Chapter 1
Back in Black
At the Hideout
The place was lively as it always was. Especially now that the group in charge were away, all the little hooligans had that much more freedom to do as they pleased.
"Alright everyone!" Rufus shouted to the teenagers around him, "Today is no sober Monday, so if anyone is caught not being severely fucked up you'll be kicked out!" He said laughing.
Everyone cheered and proceeded to get wasted.
Rufus then sat on the chair that Billy kept around and chugged a beer.
"Uh Rufus?" One of the younger kids asked, "Don't you think the guys will be mad when they find out we've overdoing it with the drinks and pot?"
Rufus chuckled, "They've been gone for months, they're probably never coming back" he downs his drink.
Suddenly the front metal sealed door broke open alerting everyone.
Rufus almost choked on his beer, "The hell was that?" He ran to the entrance along with everyone else.
They hurried to the front to find a beefy 7 foot tall person chewing something in their mouth.
Rufus gulped, "Hey Jon" he said like a wimp.
Jon spat on the ground, "Are they back yet?"
Rufus looked at the brown spit on the ground, 'Chewing tobacco?' "Uh no, you're the first one back"
Jon grunted and walked past him without caring about what was going on.
Rufus exhaled in relief, "Resume festivities!" Everyone went back to what they were doing.
A few days later a girl arrived on horseback.
She tied up her horse and stroked its head, "Good to be back right?"
The horse whinnied.
The girl rubbed the horses stomach, "I know Arty, it's been a long ride" she took a carrot out of her bag and fed the horse.
The girl closed her eyes and focused, "Hmm, only two of them"
She heard a loud thud in the ground not too far away so she went to investigate.
Jon had brought a bunch of metal beams, an old train car, thick metal wires, and lots of more things that would be considered junk.
"What's with the collection?"
Jon turned around and smiled awkwardly, "Hey Lily, I'm trying to put together a gym for myself"
Lily nodded and then took a step to the right as a yellow blur whizzed by her.
"WOOO! THE FAST MAN IS BACK!" Billy shouted in excitement, he was wearing a yellow Hawaiian shirt, shorts, and sunglasses.
"Oh great" Jon groaned.
"Damn man you've been roidind or what?" Billy asked Jon, noticing how swollen his body has gotten.
Jon was visually irritated, the one person he was not looking forward to seeing.
Billy gasped as he looked at Lily, "Yes!" He zipped over to her and embraced her, "Oh my god a real woman!" He sounded so emotional, like he was about to cry.
Lily raised an eyebrow, "Are you ok?"
Billy sniffed her, "You even smell good, I don't ever wanna see any old ladies again"
Lily and Jon had no idea what he was talking about.
"Something tells me our speedy friend here didn't have a good time with his master" they heard above them.
They all looked up and spotted Tim sitting on the edge of the roof.
Lily smiled, "When did you get here?"
Tim jumped off, flipped in the air, and landed gracefully, "Just now. Seems like the only one who's missing is our fearless leader"
Jon crossed his arms, "It's just like him to be the last one too"
"Well whenever he gets here, we'll be here waiting" Lily said looking forward to the entire group being together again.
On the road
A person rode their chopper on the highway with their headphones in, listening to "Back In Black" by ACDC.
[Back in black, I hit the sack
I've been too long I'm glad to be back
Yes, I'm let loose
From the noose
That's kept me hanging about
I've been looking at the sky 'Cause it's gettin' me high
Forget the hearse 'cause I never die
I got nine lives, Cat's eyes
Abusin' every one of them and running wild]
In the distance the town of Bayville could be seen.
The person smirked and took the next exit.
Rogue was working at the gas station. Lately Clay had occasionally let her work in the shop whenever they were shorthanded but at the moment she was pumping gas.
Rogue sighed, it had gotten so boring around here lately, or more accurately since Dean left.
He hasn't stayed in contact with anyone, not even Jean. No one knows if he's ok or when he'll be back, that boy always has everyone worried.
A chopper rode in and stopped by one of the pumps.
Rogue stared at the guy that got off his bike. His bike was all scratched up so it wasn't recognizable. He wore a white T-shirt and black jeans.
He was facing the other way when he took his helmet off. She could tell he was a little taller than who she hoped he was and he had a beard.
Rogue approached his bike as he stretched out, "How much you need mister?"
