Harry blinked in surprise as he was following the Greengrass Matriarch to the ward edges. "Erm...Mrs. Greengrass, have you noticed my trunk making noises and moving around?"

She looked up to the trunk and blinked in surprise, "now that you mention it..." waving her wand and lowering the trunk. "Open it Harry, but be careful..."

The trunk flashed slightly recognizing his magical signature and Harry shouted in surprise as a tiny creature with twisted horns on its face popped out. Harry blinked in confusion, "what is that?" It closely resembled an elephant from the muggle world, only very small and with horns instead of tusks.

"Where did you say you got that trunk Harry?" Daphne asked as she rubbed its trunk.

"I...in my family vaults, my mum made that for me...or at least she bought it and enchanted it for me." He knelt down close, "it seems to be searching for something."

"Were going to be late children, if I had to guess it's innate magic calls to Harry because it senses that Harry will meet its future familiar partner." The tiny guy climbed up on Harry's arm and curled up on top of his head, much to Harry's ire. Mrs. Greengrass shrunk the trunk and handed it to Harry, "well, at least now we know why it wouldn't shrink. Come along."

Xenophelius Lovegood frowned at his daughter as she came down the stairs in her school uniform, "are you sure little moon? You could wait for another year." They had received a visit from the Hogwarts deputy headmistress about a month ago, she had made a unique offer to his daughter. Seeing as Luna was born on the exact day of the cutoff for a year Luna had the option of going to school this year, or waiting for next year. Luna had said something was calling to her to come this year, so he was saying goodbye to his daughter earlier than expected.

"Of course daddy. The Nargles are telling me something is waiting for me on the train ride." The elder Lovegood nodded and they dissapeared with a crack.

Harry stared wide eyed at the train. It was crimson and golden, "I take it that the headmaster has a thing for Gryffindors?" For the past month the Greengrass family had been cramming knowledge into his head that he should have been taught for the last eleven years, including pure blood politics, Hogwarts houses, and various houses. He even had the displeasure of meeting Lucius Malfoy when he showed up to try to negotiate a marriage contract.

She nodded, "yep. My grandmother once told me that he would favour the Gryffindor house and ostracize the other houses, even worse than the current head of Slytherin would."

Harry scowled, favoriting one fourth of the school and throwing the other three in the dirt. Yea, he really did not like Dumbledore.

"Over here Daddy, the Nargles told me so." A small blonde girl a little younger than him appeared out of nowhere. "Hello Harry Potter."

Harry blinked in surprise, "hello..." the little creature stirred on his head and looked down at the blonde.

"Luna! Is that what I think it is?!" Xeno gasped.

"Indeed. That is a Crumple Horned Snorkack." She grinned as the little guy leapt into Luna's arms and they were both encased in a golden glow.

"May I asked where you found the little guy Mister Potter? My daughter and I have been looking for this little critter for years."

"Um...we just found it in the trunk my parents left me In Gringotts..."

Xeno clapped his hand and smiled, "of course! We've looked in every habitat, but never thought to look in an underground area!" He turned and both father and daughter were lost in their own world.

"Well...that explains that then." Harry said, "come on Daph...let's go get a compartment."

The blonde nodded and hugged her mother and sister goodbye. Harry followed Daphne through the train, where had told him all about Tracey, her best friend, and he knew she was searching for her. "Tracey!" She called opening a door.

The brunette witch inside smiled and stood, wrapping her friend in a hug. While the two exchanged greetings Harry sighed and grabbed Daphne's trunk and put it up on the overhead rack, silently thankful she had splurged for a feather weight enchantment onto the trunk. "It's great to see you Trace...we haven't seen each other since you went to France."

Tracey eyed the boy who followed Daphne in, liking what she saw. "who is this?" Naturally they were 11 so Tracey was not into boys that way, but she was aware of the feelings and stuff yet to come, and felt it wouldn't hurt to make a list of potential boyfriends for later on.

"That's Harry. Harry Potter, we met in Diagon alley when we were shopping."

Tracy's jaw dropped in surprise, he felt relief when her eyes didn't wander to his forehead, "I didn't even recognize him...he doesn't look anything like he did when we were kids. Or those ridiculous books either."

Daphne let a tiny smile emerge onto her face and sat down, "true." It didn't surprise her one little bit that Tracey had memories from when they were a little over a single year old. She had a photographic memory, so she remembered people she shouldn't have.

"It's nice to meet you Harry. You may not remember, but you, Daphne, and I played together as children." She held her hand out, wanting to see if he knew what to do. Harry froze and his gaze wandered to Daphne, who nodded, then he took her hand and planted a kiss to her knuckles.

"A pleasure Tracey." This caused her to smile, the Davis family weren't all that old of a pure blood family, so others tended to look down on her, it got worse when you considered she was a half blood. That he would treat her as the heiress she was initially and not below him, it made her happy.

