There he stood in darkness.
Kevin wasn't proud of what he was doing. Sneaking around in the darkness. He was a stalker tonight. Only tonight. He had sworn it would only be tonight. He just needed to see her. And so he watched her inside her house. Her milk white skin covered by a light blue wrap dress. Her long, light brown hair put up in a messy bun. Her hazel eyes focused on cooking dinner. She didn't know about a man watching from afar through her window.
There he stood swallowed by darkness. Never to be let into the light again.
There he stood in anger.
He was looking through one of her other windows. Movement had made him move his eyes from her to the other person. The red haired traitor. Former best friend Sami had moved in and healed the pieces of her broken heart. Sami hadn't cared about Kevin's broken heart. Only hers mattered. And Kevin knew Sami was right after the things Kevin had said and done throughout the relationship. Still it hurt. It hurt like nothing had ever hurt before.
There he stood swallowed by anger. Never to unclench his fists and become happy again.
There he stood in sorrow.
Heartbroken. Beaten down. Unloved. Alone. Not enough. Not anymore. She had moved on. He was to blame. He had hurt her in ways he was never supposed to. He had broken her heart long before she broke his. He sighed as he watched Sami move into the kitchen to join her. She smiled as a kiss was placed on her cheek. She was happy. She deserved to be happy. After everything Kevin put her through, he wanted to see her happy at last.
"I love you," he spoke lowly to himself. "I don't think I'll ever stop."
There he stood swallowed by sorrow. He only had himself to blame. He turned and walked away. Never to return. It was only this one time to make sure she was okay. She was more than okay. She was happy. She was loved. And he was left with nothing but a broken heart that would never heal.
Through the darkness, letting go of the anger, keeping the sorrow that he deserved to feel for the rest of his life. He walked away.
