Hello everyone… time to crawl out the shadows once again. DarkLordShadow here and I'm so excited to add this particular story to the long list of stories for everyone. I'm sure that everyone here has played, watched, or knows about the card game Yu-Gi-Oh!. So thanks to someone who gave me the idea of continuing the story of GX after the end of that series. I was always interested in trying out this story just never got around to putting it together. But, after talking with this person, as well as my friend 3rdDragneel, I've come through the fruition of tackling this particular subject. Following the end of GX Jayden Yugi left Duelist Academy due circumstances and ended his journey with the famous duel against the king of games himself: Yugi Muto. Now it's a new semester and new students are being sworn in. This is where a brand new student, Raygon Cranel, is ready to start his journey but what will his journey be at this school? What challenges await his new life here? Time to begin a new story: Yu-Gi-Oh! GX - The New Term. Chapter 1 - The New Year.
Duelist Academy where all little arguments, and problems, are solved by dueling. This is the alma mater of famous students like Zane Truesdale, Alexis Rhodes, Chazz Princeton, Bastion Misawa, Syrus Truesdale (Zane's younger brother), Chumley Huffington, and famously - Jayden Yugi. On board a ship traveling to the school is where many of the upcoming students are anxious to get off the boat and onto dryland. On the bow-tip of the boat one prospecting student; wearing a dark navy jacket and grey t-shirt, with dark brown hair that slicked his bangs to the side across his forehead, would look out into the distance to notice a land mass coming into view from the horizon.
"There it is… Duelist Academy," The prospecting student would say to himself, "Finally... I get to show what I am made of."
The student would look off at the island while sliding his hand on a hip-pouch as his deck is with him. He feels a hand on his shoulder and turns to see another prospecting student, wearing a grey jacket and black t-shirt with light black hair that is combed back, he seems to have some kinda connection with the other. They look at each other in such confusion, but then break that awkward as they smile at each other as they are revealed to be best friends since childhood.
"At first I thought you wouldn't recognize me," The other student would say to him, "How could you forget your best friend eh Raygon?"
"Well hey I just thought it would be a little funny," Raygon would say with a smirk, "But still… it's nice to see you Kev."
The two of them would lock in a handshake and give a bro hug (everyone should know it). As they look out together as the ship draws closer, and closer, to the island. The two of them smile as their new journey, and school life, is about to begin.

