Chapter: My Little Weasel

was inside the schoolhouse ringing her little bell, announcing it was lunchtime.

A certain little redhead was headed outside and towards the picnic tables. had just gone

over math and Jesse found he pretty much hated the subject. In the morning they had to read which

he very much enjoyed it. After lunch, they were going to be singing.

It felt weird having to introduce himself in front of the whole class.

Jesse looked around the picnic area looking for a seat. It was so embarrassing having to choose to sit

with random strangers. He saw a table at the far end that was closer to the woods. The Rabbit family

was there and a small opening was available at the very edge of the table. Nine bunnies were sitting

their fluffy tails all rowdy and excited. It was crowded but the young toon rather sit with others he

knew. Jesse gulped down his embarrassment and strode over with confidence. Whispers invaded his

ears, Jesse turned to look around he walked. Everyone was looking at him, well the girls that are. He

was getting self-conscious and made a mental note to tuck in his white long-white sleeved shirt later.

Two girls were giggling as they kept pointing at him. He noticed a few other groups doing similar

things like pointing and giggling.

'Girls are definitely weird' He thought. Jesse's navy blue jeans were slightly dragging on the ground.

Ignoring his classmates he got to the bench table and sat. The Rabbit family didn't even notice him

too involved in bickering who would get to trade with who. No one noticed Jesse until Sammy

Rabbit bumped his shoulder with him. Sammy's nose began to twitch rapidly at the nonrabbit.

"Oh sorry Jesse I didn't notice you"

Jesse liked that the Rabbit family didn't notice him. At least not as much as others did.

Jesse shrugged at his neighbor and proceeded to open his tin lunch box. The bunny's nose was all

over his lunch box. The ginger scooted away watching why his lunch box was being sniffed so

intensely.

"Whatcha got today Jess?"

No response.

He opened it up to see his metal beverage container, an apple, cornbread, and a tiny plate of sweet

potato.

Chatter at the table suddenly ceased. It was so quiet at his lunch table that Jesse tensed. Out of the

corner of his eye he looked to see what had happened. The whole lunch table was staring at him.

Well him and his lunch box that is. Everyone was silent until a certain white bunny popped behind

him jumping onto his back. The ginger's soul jumped out of his skin for a few seconds.

"Don't let these weasels trade anything with you Jesse!" His annoying white bunny said.

"Hey! You let him do what he wants!" A voice called out.

"Yea! You're not the boss!" another said. The loud chatter started once more as the siblings resumed

to bicker with one another.

"Get off Regina," Jesse said shyly.

The white bunny was off of his back in a jiffy and right beside him. Both her hands were next to his

left outer leg. She were a navy blue dress with white puffy sleeves. Her usual blue and yellow Polkadot bow was in her hair.

"Sorry Jesse but…" Regina leaned in the nose to nose with Jesse. The boy refused to budge. He had

to show Regina that he wasn't bothered despite his annoyance slowly growing.

"You're in my spot" Regina said matter a factly.

Realization settled in and Jesse's cheeks began to feel warm. He tried scooting closer to Sammy but

the bustling bunnies didn't budge. Obviously he had to move since it wasn't his spot. But Jesse really

didn't want to get off and have to go and find another seat. Having today be his first day at school

the young boy was too embarrassed. The thought of looking like a loser and an outcast to the rest of

his class made him feel awful. He kept silent and looked back at Regina with a pleading look. Maybe

she could think of something.

With a knowing smile, Regina understood immediately. To the boy's surprise, the bunny hopped onto

his lap!

The girl was hugging his neck so tightly that his bright red face soon turns blue. Jesse loosened her

grip. He honestly didn't know what to think of the situation. Violet giggled and Buster Rabbit was

pointing at them from across the table.

"Looks like Regina has a boyfriend" the grey kit laughed.

Jesse was dumbfounded. What was wrong with a guy friend?

Either way, he shot the gray rabbit a look. Buster instantly stopped and paled as words were caught

in his throat. The kit gulped and looked away. The rest of the Rabbit family were chattering and

eating away at there lunch. The ginger honestly doesn't care if Regina was on his lap or not. It was

just meant he was saved by not having to go sit somewhere else. Fur was starting to tickle his nose as

Reina got settled on his left leg and was opening her brown paper bag. Jesse peeked over her

shoulder to see what she had. A peach rolled out along with two carrots and a small radish.

Looking around the lunch table again he saw that everyone had raw vegetables for lunch. Slices of

cabbage, leaves of spinach, lettuce, blueberries, and other colorful foods were being munched away

at. Reaching for his apple he was gonna bite when Regina looked back at him. He froze with his mouth open and the apple an inch away from his mouth.

"Want to trade that with my peach?" she asked shyly.

Jesse thought for a moment. Looking at Regina's bright blue eyes made his hand automatically hand

over his apple. The kit smiled showing off that one tooth she had in the front. He gave a lopsided

smile as Regina put the peach in his right hand. Regina bit into his apple and he couldn't help but

notice how different it looked when he ate and she ate. Bunnies left a deep single line. He wondered

how strong bunny teeth were.

"I guess you're the weasel," he said quietly for only Regina to hear.

He laughed at the embarrassed look she gave as she put her hand over her head in shame.

Jesse bit into the peach and juice trickled down his chin.

School was pretty sweet he grinned.
