Justice League of Amazons: Dragonborn

Chapter 2.

Felicity and Dragonborn walked down the pavement of the streets of Metropolis towards Star Labs. All the while women everywhere were taking photographs and videos of Dragonborn. Felicity couldn't help but feel cautious about this as she knew that this would spread all over social media and governments would find out about Dragonborn's existence and no doubt some unsavoury elements of the government would want to take Dragonborn into custody. Some would say it would be for his own protection, but somehow it would be putting someone in a cage for the rest of his life. And there was no telling how Dragonborn would react to being put in what could be described as a prison. Felicity had a feeling that Dragonborn may not like the idea of being put in a glass cage and would vent his anger by drawing that sword of his and start lopping off heads.

As they neared Star Labs, a news crew van rolled and a female reporter along with a news crew came practically sprinting out towards Dragonborn. Dragonborn shifted a hand towards his sword as the news crew began taking images of him. He winced as the bright camera flash flashed.

"Excuse me! Cat Grant of Metropolis News Network! Might we ask you a few questions?" the journalist practically demanded, shoving her microphone into Dragonborn's face obnoxiously.

Dragonborn stared at the microphone that was shoved under his nose. Shaking his head he pushed the object away and kept walking. But the news crew persisted in following him yelling out questions to him. Felicity was about to tell the news crew to back off when Dragonborn suddenly turned around and grabbed the camera and crushed the lens in his grip. The news crew reeled back in shock as the armoured man loomed over them like an angel of judgement.

"Anyone tell you that you need to learn manners?" Dragonborn said to them softly but the weight in his voice had Cat Grant and her crew trembling in fear. Turning back around, Dragonborn continued on his way. Felicity gaped for a moment before giving the news crew a shaky smile before hurrying after Dragonborn.

Entering Star Labs, Dragonborn and Felicity were greeted by the receptionist who was surprised to see someone like Dragonborn in the building.

"Uh… Felicity? Who is this?" the receptionist asked looking very nervous at the sight of a black plate armoured man whose face was obscured by his helmet.

"Hey, Alice, this is Dragonborn," Felicity replied to the receptionist. "He's not from around here if you can't already tell," she said awkwardly.

"I see," Alice said. "What brings you here?" she asked Dragonborn as she swallowed a lump in her throat.

"Ask her," Dragonborn said looking at Felicity. The receptionist looked at Felicity who said, "He may be someone who is immune to the Virus created by Aresia, so I brought him here to see if we can get some blood and tissue samples for testing," she explained.

"Oh, of course! Won't you please come with me?" Alice asked Dragonborn who then followed the receptionist into the main laboratory where the remaining science staff of Star Labs were currently doing some test work on whatever it was they were working on.

One of the scientists, a young brunette with curly brown hair spoke to them. "Who do we have here?" she asked as she looked at Dragonborn.

"This is Dragonborn," Felicity said to her. "Dragonborn, this is Dr Caitlin Snow, she's one of the scientists here at Star Labs," she explained to Dragonborn.

Dragonborn looked at Caitlin Snow who swallowed nervously, looking very intimidated by the man. Dragonborn then raised his hand out to shake. "A pleasure to meet you," the armoured man said to Caitlin. To her credit, Caitlin shook hands with Dragonborn and almost winced as she felt the strong grip he had.

"A… firm grip you have there," Caitlin said as Dragonborn released her hand and she flexed it a little.

"Felicity told me that you would need blood from me, is that correct?" Dragonborn said to her.

"Well, yes, I suppose we would, but would you mind if I asked you to remove your helmet?" Caitlin asked.

Dragonborn grunted before loosening the chin strap of his helmet and lifted the dark helmet off with one hand revealing his pale skinned face. Everyone stared at the man's pale yet handsome features; from his silver-blonde hair, anvil like jaw and dark purple-blue eyes and the scars on his face that didn't detract from his looks, but only served to enhance them.

"Satisfied?" Dragonborn said and Caitlin nodded silently. "So you need my blood, yes?" he asked as he loosened his gauntlets, revealing strong calloused hands and pulled a knife from his belt and prepared to cut into his palm.

"What?! Whoa, whoa! Hey! What are you doing?!" Felicity screamed at Dragonborn who looked at her and said, "Giving some of my blood," as though it were obvious.

"And you're gonna do that by cutting open your hand?!" Felicity yelled.