For around an hour after that they talked about small things, it turned out both Tracey and Harry loved to fly. Him having tried it out at Greengrass manor. Tracey was reduced to a laughing fit when Harry actually let out a small squeak when a road hopped up to his lap. Though that laughing was swiftly stifled when a beautiful pure white Phoenix fire flashed in and landed on Harry's shoulder and looked down on the toad that had startled her familiar.

"Woah! You own a Phoenix?!" Tracey asked as she stroked her neck.

Harry frowned, "I'm not sure owned is the right term Tracey...she bonded to me when I woke up this morning. It's more like she is my partner."

The door opened and a girl with bushy brown hair looked in, "has anyone seen a toad? This boy lost one." She dragged a pudgy boy into view."

Harry blinked and held up the toad, "is it this one? It literally just leapt onto my lap."

"Trevor!" The boy smiled and grabbed the toad. Harry flinched at the way he held the thing. He was very well aware of how to handle the animals his aunt found disgusting. "Thanks! I'm Neville Longbottom, I dont know why he keeps running."

Harry chuckled nervously, "well...it may have to do with the fact that your crushing his genitals with the way your holding him...or the fact that Toads are semi aquatic, so he probably was looking for a place that he could get wet." Neville flinched and adjusted his grip and the frog instantly calmed down. "Here." He pulled out a small cup he had in his pocket and waved his wand so it was more of a saucer, "aquamenti." Almost instantly Trevor was in the saucer basking in the water. Harry handed it to him with a smile.

"Is that a Phoenix? I've read about those. They're only supposed to bond with strong magicals." The girl snapped out of her stupor.

"Come on Hermione, we got Trevor. Let's go sit down." Neville tugged at the girls sleeve.

"Alright Neville." She followed him out.

Daphne frowned and turned to him, "how'd you know about that toad?"

Harry shrugged and held up a cracker for Hedwig, "my aunt hated frogs, toads, snakes, and spiders. It fell to me to get rid of them. So I picked up A few things here and there."

Now, Daphne had noticed a few things here and their about what he tossed out carelessly like that over the last month and while she planned on talking about it with him...this one did make sense. Her mother did that with spiders, though being a witch when was used to toad and snakes so she wasn't bothered by them.

For the rest of the ride they talked and joked around, Harry got his first taste of wizarding candies. Unfortunately he had chosen berty Botts every flavored been...and not a good one. Two different times they were interrupted, first by a blonde boy who claimed Daphne would he his and basically being racist, then left to search for Harry Potter. The second time was a redheaded boy who looked into the compartment and insulted both of the girls, their family being in Slytherin for so long he knew they were too. He too was looking for Harry, though he claimed that he was his best friend, and that He would be in Gryffindor.

Harry mentally thanked his altered appearance. Idiots like those two probably believed those books Daphne's sister obsessed over. "You know what's weird?" He spoke up after the boy left.

"What?" Tracey asked.

"How did those ridiculous story books about me know what I looked like?"

"Dumbledore." Daphne shrugged, then sighed and continued when even Tracey looked confused. "About 10 years ago Dumbledore was losing popularity. He was being investigated for all his spots on his job career, it wasn't looking good. So Dumbledore commissioned a few books with you in them basically saying he could do no wrong. Suddenly, everyone followed the old man for absolutely everything."

Harry huffed, "well, those books are being thoroughly disavowed. After my visit to Gringotts they found a lot of illegal things all pointed straight to Dumbledore. He hasn't touched his own vault since before I was born, everything he has done was all with my money. He doesn't even have that right as he isn't my guardian."

Daphne nodded, it would be her mother and father, or Sirius Black...she couldn't recall her mother ever saying Sirius got a trial. "True. Personally I think the old man needs to be taken down a few pegs, he acts like he is a good these days."

Please change into your robes, we will he arriving at Hogwarts in five minutes.

Harry stepped out and let the girls change, as he had already changed into his school robes in the bathroom earlier. Hedwig preening in the attention she got when everyone else noticed the Phoenix on his shoulder. Daphne and Tracey joining him in the hall in their school robes and the three departed the train.

"Firs years! Over here!" Harry turned and walked towards the half giant. "No more then 4 to a boat."

Harry was in a boat with Daphne and Tracey, and was later joined by a quiet boy named Blaise. "Woah..." Hardy mumbled at the sight as they rounded the bend.

"Watch yer head!" Hagrid called a moment to late as the redheaded boy who had insulted Daphne and Tracey smacked his head and fell into the lake. Harry had to hold in a laugh as Hagrid scooped him up and had bo choice but to put the boy onto his lap. Tracey was giggling, and even Daphne had a slight smile on her face.

Stumbling up to the door Hagrid knocked and a stern looking woman answered, "the firs years Professor."

