Gray was running around trying to do Happy Hour. This was awful. Cana was drinking the entire wine barrel. He watched the guild come in. He was trying to fill drinks as fast as he could. He was starting to get overwhelmed. He was NOW in his uniform which was one turtle neck, 3 sweaters, long johns, shorts and another pair of sweatpants. Various scarfs adorned his neck. He was dying but he wasn't allowed to take a single thing off or Erza would whip him senseless.

"Gray! Bring me another drink!" Erza demanded. Gray nodded. He ran to the bar.

Everyone was calling his name. He was about to scream until he saw Natsu come in. "Oh my God…"

Mira came skipping in wearing shorts and a tank now. Natsu was behind her wearing a Maids costume. He appeared to have make-up on. He was stomping in the guild. Macao and Wakaba wanted to die laughing.

"MY INSIDES!" Wakaba wheezed.

"Shut up!" Natsu glared. He was ready to punch Wakaba when Mira stopped him. "Anyone who wants to laugh at Natsu can join him." She said, eyes closed, smiling. Everyone shrunk back in fear.

"Why didn't I think of that?" Erza asked.

"Cause you have no imagination." Mira teased.

"Natsu can you go get me some pasta from the freezer. It's frozen. I believe you can reheat that right?"

"Yeah."

"Wrong answer!"

"Yes Mistress!"

"Good. Now go."

Lucy was nearing the end of her rope with the two Dreyar's. Laxus was arguing on throwing out members that were costing the guild more money than making or saving them money. It made sense business wise, but this was a guild and these were Master's children. Makarov was furious.

"If they're not going to better the guild-"

"How can you say that!"

"Easily! Because of the fact that they are harming the guild more so than making it better. You know people think of this guild as a joke because all we have a reputation for is going overboard!"

"Laxus I know you are blind-"

Lucy looked down at the reports. Laxus and Makarov both were making excellent points. She hated it. She hated it because she knew he was talking about the weaklings or the people hurting the guild were her friends. Natsu and Gray based on all these reports and growing stack of damage reports, cost the guild thousands already and she wasn't even done with the books. Laxus had caught on to that just by helping her organize. She hadn't really said anything, she had stated her opinion when asked. Which was no, they shouldn't throw out the troublemakers.

She got up abruptly and put her stuff down on the desk. Laxus and Makarov looked at the celestial mage. "Are you ok Blondie?"

Lucy looked stressed and uncomfortable.

"I'm fine. I just can't stand this arguing. Master, can I go home? I know you said 7 but it's 6:07."

"Go my child."

"Great! I'm going downstairs for a drink."

"Blondie wait!"

"No Laxus I'm not waiting. You're talking about my friends. I get what you're saying but they're family. I do agree with you we gotta find a way to curb Natsu and the others destructive habits. The guild financially can't survive. But they are my friends! I'm going home. Tomorrow prepare to get more of this organized Master! Those books will be mostly balanced along with your paperwork being done!" She said slamming the door.

Laxus scowled at the door. He decided to go after her. Makaraov was stunned by the fact his grandson chased after Lucy… he really wasn't going to finish their argument?

Laxus, followed Lucy down the stairs. Lucy was thinking about going home and throwing this thing off of her. Or staying here and having a drink. She stopped when she saw Natsu. "What are you-"

Laxus was howling. He couldn't help it.

"Bite me Laxus!"

"Oh man! Reedus! I'll pay you to paint this! A million jewels!"

Reedus looked surprised. "Really?"

Laxus was laughing so hard tears came out of his eyes. "This is too great!"

"Mira why would you make Natsu wear this?" Lucy asked.

"Same reason Master made you wear that!" She said, pointing to the cat costume."

"What? You have a fetish for men in dresses?"

"What? No not exactly. I mean Natsu looks adorable. But I like having him dress up in girly clothes. It pleases me. But no I wouldn't call it a fetish I think. The demons are pleased.

"The demons? Yes. I take over demons. I control them. But they still live inside of me. I just control them."

"Oh…" Lucy looked at Mira in slight fear. She went to go sit down when Laxus pulled her aside. "You're sitting with me Blondie."

"What-"

"Sit."

Lucy did what she was told. "Why am I doing what you're telling me to do?"

"Because I'm being nice about it?" He said, genuinely confused. Lucy rolled her eyes at that. "You know you were being a jerk up there right?"

Laxus scowled. "Blondie you saw those reports and the list you made to debtors alone pisses me off. We should not be losing that much money!"

"I agree to a point but you can't throw away a family like that. Maybe they just need a really good lesson?"