He turned around and faced her with a perplexed look, "What happened no warm greeting?"
Rogue was confused.
He took off his sunglasses and smiled.
Rogue's eyes widened before she practically tackled him, "You're back!"
Dean laughed, "Nice to see you too"
Rogue gave him a closer look, "You got taller" she ran her gloved fingers through his hair which was longer now, "You grew out your hair, and you have a beard"
Dean scratched his beard, it was still a little patchy but it had grown quite thick, "Yeah I let it go for a while but I'm gonna go back to my regular look. Is everyone else at the institute?"
"No, everyone's at Jean's soccer game. Except for all the new recruits" Rogue said.
Dean tilted his head, "New recruits?"
At the Institute
On the mansion grounds, a girl with bright brown hair in pigtails and a green shirt ran to catch a frisbee.
She couldn't reach it so she morphed into a wolf, jumped and caught the frisbee in her mouth.
Rahne Sinclair aka Wolfsbane, possesses the ability to transform into a wolf or into a transitional state somewhere between human and wolf that is similar to a werewolf.
Nearby, sitting on a bench was Amara, princess of Nova Roma aka Magma wearing regular clothing, and Jubilation Lee aka Jubilee, She can generate pyrotechnic energy blasts from her hands that resemble fireworks.
They were talking while a brown skinned young man walked by them and did a handstand to get their attention.
The girls giggled at him.
The boy flipped onto his feet, transformed into his solar form which was pitch black and covered in an orange flame like aura, and leapt into the air.
Roberto da Costa aka Sunspot. Has the ability to absorb solar energy and convert it for use as physical strength. He is also able to create thermal updrafts for flight, project heat and light, as well as concussive blasts of solar energy.
He managed to fly for a second before he lost control and knocked into a younger boy who was eating an apple.
Roberto returned to normal before looking up in surprise at the younger boy who had 3 clones of him around that looked exactly the same.
Jamie Madrox aka Multiple, has the power to create perfect copies of himself.
Not too far away a baseball flew through the air and a young man ran to catch it.
Bobby Drake aka Iceman, He has the ability to manipulate ice and cold by freezing water vapor around him. This allows him to freeze objects, as well as turn his body into ice.
Bobby stopped by the fountain and made an ice slide.
The baseball slid on the ice and flew back into Bobby's hands before he threw it back.
Another young man with blonde hair ran after the ball but couldn't catch up to it so he blasted off into the air and caught before he rammed right through a brick wall.
Samuel Guthrie aka Cannonball, has the ability to fly at jet speeds while encased in an impenetrable force field.
By the patio area a blonde girl with short hair has a devious smirk.
Tabitha Smith aka Boom-Boom, has the ability to create variably-sized yellow orbs and spheres of pure plasma that explode like bombs.
Tabitha flicks one of her spheres like a marble at two guys that were talking and exploded.
The two boys looked irritated at the girls prank.
One boy with blonde hair that was dyed orange, Ray Carter aka Berzeker. Has the ability to harness electricity.
And the other boy with long blonde hair was Alex Summers aka Havok, Scott's brother.
Alex powered up a plasma blast in his fist while Ray charged up an electric shock.
Tabitha laughed at them before dodging some projectiles.
Logan and Charles were watching from upstairs.
"So those are the new recruits" Logan said having recently returned, "Hmm, looks like we got our hands full"
Charles nodded, "Yes, a spirited bunch, but good kids. Though I'm afraid it's going to be even more difficult this term to keep a lid on things, and to maintain our anonymity"
All the newbies started throwing projectiles all over the place making a mess.
A massive fireball flew upwards and just narrowly missed the two of them, "Whoa, not to mention our buildings. We're definitely gonna need more instructors, and maybe a couple of tanks"
Logan sighed as he walked away, "I miss when bolt boy was all the trouble we had to worry about" he made his way outside where all the teenagers were still playing around, "Knock it off!" He shouted.
All of them stopped
All of them stopped in place.
"Since you got so much energy it's time I introduce you to the danger room, everyone get suited up and down there pronto" Logan ordered.
The new mutants groaned and did as he asked.
Amara forgot her book outside so she ran back to get it.
Dean walked up the mansion grounds.
Amara eyes narrowed as she stared at him.
Dean spotted her, "Hey princess"
That confirmed Amara's suspicion. She ran over to him and got down to one knee, "You have returned" she said with excitement.
