Guys guess what!? Someone else is doing an Index Reaction Fic!

Check him out. Its 'A certain classmate revealed' by AROWHEAD-overlord.

I just want to make it clear that my story isn't going to be hindered or affected by what he posts, nor should his. From what I've already seen, their are enough differences for them both to be enjoyable. On a related note, welcome to the club, Arrowhead.

Next order of business. This chapter is going to be a piece of my own writing, much like the first chapter. It is VERY important that you flame me on this if its trash. Yeah! You heard me, I wanna get flammed if you think its trash. If so, I'll stop doing them.

So... while I try not to regret what I just wrote, please enjoy, and remember...

[I DO NOT OWN THE AWESOMENESS THAT IS A CERTAIN MAGICAL INDEX]

Everyone stared at the screen and the new prompt that was displayed.

[Small Acts of Kindness...]

"Well... thats pretty vague..."

Fukiyose mutters to no one in particular.

"Tch!"

Accelerator clicked his tongue.

"I swear if this gonna be some feel good sappy shit that the hero goes through I'm gonna fucking explode..."

"Now now, don't be like that Accel-kun! While you may be right about this being centered around Kamijou and his ... daily endeavors. If you think its going to be all sunshine and rainbows, well, I guess you'll just have to see for yourself."

The voice threw out this cryptic line that seemed to instill anxiousness in those watching.

"Don't look like that! While I'd admit that the things this boy has gone through has even surprised someone like me, its not like anything horrible is going to happen, probably..."

(She's enjoying this...)

Multiple people had these thoughts.

"Fuck! Not that I give a shit about this guy, but can you hurry up and start it! I swear, If I have to keep looking at Kinuhata blushing like a girl in love, I'm gonna maim someone!!!"

"M-mugino!? What are you super talking about!? I-I-I wasn't blushing!"

Kinuhata to denied it. However, it may been more believable with out the... you know... blush on her face.

"Whatever you say Mugino Shizuri... or should I call you by what was used in the memory. Ha ha, I think it was... psychotic bitch with lasers! Yeah thats it!"

The air suddenly grew a little colder.

"What... did you say...?"

Mugino's voice sended tremors to those near her. Hamazura closed his eyes in fright.

(Although I have a feeling I already know, whoever said that... may you rest in peace.)

"Wha... why is so chilly all of a sudden?"

Saten murmured while hugging herself.

"And without further ado... let's... Oh? Oh my Oh my Oh my..."

The voice then broke into a tone that suggested she had just found something very interesting.

"I have decided to add three more to our little party. This chance cannot simply be passed up. Oh yes! This will be quite insightful for you all to- on second thought... nope, I'm just bored! Ha ha!"

(She just went and admitted it!?!?)

Mikoto thought in annoyance.

"Alrighty... that's one, two andddddddd three! All limbs attached... good!"

Most tried to ignore that extremely worrisome comment.

POOF!

Suddenly, the air began to distort in front of the monitor and then...

The figures of three boys began to take form.

Now normally, the new attendees would just stand in shocked silence as their situation was explained to them. Their change in surroundings would make them confused and disoriented.

Yes. The keyword being 'normally'. These boys however, were anything but normal.

"Welcome... newcomers, I have brought you here in order to-""

"-So! In conclusion, headpats are better than handholding by a universal margin!!!"

This loud declaration interrupted the Voice with overwhelming vigor.

...

(Huh?)

Most people in the room felt their minds stop as they tried to process what had just been said. All gazes turned to the figure on the far left. A boy with slick blue hair with his eyes closed.

"Oh no..."

Fukiyose muttered in disbelief.

"Oh yes...!"

The Voice responded in glee, not at all bothered by the fact that she was interrupted.

"Tch! How dare you!? Hand holding is the purest form of affection there is, you Fake-Kansai bastard! Not only do you get to feel the warm softness of a girl's hand...!"

The boy who replied, one with spiky blonde hair and sunglasses, took a deep breath and continued.

"They also get to feel your hand as well, leading them to feel protected and safe! Why can't you understand something so simple!? Are you the type of person to selfishly think the guy is the only one who wants displays of physical contact. While the girl might be comfortable with a head pat, she just has to sit there and take it while you're groping her head!!!"

The boy with the blonde hair finished with extensive breathing. The boy who took the rant, looked unfazed.

"Don't taint the wonderful form of Headpats by calling them groping! Are you saying that if Maika offered her head to you that you just would ignore her!?"

Silence filled the air as the boy known as Aogami Pierce retorted.

(What the hell is with this tense atmosphere!?)

Many couldn't help but think that as they tried to get their thoughts to catch up with what they were witnessing.

"You bastard... you really went there..."

A low voice could be heard from the other boy, the one known as Tsuchimikado Motoharu.

"Don't say my sister's name so casually!!!"

Tsuchimikado wasted no time rushing towards Aogami, who also took a battle ready stance.

"Bring it you Sis-con! I'll show you without a doubt that my Headpats will always beat your Handholding!"

However, before the two boys could make contact with eachother, something else happened.

SMACK!

A resounding echo of brutality filled the room. And that was because of a single girl with a large forehead dealing two devastating blows simultaneously to the two idiots.

"Gah!/Gfah!"

Their bodies impacted to the ground, leaving them motionless and quiet.

"For once in your perverted and idiotic lives, READ THE DAMN ATMOSPHERE!!!!"

The girl, Fuiyose bellowed.

"A-are they dead...?"

Saten stammered out with a horrified look. Fukiyose just huffed in annoyance.

"Unlikely. They can survive a lot worse than that. I do this all the time."

(Is this girl a bully!?!?!?)

Everyone couldn't help but think.

" Hahaha! And...? What about you boy? Would you like to make a first impression as well?"

The Voice spoke, leading the stunned and confused room to look at the last one. The one still conscious.

"You gotta be fucking kidding me. Not this guy..."

Accelerator voiced out, a look of pure irritation on his face.

"W-wow...just now... that attack..."

The boy was trembling.

The one with a white headband, a rising sun t-shirt, and a coat that went over his shoulders like a cape, had his wavy spiky hair dipping down, covering his eyes. Then, he shot upright and screamed, startling everyone.

"IT HAD SO MUCH GUUUUTTTTSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

The one known as Sogita Gunha rushed over to the mollified Fukiyose.

"Miss, please punch me in the face!"

Sogita asked with an earnest expression. It was a reminiscent to a boy asking for a treat from his parents which, all things considered, was extremely concerning.

"What!? No! I'm not doing that!"

Fukiyose said in disbelief.

"If we don't get started soon... someone is going to die..."

Mugino said with an extremely chilly voice.

"Hahh... I love this job!"

The voice said in pure contentment.

Eventually, things were again proceeding smoothly. Well as simple as dealing with three idiots can be.

Tsuchimikado Motoharu, Aogami Pierce, and Sogita Gunha were all informed of their situation by the Voice.

And, they took it surprisingly well.

"I see I see, no wonder Kami-yan has most of his harem here."

Aogami said nonchalantly.

The many faces burst in red at that comment.

"Let's see... let's see... oh! I see some familiar faces!

Tsuchimikado grinned happily.

"Hey Accel-kun, how's it going?"

Accelerator just looked away annoyed.

"Don't fucking talk to me loser."

"Ha ha! Figures you'd be a tsundere. Oh my bad, second to you of course Miss Railgun."

Tsuchimikado bowed towards Mikoto.

"W-what the heck is that supposed to mean!?"

The boy laughed, then he caught someone's eye, who tried to look away quickly. She was too late.

"Is that you Nee-chin?"

Tsuchimikado made his way to bother the saint.

That just left Aogami and Sogita.

The first was gritting his teeth in anger.

