Hi everyone! I am back. I'm sorry it has been so long, but life happens. With that being said, I hope you all enjoy this chapter! More importantly, I hope it was worth the wait.

Frustration set in as Harvey's tie would not cooperate with him. He had been standing in front of that long, wooden mirror for at least ten minutes now trying to fix it. Luckily for him, Donna was still in the bathroom getting ready so there was no rush. They were both clearly nervous for tonight based on how long it was taking each of them to prepare. It was so unlike him to let his nerves get the best of him, but tonight was a big step for them. Harvey's mom had driven to school to take them both out to dinner, but more importantly, to meet Donna.

Harvey had been waiting a long time to introduce the two most important women in his life to each other. However, his nerves weren't for Donna or Lily, but for himself. He had already met Donna's parents when they had visited for parent's weekend and he had barely survived that meeting. Somehow, he managed to win over her father and mother, but what if he messed this up tonight? He knew Lily would love Donna. There was no doubt in his mind that the two would easily get along. They both always know exactly what to say.

Donna reminded him so much of his mother. Lily and Harvey were always close growing up, but when his father died, their bond grew even more. The two had become inseparable, talking every day and sharing stories from his childhood. They both loved Gordon so much that the loss of him required them to lean on each other more than ever.

He was still fumbling the satin fabric between his fingers when he heard a creak in the wooden floor behind him followed by his favorite giggle. When he turned around, the air was knocked out of his lungs by the vision in front of him. A smile naturally grew on his face as he whispered, "You look beautiful, Donna."

Her elegant, champagne satin dress glistened in the light. While the dress clung tightly around her figure, the fabric loosely hung around her chest where from his height, he could get a slight peek at her cleavage. The color of the dress complimented her fair skin and auburn hair that was curled perfectly. The best accessory she had however was the smile that had appeared on her face following his comment. "You're not so bad yourself," she replied. "Except that tie definitely needs help."

She made her way around the bed and over to him. Her hands found the fabric dangling from his neck and pulled herself closer to him. His hot breath sent chills down her spine from the closeness. "You know, if you're going to be the best lawyer this city has ever seen, you're going to need to learn how to tie your own tie," Donna teased, finishing off the last loop in the tie.

"Well why would I need to do that if I'll always have you around to tie it for me?" he smirked.

Donna bit her lip to stop the laughs forming, "You're an idiot."

His hands made their way around her hips and finally landed on her back as he pulled her closer to him, allowing his lips to meet hers. Every time they kissed it was like the first time all over again, the same butterflies filled his stomach as he leaned in more to deepen the kiss. "I love you too," he whispered in between breaths.

Harvey swiftly picked her up and placed her down on the bed. Her giggles echoed throughout the bedroom as he carefully made his way down to her chest with a trail of kisses. Her fingers ran through his hair as she tried to contain her excitement. "Harvey," she let out breathlessly, but received no response as he was already consumed by her. "Harvey, we can't. Your mom is going to be waiting for us."

"She can wait," he mumbled against her skin.

Donna brought her hands down and cupped his face to bring him even with her. She gently kissed his lips one last time, "If you wait until we come back, I promise I can find a better use for that tie."

His eyes widened as he quickly lifted himself off of her, pulling her up with him. "Look at the time. We should get going! Ready?"

She reached out one more time and adjusted the tie slightly to the right. "Now, we're ready."

"Harvey, we are going to be late for the firm dinner! What on Earth is taking you so long?" the British voice echoed throughout the apartment. As she turned the corner into the bedroom, her face looked over in horror. "Your tie looks terrible; you should really fix that. I'm going to wait in the car with Clarrisa."

Harvey hadn't even replied before she was gone. He fussed with his tie, but eventually gave up and grabbed his jacket off of the dresser. As he left the bedroom, he noticed Josie still sitting on the couch. "You didn't have to wait for me. I could've met you guys down there."

She turned around and smiled. "It's okay. I figured I should wait and see how bad the tie was if Paula was so horrified by it," she stood up and walked over to look a little closer. "Just what I thought."

