Hey, how is it going? Sorry if you expected 'Different worlds' to be updated, it will be done soon, just…sigh…Screw it. I am not going to act all cheerful here. The matter with coronavirus is annoying as hell, I had to deal with some idiots on YouTube and on top of all that, I…sigh. You know what? You can just read it and see what I mean. This will be a three shot, maybe two depending on some things. Everything will be explained when the fanfic ends.

I do not own anything.

Chapter 1: Tell me why.

You take me to the edge.

How many times was it now?

He was sitting in front of four beds, all of them in a hospital. His team was with him, both Ren and Nora putting a hand on his shoulders as he looked at the four beds and the four people in them. He sat on a seat as he then took the hand of the red one and caressed it. Tears in his eyes as he put his head in his hand, his aura glowing as he tried to heal her. Off to the side on a table there were four cases, one of which had a hole in it, like it was run through with a sword. The others that were with him had looks of sadness or anger with some looking down on the floor, he could even feel glares of absolute hared from some of them.

How many more years until everything ends?

She opened her eyes slightly and he looked up as he felt her hand hold his. He heard her groan slightly and he had a small smile as did his team as they looked at her slowly recovering face.

"Ruby." He whispered as he kept healing her, his aura was depleting fast as he also had three more tubes attached to the other three to heal them as well, but he didn't care for it. Instead, he held her hand with both of his and she looked at him and gave a weak smile at him. Those behind him smiled as well, tears in their eyes as the other three began to stir.

How much more can they take?

His scroll buzzed suddenly and he took it out to see what it was, his eyes widening in surprise and horror as he saw the news. Ruby's eyes widened as she held his hand tighter, tears appearing in her eyes as her skin paled. The other three coughed out blood as their bodies started to slowly, very slowly decay.

"Please no." Was all Ruby said as the heart monitor beeped frantically as Jaune, in desperation poured as much of his aura as he could into her and the others, but alas…

BEEEEEP!

Her heart monitor flat lined and the light her eyes slowly dimmed, her hand fell limp and out of his grasp, the other three were limp with their eyes dull and lifeless.

How much more does he have to suffer?

He could feel tears streaming down his face. He could hear Ren's gasp as the black haired man gasped and grasped his chest and heard him fall to the ground. He could hear Nora scream in terror as she tried to help him. Yet he could also fell the others in the room. He could hear them crying, screaming and turned to look at them and flinched at the looks that most of them gave him.

What did he do to earn all of that hatred?

He carried Ren to another room as Nora was crying from his side, ignoring all of their looks and simply pushing through doors.

"Doctor! Someone! My brother needs help!" He screamed as he desperately looked for any doctor or nurse to help him save his friend. He was all out of aura, as the doctor arrived to take Ren and put him on a stretcher and carried him to a different room. Nora was leaning on a wall, crying her eyes out, he went to hug her as she looked at him.

And froze as he saw her dull eyes, no light in them as she seemingly turned gray and colorless.

Why did they blame him for what happened?

He was at his sister's house, taking another big gulp from Death Stalker, its 96% alcoholic content numbing him from all the grief he experienced, packs of used cigars lay around him with another one in his hand. His sword and shield were at the sofa but he ignored it. His sister and her wife gave him looks of pity, his nephew tried to cheer him up but eventually started crying as he felt the empty feeling that his uncle was giving off. He took a drag from his cigar and exhaled as his throat and lungs felt like they were burning, his aura doing its best to heal him.

Why is he the one hated more than others?

You push me too far.

He was at the place of the funeral, his hands shaking as he considered leaving, but eventually opened the door. Entering the building, he saw the others and the four different colored coffins. He flinched though as he felt everyone look at him and tried not to look at them, but he could still feel their looks aimed at him.

He could feel Oscar's and Ozpin's glares.

"Haven't you ruined it enough?" They asked him and he clenched his fist at that.

He heard Qrow's snort of contempt.

"So much for a good guy." The drunk said as he took another gulp from his flask.

He could feel Winter's and Whitley's icy gazes as well as Willow's look of anger.

"What more do you want?" Winter snarked at him and he flinched at that.

Taiyang Xiao Long was glaring at him with hate from his place, his eyes red as several tears could be seen falling down his cheeks.

"Had enough of playing 'hero' you bastard?" the widow and father asked as a tear slid from his won eye as he kept walking.

He looked to the side and saw Ghira giving him a hard stare while Kali looked at him in pity, both parents had tears in their eyes.

"Come to give another stupid joke 'Miles'?" Ghira growled at him and he had a look of anger at the name.

"Perhaps you should leave." Kali told him with an edge in her voice and Jaune felt even worse.

He clenched his fists as he saw Raven giving him a look of disgust from her place, the normally strong woman looked emotionally vulnerable, her hand at her sword ready to cut him up.

"You dare show your face here 'Luna'?" His blue eyes flashed in anger as he heard that and barely held himself from snapping at the coward, deadbeat mother. He glared at her in return and saw her roll her eyes as he looked away and kept walking towards the coffins.