"That bastard! Kami-yan has all these genres but he still denies having a harem! You got the Nun Loli, Prideful Sadist Loli, Erotic Imp Girl, Tsundere Middle Schooler, Perverted Twin Tailed Girl, The Clearly Not In Middle School Gyaru Girl, no... *sniff*... I can't. If I go any further I'm gonna cry."

Aogami dabbed at his eyes.

"Wait!? Why was I included!? I don't like that Ape!"

Shirai tried to retort, causing to Aogami to just look at her in pity.

"The girl doesn't even know yet... that's just so sad."

(Finally... I get to see what this Kamijou guy is made of. His guts might even be able to surpass mine...)

And finally, in the most unlikely case, it was Sogita Gunha with the most normal thoughts at the moment.

"Alright! This time for real! Without further ado, let's begin!"

Everyone trained their eyes towards the screen, as the memory known as 'Small Acts of Kindness' began...

[Scene Start]

"Mom!? Mom where are you!?"

A girl around the tender age of 12 wailed in a busy street in Academy City. Tears streaming down her terror stricken face, she called for mother over and over again.

"Were already starting on such a grim note..."

Kanzaki commented, frowning at the girl's plight.

"Yeah... she looks so scared."

Itsuwa agrees, while showing an equal amount of sympathy.

She was dressed in a cute pink outfit that went to her shins. It was decked out with frills, making it look like she was a modern princess. She also had an accessory in her short brown hair. It was a green frog with a derpy look.

"G-gekota..."

Mikoto whispered, a slight amount of excitement dancing in her eyes.

Shirai sighed and then chastised her upperclassman.

"Read the situation Onee-sama, now's not the time for that."

Similarly, a white haired boy flicked a young girl.

"Calm down brat, before I make you..."

"Yes... says Misaka Misaka while epitomizing a face of pain to make you feel guilty for hitting her."

The girl shivered in fear as her eyes darted from face to face. However, each one that she landed on quickly averted their gazes as they rushed passed her, not wanting anything to do with the crying girl.

This feeling of rejection seemed to terrify the girl even more as she began to back up slowly, arms hugging her herself in a firm grip.

(Mom... please...this is scary... these looks are scary...)

"How could they just ignore her!? As a member of Judgement, I can not forgive something like that!"

Shirai exclaimed.

"This is just like that memory with Touma. Even with what that man did to him, everyone just walked away, like it wasn't their problem. Its horrible... "

Index said, melancholic.

Backing up on the sidewalk, her foot landed on an empty soda can, causing her toq trip and fall backwards on her butt.

She winced slightly as she felt the cold pavement brush against her body.

(I'm sorry... I'm sorry... I'm sorry! I'm sorry I've been such a bad girl! Mom... please! Someone...Anyone...)

"Is no one going to help this girl!?"

Fukiyose asked in outrage, her protective instincts kicking in.

"Can't they see how scared she is!?"

"Psh... Don't look so worried Fukiyose, as you can see the girl just set a flag. And who do we know that lives his life conquering every route imaginable?"

Aogami appeared beside the girl, speaking with a grin.

The girl then closed her eyes tightly and let out a shaky breath, whispering softly into the boisterous crowd, hoping beyond hope someone would hear her voice.

"Help... me..."

"You've got it, Miss."

A soft and gentle voice reaches her.

"Is that..."

Itsuwa trailed off, relief beginning to fill her chest.

"Of course it is, he always seems to be in the right place at the right moment. Like a hero."

The girl shoots her eyes open in surprise, landing on the person right in front of her, looking down with a worried look.

It was a boy, an older boy.

He had a blue school uniform with a bag swung over his right shoulder. However, his most noticable trait was the black spiky hair he was sporting. That... and his blue eyes. Eyes swimming with gentleness and sincerity.

A faint blush appeared on the honey blonde haired girl.

(Oh my what is this!)

Shokuhou put her hands to her cheeks smiling in glee.

"He still looks like a charming prince, even after all this time. He he... what's a girl to do."

Mikoto, Saten, and even Shirai were not exempt from the aura the boy was emitting. Their cheeks began to heat up too. Some more than others.

I guess their was just something about a caring older boy that stimulated feelings in any girl's hearts.

"M-my mom..."

The girl only let out these words as she was still choking back sobs, new streams of tears going down her cheeks.

Then, the boy changed his worried look to one of understanding, putting on a smile for the frightened girl.

"Well then... if your looking for your mom, then this misfortune filled Kamijou can help you with that."

He extended a hand out towards her, having it rest there.

"How kind... he's being patient with her... says Misaka, while touched at the boy's thoughtfulness."

Imouto then performs a simple action, almost like she's done it a thousand times before. She reached and gripped an object hanging on her neck.

(Yes... it's the same feeling, really... really... warm.)

The sister smiled.

The girl looked confused at his choice of words, but then turned apprehensive, still not sure what she should do.

"M-my mom told me not to talk to strangers..."

The boy laughed.

"Ha ha! That's true. Hm... Oh! How about this?"

Kamijou's eyes lit up as he had thought of something.

"If you take my hand and come to a park near here, I'll tell you something really cool. We might even spot your mom from there. Sound like a plan?"

Her hesitation was still present, but... the girl finally offered a shy smile and took the boy's hand.

"Are you kidding me!? If I did something like that, I'd look hella suspicious! Man, boss really can do anything..."

Hamazura cried out in disbelief.

"Of course, that's because your just a Hamazura, Hamazura."

Mugino replied offhandedly.

"D-did you... Don't use my name as an insult!!!"

"Calm down, be thankful Kamijou doesn't act super Hamazura-y."

Kinuhata chipped in.

"And now your treating it like a disease!?"

Hamazura looked to his girlfriend, now with small tears in his eyes.

"Its okay, I still like you despite being such a Hamazura."

"TAKITSUBOOOOUUUUU!"

The boy began to lead her out of the busy street, making sure to be very careful with her along the way.

He was humming to himself with a smile on his face, sporting an expression that was at odds with what she herself was feeling. The boy looked... content.

"Even with all his misfortune, Touma is always happy and content! That's what I love about him."

Index said while smiling. Then she froze in shock as she realized what she had just said.

"Uwaa! No- I... Hnnnnnnn!"

The nun hunched over a internally screamed at herself.

"(I... love that about him too)"

Othinus whispered, a faint red emmiting from her cheeks.

[A/N: This means whispering/talking quietly now. "(...)" ]

She had also noticed that the boy's hand was large and rough, which she expected from a boy's hand. However... it was really soft and smooth at the same time. Different from her father's which was full of calluses and blisters from his work. But, similar to her mother, in the way that it made you feel protected and safe.

Many could not overcome the pang of jealousy that came with that description.

I mean, it wasn't often that Kamijou held hands with someone. If such an occasion did arise, it was almost never for the cozy mood melting atmosphere that many young maidens had in their hearts.

So seeing the warm protective aura that the the boy was radiating...

(Lucky...!!!)

Accelerator passed a glance to the other females to the room, noticing the collective grinding of teeth, and soft murmurs. He smirked at the sight.

Then there was the sight of Tsuchimikado delivering a solid punch to Aogami's shoulder, along with a cocky smirk.

"Told you! My handholding is way better than your Headpats!"

A certain Railgun blushed in remembrance of one of those. Also at the fact that she had found it extremely comforting, on that bridge so long ago.

(T-that doesn't bother me... that idiot's soft warm hands aren't something I think about at all...)

(S-surely that ape has the callous hands of the neanderthal he is.)

(I-I suppose I can hold his hand if he wants. F-for repaying my debts of course...)

(That seems nice...a-ah I mean Himegami would like that. I should encourage her.)

(D-does holding someone's hand feel that super nice? I-I guess that would be the case if they were super bigger than mine and really warm...)