Josie reached for the tie and tilted it slightly to the right. "She was just being dramatic. Grandpa Jim used to do the same thing. You're ready now."

"Thanks kiddo," he replied, remembering how Donna used to do the same for him. "Hey, have you spoken to your mom today?"

Josie was slightly taken aback by the mention of her mother. She could tell by the look on his face that she was still a sore topic for him. "I actually just got off the phone with her. She's definitely starting to get lonely without me there."

Harvey nodded, clearly worried by the idea of her being all alone. He opened his mouth to say something but stopped himself. A moment passed before he sighed and said, "Let's get going."

The elevator ride up to the fiftieth floor was completely silent, which made it feel like an eternity. Paula and her spawn clearly wanted nothing to do with Josie and made zero effort to get to know her. Lily and Josie just kept smiling at each other, trying not to laugh from the awkwardness of the elevator ride.

When they arrived at the top floor, Paula immediately announced she was going to get a drink as she walked off the elevator. Clarissa had already run off in search of someone clearly, but Josie wasn't really sure who. She had lost her in the crowd of people in the lobby that had appeared in front of her, but Harvey made sure to stay close by once Lily was dragged away by a group of women.

An older man came out of the swarm of people with a look of excitement on his face as he saw Harvey. The salt and pepper haired man's excitement soon washed away when he noticed Josie standing close to Harvey.

"Harvey!" The man pulled him in for a quick hug, before looking back over at her. "Who do we have here?"

They were both looking at her as Harvey cleared his throat. "Daniel, this is my daughter. Josie."

His eyes grew wide, but she couldn't tell if it was shock or something else. It was almost as if he wasn't surprised to hear this news. "Your daughter? I'm sorry I must have forgotten your previous marriage."

Harvey pulled him aside slightly enraged by his reaction. "I wasn't married. Donna and I had a daughter that she forgot to tell me about before she left me for whatever his name was."

Josie watched as Daniel's face had begun to relax. She didn't particularly like the vibe she was getting from the man, but it was too soon to judge. Her mother always told her to trust her gut though.

"Right, the girl that left you for another man. I had almost forgotten about her." He redirected his attention back to Josie once his dig at Harvey did its job. "It's nice to meet you sweetheart," he stated as he reached his hand out to shake hers.

The whole situation made her extremely uncomfortable, but she reluctantly shook his hand and said, "It's nice to meet you, too."

"My son Bradley is floating around here somewhere," Daniel mumbled as he searched around for him. "Ah, there he is."

Daniel waved over a sandy haired boy around her age. He was cute, but she could tell by his walk that he was a snob like his father. She wasn't surprised to see that Clarissa had been mid-conversation with Bradley prior to his father calling him over.

"Bradley, this is Josie. Harvey's daughter," he announced. "Play nice, you two." Daniel had pulled Harvey into the crowd and he looked back as he was dragged further and further away from her mouthing an 'I'm sorry' before he was gone.

"Josie, is it? What a beautiful name for an even more lovely girl. I think I like Brosie for our couple name, what do you think?" he asked as he wrapped his arm around her back.

She can see Clarissa's face turning red with anger out of the corner of her eye. "I think not," she answered. Josie swiftly removed herself from his grip, before announcing that she needed a drink and losing him in the crowd.

As she made her way through the people swarming around her, she finally found the bar. As she waited for her water, a voice echoed behind her. "Hi, I'm Lucy Litt. You must be Josie!" the girl cheered.

Josie turned around to see the girl standing with another boy who looked very similar to her, so she assumed they were siblings. "I am. How did you know that?"

"Oh, word has already gone around the party about Harvey's long-lost daughter," she smiled as she looked over at her brother. "Oh, and this is my brother, Luke, who apparently can't speak anymore."

Josie giggled and loved how straightforward Lucy was. She knew they would be fast friends.

"I- sorry. I'm Luke, her twin brother," the boy mumbled. He was tall and fit with dirty blonde hair. His ocean eyes were piercing, but she could get lost in them.

