Hi everyone. I hope you enjoyed the first chapter. While I did say that most of the cards will be ones that are official. I will make V-series versions of over cards and some new order cards. Anyway on to chapter 2.

Chapter 2: Little girl with giant robots

Jaune entered Card Capital. It had been a day since he started vanguard. Thankfully the booster box he bought had another copy of Altmile. After looking up deck ideas as well as looking up possible combos he was able to start making his own deck. He walked up to the counter where Ozpin was sitting "Ah, Mr Arc. How are you today?" Ozpin said to him with a smile.

"It's going well. I've started making my own deck but I need more cards. Can I buy another booster box? Oh, and a deck case as well" Ozpin nodded and pulled out another box "Of course. That'll be 6000 yen" Jaune nodded and paid using his card before sitting down at a table and began opening the box.

He found some useful Royal Paladin cards but unfortunately no Altmile. He suddenly felt someone staring at him and turned seeing a girl 2 years younger than him with black and red hair and silver eyes right behind him. Jaune yelped making the girl jump back. "S-Sorry! I was just curious about what you pulled" Jaune relaxed "It's alright. I'm Jaune Arc" The girl nodded at him "Nice to meet you. I'm Ruby Rose"

Ruby sat down at the opposite side of him "Did you get any Nova Grappler stuff?" Jaune nodded and sorted out the Nova Grappler cards he got from this box and the box he bought yesterday and handed them to her. Ruby began shuffling through the cards before settling on one card "No way! Exxtreme Battler, Victor?! I've been looking for another copy of this card! Can you please trade it?" She began looking at him with puppy dog eyes

Jaune raised an eyebrow "trade?" Ozpin cleared his throat, making the two look at him "If you have a card that you don't need but someone else does you can trade the card. There's always a chance they have a card that you need" Jaune looked at Ruby "Do you have any Royal Paladin stuff from this set?" Ruby nodded and pulled out a folder before going to a random page "This is the Royal Paladin stuff that I got in this set" Jaune looked through the page until he saw an Altmile "Can you trade the Altmile for the card" Ruby nodded and the two traded cards before making changes to their decks

"Do you want to have a game?" Jaune looked nervous "I-I don't know…. I only started yesterday" Ruby tilted her head as Ozpin spoke up again "I recommend you play Mr Arc. The only way to grow as a fighter is to play against different people" Jaune thought about it before agreeing

The two placed down their starting vanguard and their gifts before shuffling their decks and drawing 5 cards. Jaune put back 3 cards and drew the same amount before shuffling. Ruby put back the same amount. They both nodded at each other before shouting "Stand Up! Vanguard!"

"Extreme Battler, Runbhol!" Ruby became an orange robot head with arms and legs

"Shining Knight, Millius!" Jaune's new starting vanguard took the form of a kid wearing blue armour.

Ruby looked at Jaune "You can go first" Jaune nodded and drew a card "I ride Lunar Crescent Knight, Felax!" Jaune's vanguard changed into a black-haired man wearing white and blue armour wielding a blue sword

"Oh my gosh! That armour and sword are so cool" Ruby began fangirling, which on Cray looked weird as a Robot head was gushing. Ruby realised what she was doing and stopped before coughing "Sorry. I just like the weapons on the artwork" Jaune slowly nodded before continuing "Due to Millius's skill, I draw a card and add an Order: Quick Shield to my hand" Jaune drew a card then added a card from the bottom of the pile across from his deck to his hand. "I'll end my turn here"

Ruby nodded and drew a card "I ride Extreme Battler, Arashid" Ruby's vanguard became a large green robot wielding a sword

"With Runbhol's skill, I draw a card and add an Order: Quick Fist to my hand" Jaune raised an eyebrow "Quick Fist?" Ozpin spoke up "It's an order card that is used by Accel clans. It can be used when attacking and gives the attacking unit an additional 5000 power" Jaune nodded at the information as Ruby continued "I attack your vanguard with Arashid!" Jaune looked at his hand before nodding at her "No guard" Ruby turned the top card of her deck over "Draw trigger! I give the effects to my vanguard" Jaune looked at the draw trigger. It was named Twin Blader. But what really got Jaune's attention was the shield. It was a perfect guard

"Wait. A draw trigger perfect guard?" Ruby nodded at his outburst "Yeah. Every clan has one. You just have to be lucky in packs" Jaune turned over the top card of his deck, revealing a Squire Knight Allen "no trigger" He places the card in his damage zone. Ruby smiled at him "That ends my turn"

Jaune nodded and began his turn "Stand and draw. I ride Absolute Blade Knight, Livarot" Jaune's vanguard changed into a red-haired man wearing white and blue armour while wielding two laser swords in each hand.