And then the least amount of shame with..

"Holding hands!? What are we five? I can think of a ton of other uses for that hand that will have you all-"

WHACK!

"Shut your mouth you New Light slut!"

Birdway wasted no time slapping Lessar upside the head, saving the innocence of the entire room. Well... the ones that needed saving anyway.

"Owie Owie, No fair, I was only... hmm? Oh...!"

Lessar tried to defend herself but ultimately stopped when she caught the Dawn Colored Sunlight Girl with a forlorn expression and red tinted cheeks.

"Oh my what's this? Are you imagining big brother holding your hand? Telling you your cute, hmm? Hmm? Fufufu..."

Birdway snapped out of her... dream? Scheme? Stirring...? Who knows when it comes to that girl.

"H-huh? Of course not! A-as if I'd give that utter buffoon the privilege of holding my hand!"

"Ahh... to be young, naive and madly in love...!"

At that, all those with pure and impure thoughts alike, snapped their attention back to the screen.

Faced with such thoughts, the girl began to grow dejected once again. All she could think about was where her mother was. She unconsciously gripped the older boy's hand tighter.

Feeling this, he looked down at her face which was forming a frown. Kamijou squeezed her hand right back, his fingers wrapping around her soft palm.

"What's your name little miss?"

The girl snapped out of her thoughts, answering the boy with a meek tone.

"I-it's... Aiko.."

"Hmm... that's cute..."

Takitsubou muttered, a slight smile adorning her face. Hamazura's heart almost stopped.

(Geez... one smile and I'm almost down for the count. This relationship won't be good for my heart.)

Kamijou hummed slightly.

"That's a very nice name. Mine is Kamijou. You can call me that, okay?"

Kamijou looked down and gave her another smile.

The girl, Aiko, matched it with an embarrassed one, and nodded.

"M'kay... Kamijou."

As the two were talking, the park in question came into view. It was a nicely built park with no shortage of wide open areas. They took a seat at a bench near the street. This way, it would be easier to spot people coming in and out.

"Coming from him... that's actually a good idea..."

Shirai stated in slight surprise.

Judging by what they had seen thus far from the boy, Shirai had changed her harsh opinion of Kamijou Touma. She no longer thought of him as someone who was threatening her Onee-sama with his advances.

Actually, with what they gathered from the recent memories and from his friends, it was painfully clear that the guy had no knowledge of his effect on the opposite gender.

From her standpoint she could see the reasons why he would seem likeable in the eyes of others. He was kind, caring, and way too selfless for his own good.

(I mean, if no one had interfered... he would have ended his life... just so everyone in that fake world could continue smiling. What does a person have to go through to have himself believing that he is ...)

Shirai could only think of the words 'expendable' and 'disposable'.

And frankly that angered her. Although, she wasn't sure which infuriated her more; the fact that she herself had jumped to those horrible words, or the fact that the boy known as Kamijou Touma was so ready to accept them.

Shirai shook her head to dispel such thoughts.

"Alright Aiko, were here, now... we just wait for your Mom, okay? I'm sure she'll come and find you. There is no doubt that you'll be with her very soon."

Aiko nodded, satisfied and pleased with the boy's words. She began to feel elation in her chest, taking place of the bad thoughts which had plagued her mind.

"Kamijou has so much guts! Making a little girl feel at ease like that! Wow!"

Sogita muttered in a daze.

"Tch! Making it look so effortless..."

Aogami grumbled.

"Oh! I believe I owe you a story!"

Kamijou said as he just remembered.

"T-thats right!"

Aiko leaned forward while sitting, getting closer to Kamijou unintentionally.

(Surely she's not already...)

Many girls narrowed their eyes in suspicion. They all knew how Kamijou's behavior can easily be misconstrued as deliberate kindness; however the fact was that was how Kamijou Touma was.

"Were all doomed..."

Two lonely boys said simultaneously.

The boy just looked at her for a moment, dumbstruck, then, started to laugh.

"W-wait, what's so funny?"

Kamijou put a hand in his hair, while also trying to reign in his laughter.

"Ha ha, it's just that you look like my roommate. She gives me that same cute eager look whenever I make her food. The resemblance was uncanny, I couldn't help it, ha ha."

Index's face turned a brilliant shade of scarlet as she was stuck staring at the screen, specifically the boy's face from where the words had come from. And now she couldn't stop from imagining the boy saying that to her face.

Aiko looked puzzled at the info, but was momentarily distracted by one word.

(C-cute? Me...?)

"Oh look Kinuhata, if he's so quick to compliment little girls then you might have a chance."

The moment the words came out Hamazura's mouth he knew he was screwed. He immediately stiffened up in fear. Even more so when he made eye contact with said girl.

"U-um Kinuhata... if you stare at me like that, I'm naturally going to fear for my life."

"Yeah, that's super the intention, thing..."

Kinuhata replied with so much venom that even an adult would wilt.

"Hiiiiiiiiii!"

She has heard the same from family and relatives countless times before. However, hearing it from a stranger made her feel embarrassed. Especially from an older boy.

"Aiko? Are you okay, your face is all red. Although... it is pretty hot today."

Kamijou addressed the girl in front of him, placing his hand on her forehead, checking her body temperature.

(She's burning up...!)

Kamijou shifting his hand in worry was all that was needed as Aiko rapidly backed away from the boy, face aflame.

"I-I-I'm fine... n-no need to worry."

Aiko said these words while fidgeting slightly in her seat.

"Hmm... well, alright."

"Explode. Explode. Explode. Explode. Explode. Explode. Explode. Explode. Explode. Explode."

Aogami and Tsuchimikado were seething in rage as they chanted this.

And of course the girl's were seething as well, although it was for a different reason than the boy's.

(Look at that bashful smile on her face, that brat enjoyed it...)

Shokuhou let out displeasure that she usually is able to keep in check.

(I'm the only one who gets to push for the little sister route.)

Birdway thought, clearly annoyed at the turn of events.

Kamijou nodded, although still confused by her behavior.

"Y-you were going to tell me something cool?"

Aiko prompted, desperate to change the topic to cool down her embarrassment.

"That's right! It's your hairpin!"

Kamijou's eyes widened, smiling in realization.

Mikoto's eyes lit up a little.

"Huh...? My hairpin... you mean Gekota?"

Aiko unconsciously reached up to touch the frog, giving a confused glance towards Kamijou.

Gekota was Aiko's favorite character. She was always on the lookout for anything having to do with her favorite mascot. Whether that be plushies, toys, or clothing; she loved the way the cute frog looked.

Mikoto began to feel excited at the girl's enthusiasm. The fact that a fellow fan had as much interest as she did in the cute character filled her with child like joy.

"What about it?"

"Its just, someone I know is a huge fan of that frog as well. You and her would make great friends. You'd have a lot to talk about I'm sure."

"Ah..."

And that was why she almost missed the next comment coming from the boy's mouth.

Now Aiko was even more curious. While Gekota was a popular children's mascot with many admirers, it was rare to meet a devoted fan like herself. She was very interested in meeting such a person.

"You know someone like that!? What's their name, what are they like!?"

Aiko bounced up and down, speaking excitedly.

"Umm... its Misaka Mikoto, but you'd probably know her as the Railgun, the #3 I think?"

Kamijou said this thoughtfully.

Mikoto suddenly felt a need to straighten her posture.

(W-whats this... why does it feel so weird knowing that Idiot was talking about me?)

He didn't notice the complete silence on the girl's part though.

"I personally think she's too old for stuff like that, but... whatever makes her... Aiko?"

The girl could feel the seconds pass as she just processed what the boy had said.

Aiko's mind suddenly stopped.

(Ehhhhhhhhhh!?)