The boat has finally reached the port of Duelist Academy and everyone is making their way off and on the port. Many of the students are talking in non-sense, stereotypical, chatter that anyone would say after coming to school ('I hope we're in the same class', 'Do you plan on getting a boy/girl friend?', 'I'm gonna be the best in everything', etc.). Raygon and Kev exit the ship and notice the giant building at the top of the hill from where they are.
"Dude, Raygon do you see what I see?" Kev would point up to the tall building in the distance.
"I see it my friend," Raygon would answer back to him in a positive manner, "Though I must admit… thought it would be bigger."
The two of them would look at each other and just casually joke about the building not being 'up to their standards' though they can't help their excitement. As they sit around and chat Raygon would take his deck out to look over combos he wishes to try here at school.
"I see you still use that particular formula eh Raygon?" Kev would say to him in a sarcastic tone.
Raygon would look back and with a raised bro, "Well sorry my friend. But, I did do… something to this since the last time we dueled."
"Oh I don't know my friend," Kev would say with a cocky smirk and pats his deck sleeve on his hip, "We might just have to wait and see during the semester."
"Oh… so I take it you have something -" Raygon was going to finish but stops as his eyes are transfixed on something.
"What was that? You say something?" Kev would go up to him and trying to get his attention, "Are you even listening to me-"
Raygon makes a quick jab into his friend causing him gasp a little bit. Kev would give him a look like 'really' but Raygon motions him to look towards the ramp of the boat. Kev would then notice what made Raygon stop talking. Coming off the same ship as them were two female students that the two of them were shocked to see. One of them had short black hair in a bob cut, while wearing a light blue trench coat and corset(reminiscent of Akiza from 5D's) and wearing white gloves that go up to her forearm, and wearing black shorts with black boots. This revealed her to be Raygon's childhood friend he hasn't seen in over 5 years, Tsuya.
"I don't believe it," Raygon would mention to Kev, "It's her."
"Oh what is it your ex-" Kev once again tried to make a joke but got another jab from Raygon.
Raygon would make his way towards the girl as she was talking to the other girl she was with.
"Tsuya… is that really you?" Raygon would ask all nervously.
The other girl Raygon noticed her in a short red jacket (with the sleeves cut), she wears a yellow tank top with a black fingerless glove, while she wears light brown boots (that come up to her knees. While her hair was tied in a ponytail with a few of her bangs coming down her face. This was revealed to be Tsuya's friend after moving away from Raygon all those years ago, Akane.
Tsuya would turn and be shocked at who called her. At the sight of seeing Raygon she was startled and backed into Suyeon.
"R-Raygon?!" Tsuya would ask in such a nervous voice.
"Yeah… hey, how's it been?" Raygon would say to Tsuya all embarrassed and not sure how to carry a conversation.
"W-Well… Since you're here, I can only imagine that you've enrolled here as well?" Tsuya would say to him while twiddling her fingers.
"Yeah I have," Raygon would say to her with his hands behind his back.
"Alright Tsuya, are you gonna introduce me to your 'friend'?" The other girl would say to Tsuya behind her by tapping her shoulder.
Tsuya gets startled for a bit after talking to Raygon. She forgot about her friend that's standing behind the two of them. The girl behind, Akane, was standing there cross armed and cocked an eyebrow for that sassy tone she was giving off.
"Oh no, I'm terribly sorry Akane," Tsuya would say acknowledging the fact that she completely ignored her friend, "Um… Raygon, this is my friend Suyeon."
"Pleasure," Akane would say to him, now giving off more of a 'tomboy' attitude.
"Indeed it's nice to meet-" Raygon would extend his hand for formalities but dragged right up to Suyeon's face and causing a blush to streak his face.
"Uh… What's with the sudden aggression?" Raygon would say in such a nervous tone.
"Hmm… I thought you'd be better looking from Tsuya's descriptions," Akane would tell him after giving Raygon a one over.
Raygon would just give a confused look to both Akane and Tsuya. Kev would start walking up to them after getting an elbow to the gut… twice by Raygon.
"Whew, finally got some air back in my lungs," Kev would bluntly just say to break the tension between the three, "So… what's going on?"
Raygon would give him a look as if he knows 'now is not the time'. Kev glanced back and forth between the two of them and came to the realization.
"Trouble in paradise," Kev would say, making fist and gesturing down, clapping his open hand.
Raygon would have such a defeated look on his face as if 'kill me now'. He would go over to his friend and take him aside for a bit.
"Alright… let me spell it out for you my friend," Raygon would say in a mild threat, "Tsuya and I were CHILDHOOD friends and that's it."
"And is that why she was shocked and embarrassed when you walked over?" Kev would say in his cocky tone.
"You just wanted to make that joke didn't you?" Raygon would give him an annoyed look.
Kev would give him a smirk and shrug his shoulders. Raygon dropped his head in defeat and shook his head in annoyance. The two of them would turn and return to the girls awaiting them.
"Sorry about that," Kev would say with a grin while scratching the back of his head, "My name's Kev… I've known this guy for so long that I can't remember what particular year it was."
"It's okay… I was shocked," Tsuya would say letting out a sigh, "I thought it would be pretty awkward for the two of us, it's just been so long."
"Yeah can't have it be too formal with your ex-boyfriend eh?" Akane would say teasing Tsuya.
"Oh SHUT UP AKANE… IT WASN'T LIKE BETWEEN US!" Tsuya rushed to try and make Akane stop being embarrassed from that comment.
"That's what I told him but all he did-" Kev nearly finished but, once again, got another elbow to the gut courtesy of Raygon.
"W-Well, shall we head to the academy? I think the entrance ceremony is about to start?" Raygon would suggest while having a drop of sweat run down from this embarrassing situation.
"That sounds nice… lets," Tsuya would nervously agree and grabbed her luggage.
Raygon, Kev (after recovering from Raygon's gut jab), and Akane would follow, grabbing their own luggage. They would follow the group of students up the stairs to a pathway. They look around and think to themselves in seeing that there's such a campus like this with its surroundings consisting of such a lush forest. After what seemed to be like hours they finally reached the entrance to the Duelist Academy building.
