. The creature looked at him without any eyes, its head twitching it what seemed to be its sense of accomplishment, and then it finally screeched bringing its claws down. Will shut his eyes tight hoping for it all to end….. But all he saw was the creature sliced in half, from its shoulder to its hip. Both halves fell into the snow, slowly starting to rot and smell. He looked up from its body to see what saved him. He saw a man in unusual garbs, it was too dark to see his face because of his hood, but he had his hand out, waiting for Will to take it. "Come on we don't have much time. The Hive are coming." The Hive? That wasn't important, he's still alive. "My horse..Where-" "Dead, now come on we don't have time." Will reached for the man's hand grunting as he felt a sharp pain across his back. "My back, I fell on it." The man seemed to stare at him, thinking of what he should do. He pulled Will up and put his arm over his shoulder. "You guys have a base somewhere set up I can take you to?" Will's back still hurt but he could at least move. "The Wall. A league south of here." The man tilted his head to the side when he said the Wall but he nodded and the two of them moved as fast and silent as they could with the creatures following them.
Will was curious about the man but in the situation they were both in he would save his questions for later. They should have been close enough to see the wall without the fog blocking their vision. "Ser, over there." Will pointed towards the wall and the man froze. "What is that?" Will was shocked, confused. Who wouldn't know what the Wall is? Almost everyone in Westeros no, the world, has at least heard of the Wall. "It's the Wall, we're headed to Castle Black."
The man was still staring at the wall, looking at how tall it was and how wide it stretched. "Castle Black?" Will was annoyed at how little the man knew but was respectful to the man for saving him. "Yes, where the Night's Watch lies. Our base"
The man still looked confused and asked a question. "Ghost, where are we?"