"Kyaaaaaaahhhhhh! Y-you mean the Level 5 that attends Tokiwadai, the school that breeds high class ladies!? T-the place of pure refinement and elegance?"

The girl squealed in happiness.

"Hmph! I should have known our school is seen as the best of the best. It is Tokiwadai after all."

Shirai said haughtily.

"Uh... y-yeah... er... that's the one... ha ha."

Kamijou replied awkwardly.

Shirai suddenly looked confused and a tad bit suspicious.

(Huh? What's up with that reaction...?)

He didn't have the heart to tell her that the stereotype of Tokiwadai ladies being elegant and refined wasn't... entirely accurate.

A certain twin tailed teleporter came to mind, causing to Kamijou to instinctively touch the back of his head. He felt shivers go down his spine.

(Yep. Definitely not Shirai. No way.)

Shirai was at first dumbstruck at the thought, then, confused at being recognized. However that quickly turned to outrage.

"H-huh? Who does he think he is speak to me in such a manner!? On what basis does he think I lack elegance and refinement?"

"Kuroko, what are you talking about, everytime you meet him you-"

Mikoto wanted to say something in regards to that, but someone quickly cut her off.

"Oh my! Surely you are the last person to criticize others of disgraceful behavior, isn't that right Misakaaa?"

Shokuhou interrupted with a sense of mocking in her voice.

"Geh!"

Mikoto quickly shut up. As much as it annoyed her, that honey blonde succubus was right. She did usually resort to violence in one way or another when that guy is involved.

(Its because he's acts like such an idiot all the time though!)

"K-kamijou! Your friends with a Level 5!? That's so cool!"

Aiko exclaimed in awe.

"Yeah... at least I think were friends... honestly it's hard to tell sometimes... with her shocking me all the time..."

"Fufufufufufu..."

Shokuhou's mocking laughter only served to stab into Mikoto's heart even more.

Kamijou muttered that last part, leaving the girl confused.

But that didn't stop her as she happily asked her next question. She put her hands on her knees, staring at Kamijou attentively.

Kamijou just smiled happily at her eagerness. He was honestly glad he had gotten her out of her previous mood. The happiness on the girl's face was a far cry from the terrified expression she was wearing earlier. And heck, if just talking with her made her feel happy and satisfied, then who was he to refuse.

"That guy really is untainted by the dark side of this city isn't he...? It pisses me off!."

Mugino said slowly.

"You know Miss Meltdowner, your not exactly correct about that..."

The voice interrupted, causing Mugino to instantly refute back.

"What are you talking about? Are you gonna tell me that this bundle of naivety has seen the same amount of darkness as me!?"

"No... he hasn't, if anything, he seen way more than should be possible..."

That comment sent shivers down the rest of the room, setting the mood to that of a gloomy one.

This of course, was not lost on Mugino and her group, well, the ones who weren't there to see it.

The voice didn't say anything more than that. After all, what could be said with words that would be able to explain what happened to that boy.

That he suffered, that he cried, that he... bled?

Those of course were all options, but none of them were distinct enough to carry the weight of what Kamijou Touma had gone through.

All because he couldn't give up the idea of returning to his world. The one that was indeed full of broken hearts, crimes, and all kinds of sadness.

However he did it anyway, because the boy wanted his life back.

(And you still act so kind and understanding of everyone you meet, even though that should have been lost on you after an experience like that...)

Itsuwa thought happily.

Trying to get the somber mood out of their heads, the occupants continued to watch the screen.

On a related note, with another misfortune filled day, the last thing he expected was to come across such a distressed girl.

"It couldn't have been that super terrible. Right?"

Kinuhata phrased it like a statement, but then saw everyone's reactions.

Between the cleaning robots taking his wallet, being chased by a very aggressive dog, missing the bus home, tripping over someone's girlfriend, and then the group of friends of said 'someone' chasing him down the back alleys of Academy City; Kamijou thought that he had filled his daily quota of misfortune for the day.

"Uh..."

Kinuhata completely blanked on what to say.

(Tha-thats what he had to deal with that day!? That truly is ... huh... misfortunate.)

And also... let's not forget the... dressing room incident. He was still not sure how the hell that had transpired.

Fukiyose narrowed her eyes in suspicion.

As she already had the firm belief that Kamijou's misfortune was either made up or extremely exaggerated, that perspective was immediately shattered due to the events of previous memories.

But this one in particular sounded suspicious.

(I mean seriously!? I try to give a dropped ID back to a lady, and just when I'm about to reach her, I trip and fall into one of the dressing rooms with her. Such misfortune!!!)

Kamijou could still feel the slaps. Yes, slaps.

(Apparently after Lady #1 got her justice, nearby Ladies 2, 3, and 4 delivered their divine punishment as well. Oh yeah, and then one more from Lady #1, as she realized I was holding her ID. Again, such misfortune.)

Kamijou cried on the inside.

"Wow... that sucks..."

Lessar was the first one to speak up. Instinctive nods followed he statement.

Even Shirai, who was still a little disgruntled at Kamijou's earlier comment, managed to feel almost bad for her earlier outburst.

And then there was...

"Pftt! Ha ha ha ha ha ha!"

Hamazura, Tsuchimikado, Aogami, and Accelerator all laughed outloud at the boy's shortcomings.

Sogita however looked immensely... in awe. He then began to mumble to himself that Kamijou had a lot of guts for having to deal with that much misfortune.

Regardless of what happened to him, he was extremely distraught when he saw groups of people ignoring the girl like she was an annoyance and a bother.

And that's why he made his way to the crying girl to help with whatever problem she had. Whatever it took to bring a smile on that face. Nothing else mattered.

Many hearts softened at that.

Their were too many times when they themselves were on the other side of that kindness. Something that Kamijou Touma would always find himself giving people, even at the expense of his own.

"That boy truly has a one track mind when it comes to helping people."

Kanzaki mused, a smile reaching her lips.

"Yeah, but it's also a pain when he's too distracted by it..."

Styil spoke up next to her.

"But... if everyone was like him then..."

The Flame Magician trailed off.

Kanzaki knew exactly what he wanted to say.

Because the simple fact was that if everyone was like Kamijou Touma, or... most magicians in general had met the boy sooner, it was guaranteed that almost none of them would be on the same path that they were on.

"-ijou! Kamijou! Hello, I asked you a question!"

Aiko's voice suddenly echoed to his hears, causing Kamijou to snap out of it.

"Huh? What did you say?"

Aiko then sported an angry pout.

"I said... what's she like? Your Level 5 friend. What's Miss Misaka like?"

The attention of the group suddenly switched to the Level 5 in question. Said girl squirmed in embarrassment of the attention.

(Geez... way to put me on the spot like that... wait! What's that idiot going to say about me!?)

Mikoto brought up a really good question.

Kamijou went silent at such a question, then made a thoughtful expression.

(Right... we were talking about Biri Biri...)

"Hmm... what's Misaka like? Well, I think the best way to describe her is like an angry bug zapper."

Aiko blinked her eyes, once, twice, three times.

Everyone froze.

"Um... did he say... an angry bug zapper...?"

Saten said in nervous confusion.

Why nervous you ask. Well...

Biri Biri Biri Biri*

The bug zapper in question was emitting many volts of high current electricity from her bangs.

"Tha-tha-tha -that idiot!"

(What did he just say?)

She was about to question him, but the boy kept speaking.

"Yeah, she will lash out at you when angry or embarrassed. She is abrasive and hot-headed, and can come off as a bit cocky. She's extremely competitive, not wanting to lose at anything. She is also very childish for her age. All this makes her so difficult to be around."

Kamijou listed off all these things with his eyes closed, his tone reminiscent of a teacher scolding their student. Aiko's face got more and more pale each passing second.

(T-this sounds like someone I should avoid...)