"Oh Wow! 4 laser swords!" Back on Cray, Livarot sweatdropped at the sight of a robot gushing over his weapons. Ozpin coughed to snap Ruby out of it as Jaune continued his turn "Livarot's skill! I can counterblast one and superior call a grade 2 from my deck. I call Knight of Silence Gallatin!" Ruby looked a little surprised as there seemed to be a small personality change in Jaune while Ozpin smiled as Jaune was getting more confident

Jaune placed the card on the left of his vanguard and began his attack. "Gallatin will attack your vanguard" Ruby looked at her hand for a moment before nodding "no guard" Gallatin appeared in front of the robot and slashed it, making Ruby wince. "Damage check, no trigger" Ruby's damage check was a grade 2 named Extreme Battler, Gunzork and she placed the card in the damage zone

Jaune turned his vanguard to the side "Now Livarot will attack" the blue and white knight jumped Ruby nodded before speaking "no guard" Jaune flipped over the top card of his deck "Drive check. No trigger" While it wasn't a trigger, Jaune gave a smile as the card was Altmile as Livarot slashed Arashid "Damage check. No trigger" Ruby's damage check was a grade 1 named Extreme Battler, Kendhol which she put in the damage zone.

Jaune nodded "Turn end" As they were playing there was group of people watching them

"Stand and draw" Ruby stood her unit and drew a card "I ride Extreme Battler, Gunzork. Then I call Extreme Battler, Sazanda and Extreme Battler, Kendhol" Ruby's vanguard became a black and white robot wearing a cloak while wielding dual pistols. To the robot's right a bulky blue robot appeared and a small orange robot appeared behind the vanguard

"Sazanda will attack your vanguard. His skill activates, when he attacks a vanguard while being unboosted he gains 5000 power and if his attack hits I get to draw a card" The blue robot began charging at the white and blue knight

Jaune places a card from his hand onto the guardian circle "Order: Quick Shield. Livarot gains 5000 power" Livarot raised his swords and blocked the robots charge

10000+5000=15000

Ruby pouted at her attack failing before turning her Vanguard to the side "Boosted by Kendhol, my vanguard attacks. Gunzork's skill! If he attacks while being boosted I can counterblast one and restand a rearguard!" The gun wielding robot readied its weapon as the blue robot stood back up

Jaune's eyes widened before replying "N-No guard!" Ruby nodded and flipped the top card of her deck "Drive check. No Trigger" Ruby said as her drive check revaled another Sazanda. The black and white robot fired it's gun, hitting Livarot in the shoulder "Damage check. No trigger" Jaune's damage check revealed a Blaster Blade which he put in the damage zone. Ruby then turned Sazanda sideways for another attack. "Sazanda attacks again. Skill, plus 5000 power. Order: Quick Fist! Sazanda gains another 5000 power" The blue robot began charging again

9000+5000+5000=19000

"I intercept with Gallatin" Just as the blue robot was near Livarot, the blind knight jumped between them and knocked it back before disappearing. Ruby pouted as Sazanda's attack was blocked twice before sighing "I end my turn"

Jaune gave a sigh of relief as he survived those attacks while only taking one damage "Stand and draw" Jaune stood his units and drew a card. He took a deep breath before having a look of determination on his face. "Let's go, The noble sword that guides us to the future! Ride the Vanguard! Blue Sky Knight, Altmile!" A flash of light covered Livarot and obscured the vision of the units on Cray. When the light died down, In the place of Livarot, was Altmile with Jaune's hair. Ruby looked to be holding another fangirling moment at Altmile's sword and armour

