Green Lantern Odette Dupree: First Flight Chapter 1

One of Odette's least favorite parts of her workday is when the owner of the club Big Mike is dividing her hard-earned tips, taking his cut among other things.

"So minus 40% is $287. Minus $160-," counted Big Mike.

"It's always been $130," said Odette, quietly.

Smugly, Big Mike said "Yeah it is, but you got in late after five, didn't you?"

Big Mike then hands her what's left over. A measly $140. It's about to turn even less. Big Mike then demands extra payment for the "protection" fee he has for all the strippers that work here. Now Odette is down to $120.

Her foster parents Phil and Dorothea are gonna kill her when they see how little she made tonight. Her tips are usually much higher. And I mean much, much, much higher. So similar to any other job there are days that sucked. This one really hit the can.

But other days Odette can really reel in a gigantic payday. Odette grants plenty of credit that the reason behind this combines with her general age and beautiful, gorgeous, and natural body shape.

Normally these things got her a lot of clients, but this came at a cost. Like any chance of having a good relationship with the other strippers there. They're a bit envious of her and the fact that Odette can possibly make more money than they do. When she first began working here Odette instantly became ostracized, none of them stepping forward to mentor her. So Odette was left to learn the rules of he game all on her very own.

Good thing she's a fast learner with spot on observational skills. Being a quick study paid off in spades here although there are cons to her line of work.

Like having to deal with all the perverted men who enter the club that want a piece of her.

Don't worry dear Odette knows multiple on how to get around them without having to do too much work according to everything she's seen.

The main thing is to get them to where they're drunk enough to get their credit card, but sober enough to sign the check and keep dishing out tips. The key to getting them to that point is knowing who you're dealing with, then string them along without getting physical.

According to Odette after what she can tell there were three tiers of men who repeatedly step foot at this establishment. The guys at the bottom of the totem poll, they don't do anything dirty to make money. So most of them don't have any. But if they do you can milk them for every penny they have. The guys in the middle, they'll get their hands a little dirty. But they have their limits. They dabble in greed. But they never cross a certain line. Or maybe they're not as good at it. But then there's the assholes up top. CEO's, CFO's, investment bankers, corporate raiders, hedge funders, ax murderers. Coming straight from the crime scene into the club. But not through the front. These guys don't want to be written about on page six. Especially in the company of an underage stripper. That's a one way ticket to jail right there with a no return policy. These scumbags come through the back. They take a private elevator to the one room in the joint without cameras. And they don't leave till they spend $10,000, $15,000 in one night. These are the clients that Odette repeatedly aims for each night. Sure can be degrading, aggressive, possessive, violent. And they never get in any trouble. Because everyone's willing to cover their tracks. Somewhere deep down they all want what they got. They all want to be on top where there are no consequences. You're just another deal to them and that's all they are to you. It's business and a more honest transaction than anything else they did that day. Need to play them at their level. That's all there is to it.

When facing any of these categories Odette is required to always watch her back. She's well that a majority of these customers are well aware that she's underage, but there's no chance they'll acknowledge it. There's no chance that they will and face the consequences that come with facing it out loud.

Even considering all the risks she's taking Odette is willing to face them if it means one day escaping.

Under her foster family's nose Odette had set up her own back account the moment she first started working at the club. On nights that were really good she tricks her foster parents into believing she gave them all her earnings when in fact she was depositing most of it into savings for the future. You see they never actually know the type of doe she's racking in.

All the better for Odette.

After all it's not Odette's dream to be a stripper her whole life. She wants to do more with her life once she is 18.

Odette has always aspired to be a performer on an authentic stage. Ever since she was little and saw the movie Swan Princess where the main character shares her name is got her interested in the ballet Swan Lake. A professional is what she wants to be, not an exotic performer. This is just one step to getting there. A benefit to all this is all the repetitive exercise has left her body in pretty good condition with plenty of muscle.

As long as the plan stays on track she'll get there to her fresh start.