Mikoto's face grew hot with apparent rage. The electricity multipled, making several people take steps back in order to remain safe.

"Who does that idiot think he-"

"But..."

Kamijou opened his eyes and smiled. Aiko noticed how they softened considerably from when he was just speaking.

"She is a kind girl who cares about her friends more than anything, having no problem putting her life in danger in order to protect them. She tries harder than anyone, because she refuses to give up when she is told she can't do something. She will try to help you unconditionally, regardless if you're friend or a stranger. All these things are the traits that I can't stop myself from liking about her. She is someone I respect a whole lot. Oh! And I guess that from a guy's perspective, she's kinda cute too!"

POOF!

All the electricity that the middle schooler was producing was gone in an instant. If you ask what took its place.. would the face of a maiden be an acceptable answer?

"Uwawawawa!"

Mikoto brought her shaking hands to her cheeks, trying to cool down the scarlet heat that was burning her. From her cheeks, face, ears, and neck. Everything was burning from none other than the emotion known as embarrassment. And as everyone knows, their is only so much of that a Tsundere can take.

"Funyah? H-h-h-he he-said c-c-cute!"

Now, those who weren't sure at first as to whether or not the #3 Level 5 held... romantic feelings for the Imagine Breaker boy; well, they were convinced now.

Especially the Level 0 girl grinning ear to ear, and the twin tailed teleporter who was grinding her teeth in dismay.

And then there was Tsuchimikado and Aogami.

"Tsuchimikado... h-he's talking to one girl, b-but flirting with another... at the same time!?"

"I know man... I know."

"AND HE'S DOING IT ALL UNINTENTIONALLY!!!

The two boys broke into quiet tears after that.

Kamijou finished speaking and directed his gaze to Aiko, who was...

"Wait! Why are you crying!?"

Aiko was wiping at her eyes filled to the brim with tears.

"Uwaaa! I-its just... she sounds like such a good person!!!"

Aiko sniffed.

Kamijou simply looked and grinned.

"Yeah... she is."

After taking a moment to calm down, Aiko smiled.

"It sounds like you have no problem calling out the good and bad things of Miss Misaka. Are you guys dating?"

Mikoto, as well as others, did a massive spit take.

So while Mikoto and her hyperactive imagination ran wild, other people had different reactions.

(I know my prince is extremely charming at times, but don't just throw him a question like that out of the blue!)

Shokuhou huffed.

(That guy has little thought about the things he says!)

Fukiyose thinks with annoyance. The earlier comments still on her mind.

Kamijou froze.

"C-come again...?"

"You sound like you like her a whole lot, are you guys boyfriend and girlfriend?"

She asked with an excited tone.

Kamijou simply answered with a sheepish expression.

"N-no, we aren't dating. Were just... friends. Besides..."

Many sighed in relief at that. None wanted to admit that very question had them extremely on edge.

Kamijou's expression then turned to a relaxed look, as if he thought his next words were an absolute fact.

"I would never want to screw up a person's life that badly just for my own self satisfaction. I don't think I could live with myself if I did that to her."

The silence was deafening.

"Wh...at?"

"Wh...at?"

The question unconsciously came out of the mouths of many.

To say that everyone was shocked at the boy's comment was an understatement. It was the kind of thing where, even though they heard the words being said, processing them to what they meant, it all still came out causing nothing but confusion to those who heard it.

Especially because it was said by the one person who they would have thought would have never said such a thing.

"Kamijou... why would you say such a thing...?"

Fukiyose muttered, still trying to understand. Even Tsuchimikado and Aogami beside her wore grim expressions on their faces.

The boy froze as he realized what had just slipped out of his mouth.

"Ah! Sorry about that Aiko, forget what I said, I didn't mean to..."

He stopped when a small hand landed on his. He looked up to see Aiko with a slightly hurt look in her eyes.

"Kamijou... what did you mean by that...?"

Aiko said slowly, more confused than anything.

Kamijou cursed his luck at what had accidently slipped out. Out of all things to be said, he can't believe that he had said that. And the last thing he wanted to do was explain something so... personal ... to someone a few years younger than him.

Personal.

The word echoed in the minds of those watching. The way he said that made them want to flinch at the implication.

Kamijou was about to pass it off as a joke, however Aiko continued before he could speak.

"I don't know what you meant by something like that, and it might be rude to pry... but!"

Aiko gripped his hand harder, the fragile hand that belonged to the scared little girl was gone, and replaced with an aura of utter certainty.

"I-I think your a really nice person Kamijou! You went out of your way to help me even though you don't even know me. A-and I might have been scared at first but you were really gentle and kind to me until I was calm. I-I think that was really cool!"

Aiko stuttered out with her eyes trained on his, cheeks reddening with each passing second.

"So, I don't see how anyone would be burdened by having you as a ... l-lover..."

The feeling was mutual. Although many were unaware of what the boy's earlier cynicism truly meant, they knew the boy known as Kamijou Touma wouldn't needlessly worry someone with his problems

Regardless, many felt pleased that the words spoken by the girl closely resonated with what they would have told the boy had they been there instead.

"Aiko..."

The boy let out, then his eyes softened.

"It makes me very happy and flattered that you think that way. And your a sweet girl for saying such things to a guy like me...but..."

The way he said those words, sent certain pangs of hurt in the hearts of those that were enamored with the boy.

"Your saying it like you don't deserve the praise, idiot..."

Mikoto said softly, cheeks warming up slightly.

Kamijou trailed off, donning a contemplative expression. Then, he let out a sigh of resignation.

"There is just this ... condition that I have. And... it isn't so simple that it can be ignored when it comes to things like rom-"

"Oh my God! Kamijou, are you dying!?"

Aiko shrieks, tears threatening to escape her eyes once again.

"What? No! No, I'm not dying!"

"Oh..."

Aiko relaxed, breathing a sigh of relief. Kamijou continues.

Aiko's outburst made everyone feel the tiniest bit of worry, but then saw it fitting as soon as they realized what Kamijou was doing.

It was because of his misfortune.

And for reasons still unknown to them, Kamijou Touma saw fit to demoralize himself because of it.

"The thing is, this condition shows up wherever and whenever. Their is no off switch and I definitely can't control it. Heh... I can't even recall how many times I've been hospitalized this last week. Haha, I mean they even made a room just for me. All the nurses even know my name...*sniff*... wow that's really depressing..."

Kamijou mutters, then shakes his head, snapping out of his rambling.

Hearing his misfortune presented in such a way, many couldn't help but feel pity for the boy.

"It's true, Touma is always getting sent to the hospital. I think their was one time when he said it was like a second home to him. Of course, immediately after he said it, he grew very depressed for a while..."

Index recounted, leaving many to wonder how the boy continues to smile like an idiot each day.

"With bad things happening to me on a daily... on an hourly... With bad things happening to me on an constant basis! I would rather not want anyone I know, let alone love, get involved with that with me. How selfish and evil would someone have to be to wish that upon another person. I would never want to do that. Not ever..."

(Ah... so that's what it is...)

Kanzaki feels like she understands what the boy is meaning to say.

(Does he think that he needs to distance himself from others so they aren't in the way of his misfortune?)

Kanzaki then smiles sadly.

"Even so, their is still something wrong with that thinking... Kamijou."

Kamijou finishes, looking back to Aiko who was deep in thought.

Then she gave Kamijou a slight smile, trying to think of the words she wanted to express.

"Kamijou... did your condition... cause me to get separated from my Mom?"

"God I hope not! That would be a whole new level of misfortune if I start causing domestic issues between families!!!"

Kamijou instantaneously says, his voice going higher in worry.

"I'm not really sure what you mean by that, but my point was no! You didn't!"

Chuckling lightly filled the room.