"How else would you get my blood?" replied Dragonborn and without another word, he cut a deep gash into his left palm. Bright red blood nearly gushed out of the wound in his palm and a few of the scientists had queasy looks on their face and one ran off to find something to upheave the contents of her stomach into. Felicity turned her head away so as to avoid looking at the life fluids that were flowing steadily out of Dragonborn. After a moment of looking sick, Caitlin grabbed a few vials and gathered some of Dragonborn's blood. Once the vials were filled and sealed, Caitlin thanked Dragonborn for it, though she looked very green in the face. Dragonborn nodded before pulling out from his satchel small bottle of red liquid, popped the cork stopper and downed the contents in one go. To the fascination of Felicity and everyone else in the room, the gash in Dragonborn's hand sealed itself up and became a pinkish red scar before it slowly faded into little more than a blemish. Dragonborn clenched the once wounded hand a few times before he was satisfied with the result and slipped his gauntlets back on, tightening the straps on them.

"Thank you for this, Mr Dragonborn," Caitlin said to him. "I'll take these and run some tests on them." Dragonborn nodded at her as he picked up his helmet and held it by his side under one arm.

"Are you hungry?" Felicity then asked him. Dragonborn nodded in reply and Felicity then took him to the cafeteria. Felicity had decided to take a simple ham and cheese sandwich with a fruit juice while Dragonborn looked at the selection.

"Nothing you like?" Felicity asked him in concern.

"Can't say I've seen foods like this before," the man said, his purple-blue eyes scanning the varieties of food on display. Taking something called a Spaghetti Bolognese and a bottle of water, Dragonborn sat down with Felicity at a nearby table. The chairs creaked a little under the weight of Dragonborn's armour and mass. Dragonborn then dug a fork into his food and raised a forkful of pasta and eyed it carefully. Taking the forkful into his mouth and chewing, Dragonborn had a thoughtful look on his face as he tasted the food. Swallowing, the Dragonborn then took another forkful of spaghetti and ate it. Demolishing it within a few bites and cracking open the bottle of water, Dragonborn skolled the water down until the bottle was empty and set it on the table. Felicity had barely taken the first couple bites of her sandwich as she stared at Dragonborn, as did everyone else around them.

"What?" Dragonborn asked them.

"I've never seen anyone eat and drink that fast before," Felicity blurted out. "Did you even taste it?" she asked.

"Yes."

"And?"

"It was fine." Felicity stared at Dragonborn and shook her head slightly in disbelief and continued to eat her sandwich and drank her fruit juice until they were finished. At a much slower pace than Dragonborn's. Felicity then looked at Dragonborn and spoke to him.

"So, I've been meaning to ask: do you have any other name besides Dragonborn? A birth name perhaps?" she asked.

Dragonborn shook his head. "I don't know if I do have a birth name. I'm an orphan," he said.

"But you must have a name, everyone has one," Felicity argued.

"I do. Dragonborn."

"And how did you get a name like that?"

"I killed a dragon and devoured its soul," Dragonborn said casually.

"You killed a dragon?" Felicity asked.

"Yes," said Dragonborn.

"And everyone started calling you Dragonborn because of that?"

"Yes, but there were more reasons than that."

"Like?" Felicity prompted him.

"Defeating Alduin the World Eater and being able to use the Thu'um," Dragonborn said casually.

"Alduin the World Eater? Who was he, she, it?" Felicity asked.

"A dragon, a very powerful one, the firstborn of Akatosh," Dragonborn said.

"And Akatosh is a dragon-god I'm guessing?" Felicity asked.

"He could be seen as that, but he's one of the Aedra, the Nine Divines of Nirn," Dragonborn replied.

"And the Nine Divines are gods of your world?" Dragonborn nodded in response.

"So what is this Thu'um you mentioned?" Felicity asked.

"The Thu'um, or otherwise called the Voice in the mortal tongues is the language of Dragons. Words of Power," said Dragonborn. "It is the main language dragons use to communicate with one another, although they only speak it for true needs," he added.

"Why is that?" Felicity asked now curious to understand why.

"Because if not restrained properly, the Thu'um can devastate the land and cause great harm and destruction," Dragonborn explained.

"It's that powerful?" Felicity said looking almost frightened at the prospect of it.

"If not restrained properly, and I am far from a true master of the Thu'um," Dragonborn replied.

"So, because of your ability to use this Thu'um, you are called Dragonborn?" Felicity asked and Dragonborn nodded in reply. "What is your world like?" Felicity then asked.

"Vastly different from this realm it would appear," Dragonborn replied. "For one thing, I do not think anywhere in Tamriel we have those strange horseless carriages," he said bluntly.

"Cars. We call them cars," Felicity told him.

"I see," said Dragonborn. "And from what I've seen so far, there appear to be only the human races. None of the Mer or Beast races," he added.