"How do you propose getting them to listen?"

"I'm not sure."

"We can't be sentimental about this!"

"What makes Fairy Tail so great is Nakama and the fact that we're family! That's why you have so many new recruits! BY THE WAY IT'S WHY I JOINED!"

Laxus scowled at the table as Gray came over. "What can I get you?" He asked.

"I'll have a glass of Merlot, Gray."

Gray nodded, he looked at Laxus.

"A whiskey."

Gray nodded and left. "Look if you're going to just argue with me on this, then I'm drinking alone and going to the bar."

"No. I'll stop. We have all day tomorrow for that."

Lucy looked at him, her face unreadable. That worried him slightly. Blondie's face betrayed what she felt. This time he had nothing to go off on.

"So, about today with that stack of pictures."

"You don't want me to say anything?"

"No. I don't."

"Out of curiosity. Why?"

"Because of the fact that these idiots don't need to know my grandfather keeps a file of my baby pictures and crap here."

She laughed as Gray brought their drinks. She sighed, sipping her drink. She was debating on what to have for dinner. She really didn't want to cook. But did not want to call Virgo...or starving was an option… If she wanted to be THAT lazy.

"Look Blondie I know you're mad at me but-"

"What?"

"What?" Laxus asked.

"Are you-are you not sighing over what happened back in my-" he said pointing over his shoulder.

"You mean today?"

"No. I mean tomorrow." He said sarcastically.

Lucy shook her head. "No, I was thinking about dinner."

"Oh yeah? What's on the menu?"

"I'm not sure. Mac and cheese and wine sounds good and easy. Not in the mood to cook."

"Sounds like a lot of empty carbs." He acknowledged.

Lucy rolled her eyes. "Maybe. But right now I want a shower. And to get out of these clothes!"

Laxus nodded. "Well pick up something?"

"Money. And I got food at home-"

"What would you cook? Besides mac and cheese let's make this a real meal."

"Hot dogs?"

Laxus shook his head at that mental image. God what was up with that? He hadn't associated hot dogs and blow jobs in years. But Blondie comes in and everything becomes suggestive? Or was it because of the cat costume? And the way that cream colored cleavage was popping out of that corset. Not to mention how deliciously curvy her figure was in it? His inner dragon was purring at all these ideas including the ones where he got his hands on her...

It was this cat costume that was driving him wild, he decided.

"What do you put on your hot dog?"

Lucy found the question odd. But she answered it.

"Relish, mustard, onions and ketchup," she said sipping from her glass.

Laxus made a face. "What are you 5?"

"Huh?"

"Who puts ketchup on their hot dog? Children do that!"

"Uh well this grown woman puts it on hers! By the way I'm not a child!"

"That outfit made that abundantly clear."

Lucy pulled at her top. "Pervert!"

Laxus smirked.

"Ok so what do you put on your hot dog?"

"Mustard, onions, sauerkraut.."

"You must be fun to make out with after a date.."

Laxus was confused. Lucy took a moment, "I hate the smell of sauerkraut."

"What?"

"Do you like pickles?"

"Yes."

"But hate sauerkraut?"

"With a burning passion. One of the better anti Lucy repellents."

"By the way Blondie no woman has ever complained about making out with me."

Lucy looked away, blushing. "What else do you hate?" He asked her.

"Tuna."

"What is wrong with you?"

"Well I like it on sushi! But like those packages and the tuna salad just-" Lucy gagged.

Laxus stared at Lucy.

"What! I'm sure you have food tastes that aren't popular!"

"Everything I like is normal!"

"Yeah like what?"

"Sauerkraut!"

"That's not normal!"

"It is. You're just the strange one."

Lucy rolled her eyes. "I bet you like ketchup on your eggs!"

Laxus looked down.

"Ha!"

"Fried spam, bacon, eggs, cheese and ketchup are a good combination! And the only exception besides omurice."

"Oh my God! You like canned meat?!"

"You gotta cook it!"

"At least you don't like it raw out of the can-"

"Yeah... those people aren't human," Laxus said.

"Agreed!"

Laxus and Lucy looked at one another smiling. "So now that I know you're a freak who knows what tit bondage porn is-"

"Would you not say that too loudly!"

"What are you going to do for dinner?"

"Well now I'm thinking of hot dogs and getting a strawberry milkshake.. Maybe mac and cheese. I'll be healthy starting Monday."

"Strawberry milkshake, mac and cheese, and a hot dog?"

"Yes! Oooooooo Gray!" She said, calling over Gray.