With the boy blaming almost everything on his misfortune, he didn't need anymore things to worry about because of it.

Aiko took a deep breath and asked her next question.

"Was it your fault that everyone ignored me when I was sitting on the ground, scared out of my mind...?"

"Uh... I don't think so?"

Kamijou said unsure, confused as to where she was going with this.

The occupants were of a similar mindset. Although, the girl was clearly asking questions leading her to something that she had already figured out about the boy.

Aiko's grin grew even wider, the radiance surprising Kamijou.

"Did you use that... condition of yours as an excuse to avoid having to help me?"

"Of course not! I would never do that! If I saw someone that needed help, their would be no way I could just look the other way!"

Kamijou adamantly denied the 'accusation', putting his hands on the girl's shoulders, looking her straight in the eyes with a serious expression.

Kamijou's instant reply didn't fail to put a smile on the faces of those that were watching.

"Same as always, Kamijou."

Saten smiled happily.

Aiko hitched her breath in surprise at the sudden contact, then looked away with a scarlet face. She then cleared her throat.

"R-right. The point is, your not using your condition as an excuse to abandon people...so why... why would it make sense for you to use it as one to be happy instead. To... l-love someone..."

"Well... that's because... I... uh..."

Kamijou was struck dumb. He didn't have anything to say about something like that.

Kamijou Touma had said that he wasn't a hero. And he would probably never proclaim he was one. But for someone who helps people when they are in trouble, smiles at those who are frowning, and pulls others out from the suffering holding them down; what other word can be used?

And that's why the girl's words made the most sense.

Kamijou blamed his misfortune on almost everything, and he would complain whenever something bad would befall him. But, under no circumstances would Kamijou ever use this aspect of his life as an excuse not to do something.

Even when...

Fighting off multiple adversaries that were far stronger than him. All in the hope that the girl he was protecting didn't have to live her life constantly running away in fear.

Clenching his fist against an opponent who was deemed untouchable in the eyes of Academy City and its power curriculum.

And...

Deciding to protect a Magic God from the entire world, because he stubbornly believed that the girl who had tortured him with glee, still didn't deserve the fate that she was prepared to accept.

With each passing thought of what the boy had done for them despite having the easier option of refusing, they couldn't deny the warmth that emitted from them.

Aiko kept speaking, the crux of her point laid bare.

"You don't have to be so selfless Kamijou. You... can choose to be selfish if you want..."

Aiko then pursed her lips.

"No one... no one would hold it against you."

The words that were said ringed in Kamijou's ears.

...No one would hold it against you...

...No one would hold it against you...

...No one would hold it against you...

(That's not...)

Kamijou's whole demeanor changed in an instant.

Everyone stiffened in shock at the boy's reaction. The usual calm aura that the boy always wore was replaced with something far more... cold.

There was a foreboding chill surrounding him. It gave off the impression of terror, fear, and... overwhelming guilt. The steady beating of his heart suddenly went into overdrive, making each one deafening to his own ears. And then...

A deep exhale of breath was heard from Kamijou. And with that... it was gone. Like nothing even happened.

"K-kamijou...?"

A similar reaction echoed in the room.

"K-kamijou...?"

"T-touma...?"

"W-what was that...?"

Compared to the boy's previous words of self scorn, this time, no one had an inkling of an idea of what could have triggered such a reaction.

Even Othinus, who had spent lifetimes with the boy, had no discernible reason as to why Kamijou acted the way he did.

But maybe the most frightening thing, was that Kamijou Touma had dismissed it entirely, like it was never there in the first place.

A worried voice jostled his senses, making him train his eyes towards Aiko. After such a display, the girl was looking at him with clear concern on her face, maybe even a little bit frightened. But the boy...

"Huh? What's the matter Aiko, I got something on my face?"

The boy laughed at her perplexed face. He formed a grin that was all too natural, that showed no troubles whatsoever. There... was nothing in his expression that showed his earlier reaction.

"Are you sure that nothing's-"

A loud voice cut through the conservation, causing both boy and girl to jump in surprise, turning their heads to the street.

Everyone's shoulders jumped in shock at the loud voice, interrupting any thoughts of the matter at hand.

"Aiko! Aiko is that you! Oh my baby! I was so worried!"

It was a woman.

She was waving at them, clear happiness and relief visible on her face. She started a brisk walk in their direction.

"Could that be her..."

Fukiyose trailed off.

"Mom...?"

Aiko let out in shock, then relief flooding her face as well.

"Mom!"

Aiko rushed over to her, meeting her halfway, embracing the woman immediately, crying into her arms.

(So that's that then... an ending where everyone can go home smiling...)

Kamijou... was still sitting on the bench, smiling at the scene. Nodding his head in satifcation, he reached for his bag and proceeded to get up and walk in the opposite direction from the family.

"Huh!? He's just going to super leave!? Just like that?"

Kinuhata asked in shock.

For someone like her, despite seeing the actions of the boy thus far, seeing him attempt to leave without any praise or so much as a reward, it genuinely baffled her.

"Touma doesn't care about those things. Like he just mentioned, he always just wants everyone to go home with a smile on their faces."

Index replied to the girl, a soft smile gracing her features.

However, before making his exit, he noticed someone slightly behind the mother and daughter duo.

It was a girl. She had her hands clasped in front of her with a satisfied look. She was a petite girl with a small cute face, one with a laurel of flowers on her head. And... a Judgement band around her arm.

"Uiharu!?!?"

The Not-So-Complete-Railgang exclaimed in shock.

"Why is she here!?"

Saten immediately followed up.

The girls were indeed surprised when they saw their flower loving friend. And even more surprised that the girl hadn't ever mentioned meeting Kamijou. Although, they might be getting ahead of themselves.

(Knowing that guy, he would probably just want to run away at the first sign of trouble!)

Mikoto admonished.

Regardless, the three girls looked back to the screen.

...

(Hold on...)

(WAIT! Doesn't this look really really bad!? Didn't I essentially drag a younger girl to a secluded relatively empty place by using sweet words? It's totally gonna look like I was trying to make off with her!!!)

Kamijou sweatdropped at the realization. He gulped nervously.

"Thank you! If anyone else tried to do that, they'd instantly be branded a pervert, especially me!"

Hamazura complained, repeating his earlier statement.

This however only gave him looks of slight disgust from his group, save for Takitsubou of course. She was an angel.

Silently, the room was thankful. After such a depressing mood, it was entertaining to see the boy squirm.

Especially for people like Birdway.

(Ho ho! Interesting...)

The blonde girl thought.

(Ok Kamijou think!)

The way he saw it he had two options.

Option one.

He can get up and run for his life.

"I knew it..."

Mikoto griped, rubbing her forehead.

His misfortune only caused him to run around 3 miles today, so... he was probably still good for another couple before he was completely out of energy.

"3 miles!?"

Practically the whole room shouted.

(N-no wonder his stamina is insane!)

Everyone was thinking of his ability to keep moving despite any injury or disadvantage placed in his way.

Well... almost everyone. Do I even to explain what Lessar was thinking.

"Hehehehehe..."

The girl's disturbing giggles ensued.

But... that would make him totally guilty! Which he wasn't! Besides, no one really needs to know that he helped this girl anyway, so it's not like he was needed for anything.

Multiple people face palmed at that.

(Your so modest my prince...)

Shokuhou thought dryly.

And Aiko would surely forget about him fairly quickly, he was just a normal highschool boy after all. The last thing Kamijou wanted to do was to set flags in girls younger than him.

A loud sigh echoed throughout the room. And then blushes when they realized what they were indirectly admitting.

Kamijou shivered uncontrollably.

(That's weird... why does it seem like I'm being harshly judged...?)

"Because your a bastard who sets flags without even meaning to!"

Aogami yelled in fury.