Dean rolled his eyes, "Stop that get up" he helped her up, "You can wave, shake my hand, nod, tap me on the back, hug me even, never kneel or bow. Please stop doing that" he asked her as nicely as he could.
Amara nodded, "Ok"
Dean then gave her a tight hug, "Good"
Amara blushed.
"Ok I gotta go" Dean hurried to go shave and shower.
Tabitha and Jubilee walk out of their rooms in uniform.
"Amara said that guy Dean came back" Tabitha said pulling her glove on.
"You mean Jean's boyfriend? You know no one ever really talks about him" Jubilee realized.
"Yeah I know right? I haven't seen any pictures of him, I wonder if he's cute" Tabitha said.
The door to the bathroom in front of them opened letting out steam and Dean walked out, just wearing blue jeans, freshly shaven and his hair was back to its usual length.
Dean was holding his towel and his bronze sword in one hand while he felt his face and head. He turned to the young ladies next to him, "Does this look like an even cut to you? I've never cut my hair before"
The two girls stared at the marvelous site in front of them. A wet, glistening, perfectly sculpted demigod that took away their ability to speak.
Dean waved his hand in front of them, "You guys ok?"
Amara walked into them after changing into her uniform. Her eyes widened when she looked at Dean and her entire face turned red.
Then she changed into her lava form and left in a hurry.
Logan came looking for the girls and held his nose in disgust, "Oh come on, YOU!" He pointed at Dean, "You have to wear a shirt at all times, it's bad enough this house is filled with hormonal teenagers now you gotta bring it out of them that much more?! And you! You should have been downstairs 10 minutes ago move it!" Logan shouted at the girls that ran off.
He then sighed and looked at Dean, "How've you been kid?"
"Nice to see you too old man" Dean pat him on the back with a smirk.
Logan gave him an odd look, "Why did you bring your sword to the bathroom?"
"Regular razors haven't been working so I tried celestial bronze, works a lot better" Dean admitted.
Logan shrugged, "Come visit the danger room when you get a chance I wanna see what you've learned" he went to go instruct the new mutants.
Dean got fully dressed before visiting the Professor. He knocked on his door out of formality.
"Come in" Charles said.
Dean entered.
"Ah, you've finally returned" Charles said happy to see him, "You've missed the first few weeks of school"
Dean took a seat, "Yeah I know, there was a lot to learn, and still plenty more"
Charles nodded, "Anything interesting happen?"
Dean chuckled, "A lot. But I'll save the story telling for when everyone's together. Is the soccer game still going on?"
Charles checked with his mind, "Should be almost done, you might make it if you leave now"
"I'll see you later then prof" Dean hurried to catch the game.
At Bayville High
The majority of the school had gathered to watch the girls soccer team.
15 seconds left on the clock and both teams were tied 4 to 4.
The enemy team tried to pass the ball back and forth to keep it away from them.
As the ball was passed it flew over their heads.
Taryn managed to headbutt it towards Jean in a last ditch attempt to give it to her.
Jean handled the ball with finesse and maneuvered her way around the center.
"And with seven seconds to go the ball's passed to Bayville High star striker Jean Gray!" The announcer said.
"All right Jean! Go for the goal!" Scott cheered who was sitting with everyone from the institute.
Jean ran at her top speed and maneuvered around several players that were in her path.
"All the way Jean!" Scott cheered on.
When Jean got close enough she kicked the ball to the top right corner where it just managed to get in.
"She shoots and it's good!" The announcer said, "And that's the game as Bayville aces the semi-finals"
"Yeah!"
"Alright!"
Jeans teammates cheered her on.
"Nice look there superstar!" Kurt cheered.
"Yeah Jean that's what I'm talking about" Evan said as they made their way to the field.
Jean and the rest of her team came to the bleachers to join in on the celebration.
Scott rushed to make his way through the crowd until he finally got to her, "Jean, you were fantas—"
"I think Ronaldo could learn a thing or two from you" Dean said interrupting Scott.
Jean gasped.
"Hey!" Kurt jumped on his back.
"Look who's back" Evan ruffled his hair while Kurt distracted him.
"Hey watch the hair!" Dean shook them off.
Jean ran over to him and leapt into his arms as she gave him a passionate kiss.
Scott frowned, great.
