This little project is basically a writing exercise I'm sharing with you.
One of my favorite books in recent memory is a book called Everyday History by Alice Archer. The character in that book enjoys hearing the history of everyday objects. For example, he asks a friend about a hammock that he finds hanging in his apartment. The friend tells him a story about his parents getting divorced, but taking a vacation as a family that year anyway. Everyone in the family bought a hammock when they were on vacation in Tahiti. They continued to take family vacations together even though both Mom and Dad married again. If you know the history of an object, you know something about the person who owns that object. It's a lovely book, and I loved the idea.
I asked people in my group to provide me with objects, and I would write about the history of that object. It's a project meant to get the words flowing (because you know I've had problems with that over the past year).
I want to share these stories with you and invite you to leave other objects for me to write about. There's a post pinned to the top of my group, or you can feel free to respond to chapter 1 with your own ideas.