Anyway! Option two.

He can simply just walk over there and explain the situation. Easy right? The girl could even back him up. That way, he can get out of this situation whilst also preventing his ever dropping reputation from getting any lower.

Wait... what if she betrays him. Kamijou knew enough girls to realize they all had a demonic side to them. Not to name names or point fingers but Birdway, Birdway, and Birdway!

"Ooohhhh? Aren't you lucky you aren't here right now."

Birdway commented with enough ice to make all the dwindling polar bears happy.

Lessar even saw fit to back away, making sure not to further anger the Cabal Leader.

Aiko could totally throw him under the bus!

Although... inherently nice girls did exist. Itsuwa! Itsuwa is a really nice girl who is sweet and caring to everyone! It would be rude of him to assume all girls have bad intentions and are out to get him.

The girl in question immediately blushed at the praise.

(H-he thinks of me as a nice girl!?)

The Amakusa girl was beyond happy at such a thought.

Alright, maybe option 3-

"Excuse me... sir, can I ask you a few questions?"

(NOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! I SPENT TOO MUCH TIME MONOLOGINNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGNG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Accelerator, for the first time in a while, let out a bark like laugh.

"Heh, what a damn idiot, should've focused on his surroundings."

And then even more surprising...

"Pfttt Ha ha ha!"

Misaka Worst laughed loudly at the boy's misfortune.

"This Misaka is uploading this to all the other units! Hahahaha!"

"Of course! Whatever you need Flower Girl!"

"Flower girl...? Really..."

Shirai said dryly.

Kamijou, whose thoughts were at odds with his mouth, spoke in a jovial tone to the Judgment girl in front of him.

"R-right... its Uiharu by the way, Uiharu Kazari..."

Uiharu Kazari, who was slightly smaller than the boy, stood at a respectable distance away from Kamijou as she spoke. It was clear to him that she was probably in middle school. It was also clear that this girl was incredibly timid. Especially in the face of talking to strangers.

"Its my misfor- pleasure! I-it's a pleasure to meet you. My name is Kamijou Touma. S-so, how can I help you...?"

Kamijou asked nervously.

(He was totally about to say misfortune!)

Practically everyone thought.

"Ghr... how could he treat Uiharu like she's a bother...?"

Shirai growled.

"Well... eye witness reports state that they saw Miss Aiko and a spiky haired boy come to this park. Would that by you Mr. Kamijou?"

"Yes..."

Kamijou replied hesitantly

Uiharu nodded, proceeding to explain.

"When the mother first came to me, she said she wanted to file a missing person's report for her daughter. But we couldn't really do that if she was missing for such a short time. Luckily you two were found very quickly. If you can just answer a few questions related to this, all the complicated paperwork won't be necessary. I'm sure Shirai will be pleased with that as well."

Kamijou's eyebrow twitched.

(Y-you've had a long day Kamijou, surely you misheard her...)

Shirai huffed in annoyance.

"Not that I care or anything, but why does he want it not to be me..."

Kamijou, a little distracted, replied offhandedly.

"Of course, whatever makes your job easier Uiharu."

Uiharu was caught a little off guard by the boy's words, the sincerity surprising her.

"Is something wrong?"

"Huh? No! I-its just... people, usually don't treat Judgement with very much respect, since were still students and lower than Anti-skill..."

Uiharu trailed off.

"Why wouldn't I respect you?"

"Eh?"

"I-is no one safe...?"

Aogami whispered scarcely. Tsuchimikado replied in a similar tone.

"No...no one is safe from the Kami-yan disease. I suggest we quarantine those not affected to prevent the risk of an outbreak."

While the boy's hatched their plan to save mankind, or in this case, womankind, Mikoto and her friends were having different thoughts.

(Surely Uiharu won't... I mean, no one would fall in love with just a nice comment, right?)

Uiharu looked confused at the boy's claim. Kamijou saw this and continued.

"Despite this part of the job being out of your comfort zone, your still taking your duties very seriously. Thats a hell of lot more respectable than what a guy like me can do. And honestly, no one has the right to put you down for it."

Uiharu was flabbergasted. Apart from her friends, no one had actively praised her like this before. Certainly not someone she had just met.

"Huh, that's actually really considerate of-"

Mikoto starts to say.

"Um... Uiharu? Do you need some water, your face is heating up. Huh... that's twice today."

"I take back what I said, stop talking to her you oblivious idiot!!!"

The Railgun ranted, blowing her fuse.

Saten just laughed sheepishly off to the side, with an also miffed Shirai next to her.

"Stupid ape... watch what you say..."

"Whaaa! N-no, I'm just fine. Um... I was just surprised at what you said."

Uiharu took a deep breath to calm herself down.

"But your right. I don't normally do this part of the job. My partner Shirai is way better at things like this than me. She's powerful and she knows what to do in any situation. Although... she never seems to want to do her paperwork."

Uiharu says this in praise, however not too subtlety saying that last part.

(I KNEW IT! This unlucky Kamijou can't catch a break... Also! Do your own paperwork Shirai!)

While warmed at her friend's praise, she couldn't help but state her defence.

"W-what? Doing paperwork is really boring. I'd be better spent working in the field..."

Kamijou thought this in outrage, which is what made his next words all the more painful.

"Your partner sounds like... a really good person. I can't imagine someone like that would go drop kicking people out of the blue... right?"

"Ah..."

Shirai let out.

Uiharu looks confused at the boy's specificity, answering in kind.

"No... that's not something she would particularly do."

(SO ITS JUST MEEEEEEEEEEEE!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?)

Everyone turned to the girl, giving her a level stare, which caused the girl to avert her eyes with a slightly red face.

"H-he deserves it... most of the time...?"

Her uncertainty made her statement less believable.

Kamijou internally ranted.

(What is it with this never ending gag of misfortune!? With gluttonous nuns with sharp teeth, BiriBiri Tsunderes attacking left and right, and my Iron Wall classmate giving out beatings daily, this poor Kamijou cannot handle anymore female inflicted violence. Who's next!? Some psychotic bitch that shoots lasers!?)

Several guilty looks passed through the room. Fukiyose, Mikoto, and Index's attempt to keep a straight face failed miserably.

And then..

"A psychotic bitch huh? Hehehehe..."

Mugino broke into creepy laughter that did not mean anything good.

"Wow Kamijou, you've got a lot of guts."

Sogita said proudly.

"Mr. Kamijou are you okay? You look like your about to cry!?"

"No no I'm... fine. Um, you were going to ask me some questions?"

He drawled out.

"That's right! Can you tell me everything that happened in regards to Miss Aiko?"

Uiharu asked.

Kamijou simply sighed.

"Its not much of a story. I just found her crying on the ground and brought her to this park. She and her mom got separated so I figured coming to a non crowded place nearby would be the best course of action."

He explained this all to the Judgment Officer, who kept nodding.

"That was a noble action for you to take Mr. Kamijou. You have my thanks."

Uiharu bowed in gratitude, which only served to unnerve Kamijou.

"Ah!? You don't need to going bowing to someone like me. I only did what anyone would have done in my situation."

Kamijou quickly said, his hand rubbing the back of his head.

"Nope, its only you who would have done it Loverboy..."

Lessar said with a smile.

"No need to be so modest Hun"

A new voice came into their conversation. The person accompanying said voice made their way to stand beside Uiharu. Along with with the young girl Kamijou had gotten to know. It was Aiko and her mother.

The mother stared at him with warmth.

"From what Aiko told me, everyone else just ignored her. You were the only one who decided to act. Thank you so much for looking after my daughter, Kamijou was it?"

Kamijou grew even more nervous at the fact that a second person was now bowing to him. And the fact that it was an older woman did not make it better.