"Whew finally… you'd think they invest in an elevator," Raygon would mention in such a sarcastic tone.
"Well you know… they probably have such a budget cut for the teachers from what I heard," Kev added to the joke of poking a little fun at the school from what they heard.
"Oh REALLY?!" A snarky, raspy, voice startled them as they looked to their right and they noticed someone they've heard a reputation about.
"Oh boy… this will be an eventful first day," Kev would say with a nervous smirk.
The gentleman with blonde hair, wearing a long blue trench coat decorated with some medals and a pink short scarf added a little pizzazz. This was Chancellor Crowler, faculty member and known to have 'a bit of an attitude' towards some of the students not on his radar.
"You lot have something to say on your first day here as transfers," Crowler would snicker at the four of them.
"We weren't trying to cause a scene Mr. Crowler," Tsuya would say to the man trying to deflate the issue.
"Now see here missy... I want to know who it was that made that comment or I'll just have you all move into the slifer dorms without your entrance results," Crowler argued, pointing at the four of them.
Kev would look with a depressed look and begin to raise his hand. But before he could take the fall he was stopped by Raygon shaking his head not to answer.
"Well if no one wants to answer," Crwoler would say with smirk, "Then I'll just-"
"It was me," Raygon would say, putting his hand on his chest acknowledging it to be him.
The three in the group would look in shock and are hesitant to try and stop him. But they noticed that his hand was out of sight, motioning to stop them to not interfere. Crowler would walk over to Raygon, looking and stopping in front of him.
"Well then mister…" Crowler would gesture to get his name.
"It's Raygon Cranel," Raygon would say to Crowler, not showing any inch of being intimidated.
"Show up in the arena in one hour and we'll see if your deck is as strong as your words… Mr. Cranel," Crowler scough, acting like dragging Raygon's name through the mud as he makes an exit.
"Why did you do that man?!" Kev would ask Raygon in such a panic, "You didn't have to do that and now you have the risk of going into a dorm that you don't belong."
"It's fine man," Raygon would say to his friend, "Just know that I'll expect something in return afterwards though."
Raygon would wave goodbye as the three leave as he sets his luggage down to open a briefcase to take out his personal duel disk (reminiscent of the orichalcos though lacking the sharp point of the aggressive look). Though he's unaware, someone is watching him from the shadows.
"Yeah… i understand, just let me take care of it Crowler," The figure would say after hanging up his/her phone, "He seems to know what he's doing. Let's just see how well he handles himself."
The figure would leave and enter the arena from a different door to go inside.
(1 hr later - in the arena)
"Ladies and gentlemen… allow me to welcome all the new incoming students to the fabulous Duelist Academy," Crowler would say into a microphone from the stands, "Now let me introduce you to today's welcome ceremony duelists."
Crowler would gesture to his right and a door would open up. To a reveal it would be Raygon as he walks to the arena in the middle. As he looks around he notices Kev, Tsuya and Akane sitting in the stands together in the middle and waving at him. He would wave back but notice that usually when they have an entrance duel they would have someone from the faculty dueling a student.
"Here we have Raygon Cranel," Crowler would say, trying not to snicker after saying his name, "He'll be our incoming student wishing to test his skills hoping to land in the dorm of his choice."
Raygon would climb the stairs of the duel arena and look around seeing so many new prospecting students ready to see a show. To no one's attention a little smile creeped up on Raygon's face thinking to himself that 'I can't believe I'm here'. A noise gets his attention that catches his attention noticing the door on the opposite side of him opening for his opponent.
"As a 'special' little treat for him," Crowler would say with an arrogant, confident smile, "We've asked one of our OWN alumnists to 'welcome' this new student to the academy."
Raygon would see in shock at who Crowler was advertising. Walking towards the arena was an 18 yr old girl, in blue skirt combined with a belt colored in a light blue hue, white socks, blue boots, a sleeveless jacket made of white colored fabric with some blue marks around the collar and on the front side in chest level. Her attire also features an optional pair of fingerless gloves which reach from wrists up to her elbows. Her long, dark blond hair is sporadically arranged, revealed to be a famous alumni from the school.
"Please help me welcome home," Crowler would say, extending a hand towards the arena, " Ms. Alexis Rhodes!"
"You've gotta be kidding me right now?!" Raygon would say under his breath trying to not drag attention to him.
"He's in for it now isn't he?" Kev would say to the girls.
Both of them would nod in a shamed expression. All three of them would look towards the arena as Alexis made it up the stairs. She walked to the middle of the arena waiting for Raygon to do the same. Mustering up the courage, he walked over to the middle.
"So… you're a new student aren't you?" Alexis would ask him with a hand on her hip.
"Uh-Yeah I am," Raygon would say, wiping a sweat drop from his cheek.
"Well… I hope you're good enough to live up to the name of Duelist Academy," Alexis would extend a hand to him.
Raygon hesitated and looked from Alexis to her hand back and forth. After taking a breath he reached out and shook her hand. Then she pulled him towards her, the two of them nearly equal height, with Raygon a few inches taller, she would just stare at him.
"Just be yourself would ya?" Alexis would say with a wink and moved back to her area.
Raygon would be left dumbfounded and not sure what that was about. But he shaked the thought out of his mind and went back to his own area of the dueling ring. The two of them look at eachother with determination and grit on their face. The two of them would activate their duel disk and grab their decks from their hip pouch.
"Are you ready for this Raygon?" Alexis would say with a confident smile.
"Yeah, I've been itching for a duel ever since we landed," Raygon would say clenching his fist to signify that he's ready for the match.
"Now then students," Crowler would say loudly, "Let the duel between the new student and our esteemed alum… BEGIN!"