Once he was close, he saw RWBY's bodies, all of them wearing black, their weapons next to their coffins. He had tears in his eyes as he placed a hand on Ruby's coffin. Memories of better times, when they were just students fighting Grimm and generally being reckless, until the catastrophe happened and everything changed.

He felt a hand on his shoulder and saw Penny, Maria and a few others look at him in sympathy, with many not understanding what the family members said.

"I am sorry."

He heard their cries of pain and anguish as the four coffins were lowered and the graves were refilled. He clenched his fists as bloody tears dropped from his eyes, Penny had oily tears come out as Maria bowed her head in respect with the others following suit.

"I am so sorry."

He was the only one left when the others chose to go home with tears in their eyes, but not before giving him looks of hatred with some punching him in the face, he didn't bother resisting and simply accepted them, knowing they would not listen.

He heard a laugh and turned around, frowning as he saw who it was.

"How does it feel to know you ruined it all 'hero'?" Mercury remarked at him while giving him a smug grin.

"Seems like we didn't need to do anything to win." Emerald said as she twirled a coin and gave him a mocking smile.

"I was surprised that you even got her as a partner, but I guess I shouldn't be, knowing what you are." Cinder told him condescendingly and he had the urge to run her through with his sword.

"What did I do?"

"Awww, does the little knight look angry? Perhaps we should give him his Pumpkin Pete sweater to cry to." Tyrian cackled as some of the villains chuckled at that.

"I have seen a lot of disgusting things in my life as a scientist, but you are perhaps the worst of them all." Watts told him with a look of superiority as Hazel grumbled from the side.

"Disgusting is an understatement, he is less than nothing." The man said as some in the group burst out laughing at that as he walked past them, to visit Nora and Ren. Salem looked at him and gave him a twisted, grateful smile.

"I thank you for this, young one." She said and he stopped and looked up at her with a hateful glare "If it weren't for you, we would not be standing here, assured of our victory over Ozma. Perhaps I should have waited until everything fell apart rather than send Cinder to the, clearly you do much worse to them than we ever could." his hand went to his sword's handle as she said that and she smirked at that.

"Thank you for all of this, Jaune 'Miles Luna' Arc."

CLICK! SQUELCH!

He swung his sword into her head, splitting it apart as her blood spurted around…

"AAARGGHH!" He swung again and cut her upper body vertically in half, panting as her blood tainted his suit. He heard a chuckle as his sword was pulled out and her body was healed with no signs of scars or anything to show any injury, the other villains smiled at him mockingly as Salem walked past him, they followed her. Jaune gave a glare to each of them and they ignored him.

You watch me slip away.

Why did this happen?

He held his head in his hands as he saw the doctor pull the blanket over Ren's body, a dagger on his chest, his sanity cracking as yet another person was lost.

Why is he the one who keeps suffering?

A cry of anguish and despair was heard throughout the asylum as Jaune knelt in front of a window, his fists pounding the ground, his aura glowing as tears streamed down his face. The lightning flashed…

Showing Nora's body lying on the floor, a bottle of poison was next to her. A bloody message on the wall:

'Together-together'

He kept crying as he grasped her cold hand, his sanity shattered completely.

I'm holding on too hard.

He stood in a building in Kuroyuri, a picture of his team and team RWBY in his hands, his eyes dull and gray. His stance relaxed as he threw away his sword as he heard whispers in his head.

'Look at what he did.'

'He is the worst.'

'What's wrong Jauney-boy?'

'Get lost Arc.'

'He made her fight for him? How pathetic.'

'Is this all that you are? Really?'

'Perhaps I shouldn't have chosen you as her protector.'

He heard the whispers and took another gulp from his bottle of Death Stalker, his throat burning from the alcohol as a cigar was on his hand as the whispers changed but were now worse.

'Pathetic self-insert.'

'And you are supposed to be the underdog? What a joke.'

'Weakling cunt.'

'Why didn't they kill you off?'

'He gets away with too much.'

'A fucking terrorist is better than you.'

'Just die already, you waste of time.'

His mind and sanity lost, his anchors to life all dead, his self-worth shattered beyond salvation and his purpose is all but naught. Then the whispers stopped and an all new voice appeared.

'Do it.'

The dreadful voice said in his mind as he felt his last bits of humanity disappear. He dropped the bottle, letting the alcohol spill and took out another one before pouring its content all over himself, the pictures dropped to the floor and Crocea Mors lay on the ground beside him. He took out a small glowing red crystal.

'Do iT.'

He dropped the Fire Dust on the floor, it burst into fire, igniting the alcohol and spreading all over the building. The fire spread to his jeans, he couldn't feel the pain. Only numbness. He took a look at the red sash on his waist holding it tightly as the fires spread to his arms and began burning the cloth.

'LeT gO.'

He stared at it for a moment before he dropped it and watched it be consumed by flames. The pictures were burned as are his clothes. He turned off his aura and let himself be burned by the flames.

Yet as he stood there, he remembered everything that led to this moment-

And smiled.

'Free yourself.'