Aiko, who looked between her mother and Uiharu, put a fist into an open palm in a really cute way, then proceeded to bow towards the boy as well.

"That gesture was really cute, but it wasn't an opening for you to bow as weeeeellllllllllll!!!"

Kamijou yelled in the park, trying to mask his flustered face.

(Awww! He's embarrassed...!)

Shokuhou thought happily, as she almost never got to see that expression on his face.

Kanzaki had similar thoughts.

(Interesting... he's usually so laid back and casual. So he can get flustered like that too, cute.)

Uiharu giggled slightly at the boy's expression, but then proceeded to clear her throat.

"Ahem. Well, that will be all Mr. Kamijou. Thank you for your cooperation. And um... thank you for earlier as well."

Uiharu finished with a slightly red face before she turned and briskly walked away, not before nodding at the mother and daughter.

Kamijou just watched her leave with a thoughtful expression.

(Uiharu Kazari. Hmm... now that I think about it, didn't I see her at the Daihassei? Yeah! I saw her near some food stalls with Misa...)

The misfortunate boy froze.

"I think... I've made a blunder..."

"What is that supposed to mean!?"

Mikoto asked in anger.

"Um... Kamijou...?"

A voice brought Kamijou back to reality. He turned to see Aiko looking at him bashfully.

"Yeah... what is it Aiko?"

The girl in question refused to look him in the eye, fidgeting in place.

"W-were going to get going..."

"Oh, I see. Well...both of you, have a safe trip back."

Kamijou did a slight bow.

The mother smiled at the boy's politeness, bowing to him as well.

"Come on Aiko, let's go home."

With a weird expression on the girl's face, she reluctantly complied with her mother.

"He really wasn't expecting a reward! So manly!"

Sogita exclaimed.

"Yeah... he really just does it to see other people happy..."

Saten finished, a soft smile on her face.

They began walking in the opposite direction of the park, heading back towards the street, this time hand in hand.

Kamijou watched their retreating figures for just a little longer before he too began to turn around.

"Well... I better get home too. With any luck, I'll only get slightly attacked by Index. Haha... what am I saying. This Kamijou doesn't have any."

"..."

"H-he rarely leaves me with enough food! I get really hungry!"

Index hurriedly says.

With his school bag once again resting over his shoulder, Kamijou lightly hummed as he made his way home.

Patter!

Patter!

Patter!

Patter!

The boy stopped abruptly as a distinctive sound came from behind him. The telltale sign of soft footsteps echoed on the pavement of the now relatively quiet park.

"Huh? What the-guh!

Kamijou turned around just as a pink blur collided with his chest, and a pair of petite arms wrapped around his back.

Somehow managing to stay upright, Kamijou brought his head down to see brown hair and... one familiar frog.

"Wha! Aiko...? What's the matter!?"

"Annddddd here we go. I thought her actions were suspicious. I guess it would be too much to ask for her not to be slightly attached to him after doing what he did."

Aogami said with a knowing tone.

Kamijou looked at the girl who had her head buried in his chest. Confused, Kamijou looked towards the mom instead. The woman just had her hands on her hips, with a ghost of a smirk on her face.

"... ank you...ind ...me"

"Sorry, I didn't quite catch that."

"Huh?"

No one understood what the girl had said.

A deep breath was heard from Aiko, and then...

"Thank you. For ... being kind to me..."

"...!"

Kamijou did not say anything for a while. Until...

A smile.

"Are you kidding, that's what I should be thanking you for."

The girls' hearts warmed at the scene. Even Accelerator cracked a smile.

"Guh... this is all so wishy washy..."

Mugino scoffed lightly at the screen, but she didn't curse this time.

Kamijou placed a hand over the back of the girl's head, proceeding to pet it gently.

"See you later Aiko."

A girl smiled in the depths of the boys warmth.

Birdway began to blush faintly for some reason.

"What's this... is the big bad cabal leader imagining it was her instead~?"

Lessar said teasingly.

"Wha! A-as if!"

"Do you have something to say Tsuchimikado? Clearly your not going to deny the look of happiness on that girl's face right? Just admit it, Headpats1 are way better than Handholding!"

Aogami berated his friend with a smug expression.

"Shut up..."

Was all the boy could reply with.

15 minutes Later...

The boy with the spiky black hair was ascending inside his dorm elevator. His school bag at his side, Kamijou Touma was recounting through his day. Specifically, the words he shared with the girl he had met.

Words that impacted him more than he cared to admit.

The strap supporting his bag strained in pressure from the tightly clenched fist.

Many were confused with such a sight. As the boy's mood was happy just a few minutes before.

"You don't have to be so selfless Kamijou. You... can choose to be selfish if you want... no one... no one would hold it against you."

"Sorry but..."

A deep shaky breath.

"...?"

Worry began to take hold of those who were watching. As if they knew that this was serious. As if they knew that something was wrong enough to plague the heart of that carefree boy.

"That's not..."

Kamijou Touma frowned.

"I can't take what was never mine to begin with. I can't take what was rightfully his. Not Kamijou Touma's."

...

The elevator doors eventually opened.

A boy came walking out smiling. Humming and smiling like nothing was wrong. And thus, he kept moving forward, despite the heavy burden that would never go away.

[Scene End]

Silence.

Then confusion, and after that anxiety.

What did it mean? Why was he like that? What was burdening him? Why? Why? Why?

A quiet gasp was heard. It was Index.

"So... that's what this was about... his... memories."

She said faintly.

"Huh? Yeah, were watching his... oh..."

Mikoto retorted the obvious statement, but widened her eyes as she began to understand.

The boy had lost his memories. Everything prior to July 28th was gone and would never come back.

Everyone was reminded of that simple fact. What they were told by the voice still echoed into their heads. However, that wasn't nearly as important right now.

"What does he mean, he can't take what was not his...?"

Itsuwa asked softly.

Everyone had so many questions. Questions that just words alone wouldn't be able to satisfy. But one thing was clear. Kamijou Touma didn't deserve to suffer in the dark. He didn't deserve to be cast aside. For all the good things that the boy had done, all the people he's saved without asking for anything in return, he deserved the chance to be happy.

And even if he thought that his memories and misfortune prevented him from attaining that happiness, then...

He would just have to rely on the people that cared for him more than he could ever know.

So, they continued to watch. To understand the boy who deserved to smile like everyone else.

[Next Scene: Would you jump into the depths of hell for me...?]

I haven't done an original work in a while, so I really don't know if this chapter is any good. Please let me know what you think. And... if I don't got the skills to do original chapters anymore, then so be it. This is just my selfishness as the author.

Anyway, funnily enough, I wasn't planning on adding Tsuchimikado, Aogami, and Sogita. It was only after I realized that Kamijou would be 'infecting' yet another female with his disease. And for the parents looking over your shoulder right now, ITS OKAY! THIS IS A NON M RATED FIC. Ahem, I felt that if I didn't add those morons, it would be a wasted opportunity.

My original idea was to have Aogami use his never disclosed powers to bullshit his way into the 'room'. And then Tsuchimikado would use some sort of 'spatial magic (Yeah, I watch anime, so I know what I'm talking about) to teleport there. And it would work because he would be strong enough to do it with his healing ability. But all of that would have been really broken so I decided not to.

Oh! I am really sorry about Sogita guys. I just... don't have enough of an image of him to write proper reactions. I need to do some more research. Hey, did you know his English VA in Railgun T is the same as Hajime Nagumo from Arifureta. I feel like that's perfect for him.

One more thing, Kamijou's self deprecating lines was inspired by someone else's story. I won't deny credit when it's due. Thanks Mr. Question Mark and his story 'A Certain Unknown Level Zero'.

That's it from me, hopefully you get what the next chapter is from the prompt.

Please review.

Hope you all have an awesome day.