Kitty looked at her watch, "You've almost missed the whole first month of school, you're gonna have a lot of work to make up" she said with a little too much satisfaction.
Dean looked around, "Anyone else hear a fly buzzing around?"
Kitty rolled her eyes, "Very funny"
"I'm sure some interesting things happened where you were, you gotta tell us everything" Evan said looking forward to it.
"Yeah I'll fill everyone in when I get a chance" Dean said.
Scott approached them, "Hey" he said dryly.
"Have fun while I was gone?" Dean asked curiously.
"Lots of it" Scott said with a smirk.
'I bet you did' Dean thought as he glanced at Jean.
"Anyways, Jean we're taking off" Scott said referring to the rest of the group, "You riding or walking?"
"Oh that's ok, I think I'll give her a ride home" Dean said with a little satisfaction, "Maybe we'll even get lost along the way" he joked as they walked off.
"With you driving that's pretty much expected" Scott retorted.
Kurt and Kitty gave each other a look, back to this drama again.
Not long afterScott, Kurt, and Kitty were driving back through the city when they got caught in some traffic.
Scott was in his own world while the other two were listening to the radio.
"Get real, the Stone Ciphers? Their music is so last millennium" Kitty said.
Kurt shook his head, "Oh not true, they rock, big time! Tell her Scott"
Scott was caught up in his own thoughts that he didn't hear them.
"Scott?" Kitty asked and he still didn't answer, "Hello?"
"Huh?" Scott snapped out of it.
He heard a car honking behind him and coming fast.
"Whoa!" Scott moved to the other lane so the other guy could pass.
"Hey, what's his hurry?" Kurt asked.
A bunch of police cars drove after him blasting their sirens.
"I don't know, maybe it's the 12 police cars on his tail" Kitty said sarcastically, "Just a hunch"
Kurt unbuckled his seat belt and stood up to see.
The car that was being chased ran through an intersection forcing a school bus to come to a halting stop under the highway.
The car then took the highway entrance, driving around, but when he got up there he found police cars blocking his path.
The man in the car took a hard left and rammed right through the railing.
It's base was sitting on the edge of the highway tilting back and forth above the school bus.
Scott got up from his seat, "Oh no" they got out of the car.
"We've got to do something" Kurt insisted.
"No!" Scott stopped him, "There's too many news cameras"
The car slid a little more forward.
"But what about those kids?" Kitty asked.
The car then began to fall off completely.
"Kurt!" Scott alerted him to move.
"I'm on it!" Kurt teleported the man in the car out of it.
Then Scott lowered his glasses and fired a weak optic blast to knock the car away from the bus as it fell.
Kurt left the guy next to the trashed car and ported out.
The guy backed away in shock, having no idea how he got out.
Police officers then handcuffed him, "Hold it right there!"
Scott and Kitty moved away from the crowd before anyone saw them. Kurt teleported next to them before Kitty grabbed them both and phased through the wall behind them.
Dean and Jean walked and caught up.
Jean had mostly been quiet and left her boyfriend to do the talking, but after a while her silence was noticeable.
"What's up with you?" Dean asked.
"Nothing, why?" Jean replied.
"You're disturbingly quiet. Ever since you changed and we started walking you've just been staring at me with this distant look" Dean said trying his best not to get frustrated with her, he just got back after all.
"You look…different, something's changed" Jean said getting strange vibes from her telepathy, "I can feel this presence coming from you…I don't know exactly what to make of it"
Dean stared at his open palm and it looked like it was steaming for a moment, "A lot has changed, and it's far from over. But that doesn't change the fact that I'm gonna try my best to work on us"
"That's what I wanna hear" Jean said with a tiny smile.
"Ok we should head back" Dean said.
"Good idea, where did you park?" Jean asked.
"I left the bike at the shop, it needed some bodywork" Dean said.
"So we're walking home?" Jean asked sounding surprised.
Dean smirked, "Not exactly" Lightning sparked in his eyes.
Back at the Institute
Charles was in his study when Ororo walked in with a strange look on her face.
"Is something wrong Storm?" Charles asked.
"Yes, I think you may find this interesting" Ororo said as she walked in. She turned on the TV to the local news.
"Eye witness accounts are conflicting but all agree that the falling car was somehow deflected by this strange red flash, its source is still a mystery." They played a video of a car falling and a red beam hit the vehicle saving the school bus full of kids.
