Hey, what's up, guys! I'm here with a brand new fic for y'all! I wanted to try branching out with my stories a bit, but make sure to go read my first story, "Welcome to Earth Nexus." It's kinda unrelated, but trust me, it'll be important down the road.
This is something off a similar avenue but at the same time completely different. The whole "people accidentally ending up in a different universe/world" concept is my absolute favorite concept in any fanfic, especially when it's done well. So, I'll try to do it well for you guys :)
Please leave me reviews and tips and ideas and comments you guys might have, it'd be a really big help.
Mandatory Disclaimer: I do not own anything in this fanfiction.
Enjoy!
Barry had felt this before.
This weird, almost visceral feeling.
Like he was being ripped apart and stitched together at a million miles a minute.
He knew what it was.
And yet it was different.
An hour earlier…
"It's time for you to go, Thawne."
"You're too late, Flash," Eobard Thawne replies with an evil smile. "Nash is mine."
"Nash," Cisco breathes, eyes widening as he rushes to his fallen friend.
"Not yet, he isn't," Barry replies, clenching his jaw.
"Hey, hey," Cisco says to a defensive Nash. "It's Cisco."
"You came for me," Nash says in relief.
"Yeah, but you're the only one who can get yourself out of here, Nash," Cisco says.
"You want Nash, you're gonna have to go through me," Barry says, closing the distance between him and Thawne.
"Well, aren't you a glutton for punishment," Thawne says, smirking. "Always there to bear witness to the death of someone you're trying to desperately save."
"Well you're not gonna win this time," Barry says.
"I think I am," Thawne replies. He nods towards Nash. "Look at him."
"Okay, look, whatever's in there, I think you need to go face it," Cisco says, gesturing towards the glowing cave in front of them.
"No," Nash exclaims. "No, I can't go in there."
"He's weak," Thawne continues. "He's pathetic. He's limited by his emotions, just like you."
"He wants you to stay here," Cisco pleads with Nash, "the more you suffer the stronger he gets."
"No, no-"
"The prize is everything," comes the voice of Maya, Nash's late adoptive daughter, from the cave.
"Allegra's doppelganger," Cisco says in realization. "That's her, isn't it? She's in there."
"Maya," Nash says, pained. "Her name is Maya."
"In a few short moments, I'm gonna-" Thawne punches his hand for effect "-bust through Cisco's tachyon field, and then," Thawn laughs. "Then the fun's really gonna begin. All fueled by poor Nash's grief for his precious daughter. You know a few things about grief for a precious daughter, don't you?"
Barry steps toward Thawne, clenching his fist.
"You didn't make the most of your time with your daughter," Thawne pushes, antagonizing Barry. "I taught her everything I know while you sat by and did NOTHING," he says, shouting the last word.
"She just made a bad choice, that's all, she just made, a, a choice," Nash stutters.
"Nash."
"Her fault."
"Nash, listen to me," Cisco pleads with Nash again.
"She made a bad choice," he repeats.
"Listen to me!" Cisco shouts, grabbing Nash by the shoulders.
"NO! I cannot!" Nash exclaims angrily.
"If you don't go in that cave, you're gonna die."
"I CANNOT GO INTO THAT CAVE!" Nash screams.
"All you did was stifle her abilities," Thawne taunts Barry. "You were an awful father to her."
Barry takes a deep breath and relaxes his hand, eyes trained on Thawne. "I miss my daughter every day," he says, his voice laced with grief. "But I'm done letting that give you power over me." Barry smiles as Thawne's grin fades.
"I watched Cynthia die, and it hurt me in places I didn't even know I could feel pain," Cisco says to Nash. "But I couldn't avoid it. You can't heal if you avoid it."
"You think that Nash and I are limited by our emotions, but you're wrong," Barry continues. "They give us our strength. And we can use them to overcome anything. Including you. That's your greatest flaw, Thawne. Metas are the ones with limits, not people. Not me. And not Nash."
"You have to face that memory," Cisco tells Nash, putting his hand on his shoulder. "And when you do, I'll be here waiting for you."
Nash looks up to meet Cisco's eyes. "I promise," Cisco says.
Nash half-smiles at Cisco and stands to his feet. Thawne sees this and his face drops, but before he can do anything Nash steps into the cave.
"What did you do," Thawne grits his teeth. "WHAT DID YOU DO?" he repeats, shouting at Barry.
"I didn't do anything," Barry smiles. "I just let Cisco give Nash the jumpstart he needed."
Minutes later, Nash walks back out of the cave, having faced the memory of the death of his daughter. Cisco sees him and stands in concern. Nash stares back with grief-stricken eyes.
"It was my fault. She only did what I taught her to do. It was my fault," Nash says, his voice breaking as tears begin to come to his eyes. "It was my fault."