"Mer? Beast races? What are they?" Felicity enquired.

"The Mer are the Elven races: Altmer, Dunmer, Orsimer, Bosmer, Maomer and Dwemer. The beast races are the Khajit and Argonians," said Dragonborn.

"I don't know what any of that means," Felicity said awkwardly.

"Sorry. Altmer are the High Elves. Dunmer are the Dark Elves. Orsimer are the Orcs. Bosmer are the Wood Elves. Maomer are Sea Elves and the Dwemer are the Dwarves," Dragonborn said. "And the Khajit are the Cat-people and the Argonians are the Lizard-people," he added.

"So, where you're from is like Lord of the Rings, or Dungeons & Dragons?" Felicity asked attempting to make a light-hearted joke.

"Lord of the Rings? Dungeons & Dragons? What are they?" Dragonborn asked.

"I'll tell you later," Felicity said. "So, apart from the things we spoke, what else can you tell em about your world?" she asked.

"Well, there are the lands of Nirn. The main continent of Tamriel and the surrounding neighbouring isles and other continents," said Dragonborn.

"Such as?"

"The Summerset Isles, home of the Altmer, the High elves."

"What part of Tamriel do you come from? Or call home?" Felicity asked.

"I grew up in Cyrodil until I decided to travel north to Skyrim and Skyrim has been my home for a good while," replied Dragonborn.

"So what race of human are you? You implied there being races of humans," Felicity pointed out.

"There are four human races in total: the Redguards, the Imperials, the Bretons and the Nords," said Dragonborn. "As for what race of human I am, I couldn't tell you. I seem to possess different traits from most human races, as well as the other races," he added.

"Traits? What does that mean?" Felicity asked.

"Each of the races of Tamriel have traits: there are the obvious traits such as skin colour, hair and eyes colour. But each race has traits unique to them," replied Dragonborn.

"What kind of traits?"

"Nords for example are fair skinned and fair haired and have a naturally high immunity to the cold, even magical spells of ice and frost," said Dragonborn. "Redguards have dark skin and dark hair and eyes and are highly skilled warriors and are at home in the deserts of Hammerfell," he added.

"And Imperials and Bretons?" Felicity asked.

"Imperials have fair to medium skin tone and varying shades of hair and eye colour, and Bretons often have almost olive skin and dark hair. Imperials are skilled merchants and have natural charisma and Bretons have an innate gift for magic and understanding of it," Dragonborn said.

"So what are you?" Felicity asked.

"I honestly don't know," Dragonborn said casually. "I have the fair hair and skin of a Nord, but I do not possess the resistance to ice and cold. Rather, I have the reverse of it," he added.

"You're resistant to fire and heat?" Felicity asked.

"I could hold my hand against an open flame and only feel gentle warmth from it," said Dragonborn. "Even magical flames do little against me," he added.

"Weird, maybe when the test results of your blood come back, we can determine what race you are," Felicity said.

"It doesn't matter to me too much, but it'll answer some of my questions at the very least," Dragonborn said shrugging his shoulders minutely.

Then entering the room was a short dark skinned woman wearing a handsome tan dress-suit and flanked by two women wearing dark sunglasses and equally dark pant-suits. Felicity looked at the trio and frowned as she recognised the dark skinned woman.

"Amanda Waller? What's she doing here?" she said.

Amanda Waller then saw Dragonborn and strode over to him in calm measured steps that spoke with the authority of someone who possessed a lot of power and had the brains to use it.

"When I saw on the social media circuits of a male human that is apparently alive and immune to the disease entering Star Labs, I had to see for myself if the rumours were true," she said in a cold authoritative voice. "And lo and behold, I see the rumours were true," she added with something approaching a smirk on her lips.

"May I help you?" Dragonborn asked her.

"My name is Amanda Waller. I represent Cadmus; a government sanctioned group authorised by the President when he was still with us," replied Amanda. "And what is your name?" she asked Dragonborn.

"Dragonborn."

"Is that your actual name?" Amanda asked.

"As far as I know, yes, I was an orphan growing up," replied Dragonborn.

"I see," Amanda muttered to herself. "In any case, I am here to offer you sanctuary within Cadmus," she then said.

"Sanctuary? Why would I want that?" asked Dragonborn.

"If it has failed to get your attention, the whole world is in the grip of chaos right due to the virus unleashed by the Amazon Aresia. If and when word of a single male person still being alive gets out and it most assuredly will, various agents will be sent after that person. Among those agents would be Aresia and her cohorts who will no doubt try to finish what they started," Amanda said.

"Let her try," Dragonborn said simply. "If this Aresia and her allies come after me, then they shall get 42 inches of cold hard steel to their bellies," he added.