"Yeah Lucy?"

"Can I have two strawberry milkshakes to go?"

Gray smiled, shaking his head. "You want two?"

"Yes!"

"Alright two milkshakes. Laxus you good?"

Laxus nodded.

"Why two?" Laxus asked.

Lucy looked at him like he was dumb. "So I can drink one on the way home and the other with dinner!"

Laxus shook his head. "So you're leaving?"

"Yeah. I gotta get home and feed the stray cat, take a bath then shower-"

"You're taking a bath and a shower?"

"Well you can't do one without the other! And then I have to wipe down the tub and then I really want to read- basically I gotta get home."

"Then I'll walk you. Gray!"

The ice mage looked over at Laxus. When you bring Blondie here her shakes. Bring me my tab!"

Gray nodded. Lucy looked embarrassed. "You don't have-"

"I'm not letting you walk home alone. Don't think too hard on it."

Lucy looked at her feet, well it was her boobs. But still…..Laxus and her walked together, she was thankful no one really was paying attention to the fact they left together. All except a certain lightning mages grandfather. He sat back drinking a beer. He thought about Lucy's words, maybe his grandson needed to find the right woman….

"I'm telling you right now! It's better than it sounds!" She laughed.

"It sounds fattening!" Laxus snorted. His hands in his pants.

"You know there are plenty of dishes that you have just mentioned that just sound fattening!"

"Yeah last time I checked. Fried wings, pizza, fried green tomatoes, molé… Those aren't covered in butter!"

"Chicken Kiev or côtelette de volaille is extraordinary! Besides chicken wings really? What's the deal with that?"

Laxus snorted. "I think you love butter too much! You've gotta try a good batch of wings and you'll understand."

"Don't knock the skillet fried cinnamon toast crunch with butter and ice cream until you've tried it! It's one of the first few things I discovered on my own when I turned 15. I believe I had just ran away and I was hiding out in a cafe and the Cafe's owner's daughter gave me the recipe."

They had been talking about food now for the entire hour. Lucy was starving. They finally made it to her door step.

Lucy sighed, home sweet home. Laxus looked up at the little building that they had stopped at. It was cute and quaint and every bit of Lucy that you could ever think of.

"So I guess this is where we depart?" Lucy said. She was conflicted, she didn't want the conversation to end but…

"We could let the night go on-" he said, pushing her up against the door. Lucy stared at Laxus. "I-I think." She was nervous, was she ready for this? Laxus saw her look unsure. He leaned back, giving her her space.

"I'll see you tomorrow?"

"Tomorrow!" She squeaked. She ran inside the door. "Good night!"

Laxus was surprised. Laxus looked at the door. Maybe this had to do with her attack? Maybe he needed to take it slower? He shook his head, was he interested in her enough to give her the time of day? He shook his head again. And lightning teleported out of there.

Lucy looked outside. He was gone. She sighed, hitting her head against her hands.

"What just? What I- ugh!"

She microwaved a hot dog and stuffed it down her throat. She grabbed a bottle of wine and started to run a bath. She thought about today.

So much paperwork! So many things to get done! And Laxus!

She thought about what the Master had said. She sighed, Master had said that monogamy wasn't really a thing that Dreyars did. What about Laxus? She thought about it, but was she really ready to give her heart to somebody that she didn't know was willing to be in a committed relationship or better yet had a reputation of asking women out and then dumping them once he got what he wanted. Not to mention he already said that he would get rid of her the minute that he became Master of the guild. Did she really want to entertain some wild little crush and keep on checking him out and keep on thinking he was attractive and...oh she felt so hopeless.

She looked at her clock, it was nearing 10. She needed to clean up, and go to bed. She sighed and got out of the tub. Watching the tub drain… Like she wished the complicated feelings she had at the moment would do.

The next day she got ready to go to the guild. She showered and fed the cat. The cat was purring and rubbing against her legs as she bent down to feed it. She smiled while drinking her cup of coffee. Magnolia looked beautiful with blue skies and the sun shining down upon it. She looked at her face and put only some cover up on and some powder for her face. She brushed her teeth and got ready for the day. She put on a long trench coat that belonged to her mother. It was a long black leather trench coat. Her mother had it before she met her father. Lucy had Aquarius keep some of her mother's and her personal things in the spirit world till she had a place. Aquarius mainly agreed to help on the principle that most of it was Layla's. She grabbed her keys. She nodded looking herself over in the mirror. 'I got this!'