"I love your dress! The blue really compliments your hair," Lucy praised. "Doesn't she look pretty, Luke?"

Josie couldn't help but blush. She knew exactly what Lucy was trying to do to her brother. Her eyes found their way to the floor, slightly embarrassed by the question.

"Yes, she does," he whispered, surprising both Josie and himself with his answer.

Lucy giggled with excitement as the other two stood there awkwardly waiting for the other to say something. They were both saved from any more embarrassment when they all heard Daniel announce that dinner was being served.

Lucy grabbed Josie's arm and linked it with her own. "Come on, we can sit next to each other!"

Josie had somehow ended up in between Luke and Clarissa, with Lucy next to Luke at the end of the table and Bradley directly across from her. Harvey, Paula, and Lily were seated at the opposite end of the children, so there wasn't any way she could talk to them. She hadn't paid much attention to Bradley or Clarissa as she had been lost in conversation with Luke. Once the awkwardness between them had drifted away, they couldn't stop talking. It was incredibly easy for the two of them.

Eventually, the entire kids' side of the table was involved in a conversation. They had all started talking about which law schools they were thinking about as they were all getting ready for their senior years. "Well, Columbia is appealing for the city aspect, but I really want to be a Stanford girl," Lucy announced, clearly still struggling with her decision.

"You know you can't work here if you go to one of those schools, right?" Bradley asked with a snarkiness about him.

Lucy brushed his comment off before saying, "What about you, Josie?"

She was intimidated by the question as she hadn't given it much thought. Josie still wasn't sure if she could even go to law school. Not because she couldn't do it, but because of what her mother would think. "Well…" she drifted off. "My father went to Harvard so maybe that would be cool."

"That's where I'll be going once the time comes," Bradley interrupts. "You would make an excellent Harvard girl," he smirked at her as the words left his lips.

Clarissa's rage filled the room after his remarks. "I'll be going there too, Bradley. We could totally study together."

"Sorry, what did you say, Marissa? I was lost in Josie's eyes," Bradley admitted.

Josie was completely grossed out by him. She immediately turned to Lucy and Luke to excuse herself to go to the bathroom.

As she got up, she turned to start walking toward the restroom, but was caught by Clarissa's foot in the way. Josie fell down into the table of food, knocking the dessert onto the floor and causing a loud thud to echo throughout the firm.

She laid on the ground in pain as Harvey and Lily rushed over to her once they realized what happened. "Oh my god, Josie. Are you alright? What happened?" Harvey asked in a concerned parent voice she hadn't heard until that moment. She whimpered in pain and looked up at Clarissa, who was holding back her chuckles.

"I… tripped over myself. I'm very clumsy," Josie replied, not telling them that it had been Clarissa's fault that the chocolate cake was all over the floor now.

Lily and Harvey each put one of Josie's arms over their shoulders as they helped her up. "Aw sweetie, let's get you home. Harvey?" Lily suggested, waiting for Harvey's response.

Paula immediately stood up, infuriated by her suggestion. "Harvey, we can't leave now."

Harvey looked over at Paula, shocked by her lack of care for his daughter. "She's hurt, Paula," he scolded as he shook his head in disbelief at her. "You and Clarissa stay. I'll go home with them and send Ray to pick you guys up later."

Paula huffed and sat back down without saying another word.

They had dropped off Lily at home before arriving back at the apartment. Harvey helped Josie back to her room, being careful not to hurt her ankle anymore. "How's it feel?"

"I think I might have just twisted it a little, but it's okay," Josie whispered.

"Do you think we should go to the doctor's office tomorrow? What if it's sprained or fractured or even-"

"Dad," Josie interrupted, before realizing what she had said. This was the first time she had called him that, but it had just felt so natural.

Harvey placed her down on her bed, letting her arm off his shoulder gently. "I'll go grab you an ice pack so you can elevate that foot while you get ready for bed."

"Thanks," she smiled, taking note of how caring her father was.