"Ladies first I'd say," Alexis would say, reaching for her card, "I draw!"
Alexis flicks her hand raising her card up to her. She gives off a smile and looks down the arena to Raygon.
"This will get things started in a fun way," Alexis would say to Raygon, "I summon Etoile Cyber in attack mode."
A maiden, in a red gym suit with pink swirls around each arm, spinning upwards and landing in front of Alexis readying herself to begin a fight.

"Next I'll set two cards face down and end my turn," Alexis would say while two cards materialize in front of her behind her monster, "Your move newbie."
Raygon would show a drop of sweat running down his face. He never thought he'd be facing off against one of the classic duelists from this school.
"Alright then," Raygon would say, grabbing the top card, " I DRAW!"
Raygon would look over his hand and look back at Alexis' field. Though she has a not too strong of a monster the two face downs could be a problem.
"Well standing around won't get us anywhere," Raygon would pull a card from his hand, "I summon Archfiend Cavalry!"
A horseman with red eyes and a skull face riding an armored horse showed riding from behind Raygon to the field.
Archfiend Cavalry an effect monster with ATK1900/DEF0
"I'm not done yet," Raygon would say, grabbing two cards, "I play the spell card Foolish Burial, with this card I'm able to send one card from deck to the graveyard."
Raygon would grab the card he's hoping for and send it to the graveyard slot in his duel disk. Next he grabbed more cards from his hand.
"You're not the only with defenses Alexis… I set two cards face down as well," Raygon would say as two cards materialized in front of him, "But let's see what we can do huh, Archfiend Cavalry attack Etoile Cyber with Skull Lance Strike!"
Raygon would gesture and Cavalry would charge Etoile lunging with its lance that appeared to be spiraling. Alexis looked in frustration but pressed a button on her duel disk.
"Not so fast newbie," Alexis would retort to him, "I activate the trap card… Dhokla passe!"
A Card with a dancer in the spotlight appeared having been flipped up to reveal itself. Raygon is shocked to see Cavalry go around Etoile and charged at Alexis instead.
"Wait… Why would you do that?" Raygon would say in such a confused tone.
"With this card I absorb the damage," Alexis would say after Cavalry returned to Raygon's side of the field, "But that allows my monster to not only not be destroyed but attack you directly."
"What?!" Raygon would say with a surprised tone.
"I don't know what he expected… that strategy seemed pretty easy to see," Akane would say in a disappointed tone.
"C'mon Raygon hang in there," Tsuya would say, clasping her hands.