"Imaginary Gift: Force II" Jaune took the top card of the pile across his deck, which was a blue sideways force marker and placed it under his Vanguard "With this Altmile's critical becomes 2 during my turn. Now I activate Altmile's skill. I counterblast and discard a card to add 2 grade 2's to my hand" Jaune discarded the grade 3 Alfred Early and added the last two Livarots in his deck "I call Squire Knight, Allen! With his skill I can counterblast one to draw a card and call a card from my hand. I use his skill to call Livarot" the white armoured boy appeared behind Altmile as the red haired knight appeared to his right "Livarot's skill- " Jaune was stopped by Ruby "Wait, how can you use his skill? You don't have any face up damage?" Jaune smiled "If I have no face up cards in my damage zone, Livarot can activate his skill for a soulblast instead of counterblast" Ruby's eyes widened as Jaune removed a card from underneath his vanguard "I use Livarot's to call Gallatin"

The blind knight appeared to the left of Altmile "Altmile's second effect! If I have no face up cards in the damage zone he gains 15000 power" A white aura surrounded Altmile

13000+15000=28000

The surrounding crowd gave a cheer as Jaune began his attack "Gallatin will attack Sazanda" The blind knight charged towards the blue robot as Ruby shook her head "no guard" the knight slashed the robot, making it disappear. One of the people watching the match tilted his head "Why did he do that? He knows she has another one in her hand due to the drive check. Seems like a waste of an attack" Ozpin chimed in here "It's actually a smarter play than you think. By doing this Mr Arc ensures that Ms Rose will waste a card either protecting Sazanda or calling a new one to replace it and he won't have to deal with multiple ones unless she draws another one. Also, Sazanda's skill can be a pain to deal with, so making Ms Rose waste through them is a smart idea"

Jaune began his next attack "Boosted by Allen, Altmile attacks" Altmile jumped towards Gunzork as Ruby looked at her hand. The attack had a critical on it and she could nullify it…. She then then took a glance at her damage zone before deciding "No guard!" Jaune looked confused at the choice before starting the drive check "First check. No trigger. Second check. Draw trigger! Power to Livarot and I draw a card" Jaune's drive checks revealed a Felix and a Margal as Altmile slashed the black and white robot making Ruby wince.

"Damage check. First, no trigger. Second. No trigger" Ruby's damage check was a grade 3 named Extreme Leader Mu-sashi and another Arashid.

Ruby placed the cards in the damage zone as Jaune turned Livarot to the side "now Livarot will attack your vanguard" The red-haired knight dashed towards the robot and Ruby placed a card in the guardian circle "I guard with Shining Lady" A red-haired woman wearing a pink bodysuit with white armour pieces jumped between Livarot and Gunzork and blocked the knight's attack

Jaune frowned as the attack was blocked and Ruby put the guardian in the drop zone "Turn end"

Ruby nodded and began her turn "Stand and Draw" Ruby stood her units before drawing a card "All right! The ultimate robot that will grasp victory with its own hands! Ride! Exxtreme Battler, Victor!" Ruby slammed the card down on the vanguard circle as the ground on Cray began shaking as in place of Gunzork was a large orange and white robot was rising up from the ground while wielding a massive sword. The crowd gave a massive cheer as the fight was truly starting

"Imaginary Gift: Accel II!" Jaune raised an eyebrow "Accel?" Ruby nodded "When you ride a grade 3 in an accel deck you can choose Accel I or Accel II. They both give an additional rearguard circle in the front row. With Accel I the unit on the additional circle gets an additional 10000 power during your turn, Whereas Accel II only gives 5000 power but you get to draw a card when one is placed"

Jaune's eyes widened as Ruby took an orange sideways accel circle from the top of her pile and placed it above her deck before drawing a card "Now I call Sazanda, Extreme Battler Kenbeam, Gunzork and Arashid" To the left of Victor, the blue robot reappeared as the black and white robot appeared to the right of Victor with the green robot appeared behind Gunzork. On the additional rearguard circle a bulky purple robot appeared

Jaune gulped as another wave of attacks were coming "Sazanda attacks your vanguard. His skill, plus 5000 and I can draw if his attack hits" the blue robot began charging at Altmile

Jaune placed his draw trigger on the guardian circle "I guard with Margal" A red robotic dog jumped up and blocked the blue robots charge before disappearing. Ruby then turned the unit on the additional rearguard circle "I attack with Kenbeam. His skill, if he attacks while he's on an additional rearguard circle then I can counterblast one and restand a rearguard. I restand Sazanda" the purple robot began charging a laser while the blue robot stood up again.