When he returned, she was already in bed ready to pass out. He grabbed a throw pillow off the floor and carefully lifted her foot, placing it under it then placing the pack on top of her ankle. "Is that okay?"

Josie nodded in response. "I'm sorry I ruined your night, but I did have a lot of fun meeting your co-workers. Louis' kids are really nice!"

Harvey sat down on the side of her bed. "Hey, you didn't ruin anyone's night. I'm glad you came. His kids get that from his wife, Sheila. Lucky for them they're most like her," Harvey chuckled at his own joke. "I should head to bed. I have work all day tomorrow, but I can tell Louis to have Lucy give you a call in the morning, if you'd like."

Her eyes widened in excitement. "I'd love that! Thanks and goodnight!"

Harvey stood up and made his way toward the door. "Goodnight," he whispered as he turned off the lights.

The light trickled into her room through the curtains, causing her to wake up the next morning. She took note of the damp spot at the bottom of her bed from the ice pack that had fallen off her foot in the night. There was no pain in her ankle anymore when she began to stretch out from under the covers.

The sound of her yawn was the only thing to be heard throughout the apartment, letting her know that she was alone. When she made her way around the marble countertop in the kitchen, Josie discovered a note from Harvey.

Have fun today. Let me know where you are please. See you at dinner!

Lucy Litt: 718-206-1993

- Harvey Dad

She couldn't but laugh at his signature, it was very Harvey of him. They were both still getting used to having each other in their lives, but she was glad he was trying.

Immediately after making breakfast, she texted Lucy to hangout and asked if Luke wanted to come along, too. It didn't take long for Lucy to text back and they had agreed to meet up in Central Park in an hour.

Soon after, Josie quickly began to get ready, luckily for her that they weren't too far from the park. There was an odd feeling while she was picking out her outfit. Every time she picked out something new to try on, she wondered if Luke would like it. Here she was stressing out over an outfit for a boy she hardly knew and the only person she wanted to help her wasn't there. So, the next best thing to do was to call her.

"Josie, sweetie I'm so happy you called. How are you?" Donna answered, not wanting to waste a second of their call.

"Mom, it's so good to hear your voice. I'm okay, but I need your help."

"Oh, no. What's wrong? Did Har-"

"No, oh my gosh. I'm going to hang out with some friends I made yesterday, and I need help picking out an outfit." After hearing how worried her mother got, she decided to leave out the part about the devil spawn tripping her at the dinner last night. The last thing she needed was to worry her mother more.

When she heard Donna's loud sigh, she knew her mother was relieved to hear that attire was her only issue in New York. "Gosh, Josie. Why didn't you just say you're seeing a boy you like? Facetime me so I can see the options."

Josie's mouth dropped wide open. "How did you-"

"I'm Donna. Come on, seventeen years with me and you still haven't learned this?"

Josie wasn't even sure how to respond, so instead she just clicked the facetime button. Her mother's face soon appeared extremely close to the screen. All Josie could see was her mother's black-rimmed glasses and her forehead on the screen. "Mom, back the camera up a bit. You look like Edna Mode."

"I'm sorry. I'm still getting used to this technology thing," she explained, as she backed away from her camera. "Now, show me the options."

After going through all her choices, they had finally decided on a cute pair of light-washed jeans and a white long-sleeve top. "You look great, sweetie. So, who is the guy?"

"Mom!" she moaned. "He is no one. Just the son of one of dad's co-workers."

A look of surprise appeared on Donna's face. "Dad, huh?"

"Well, he is my dad, isn't he? Or is there some other long-lost college lover you never told me about?" Josie sneered.

"Nope, just the one," Donna snapped back. "Go have fun and that boy will absolutely love you no matter what you're wearing. I miss you, sweet girl."

"I miss you too, Mom. Bye!" she cheered as she waved at the phone camera. The nerves were suddenly all gone after ending the call with Donna. Her mother always knew exactly what to say.