"Alright now Etoile attack Raygon directly," Alexis would motion her hand and Etoile would begin her attack, "Also after activating this trap card… Etoile's attack points go up by 600."
"Great this is gonna hurt," Raygon would bracing himself for the attack.
Etoile jumps over Cavalry in front of Raygon and begins to spin. She would then land a blow on Raygon in the gut causing him to go down to a knee.
"Ow… damn that actually hurt," Raygon would say, gritting through the pain.
(Raygon 6200/ Alexis 6100)
"Wow… I figured this wouldn't be a walk in the park but this isn't what I had in mind," Raygon would say with a nervous look.
"Oh don't worry newbie," Alexis would say to him, "This is just getting started… I draw!"
Alexis would draw another card from her deck and flick it to her hand. She'd give off a smile as she knows what to do next.
"I summon my normal monster Blade Skater in attack mode," Alexis would place the card on her duel disk.
A pink female monster with purple spandex covering the body and two blades on her hands and feet would spin up from the ground to stand next to Etoile.
Blade Skater a normal monster with ATK1400/DEF1500
"Next I play the spell card Polymerization!" Alexis would hold up the spell card and placed it on her duel disk, "So I take my Blade skater and Etoile Cyber and fuse them together to create CYBER BLADER!"
The two monsters then skated towards one another and performed a gymnastic flip and began to swirl together. After a brief flash of light the monsters fused into a different monster. The new monster still had the red gym suit from Etoile but having the blades and skin color of Blade Skater with long flowing Blader would strike a pose after being summoned in front of Alexis in her monster zone.
Cyber Blader a fusion/effect monster with ATK2100/DEF800
"Now it's starting to get fun," Alexis would say while hitting a button on her duel disk again, "I activate one of my face down cards as the equip spell: Fusion Weapon."
Raygon notices that Cyber Blader's arm began to morph into a weapon fused with her. The equip spell managed to change Alexis' monster to gain attack points more than enough to wipe out his Archfiend Cavalry.
Cyber Blader attack now raised to 3600
"Oh boy… this is getting intense," Raygon would say with a worried look.
"Do you understand now boy," Crowler would think to himself giving off a sneering grin, "You don't just disrespect you're professors and expect to not face something you can't handle."
Raygon braces himself as Alexis is about to send her monster to attack his, "Now Cyber Blader… annihilate his bone horseman!"
Cyber Blader readied her arm cannon, green sparks surrounding her and concentrating to a green ball of energy, and aimed down sights toward Raygon's Monster. But to her surprise that he's not worried at all… but smiling.
"Why do you think Raygon's smiling like that knowing that his monster is going to be destroyed," Akane would ask confusingly.
"Just you wait… this guy always plays so close to the chest," Kev would say shaking his head but still smiling.
Alexis gritted her teeth, while showing some frustration, that Raygon still had that doped smile on his face not saying a word. Alexis made her free hand into a fist and then yelled out to attack Archfiend Cavalry.
"Guess what Alexis?" Raygon would say with a confident smile making Alexis look confused, "You're not the only one with tricks."
Raygon would press a button on his duel disk to reveal one of his face down cards to be one of his traps, "I activate my trap card: Call of the Archfiend!"
Archfiend Cavalry would let out a roar shockwave that Alexis seemed to be discomforted from the frequency. She later noticed that something was rising from behind Raygon. A massive monster sitting on a bone throne, wearing purple demonic/skeletal armor, and weidling a red skeletal sword.
"This card allows me to summon a level 5 or higher fiend monster in my graveyard after discarding one other fiend monster in my hand," Raygon would explain, "Now, I'm allowed to summon an Archfiend monster from my graveyard and that would be my boy: Archfiend Emperor, Lord of Horror!"
Archfiend Emperor an effect monster with ATK3000/Def2000
"Wow, I must admit…. This is getting interesting," Alexis would say with a smile acknowledging him, "But that doesn't save your Cavalry… Blader, continue your attack!"
Cyber Blader would charge up her attack and launch her energy blas towards Archfiend Cavalry but Raygon was prepared for this as well and activated another button revealing his other facedown card, "Sorry there Alexis but I'm not losing my monster this turn… I activate my second trap: Negate Attack!"
A spiral of red, and purple, energy formed absorbing the energy blast from Alexis' monster. Alexis would scough at this and simply would let it be. Now that Raygon has two monsters he seemed to hold on in staying in this duel.
"You seem to know your way around a duel," Alexis would say complimenting him.
The two of them stare each other down while they are still smiling, almost like they're having fun.
"Yeah… I'm glad I came to this school," Raygon would think to himself, "Alright then my move… I draw!"

Akane and Kev are still dancing but Akane noticed that Kev is nearing collapse from exhaustion

Tsuya looks out with the others as Raygon and Alexis start to hold hands as they leave class

Akane, Tsuya and Kev await Raygon to show up to class as they shuffle around their decks

Raygon and Kev give each other a bro hug as he sets off to a tournament in where he'll face off against the main antagonist

Raygon and Alexis finish their dance pair and hold each other before giving each other a kiss, where the three others in the background clap for the couple
And with that concludes the first chapter of the New Term at Duelist Academy. What do you think will happen to Raygon after this duel? What dorm would we find our heroes landing in after the duel? Only time will tell and we might see a new star at the academy rising through the ranks to achieve something they want.