Jaune grimaced "No guard" The purple robot fired its laser, hitting Altmile in the chest and making Jaune wince "Damage check. No trigger" Jaune's damage check revealed another Altmile, which he placed in the damage zone. Ruby nodded and turned Sazanda to the side again "Sazanda attacks your vanguard again. Skill" The robot began its charge again

9000+5000=14000

"I guard with Blaster Blade" The white armoured man appeared in front of Altmile and blocked the robot's charge with his sword before disappearing. Jaune placed the card in his drop zone as Ruby turned her last standing rearguard to the side "Boosted by Arashid, Gunzork attacks. His skill. I counterblast one to stand Sazanda. However, because he's not on the vanguard circle theirs no power boost" The black and white robot readied its guns as the blue robot stood up again

9000+8000=17000

Jaune placed a card in the guardian circle "I guard with Wingal" The black and white robot fired its gun but the shot was blocked by the blue dog with pink hair. Ruby pouted as another attack was blocked before turning her vanguard to the side "Here we go! Boosted by Kendhol, Victor attacks. Victors skill. I counterblast one and stand a unit on an additional rearguard circle and both Victor and the unit gain 5000 power. I stand Kenbeam" The large orange robot raised its sword over its head and prepared a downward swing as the purple robot stood up

12000+8000+5000=25000

Jaune placed another card down on the guardian circle "I nullify the attack withStrong Knight, Rounoria" The red-haired girl in white armour appeared and blocked Victors attack with her shield as Jaune discarded a card. Ruby nodded and put her hand on the top of her deck "Drive check. First, Critical trigger. I give all effects to Sazanda. Second, no trigger" Rubys drive checks revealed another Shining Lady and another Victor as the shield bearer pushed away Victor's sword before disappearing

Ruby quickly prepared her next attack "Kenbeam will attack Gallatin" The purple robot began charging its laser at the blind knight and jaune shook his head "No guard" The purple robot fired it's laser at the knight and made him disappear "Now Sazanda attacks your vanguard. Skill" The blue robot began its charge again

9000+5000+5000=19000

Jaune quickly placed a card on the guardian circle "Flogal will guard that attack" The pink dog appeared and blocked the robots charge. Ruby sighed before looking at Jaune "It's your move"

Jaune nodded and stopped for a second "You ever noticed that some guards seem kinda surreal" Ruby tilted her head "What do you mean?" Jaune gave a sheepish look "Well I was able to stop some of your massive robots…. With dogs" Ruby thought about this for a second before laughing "Yeah it is a little strange" Jaune laughed as well for a few seconds before starting his turn "Stand and draw. I call Another Allen and use his skill" The white armoured boy appeared to the left of the Allen behind Altmile as Jaune flipped over the only face up card in his damage zone and drew a card "I call Felix using Allens skill and I call my other Livarot" the black haired knight appeared again behind Livarot as another Livarot appeared to Altmiles left "Altmiles skill. That's 15000 power to him" Altmile was surrounded by a white aura again

13000+15000=28000

Jaune began his attack "Boosted by Allen, Livarot will attack Sazanda" The red-haired knight on the left dashed towards the blue robot

Ruby looked at her hand and sighed "No guard" The knight slashed the blue robot making it disappear. Ruby placed the card in her drop zone as Jaune turned his Vanguard sideways "Now Altmile will attack your vanguard" Altmile Jumped towards the large orange robot

28000+8000=36000

"No way! I nullify that attack with Twin Blader"A silver and blue robot appeared in between the two units and blocked Altmiles attack as Ruby discarded a card. Jaune frowned and turned the top card of his deck "Drive check. First, no trigger. Second, Critical trigger. I give all effects to Livarot" Jaune's drive checks revealed another Strong Knight, Rounoria and a Bringer of Good Luck, Epona

"Now Livarot attacks your Vanguard while being boosted by Felix. Felixs skill. I soulblast one and return a rearguard in another column in my hand to give him 5000 power" The other red-haired knight dashed towards Victor

10000+10000+8000+5000=33000

"I guard with Shining Lady and Kendhol" The woman wearing a pink skinsuit and the small orange robot appeared in front of Livarot and blocked his sword swing before disappearing. Jaune frowned as he wasn't able to deal any damage that turn before looking at Ruby "Turn end"