It had been almost two hours of just walking around Central Park with Lucy and Luke, and Josie had never had this much fun. They stopped to watch a group dancing by the fountain, and she was in awe of their talent. They were flipping and twirling all over the place. Plus, they were hilarious too when they asked for money. Lucy was hilarious and kept the entire group laughing. The girl even volunteered to be flipped over when the performers asked for people. She was super silly and that's what Josie loved about her new friend.

Luke on the other hand was a secret comedian. He didn't tell too many jokes, but when he did, Josie couldn't contain her laughter. He was much shyer than Lucy, but he still knew how to have a good time. They both watched the performers in amazement as they flipped over Lucy and the other volunteers. It was crazy the heights that they reached. Lucy even started dancing with the performers before joining Josie and Luke again.

Josie hadn't had this much fun with people in a long time. Not to mention, she was surprised at what a great listener Luke was. After the performance when Lucy went to get the group some coffees, Luke listened to Josie as she told him about anything and everything. She never told any of her friends her issues, but with him it was different.

"I'm not sure why I'm so afraid to tell my mom I want to be a lawyer like my dad. I guess I just don't want to bring up any tough feelings from her past," Josie explained. "My mom has always been so vocal about hating lawyers and now I finally understand why, knowing who my father is."

Luke sat back on the bench and thought about everything she was saying. "What do you want, Josie? This isn't your mother's future or your father's, it's yours. It may bring up those past feelings for your mom, but this decision shouldn't be about her. I'm sure she will understand if you just talk to her about it."

"And what if she doesn't?"

Luke placed his hand on her shoulder. "You won't know until you try, right? But she is your mother and from the sound of it, she loves you very much."

His gesture had comforted her, along with his advice. "Thank you, Luke."

"Why are you thanking him? I have the good stuff," Lucy interrupted, handing them both their lattes. "What'd I miss?"

They both chuckled as they got up from the bench. "I'll explain on the walk," Josie stated, hugging her new friend Lucy to thank her for the coffee.

The day had flown by and Josie was sad to have to part from her new friends. However, Harvey had texted her that she had to be home for dinner as he had decided to cook for everyone. As she was walking up to the apartment, her phone buzzed in her pocket. When she took it out, the notification was from Luke.

"I had a lot of fun today. Maybe next time I can take you to lunch?"

Josie got giddy after reading the text. She knew there was something there between them, but she wasn't sure he felt the same. Now after seeing his text, she knew her instincts were right.

"I'd like that. I'll text you after dinner."

Josie quickly hid her phone back in her pocket before entering the apartment. Paula was already setting the table for dinner when she turned the corner. Harvey was still cooking something at the stovetop when she said 'hello'. Paula didn't even look up from the table to acknowledge her, but Harvey stopped everything he was doing to come give her a hug.

"Hey kiddo, how was your day? Did the Litts behave themselves?" Harvey asked, as he headed back to the vegetables he was sautéing.

"They did. They're both really nice, I'm glad to have them as friends," she answered as she snuck past Harvey. "It smells amazing. Do you need any help?"

Paula chimed in, "We are almost done here. Just go wash up."

Josie awkwardly smiled back at Harvey and listened to the woman. When she got back from the bathroom, everyone was seated at the table.

"Nice of you to join us," Clarissa sneered as she took a bite of her salad.

Josie made her way around the table to the open seat next to Harvey. "Everything looks really yummy, Dad."

Paula's head quickly shot up after hearing the word. A look of disgust came across her face as she asked Harvey to pass the carrots. "My day was awful. The patient I've been seeing for the past couple of months relapsed. I had to clear my entire schedule today to help her. Such a pity, she was doing so well."

"I'm sorry to hear that, Paula," Harvey responded as he passed over the bowl. "Josie, what did-"

"I mean, I had to cancel almost ten appointments today. It was so frustrating," Paula interrupted, not letting Harvey finish his sentence.

Harvey nodded. He took a bite of the steak he had cut up and began to speak again. "Sorry, Josie. What'd you do today?"