"Thank you Hagrid." She led them into an anti chamber, "welcome to Hogwats. In a few moments you will be sorted into you houses. While you're here your house will be like your family. At the end of the year the house with the most points will earn the house cup. Any triumphs you have throughout the year will earn you points, though any rule breaking will lose you points. The four houses are Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. Please wait here while I ensure they are ready." She waved her wand at the ginger boy, who instantly dried off, but that just seemed to make his smell worse. Harry though wasn't paying attention to him loudly proclaiming they had to wrestle a troll as real Ghosts seemed to faze through the wall.

Harry clapped along as he watched the other kids get sorted, he had to wonder though...why did everyone else laugh when Draco Malfoy was sorted into Gryffindor.

"Harry Potter."

Harry walked up ignoring several whisperings. Most saying he didn't need a sorting because he was most definitely a Gryffindor.

Dumbledore stared in worry at the boy, he looked like a regular boy...he had planned on the boy being beaten down and easily influenced into Gryffindor. He needed Harry to be in his pocket or everyone would begin to doubt him due to his age again.

Harry sat down and the hat slid over his head ah...difficult very Difficult. You have been on a lot of minds this year Mister Potter. Hmm...you'd fit well into all of the houses. You value hard work and loyalty due to it being thrust on you at such a young age...you have a hunger for knowledge...not a bad mind either. You have bravery in spades, and you have developed quite the cunning streak due to your relatives. Any suggestions?"

Harry blinked, I wouldn't mind being In the same house as Daphne and Tracey.

Yes...especially with the loudest pureblood bigot not in that house I can see you turning the reputation of dwar Salazars house around. Very well Mr. Potter better be...SLYTHERIN."

Harry rose and placed the hat onto the stool and ran off to sit with Daphne, who was smirking and holding her hand out to Tracey, who was grumbling and placing a gallon into her hand. "You made a bet on where I'd go?"

Daphne's smirk widened, "of course. I always take the easy bets."

Harry shrugged and ignored the headmaster's nonsense words, "so, why did everyone laugh when Malfoy was put I Gryffindor?"

Daphne shrugged, "since they moved her from France when Lucius was a child the Malfoy family was in slytherin, and very loud and proud of that fact. Dear Dracy thought he was going to get here and take over Slytherin. His father may be an outsider to the Wizengammot and not have a seat, but he has the minister in his pocket. So his political influence would've helped him. Guess Lord Malfoy should've spent more time raising his son than trying to ensnare me into a marriage contract."

"Hey, the way I see it is...less noise in Slytherin." Tracey said as she sliced a piece of steak.

Harry blinked, "if Daddy Malfoy is as powerful as you say...wouldn't be force his son to be resorted?"

Daphne shook her head, "no. The hat institute's a binding magical contract, unless he leaves the school entirely he is now obligated to be in Gryffindor for the next 5 years at least. That was instituted around 50 years ago when Abraxas Malfoy did that and the board of Govenors didn't like that." Daphne went to take a sip of her juice but stopped when Harry's hand blocked her attempt...his face dark. "What?"

Harry pointed his wand at the goblet and muttered the spell Cyrus had taught him about to avoid anyone spiking his drink. It glowed red. "The drinks are all spiked." Everyone in Slytherin, and Hufflepuff next to them froze at his voice and several students began checking the drinks. Sure enough, curses were muttered under their breath.

Daphne placed a sample in two vials and whistled over Hedwig, in a flash of fire the Phoenix and the tainted drink were gone. After that Dumbledore had everyone sing the school anthem and Harry followed the prefects to the dungeons. The Slytherin common rooms were elegant, and despite the fact that they were under the the lake due to the green glow from the roof, it was homey. "Wait here, our head of house wishes to speak with you." The prefect called.

A few minutes later the teacher swooped in and looked over his new first years, "congratulations. You have been given the honor of being in the noble house of Slytherin. Unfortunately this means that many of the other students now consider you evil. As such, I expect a unified front on any and all situations outside of the house common room. I do not particularly care if you are a pureblood or less, all I care about is ability. Being in slytherin you will all be in the top percentile of classes, I will help cover you during potions, as the pathetic Lions like to sabotage your potions to make theirs look better by comparison, however you are on your own with every other class." He swept his steely gaze around and landed on Potter, "Potter. I figured you'd be another classic Gryffindor. Show me that you aren't like your bully of a father." He swept out of the dorm and the prefect took over. Daphne having handed the professor with the vial she hadn't sent off to her father, his face turning stony at her explanation. He turned to Harry and nodded his head.

"Girls to the left staircase, boys to the right. Your door is clearly marked." He called and Harry went to find his room after waving to Daphne and Tracey goodnight. Harry fell asleep to the sound of Hedwig singing softly.