"Scott" Charles knew immediately.
Dean skidded to a halt with Jean in his arms.
Jean's hair was a poofy mess and she was trembling, "Please never do that again"
Dean sighed and let her down, "I forget you're not an adrenaline junky like me"
Jean shook her head, "No. I. Am. Not" she hurried inside.
Dean scratched the back of his head, "Sorry" he followed her in.
Scott then came back with Kitty and Kurt.
They exited the car and cautiously walked towards the entrance.
"Maybe we better not mention what happened to anyone, you think?" Kurt asked.
"Well we could just keep quiet about it for a while, like say forever" Kitty exaggerated.
They notice The Professor, Logan and Storm waiting for them at the entrance looking stern.
"Or we could blame it all on Kurt" Kitty suggested.
"Hey!" Kurt said.
"The thing that really gets me is that I hesitated" Scott said speaking with Charles privately, "I was so worried about anyone seeing me that I almost acted too late, and why? I mean helping others and saving lives should be the most important thing we do with our powers"
"Scott I know this is a confusing issue, yes helping others is the right thing to do but we must also try to remain anonymous, at least for the present" Charles urged him.
"It's like we're hiding in shame, what's the harm in letting people know?" Scott asked.
"Because many of these same people are simply not ready to embrace the fact that mutants walk the earth" Charles tried his best to explain, "Look Scott, I'm not blaming you for what you did, in fact I'd have done the same thing in your place. I'm just saying you need to do what you can, without revealing what you are"
Scott sighed, "I don't know Professor, I'm having a hard time with this one" He walked out with his head down.
Dean made his way to the observation room above the danger room and found Logan simulating a training session for all the new mutants.
Dean gazed below and spotted them doing…let's be honest they were doing terrible compared to the X-men.
They were going through the same team exercise Dean had gone through the first time he trained with the X-men.
"Not as good as you hoped?" Dean could practically read his thoughts.
"Not even close" Logan said sounding disappointed, "But they're no longer worthless"
"I guess not everyone can have the x-men battle instinct" Dean joked.
Logan smiled at that remark, "Alright well it seems they've had enough for one day" Logan said as he made his way downstairs. Dean followed out of curiosity.
The doors opened and they spotted all of the new mutants looking like they've been through hell.
'Was it really that bad?' Dean thought.
"Well for your first time you managed to last an hour in this simulation. Maybe next time we can move to a level 2 simulation" Logan said hoping they'd do better next time.
'That was level 1?' Dean thought.
He and the x-men were able to take on level 5 comfortably.
Dean kept quiet as Logan moved on to point out everyone's flaws. The main one being that everyone listened to Bobby and scattered leaving them alone and able to be picked off one by one when they should have stuck together as a team.
"Now get cleaned up and ready for dinner and remember early night curfew for those that have school tomorrow" Logan said.
All of them groaned as they marched slowly out of the Danger room.
Tabitha walked up to Dean before going with the others, "Hey handsome, maybe you can show me a thing or two in the danger room" she said flashing her eyelashes at him.
Dean smiled at her attempt to get his attention, "Some other time" he said before going to speak with Logan.
After getting changed the group all headed up to the mansion where upon the elevator opening Scott was passing by.
"Hey I heard you guys lasted a whole hour, congratulations"
It is then Jubilee snapped grabbing Scott by his shirt and pulling him down so they were eye to eye, "That man is a maniac and I am going to be in pain for a week so save your congratulations leader boy!" Jubilee then stomped off leaving a slightly flustered Scott standing there.
"It's a good thing you didn't mention to her that we have daily sessions" Bobby tiredly quipped before he headed off with a slight limp.
Forge had stayed in the Danger Room to handle repairs with Logan while Dean waited patiently with Kurt keeping him company.
"All in all they didn't cause that much damage" Forge admitted as they finished up.
"Yeah" Logan put a panel back in its place, "Compared to the mess I make this is nothing"
Dean chuckled, "I can make a bigger mess than you old man"
Logan turned around with a serious look, "You think you're hot shit now kid?"
Dean cracked his knuckles, "Come find out"
Logan stood right in front of the confident teen, "Alright kid, let's see what you learned"
"Well this will be interesting" Forge said wondering how trashed the Danger Room is gonna get now.