"Well, we-"

"Oh, I ran into Daniel's wife at the market today. Such a lovely-"

Harvey slammed his hand down on the table, causing everyone to stop what they were doing. "God dammit, Paula. Let her speak," Harvey yelled, fed up with the woman's incessant chatter.

Paula threw her napkin down and immediately stood up from the table. She stomped her feet the entire way to the bedroom until she slammed the door shut. Clarissa shortly followed behind her mother, leaving Harvey and Josie alone at the dinner table.

"I'm sorry for that. Tell me about your day now," Harvey smiled, taking another bite of his food.

The dinner conversation was full of laughter once the two had left the table. Harvey and Josie joked around for nearly an hour before finishing. Harvey even told her about his big case that he had coming up. Josie was fascinated by him and how much he knew about law.

She offered to help clean up, but he insisted she go get ready for bed instead. As he was washing the dishes, he heard his phone ring. He was shocked when he looked down and saw the caller id on the phone. Harvey quickly grabbed his phone and stepped outside onto the balcony before answering.

"Donna," he whispered.

"Harvey," she answered.

"I have to admit, you were the last person I expected to hear from today."

There was a moment of silence before she answered, "How is she?"

"She's good besides the fact that she likes a Litt."

"Oh my god. She didn't tell me the boy was Louis' son. I had almost forgotten about him from college. Well, at least we know the boy has a good heart."

"Louis has a good heart?" he joked.

"Harvey…" Donna drifted off, trying not to laugh at him.

"I know. Josie is good though. Strong minded just like you." Harvey took a moment before telling her about what he had asked Josie at dinner. "I've asked her to stay for a few more weeks and she wants to, but it's your decision."

Donna sighed loud enough so that he could hear. He knew how hard it was for her to be away from Josie for so long. "I'll miss her, but she should stay. You were right the last time we spoke. You both deserve to know each other," Donna answered, her voice cracking from emotion. "She reminds me so much of you."

"I could say the same to you," he replied back, a long pause following his comment. "I wish you would have told me about her when you found out. I could have been there for you, Donna."

"What? And ruin your Harvard plans? You were already on a journey, Harvey. One you didn't want me to be a part of."

"That's bullshit! You left me, remember?" Harvey yelled into the phone, the emotions resurfacing from that night he had arrived home and found Daniel instead of her.

Donna sniffled, "What the hell are you talking about?"

Before Harvey could respond, there was a knock on the window. He turned around to see Josie standing there waiting for him, smiling once they locked eyes. "Donna, I can't do this right now. Josie is waiting inside, and I don't want her to see me like this."

"Of course, Harvey. Run away from your emotions like you always do," Donna snapped, ending the call without saying goodbye.

Harvey took a deep breath before going back inside. "Hey kiddo, sorry about that. Just had a talk with the client from that case I was telling you about earlier."

"Oh, I'm so sorry," she began to ramble. "I had no idea. I shouldn't have interrupted you. I just wanted to say goodnight. Is everything okay with the case?"

Harvey pulled her in for a hug and while she was in his embrace, kissed the top of her head. "Yeah, it will be fine. We just have to figure out some things. I just got a little upset hearing what she had to say."

Josie looked up at her father while still entangled in his arms. "She? I thought you were representing some guy named, Rick Sorkin?"

"Right. Did I say she? Man, I am exhausted and it's past my bedtime. How about we head to bed and maybe tomorrow you can join me at the office?"

Josie's eyes widened as she leaped out of his embrace. "Really? I'd love that. I'll have to find something to wear. I have to look professional."

Harvey laughed watching how excited his daughter got from his suggestion. "We can stop somewhere in the morning, but we will have to wake up a bit earlier than usual. Is that okay?"

"Are you kidding? Of course, that's okay! Oh my gosh! I can't wait! I'm heading to bed right now. I have to be well rested so I can be the best non-lawyer this city has ever seen!" She ran over and gave him a tight squeeze before hurrying off to her room.

Once again, as he watched Josie sprint to her room, the image of Donna appeared in his mind. It always went back to her.
