A/N: Good morning. :) I think you'll be happy to know that the latest story is a rewrite of Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix. See, the reason thus story exists is because a story from 18 years ago called "Our Destiny" by TheKeyBearer was made, but never finished. He deserves the credit for that as much as bconfer368. Me? I'm just finishing what he started, or at least, that's my way of doing it. And I'm also adding an OC named Rose, who is Sora's older sister (again, bconfer368's idea). Feel free to read it and see what you think.
Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix
Prologue: The Dream
I've been having these weird thoughts lately. Like is any of this real or not?

A boy named Sora was in the water, drifting around and seeing a big light at the top the water. He floated up to where he saw the light and found himself at the shore of the beach and looked at his surroundings. Frankly, Sora had to cover his arm to shield his eyes from the sun before spotting Riku over in the water, which was up to Riku's knees before Sora came towards him and backed down to see the water going in his shoes. Suddenly, however, a big wave started coming up in front of Riku, who just turned around and looked at Sora, his hand held out, leaving Sora no other choice but to run towards him. Unfortunately, the wave sent them both under water. Sora looked at Riku to see him still holding his hand out towards him and tried to swim to him, but the current was too strong, drifting Sora away from Riku and taking him back up to the surface. Once resurfacing, Sora shook his head to get the water off and then saw Kairi in the distance at the shore. She waved to him as Sora waved back to her and began running towards her. Once he got up to her, Sora knelt down and made a happy face, giving Kairi joy as she laughed at it. Soon after, Kairi noticed something falling from the air before Sora noticed it as well. After it got closer, they found out that it was him! Before Sora knew it, he was starting to fall away from Kairi. She yelled out to him, but it was too little, too late as Sora began falling down in the sky and seeing the sun before he saw himself drifting in water again. He sank until he reached the bottom with only a blue translucent light from above in the distance. After taking one step, a bright light appeared and birds began flying away from all sides. As Sora looked up at the birds, he noticed that he was now on a small circle with a nicely dressed woman on it.
🎵When you walk away
You don't hear me say please
Oh baby, don't go
Simple and clean is the way that you're making me feel tonight
It's hard to let it go
You're giving me too many things
Lately you're all I need
You smiled at me and said
The daily things
(like this and that and what, what)
That keep us all busy
Are confusing me
That's when you came to me and said
Don't get me wrong I love you
But does that mean I have to meet your father?
When we are older you'll understand
What I meant when I said no
I don't think life is quite that simple
When you walk away
You don't hear me say please
Oh baby, don't go
Simple and clean is the way that you're making me feel tonight
It's hard to let it go
Hold me
Whatever lies beyond this morning
Is a little later on
Regardless of warnings, the future doesn't scare me at all
Nothing's like before
When you walk away
You don't hear me say please
Oh baby, don't go
Simple and clean is the way that you're making me feel tonight
It's hard to let it go🎵

Darkness surrounded everywhere except the ground. Then, Sora began to hear a voice in his head.
So much to do, so little time... Take your time. Don't be afraid. The door is still shut. Now, step forward. Can you do it?
The boy wasn't exactly sure what it was about, but he had to listen to what the weird voice had to say anyway as he looked around before noticing that a gray square-like shape appeared. It held one weapon at the top, a shield.
Power sleeps within you.
Then another came up with a staff.
If you give it form...
And another one appeared with a sword on the top.
It will give you strength. Choose well.
He looked at the sword and decided to choose it as he walked toward the square and stepped on top near the sword since it typically represents strength in certain aspects.
The power of the warrior. Invincible courage. A sword of terrible destruction. Is this the power you seek?
Sora nodded in agreement and then waited for what would happen next before the sword disappeared.
Your path is set. Now, what will you give up in exchange?
Sora looked at the two remaining weapons and then went over to the staff.
The power of the mystic. Inner strength. A staff of wonder and ruin. You give up this power?
Sora again nodded and awaited to see what would happen before the staff disappeared.
You've chosen the power of the warrior. You've given up the power of the mystic. Is this the form you choose?
Then, Sora nodded in reply before noticing who appeared to be Kairi descending downwards near the same spot as Sora on the same platform before landing next to him. Then, the gray holders of the weapons sunk half way into the ground as green sparks lifted up before they disappeared and Sora was left on the glass ground with Kairi. Then it began to shatter, causing Sora and Kairi to fall down with the broken glass. For a moment, they could only see black around them before another glass circle came into view with another woman on the glass circle as the two landed on it.