"How reassuring," Amanda said with something approaching a sneer on her lips. "But I very much doubt you can handle yourself against the likes of a rogue Amazon," she added.

"Then you don't know me very well," Dragonborn countered. "I've faced far worse things than some misandrist women hell-bent on gender genocide," he said casually.

"Have you now?" Amanda asked dryly.

"yes. Everything from dragon-gods, dark deities, vampire lords, werewolves, undead and whatever else crawls of their hole when I come near," Dragonborn said.

"Maybe so, but I still have my doubts," Amanda said dismissively. "But why not take the safe route and take my offer? I could offer whatever it is that you need," she offered.

"All in exchange for my freedom?" Dragonborn asked pointedly as he stood from his seat and towered over Amanda and her bodyguards who reached into their coats for concealed weapons. Amanda raised a hand to stop them. "I may not be well versed in the ways of this realm, but that doesn't mean I am a fool," Dragonborn then said calmly. "Nor should I be taken as one," he added firmly.

"I would certainly not insult your intelligence, Mr Dragonborn," Amanda said calmly. "But my actions are for the greater good of this world," she added.

"As are mine," Dragonborn retorted. "So I thank you for the offer of protection, but I must respectfully refuse your offer," he said politely.

"Is there nothing I can say to persuade you otherwise?" Amanda asked calmly.

"Not at this stage, no," said Dragonborn.

Amanda's lips curled into something resembling a smirk as she turned around and began walking away but not before saying. "Perhaps later you will reconsider my offer," she said over her shoulder as she left the room.

Dragonborn watched Amanda and her two guards leave before sitting back down. He felt Felicity's eyes staring at him. Looking at her, he asked, "What?"

"I can't believe you had the balls to talk to Amanda Waller of all people like that," Felicity said in awe. "Most people shit themselves when talking to someone like Waller!" she stated.

"When you've faced the things I have in life, a person like Amanda Waller doesn't really count as much of a threat," Dragonborn said bluntly.

"Yeah, but that was Amanda freaking Waller! She's got connections all over the world and could have someone disappear without a race with a snap of her fingers!" Felicity said.

"Maybe so, but she came here to offer me sanctuary because she needs me," said Dragonborn calmly. "She needs me alive more than she does dead. I'm of no use to her dead," he added.

"I guess you have a point there," Felicity muttered. "If you can handle someone like Waller, nothing really fazes you, does it?" she said.

"I just do what I have to in life," said Dragonborn as he scratched behind his left ear as if bored. "I've faced far worse things in life," he added.

"I'll bet you have given what you've told me," Felicity muttered.

Then Caitlin Snow walked into the room. "Felicity? I just heard the news that Amanda Waller was here, where is she now? Is she still here?" she asked looking around nervously.

"She was here," Felicity said. "She came to offer Dragonborn a place in Cadmus, but Dragonborn said no, and she couldn't convince him to take the offer so she left. And good riddance I say!" she declared.

"Right… well, we've done some preliminary testing on Dragonborn's blood and we've found some interesting results," Caitlin said. "Would you both like to see?" she asked Felicity and Dragonborn.

"If I must," Dragonborn said stoically as he stood from his chair and Felicity stood up as well.

They then entered the pathology lab where the vials of Dragonborn's blood were being scanned and tested.

What they would learn about Dragonborn's blood and Dragonborn himself would surprise nearly everyone in the room.

TO BE CONTINUED…

A/N: There! The second chapter of this done and dusted! I apologise for the wait, but I had other things on my mind and other projects. Some projects are relatively new, but some others are things I've been working on for a while. Future plans may involves updating a couple of old stories, or possibly rewriting them which I know will upset some of you, but I'm trying to present my work in the best way I can do so and I'm never satisfied with what things I have and I keep trying to make them better and I do have you guys in mind when I do such things.

Anyways, a new project I'm working on is a Game of Thrones/A Song of Ice and Fire crossover with Red Sonja and the story will be much in the same vein as the Red Sonja/Spider-Man crossover Vampi, Spidey and Sonja. The MC I'll be using is Aegon and much like Vampi, Spidey and Sonja, the story will crossover into DC and Marvel, plus a couple of other things such as Witcher, why? Because I can, that's why!

And as per usual, I've set up a romance poll for the idea and so far, Huntress, Tyene Sand and Black Cat have taken the lead sharing first place. If any of you want to see a different girl take the first spot, you know what to do.

And that's about the sum total of things, so I'll just leave this here and I'll see you all in the next one.

Be kind to one another,

Angry lil' elf.