She decided she was overreacting last night. Laxus would never pursue her and that she needed to get a grip! So that's what she had done. She could look and find the mage attractive all she wanted too as long as she didn't delude herself into thinking they had a future together. She had her hair down today, it was straight as a board. She frowned at that. She liked it when her hair had more volume and waves in it. She grabbed her wallet and kept it in her pockets. She took a deep breath in as she left her apartment and exhaled locking up. A new day, a new adventure. And a new bottle of wine waiting for when she got home tonight….

Natsu and Gray were dying. They were also shoving one another. They both were wearing black speedos for the day and wearing black bow ties.

"Stripper stop airing your oh God!" He said, shielding his eyes from seeing Gray's junk.

"I can't help it if my dick is bigger than yours and can't fit into this!"

"You wanna start that!"

"Enough!" Erza said walking into the kitchen. "You both will be on your best behavior today!"

Gray and Natsu nodded. When she was not looking they shoved one another one last time. Mira came in humming, she was happily making brunch for the ladies coming into today. She was cracking some eggs making some eggs and pancakes. "Well this should be fun!" Mira chirped.

"For you! You don't have to dress-" Gray stopped.

"I don't have to dress like what?" She asked.

"Isn't Mira a bikini model?" Natsu asked..

"Shut up!" Gray screamed realizing his idiocy.

"Well you two got this!" Mira chirped. She picked up her notepad for orders and headed out.

Lucy walked into the guild, she nodded to her guildmates who were down stairs. A couple of mages were disappointed she was covered up. She walked up stairs, when she got into Makaraov's office. She was surprised to see Makaroav and Laxus getting along. "Morning!"

"Morning Lucy!" Master said. "Are you ready today?" He said hearts in his eyes. Laxus eyed his grandfather and he smacked him.

"Ouch!" Master complained.

"Shall we get started today?" Lucy asked blushing, untying her coat. Laxus and Master watched her intently. Laxus growled when he caught himself doing it.

"Already have Blondie. Jeez Gramps, I can't even read your handwriting-" he said looking down at the stack of papers.

Master slapped Laxus. "Lucy let's get started! I want to be down stairs to watch Natsu and Gray being punished."

Lucy nodded. She took off her coat, she was unaware of Laxus and the Master watching her again. She sat down getting ready to look over the paperwork. She was having trouble sitting down, getting used to this tail was rather annoying. She looked up to see Laxus staring at her. She blushed and looked quickly back down, getting back to work.

Natsu and Gray swallowed. They watched the old ladies file in, they were eyeing the men up and down. Natsu and Gray wanted to vomit. "Oh no!"

"Oh yes!" Erza said. "Time to finish your punishment!" She said shoving the men out onto the guilds floor. Natsu and Gray were going around taking orders. Natsu yelped when a lady grabbed his butt. "You have such a cute tooshy! Just like my late George!" She said. She had a short bob and was wearing a green silk pant suit. Natsu cringed.

Gray was going around refilling drinks he felt like a piece of meat at a barbeque for hungry animals. He had women reaching out petting him, dropping things in front of him so they had to bend over to get it. Like he really wanted to check out some old ladies.

"Oh yoo-who! Suga! Come and sit right next to me!" A lady shouted. Gray cringed. And here they go again…..

Lucy was now in the archives getting the previous Master's books and Master Mavis's books, she was getting ready to go back up stairs when something fell out of the book she had in her hands. It was a photo, it was Natsu riding a blue dragon. She was surprised to see Gray, Erza...was that NO! It was some girl with white hair dressed in a black crop top and skirt. She looked mean... and...was that Cana looking well... sweet? She looked at the photo. 'Who was the silver hair girl though?'

"Oi! Blondie! What is taking so long-"

"Sorry! I got distracted!" Laxus walked down the aisle and noticed something in her hand. If that was another baby photo of himself he was going to scream.

"What do you have in your hands?" He said defensively.

"This painting that fell out."

Laxus took the photo and stared at it. A flash of pain flashed on his face, but it disappeared. He was in this one but he wished it was a baby photo.

"Who is all in that photo?"

"The guild. This was the day that little blue rat was born."

Lucy was confused. "But where is Happy?"

"That." He said pointing to the dragon.

"That's not Happy."

Laxus shook his head. "I don't know why he's a dragon."

"Who else is in the photo?"

Laxus eyed her, but grudgingly told her…...

"Wow Mira looks different!"

"She was a ball buster back then...that's Elfman." He said pointing to the young man in the suit. Lucy stared. "Wow he looks way different!"