It's really late by the time Odette heads home. What doesn't help is that Odette has to take two subways and walk ten blocks until she gets to the house. By the time she did it was well passed midnight.

Just her like that Phil was still awake at this hour. Planted in front of the television with a beer like he always is. As per usual he forces her to fork over the money she made that night. No use fighting him on such a miniscule amount. Got to keep up appearances.

Odette is so freaking tired. All she wants is to turn in and go to sleep. So thankful that she already completed all her schoolwork before her shift.

Odette marks down another day on her calendar, approaching the time when she will be free.

No need to be sour and bitter about it. One day life will get better and improve…right?

Authors Note:

In honor of the brand-new Justice League: Dark Apokolips War film that just came out. Anyone else get goosebumps after watching that? Ha! Ha!

Speaking of which I just uploaded a new story called Morning Star based off of the new film. Please check it out and let me know what you think. It would really mean a lot to me to see what your thoughts are about it.

Also, watching it gave me a certain idea. What do you guys think of me combining my characters Audrina from Heart Of Atlantis and Danika from this one once we get to this new movie?

Also, I still haven't figured out what Danika's superhero name should be. I really need this figured out because the following chapter after this one will be where her superhero name is chosen for this story. The choices are now down to Tempest and Twilight.

I hope you all like this one! I certainly did while writing it for your vast enjoyment! ;D

I've been meaning to get back to this one for a while and only now I've managed to find time and inspiration for it. I'm very satisfied and happy about it.

Right now during this epidemic with the coronavirus that's impacting every nation in the entire world we really do need find whatever sources we possibly can in order to lighten our spirits. Especially those who are unfortunately stuck sick or those locked in self isolation in order to prevent both contraction and spread of the illness. For those of us who have the abilities to do this we have a duty to keep up morale and that's exactly what I wholeheartedly desire these new stories and updates concocted during this time do for you.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm very satisfied and happy about it.

I recently put up some other works I've put out at titled Morning Star, Secret Of Bristol Cove, Predators Redemption, Rava's Journey, Princess Of The Forest, A Revolutionary Romance, Aunt, Fantine Tezla: Hot Wheels Acceleracers, Green Lantern Odette Dupree: First Flight, Magic And the Brave Little Toaster 1, Lavinia: Princess Of Edelweiss, Rorschach's Legend, Watchmen Meets Avengers: The Newest Defender, The 8thLoser, Naomi Poldark: Mistress Of Nampara, Serenity: End Guardian To The Moors, Dido Cruger: Power Rangers SPD, The True Catwoman Of Gotham, Green Lantern Odette Dupree: First Flight, and Nuala: The White Lioness. I have other grand news! I was a patron at New York Comic Con 2019! Ah! I'd been dying to go for years and now I had the opportunity. The Jokers from Impractical Jokers have been here along with Tom Hiddleston and so many others. Over those few days I actually got my picture taken with a couple of other actors/actresses and some really great panels. It really is so exciting there. This is an opportunity of a lifetime so there's no way in hell that I was going to waste a single second of it. No one ever should with something like this. Ever! ;D

For future preferences I highly recommend that you all keep an eye out for when tickets for New York Comic Con are available for purchase again for next year. This is a huge event and you should jump on it whenever you have the chance. Unfortunately this year it appears like Comic Con might be skipped not just in New York, but also in all it's regular places during the course of scheduled events. I think we all know the reason for it is plain as day.

The coronavirus.

Can't exactly blame with how dreadful things are getting in escalation and the fact that places like the Javits Center in New York have been temporarily converted into makeshift hospitals in order to deal with the overflow of people contracting infections from this rapidly spreading virus that might as well be called a plague at this point. Let's keep fingers crossed that an aim is to have this pass us before then so things can get back on track. If it is then New York Comic Con might be exactly what people need in order to lighten their spirits after all this darkness. Stay safe everyone and long to eventually see you there.