"Nash is taking control of his pain," Barry says.
"No."
"You can't feed off of him anymore," he continues.
"No!"
"It's over, Thawne," Barry says, stepping closer to him.
"NO!" Thawne begins to scream in pain. "NO!" he shouts, holding on to whatever strength he had left. "If I'm going to die, I'm taking you with me," he grins maniacally. "I'm taking ALL of you with me!" With that, he vanishes, his tachyons floating to the sky.
Barry and Cisco wake up in Star Labs, Nash screaming in unconsciousness as red lightning pulses all around him, destroying any object near it. They, along with Cecile West, hide as the lightning rages around them. It pulses up through the roof, passing through it and spreading to the sky, taking Thawne's tachyons with it. Barry gazes up at the sky as Nash wakes up, finally.
"Are you okay?" Cisco asks Nash, concerned.
"It was my fault," Nash says, crying into his hands. "It was all my fault."
About half an hour later…
"Status report," Cisco says, walking into the medbay and joining Barry and Caitlin, "Nash is physically fine, but emotionally destroyed, and Cisco is completely bushed," he says, flopping onto a mattress next to where Caitlin sat. Caitlin and Barry chuckle at this. Cisco sighs, brushing his hair out of his face and propping himself up.
"What do we do now?" he asks no one in particular.
"We can start by working on the artificial Speed Force," Barry answers with a grin.
"No, no," Cisco shouts, "no. After Thawne, that's too much."
"How did you guys get Thawne out of Nash's body, anyway?" Caitlin asks.
"It's simple, really," Cisco says, sitting up on the bed next to Caitlin. "Just hit 'im where he can't hit back."
"Cisco helped Nash take back control of his mind by facing his past and dealing with his emotions," Barry answers, chuckling.
"Exactly," Cisco adds. "Where he can't hit back."
"Is he gone?" Caitlin asks. "For good?"
"I doubt it," Barry answers. "His tachyons were only dispersed, not destroyed. And honestly, look how many times he's come back."
"He's like a friggin cat," Cisco chuckles. "I think we gotta beat him 3 more times before he disappears for good." The three chuckle.
"It's weird, though," Barry mumbles.
"Hm?" Caitlin cocks her head to the side inquisitively.
"No, just something Thawne said before he disappeared," Barry answers. "He said that if he's going to die, he's taking all of us with him."
"What does THAT mean?" Cisco asks.
"I don't know," Barry answers, frowning. "I've been trying to figure that out myself. I mean, what can he do?"
Upon saying this, STAR Labs rumbles as a lighting storm begins over them.
"You had to ask," Cisco deadpans as they rush to the cortex. "The hell's going on?"
"Well, there's a storm," Caitlin answers, gesturing at one of the screens. "And, surprise, surprise, the lightning's red."
"What is Thawne planning?" Barry wonders aloud. All of a sudden, lightning phases through the roof of the cortex, striking the three of them and making them disappear before they can scream. Elsewhere in the building, Nash is also struck, disappearing into thin air. The storm rages through Central City, somehow causing minimal panic and destruction as it strikes Ralph Dibny and Allegra Garcia, causing them to disappear right along with the rest of the team.

And yet it was different.
The rest of the team didn't know what was going on, but he had a pretty good idea. He opens his eyes, blinking in the sunlight. Next to him, he hears a groan and he quickly looks over, seeing Cisco next to him.
"Cisco, hey," he says, scrambling over to his friend. "Hey, you're okay, we're okay."
"What the frak happened?" Cisco groans, rubbing his temples.
"I, uh," Barry starts before Cisco interrupts.
"Wait, where's Caitlin?" Cisco shoots up in panic before falling back to the ground in pain as his head throbs. "Ow."
"I think we might be on another Earth," Barry answers.
"Wait, but how is that possible?" Cisco asks, confused. "They were all destroyed in Crisis."
"I know, but remember when Kara, Oliver, and I disappeared during the Dominator invasion?"
"Yeah and you guys ended up on some weird different Earth or something?"
"Yeah," Barry answers. "Whatever happened just now feels exactly the same as the time I disappeared three years ago."
"Huh," Cisco says, getting to his feet. "Well where the hell are we then?"
"I think we're in New York," Barry answers, picking up a newspaper off the floor of the alleyway. The newspaper was apparently published by the Daily Bugle, and it's headline read, "Avengers Destroy Lagos!"
"This newspaper says it's published in New York City," Barry says.
"Huh, well that's something," Cisco says.
"Who are the Avengers?" Barry wonders, reading the headline.
"I'm only gonna say this once," a voice says from behind them. "Put your hands behind your head and turn around, slowly."