Then a bright light went around Sora and Kairi's hands and formed into the sword that he had chosen for both Sora and Kairi.
You've gained the power to fight.
Sora then took a swing with the sword to see what would happen
All right! You've got it. Use this power to protect yourself and others.
Then a shadow creature came out of the ground.
There will be times you have to fight.
Another creature emerged from the ground.
Keep your light burning strong.
Then, the shadow creatures began to attack Sora and Kairi before they each attacked one and destroyed them as they quickly faded into a black mist and disappeared before the rest disappeared. Then, one of the creatures moved behind Sora and re-emerged.
Behind you!
Then, Sora attacked it to see others like it come, turned to face them, and began attacking the creatures with until they were all gone. After defeating them, he and Kairi sunk into the ground and found themselves on another floor. A bizarre door was the first thing they saw, although it looked like the color was fading, so he and Kairi ran toward it and examined it.
"I can't open it...", Sora spoke aloud.
Then Sora and Kairi turned around to notice a treasure chest just lying on the ground. The former opened opened it but found nothing inside before a big box appeared and he pushed it a bit and then attacked it to find a potion inside. Then, the door glowed for a second as a barrel appeared before Sora picked it up and then threw it down. After that, the door's faint color became bright, allowing Sora and Kairi to run toward it before it began to open as a bluish white color came out of the door. Sora and Kairi stepped inside it and found themselves back home, where their three friends Tidus, Wakka, and Selphie stood.
Hold on. The door won't open just yet. First, tell me more about yourself.
Then, Sora walked up to Selphie.
"What's most important to you?", Selphie asked, smiling.
Sora gave friendship as his answer.
"Is friendship such a big deal?", Selphie asked.
Then, he walked up to Tidus.
"What are you afraid of?", Tidus asked.
Sora stated that being indecisive is what he is afraid of.
"Being indecisive? Is that really so scary?", Tidus asked.
Sora then walked away from him and walked up to Wakka.
"What do you want outta life?", Wakka asked.
Of course, for Sora, it was to see rare sights, so he gave the answer.
"To see rare sights, huh?", Wakka spoke in interest.
Then, the same voice from earlier filled Sora's head again.
You want friendship. You're afraid of being indecisive. You want to see rare sights. Your adventure begins at midday. Keep a steady pace and you'll come through fine. The day you will open the door is both far off and very near.
Then, his surroundings turned white as he and Kairi found themselves on another glass floor with darkness around everywhere before nine creatures appeared and surrounded them. Naturally, the two fought them off one by one as many attacked me and only a couple of them hit. Eventually, though, the two defeated them all.
Then, a bright light up in the sky lit up on the ground and then moved forward before making an array of colorful stairs appear, allowing Sora and Kairi to climb up said stairs to see what would be up there. Yet again, they saw a glass floor with a woman on it and ran to the center of the circle.
The closer you get to the light, the greater your shadow becomes.
Then, they looked at Sora's shadow to see that it got even bigger right before into a giant shadow creature. Sora and Kairi backed away, hoping it would disappear.
But don't be afraid. And don't forget...
Then, Sora and Kairi turned and ran to the end of the glass. The former almost fell down as he soon realized that he couldn't run while Kairi managed to pull him back to safety. The two children had to face it. The creature this time around was black and had no stomach. Instead, it had a heart shape carved in the center, covering almost the whole thing. Its yellow eyes stared at them furiously.
The first thing it did was slam its hand down on the ground, thus creating a sort of dark portal on the ground as the previous creatures soon came out from under the ground. While Kairi fought the creatures below, Sora quickly climbed up its arm and began to attack its head before it soon lifted its arm in pain, causing Sora to fall down to the ground, wondering what would happen next.
Since he couldn't exactly attack it at the moment, he began to help Kairi attack the creatures it summoned. There were only about three, so by now, they were easy to defeat. Then it landed on it's knees and began to send dark purple and dark black blasts flying around. After a couple of hits, the two managed to reflect one blast each back at the goliath with one strike. Soon after, it began to summon more creatures, allowing Sora to use this opportunity to attack its head. Then Sora and Kairi's weapons suddenly disappeared before they jumped back and landed on the ground backwards, leaving them defenseless. Then the darkness clung onto their legs and encroached on them still before eventually covering them completely.
But don't be afraid.
You hold the mightiest weapon of all.
So don't forget...
You are the one who will open the door.
A/N: So, what did you think so far? Pretty unexpected, right? We'll get to the main cast in a moment. :)