"Ya no kidding!" Kurt said excited, "I have to tell the others!" Kurt teleported upstairs and ran in the lounge area where most of the X-men were hanging out.
"Dean is fighting Logan!" Kurt said before teleporting back.
Everyone ran for the elevator to get downstairs.
Logan charged and threw an overhand right to test the boy.
Dean reacted by throwing a punch as well and their fists collided. The force behind his punch was enough to match Logans and stop it without any effect.
Logan noted that he had definitely improved physically just from that one move. He continued by testing his speed and skill with quick punches and kicks.
Dean kept a calm demeanor and moved fluidly to either block or dodge all of the attacks.
'His style has changed' Logan mentally noted, 'It's far less aggressive' he continued to attack.
Everyone had finally made their way downstairs into the observation room.
"Jeez they wasted no time" Kurt said watching them go at it.
"Are you surprised?" Rogue asked.
Logan went for a heavy right kick that would have been too strong to block successfully so Dean jumped up to avoid it.
Logan decided to continue his assault and followed him by jumping up as well.
The duo began to trade punches midair since it was harder to dodge.
As they fell back down the two struck each other simultaneously and were sent flying backward.
They both landed safely, unaffected by any hits either of them took, ready to resume at a moment's notice.
'He doesn't seem phased at all' Logan noted as well, 'Let's see how far his durability goes' he charged at him again and the fight continued.
"It looks like Dean's gotten better" Jean noted how much her boyfriend has improved since his first spar with Logan.
"Oh yeah he got way better" Evan said judging by how he's not having his ass handed to him this time around.
"But he's still not using his claws" Scott reminded them, a fight with Logan is totally different when he's trying to skewer you.
Rogue observed the son of Zeus carefully, precisely his technique and body language. Apart from the occasional punch he was mostly on the defensive, constantly reacting to whatever Logan did. And he seemed so relaxed, not rigid or tense like he mostly was before. It was a complete change in character, like it wasn't even him.
Bobby looked confused, "Why is he just punching?"
Rahne nodded, "Yeah, What's his power?"
The X-men looked at each other with unease, how do you explain to people what a demigod is without being laughed at or being considered insane?
Amara was preoccupied with watching Dean's every move to assist in any way.
"The Professor will fill the rest of you in on our wild card here" Scott said.
Logan and Dean locked hands and they pushed against each other.
Try as Logan did, the boy didn't budge.
Logan then tried his trick and pulled him in but Dean was prepared so he kicked Logan in the stomach sending him flying back.
Logan quickly recovered after he skidded to a halt and rushed in again.
As Logan was about to strike Dean leapt over him, safely avoiding the attack.
Logan ran to where Dean was about to land and went for a leg sweep.
Dean shifted mid air so he would land on his palms instead, letting Logan's sweep miss.
Logan then followed that by using the momentum of the sweep to spin around for a powerful right hook.
Dean landed on his hands and used his knee to block the attack before rolling onto his feet.
The two stared each other down for a few seconds before smiling.
"You did get a little better" Logan admitted emphasizing on the little.
Dean raised an eyebrow in amusement and charged at his hairy opponent.
Logan smirked, he was hoping to get a reaction from him.
Dean started with a simple 1-2 combination that Logan found all too easy to block, followed by a speedy flurry of punches that were too rapid to keep up with, which began from his midsection all the way to his face.
Logan took a few steps back from the force of the hits which took him by surprise.
Jean's eyes narrowed, "Did anyone else see that?"
"See what?" Kitty asked.
Jean checked something on the monitor, "Is there like a gas leak or something" the monitor said it didn't detect anything, "That's strange"
"You want me to slow it down for you?" Dean asked with a smirk.
Logan regained his bearings, "No need" he raised his hands in preparation.
Dean threw a couple of punches and kicks to test Logan's defenses and he dodged or blocked all of them.
He then threw a heavy left hook and Logan managed to maneuver around it and take advantage by hitting him with a right cross.
Dean replied with a knee to his gut that knocked the wind out of him.
Logan then grabbed his head, and head-butted Dean, his adamantium skull ringing like a gong.
Dean was forced to take a few steps back from the force of that hit.
Logan went to push on with his attack but Dean reacted quickly and slid underneath him, trying to grab his legs.
Logan hopped over Dean to escape his grasp.
Dean cane right back and grappled Logan from behind him.
