A/N: First of all, spoilers for Legacy. Second, characters belong to Shannon Messenger, not me. I will post a new part every week, maybe less. Yes it gets pretty gay, so if you don't like that, why are you reading this? Anyways, enjoy the chaos!
Tam was tired of sitting around wallowing in his regret. Linh and Marella were always training together, so they were never around. Glimmer was getting on his nerves whenever he visited her, always having something to say, antics to question. So Tam simply sat in his room, keeping the door closed, the same thoughts repeating in his head.
How he'd ruined his trust with so many people.
How he'd betrayed his sister.
How he'd almost killed Keefe, who was now lying motionless in the healing center because of what he'd done, no one knowing what was going to happen to him.
Tam's dark thoughts were interrupted by a sharp knock at his door.
"What," he growled. Linh's voice called through softly.
"Tam? Sophie just hailed me. Keefe woke up." Tam's head shot up.
"He did?"
"Yeah," Linh replied. "Sophie thought it would be good if you stopped by." Tam hesitated, not sure if he could ever look at Keefe without being met with hatred. He knew Keefe said it wasn't his fault, but Tam still didn't know if he could come to terms with what he'd done. But he had to do what he could to set things right.
"Okay," he told Linh, standing and opening the door. "I'm coming."
Keefe's mind was going insane.
His thoughts were all jumbled, one quickly jumping to another. He tried to slow down the rapid-fire, but didn't know how. Everything was flickering in and out of focus, becoming faster and faster until it felt like he was going to explode—
KEEFE, WAKE UP!
The thought jolted him upright. An energetic hum coursed through his body. His eyes wouldn't focus, but he could tell he was in the healing center. The fuzzy multicolored blob in front of him must have been—
"Sophie," he gasped. The blob shifted and he felt it take his hand.
"Keefe?" Sophie asked in disbelief. Keefe groped around with his other hand to find her arm.
"Okay," Keefe started, his voice hoarse and vibrating. "Um… vision's a little wack here. Needless to say, you better have some of those painfully adorable and perfect elf cookies on you Foster." Sophie laughed.
"Lucky for you, I was well-prepared for the occasion," she rustled around and placed a few cookies in his hand.
"That's what I'm talking about!" Keefe exclaimed, downing them all at once. He heard Sophie crunch on one too.
"So…" Keefe began, crumbs falling out of his mouth. "What's been happening?"
"Not much, actually," Sophie replied. "I've really just been hanging around here. Are you feeling alright?"
"Honestly I feel surprisingly okay, minus vision being foggy and everything feeling like it's vibrating."
"Sounds like nothing Lord Hunkyhair can't handle!" Ro happily shouted from somewhere in the room. Keefe jumped.
"I didn't know you were here," he muttered.
"Of course I'm here, sleepyhead." Ro replied, with an eye roll Keefe didn't need to see to know it happened.
"Yeah, but where are you?" Keefe asked. "I can't really tell with all this messed up sight." A hand clapped down hard on his shoulder. "Ow! Okay, that answers that."
"I think I'm going to hail Linh," Sophie announced, as Elwin came out from his cubicle to check on Keefe. "Have her bring Tam over." Keefe raised an eyebrow. "What?"
"Do you really think Tammy Boy will actually want to see me? I feel like he's probably too busy wallowing in self-pity. At least I won't entirely be able to see his pathetic hair, I'll only have to listen to his angsty voice."
"I can't believe you still hate each other."
"It wasn't because of this mess! I didn't like him waaaay before that. This changed nothing. Although we were able to have a nice heart-to-heart before he almost killed me—"
"Keefe, you're rambling."
"I'm aware. My brain is a complete mess right now."
"Are you sure you're alright?"
"Never been better. Well… except for the time I first witnessed the perfection of E.L. Fudges."