Ruby smiled and started her turn "I stand and draw. I ride another Victor" The large orange robot was surrounded by an orange glow for a moment before the glow died down "With this I get another Accel II" She placed another sideways Accel Marker next to the pile across from her deck. "With this I can draw another card. I call Kenbeam, Aura Baller and a Mu-sashi". To the right of Victor, another purple robot appeared with a green alien wearing wrestling attire appearing behind him. In the other additional rearguard circle a red and gold robot wielding two swords appeared

Ruby began her attack "Boosted by Aura Baller, Kenbeam attacks your vanguard" The purple robot aimed its laser at Altmile

9000+8000=17000

Jaune looked at his hand before nodding "No guard" the robot fired its laser and hit Altmile in the chest "Damage check. No trigger" Jaune's damage check revealed an Alfred Early which he put in the damage zone as Ruby began her next attack "Now my other Kenbeam attacks your vanguard. Skill, I can counterblast one and stand a rearguard. I stand my other Kenbeam. Aura Ballers skill. When a rearguard stands due to an effect I can soulblast one and countercharge. Its like I'm standing a rearguard for free" Ruby said with a large smile as the other bulky robot aimed its laser at Altmile

"I intercept with the left Livarot" The red-haired knight jumped in between the laser and deflected it before disappearing "Gunzork while being boosted by Arashid" The black and white robot raised its gun and fired

10000+8000=18000

"I guard with Allen" The white armoured boy appeared in front of Altmile and took the shot for him as Ruby started the next attack "Mu-sashi attacks your vanguard next with his skill I can move a rearguard to my soul to give him 10000 power" The red and gold Robot took a stance and charged towards Altmile as Ruby moved Aura Baller to the soul

12000+10000+5000=27000

Jaune quickly placed a card down on the vanguard circle "I guard with Epona" A girl wearing bulky blue armour while riding a large beetle appeared and took the attack before disappearing as Ruby turned her vanguard to the side "Now Victor attacks while being boosted by Kendhol. Victors skill, I stand Mu-sashi and give him and Victor 5000 power until the end of the turn" The large orange robot raised its sword, preparing to strike

12000+8000+5000=25000

"I nullify that attack with Rounoria" The white armoured girl appeared again and blocked the large sword with her shield "Twin drive. First, Critical trigger. I give all effects to Victor. Second, Draw trigger. I give all effect to Mu-sashi"

Jaune raised an eyebrow at Ruby giving a trigger to Victor until Ruby spoke up "Victors second skill. After he attacks a Vanguard if the total number of attacks this is 5 or more I can soulblast a grade 3 to restand Victor with Drive minus 1" Jaune's eyes widened as the large orange robot stood up once more as Ruby took out the copy of Victor from the soul "Kendhols skill. When a unit in the same colum as him restands due to an effect, he restands as well" The little orange robot behind Victor stood up as well "Now, boosted by Kendhol, Victor attacks your Vanguard again!" The large orange robot raised its sword again

12000+8000+10000+5000=35000

Critical:2

Jaune looked down as he couldn't block the attack "No guard…" Ruby nodded and checked the top card of her deck "Drive check. No trigger" Her drive check revealed another Aura Baller as the massive sword swung down and slammed right into Altmile "Damage check. First, No trigger. Second…. Not a heal trigger." Jaune's last two damage checks revealed another Blaster Blade and a Flogal. This put Jaune at 6 damage

"Hey. That was a great game" Ruby held out her hand and Jaune smiled while shaking her hand. The crowd began to disperse as the two put their cards back together. Ruby checked her watch before yelping "Oh my Gosh! I have to go now to catch the train. See ya later Jaune" Ruby quickly gathered her things before bolting out the door as Jaune meekly waved back.

After Ruby left Jaune walked to Ozpin "Even though I lost…. That was a fun game" Ozpin gave a small smile "That's what life is like. There are times we win and there are times we lose. As long as we learn from our losses then it wasn't for nothing" Jaune looked at him "Was there anything I did wrong in that game?" Ozpin nodded "A couple of rookie mistakes. But that's common for someone who only started yesterday. If you'd like I could help you improve and make deck suggestions" Jaune thought about this for a moment before nodding with a smile "I'd like that" Jaune took out a copy of Altmile in his deck and stared at it "We'll keep getting stronger…. Right?"