Logan reversed the situation and tried to get Dean in a full nelson.
Dean then reversed and tried to get him in a head lock. The two constantly reversed the situation trying to out wrestle and out maneuver the other.
Finally Logan had enough and elbowed Dean in the face as hard as he could.
Dean tried not to leave himself wide open for an attack so he leaped back to give himself some space.
The two stand there not even short of breath.
Logan sighed, "You've definitely become more persistent"
Dean cracked his neck, "I'm just getting started old man"
"No but seriously, if you still think you can beat me you're in for a rude awakening" Logan said bending his knees.
Dean looked skeptical, "But I've been keeping up with you the whole time?"
"I never said I was trying my best" Logan said as he closed the distance between them in mere milliseconds and elbowed Dean hard knocking him on his ass.
Logan then went to punch Dean but he moved out of the way letting his fist hit the ground.
Dean got back up and Logan continued his attack by slowly picking apart the teen's defenses, not letting him have a second to breathe.
Dean went for a high kick but Logan ducked underneath it and swept Dean's legs from under him resulting in him falling on his back.
Logan's onslaught did not end there as he began to pound away at Dean.
Dean put his hands up to block the hits before grabbing one of Logan's arms and threw him away trying to get some breathing space.
Dean got back on his feet and stared down his once instructor, "You're not gonna to make this one easy for me are you?"
Logan stared back trying to read him, "Would you really want me too? I doubt it" he said knowing full well what he would say, "Anybody who hopes to beat me in a fight better ask for a miracle first"
"Yeah you are a challenge" Dean admitted that much, which seemed weird.
"I hate to say it kid, but we both know I'm going to win" Logan said confident in his abilities, "I ain't bragging, it's just a fact. Your body is slower than mine, and I recover faster than you can damage me. That's gonna cost you the match"
"I appreciate your concern, but I think I'm going to continue" Dean said sharing his own confidence in his abilities.
"Alright it's time to end this, ready?" Logan said readying himself.
"Just gimme a sec" Dean said going to fix his waist.
Logan looked skeptical and shrugged.
Dean lifted his shirt revealing the gravity belt Forge built for him set to 5x.
"Wait a sec, what's that?" Logan asked about the belt.
Forge looked closely at recognized his own contraption, "No way….."
"What is it Forge?" Kitty asked.
"He…..he….." Forge couldn't seem to get the words out of his mouth.
"Oh this little thing? This is the portable gravity device Forge made for me before I left" Dean said.
Logan looked concerned as he saw the number and came to his own conclusion. He was moving around like normal, no even better than before, and all that was under the effects of the belt.
"I use to struggle to keep it active for an hour or two, but my teacher convinced me to leave it on all the time so my body could adapt faster" Dean said giving credit to his new teacher, "I haven't turned it off in months. At first it was agonizing, but over time I got used to it" he slowly turned the dial to 0 and felt the change in his body.
Dean closed his eyes and savored the moment, slowly breathing in and out, feeling every muscle in his body react to the change.
Logan prepared for whatever was about to come.
Dean opened his eyes with a small spark in them. One second he was there, the next his fist was buried in Logan's stomach.
Logan's eyes bulged and he grasped his stomach as he took a step back. It felt like his innards had exploded from the impact and turned to jello, leaving nothing but his skeleton to keep him together. Which is why a few seconds later he dropped face first.
"Oh shit" Alex said in shock, "Looks like you were wrong bro"
Scott frowned and stayed silent.
"Let's go check on them" Jean said going downstairs and the rest of them followed her.
Dean knelt and rolled Logan onto his back, "You ok?"
Logan groaned as he sat up, "I should have known you'd train like crazy over there"
Dean shrugged, "Didn't have much else to do"
The others came down.
"Everything ok?" Scott asked.
"Yeah" Logan got back up and noticed all the teenagers were staring, "I don't remember inviting everyone for a show, get back upstairs"
They sighed and did as he asked.
Logan then gazed at Dean with a glint of pride, "You did good kid" and then the pride faded, "But next time" he extended his claws on one hand and showed them to him, "I'll be fighting dirty"
Dean smiled, "Looking forward to it"
Author's Note: Welcome back true believers! I've had some time to plan everything out for Part 2 which should make it easier to pump out chapters. Not sure how often but whenever they're ready you'll see them pop up. Hope you enjoy the read, please review!