Laxus snorted thinking about the time Evergreen mistook Elfman for someone else. She wanted to die knowing that she was about to flirt with someone who was 6 years younger than her. Laxus didn't let her live that down.

"Cana even looks cute and sweet!"

"Cana changed once she was allowed to drink and her first S-Class exam."

"How would you know that?"

"Cause I was the one she had to fight for the exam she didn't take it too well-And this is Lisanna."

"Who is she?"

Laxus paused. "That's not my story to tell Blondie." His heart ached slightly. He never held anything against the littlest Strauss. But if Elfman had been more powerful.. powerful enough to control his magic… No one would have died... maybe Lisanna wouldn't be dead.

"Is that you?" Lucy's question distracted him. Laxus smiled wanly, rubbing the back of his head. "Yes."

"Oh my God!" She laughed looking at a grunge dressed Laxus. "You look so cute!"

Laxus frowned. "I was not cute!"

"Totally were! I love it! Look at that mustard tee and those baggy pants! Oh my god you look like such a grumpy teenager!"

"I was not a-" Laxus shook his head. "Ok! So maybe I was!"

"Laxus, Lucy! Where are you?" Master called.

"Down here! We'll be up in a minute!" Lucy called. She took the picture from Laxus. "And where do you think you're going with that?" He asked.

"Uhhh somewhere. I'm taking this. It's mine now."

"Lucy!"

"Hey! You used my name!" She called happily running away.

The day went by quickly Laxus and Lucy made a pretty good team. Lucy had to deal with Laxus being in some bad mood after Mira asked if she found Natsu's boyish charms cute. Laxus was still complaining about letting in weak newcomers into the guild. "They won't even last a day around here," he muttered. Though upset by some of his comments Lucy still found herself enjoying his company. When he wasn't monosyllable he could be very pleasant to talk to. Much to Lucy's relief the previous Master before Makaraov was responsible until he handed the job to Makaraov that is….He did the paperwork correctly and he balanced the budget! It would take a good few weeks but she was sure she could get it all figured out. Laxus and Lucy were wrapping up for the day. She was trying to not notice how Laxus's arm muscles bulged out of his shirt.

"I can't believe we're almost done!" She coughed looking at some papers.

Laxus smirked. "I'm disappointed, I like the uniform." He was checking out Blondie the entire day. He didn't even bother hiding it. Lucy stuck out her tongue.

"What else does that tongue do?"

"Pervert!"

Laxus smirked looking down at the paperwork.

"Come on I'll walk you home." He said looking at the clock. "You sure? You don't have to." Lucy said.

"I will, and shut up." He said getting his coat. He didn't want to think too closely on why he was doing this.

Lucy smiled. They left the guild, Laxus was smirking at Natsu and Gray who had thrown off their clothes now that their punishment was over. Laxus shook his head as the two mages were fighting all over again. Lucy and Laxus were laughing on the way back to Lucy's house.

"So, if the plot for your novel is what you're saying it's going to be like, I wanna read it."

Lucy blushed, "I don't know about that, nervous about what you will think."

"Don't be." Is all he said. His hands in his pockets. Lucy coughed into her hand. "So I'm not going to lie, I thought I had problems as a kid until I read Oedipus."

Laxus shook his head. "Wasn't the type of stuff I read as a kid."

"Really what did you read as a kid?"

"I read stories about adventures, and kings and knights. About gods and good and evil fighting one another. Huge epochs. Something I could escape to."

Lucy nodded. "You should let me read one of your favorite books!"

Laxus hesitated. "Why don't we go to dinner and I give you one of them." He was hoping she would say yes. Something compelled him to ask her. His inner dragon was purring.

Lucy stopped at her door. "What?"

"You, me, a date."

Lucy stared at him.

"Cat got your tongue?" He joked, now nervous. Usually women just said yes sometimes it was a no but nobody just stared at him.

"No. It's just-"

"It's just what?"

Lucy's and Laxus's heart were both pounding. They both felt their stomachs drop. "I'm just not sure."

"What?"

"Laxus, you're a brilliant mage who I trust with my life, but I'm not sure right now if I can trust you with my heart. I'm afraid of the fact you only date women to sleep with them, and then you label people weak and powerful and I'm just not sure-"

"Oh ok. I get it." He turned away. Something felt wrong, the inner dragon in his head was whining. He shook his head disappointed. "Laxus wait! I'm not finished! I need to-"

"It's fine. Lucy. I get it."

Laxus teleported out of there. Lucy felt her heart seize up. She felt like she said the wrong thing but also the truth. Had she made a mistake or had she made the right decision not going for mage?
