Disclaimer: I don't own HSDXD.

Well well well, here we are again. Yet another rewrite. I'm very sorry to keep doing this to you all, but I honestly didn't know how to continue PTU. I was basically just throwing in new ideas the same way Araki writes Jojo as he goes, and that left so many things feeling rushed and a lot of plot holes. I debated just abandoning the story outright because I was afraid of how some of you might react to another rewrite, but after a talk I had with a fellow writer, I've decided to do it anyways! A few things will stay the same, a lot will change, but at the end of the day, I hope you enjoy my creation.

"Ddraig, did I do something in this life to deserve so much suffering…?"

Ddraig did not give a response. Not because he did not want to speak, but because he had no idea what to say in reply. How he wanted to ease the pain his partner was going through, how he wanted to say everything would be okay. But he knew better than that.

"I thought I'd finally be able to live out my days with her. You know, be happy…" He scoffed. "I should've known better." He coughed harshly, blood splattering his white shirt, staining it an unnerving crimson. He felt his legs shake under the weight of his body, and he knew he was running out of time. "I just wish I could do it all again…I wish I could go back in time and never join them." He spat out the last word with so much hatred that it surprised even himself for a moment, before he slumped onto his knees, his eyes finally releasing the tears that were held back for so long. "I wish I could go back and relive all those moments with her…"

His wounds flared, and he collapsed fully, his face being gently brushed by the blades of grass beneath him. For a few moments, a blissful silence shrouded the plain, before being broken by a voice.

"The past cannot be changed, but what if I gave you a chance to live out that future?"

He felt his head be lifted gently, a hand slowly turning his body over so he would face whoever it was. As his eyelids dropped closed, he managed to whisper out his answer.

"I'd take it." The figure let out an affirmative huff and spoke gently.

"Then you have it."

To say Issei Hyoudou was boring would be unfair to the man. He wasn't boring, he just kept to himself. He'd smile as you walked past him in the halls, wave at you from across the class, and gladly help you with any homework you struggled with.

So what made him different and so appeasing to many of the girls in Kuoh Academy? Well, aside from looking 'cute' and 'being such a gentleman', it was the company he kept. Or rather, the lack of it. You see, Issei had many acquaintances, but he never had a group to be a part of. This, of course, led to many girls trying to 'fill his empty heart' and for many guys to try to become his friend to share the attention coming from the female population. Through all this, Issei stayed quiet and kept a small smile on his face.

It started as a normal enough day, with Issei shaking his head fondly as his closest acquaintance, Aika Kiryuu, enthusiastically described a scene in a show she had begun watching, when they turned a corner only to run into another two students. And that's where this all begins.

~KI~

"So you're telling me that they end the episode like that?" A confused smile decorated his face, his eyes sparkling with amusement. "That doesn't seem that fai- oof!"

He felt his body collide with another and quickly flipped himself and whoever he had run into around so he would hit the ground. He hit the floor with a grunt, the back of his head slamming harshly into the wooden floor of the hallway. As he began to collect his thoughts, he heard the flutter of papers flying through the air, with Kiryuu and another voice speaking out.

"Oh my goodness, you okay Issei?"

"Kaichou, are you alright?"

His eyes snapped open at that and he looked down to look at the figure he had run into. On his chest was Souna Shitori, fixing her glasses as she shook her head. He quickly scrambled up, helping Souna up.

"I am so sorry, Kaichou! It seems like I wasn't paying attention." He spoke quickly and let out a small nervous laugh at the end of his sentence. He knelt down and began to collect the various papers that had scattered along the floor.

"It's quite alright…Hyoudou was it?" Issei nodded in reply, holding out the stack of papers for her to collect. "I was lost in my own thoughts, so don't worry too much about it." At this, Issei's eyes widened slightly.

For the smartest and most collected girl in Kuoh to lose herself in her own thoughts…must be some serious stuff.

Issei bowed slightly. "Still, I should have been paying more attention. So please take my apology." He straightened up and rubbed the back of his head. Her eyes seemed to look into his soul for a few moments before she nodded back.

"Then consider yourself forgiven." And with that, both groups parted their separate ways. Issei and Kiryuu thought nothing more of it, with Kiryuu taking the opportunity to tease Issei a little. To the Student Council vice-president and her second-in-command however…

"I felt that little spike when you ran into him, Kaichou, and I can say for sure it wasn't you running into Hyoudou that caused it." Sona nodded, her face not giving anything away. "What did you get from him?"

Sona turned to watch students walk along the main courtyard of the campus, her arms leaning against a banister. Her eyes glinted in the sunlight, her devil side almost bursting through.

"Power. Pure, unrelenting power."

"Ahhhh, what a day." Issei spoke aloud. He cracked his neck as he walked, thinking of what he was going to do for the night.

"Well, Mom and Dad are gonna be gone on that cruise for who knows how long, so I guess I gotta stock up on groceries…then there's the History homework, but that's not due for another week…" He slowed to a stop, looking over onto the street below, watching cars pass by. He sat down at a nearby bench and sighed once more.

"What the hell was that dream I had last night? It was way more realistic than any other dreams I've had before." It had been bothering him all day, and he didn't think it was going to ease up any time soon. There were just too many questions he had. Where was he? Why was he bleeding?

"Who was she…?"

"U-um, excuse me?" His head turned, and he shot up slightly at the sight of a girl in a uniform he didn't recognize.

"Can I help you?" He asked, unsure what this girl wanted.

"You're Issei Hyoudou, right? From Kuoh Academy?" He nodded, now a little suspicious.

Where is she going with these questions?

"P-please go out with me!" His eyes widened, and he quickly stood up. The girl stood in front of him, staring out at the road, blushing and shaking slightly.

"W-what? But I don't even know who you are?!" The girl's face somehow reddened even more, before she stammered out a reply.

"I-I've seen you walk here a lot, and you're a pretty popular person in Kuoh Academy. Word travels fast, especially about a cute boy…" Issei blushed heavily at that, before collecting himself.

"Well, I think I'm going to have to pass on the date…" As he watched her face fall at his answer, he quickly continued. "But I'd be down to go out as friends!" She perked up at this, and he let out a sigh of relief.

"Yay! That sounds amazing!" He smiled, genuinely appreciating her enthusiasm. He watched her do a little twirl as she threw her arms over her head. She stopped suddenly and turned back towards Issei. She tilted her head and smiled.

"Oh! I forgot to introduce myself! My name is Yuuma Amano, I'll be in your care from now on."

~KI~

If you asked him at that very moment, Issei would say the next few weeks after that were the happiest days of his life. Every day was spent with Yuuma, whether they grabbed food after school, or went out and explored Kuoh, Issei would swear that he had a smile on his face for the entire time.

Yuuma quickly grew on him, her bubbly personality and her seemingly boundless energy endeared her to him, and he realized quickly that she surpassed Kiryuu's position of closeness in a matter of days.

I guess this is what a true friend is like.

It was another one of their hangout days, and she had dragged him across the city, shopping and eating wherever they felt like going. They were in the local park, when they stopped and sat down at the fountain at the center of the park. Issei sighed and stretched his back, when Yuuma began to speak.

"When I asked you out on the bridge, I never could've imagined how much fun I'd be having with you." He turned to her, a questioning look in his eyes. She continued speaking, letting out a soft sigh. "Well, I imagined at best going out on a date or two with you before you realized how boring I was, and then us going our separate ways." Issei scoffed at that, and his eyes softened.

"I wouldn't trade these last few weeks for the world, Yuuma. I'm glad I took the chance to know you." She looked down, and a sad smile appeared on her face. Issei looked off into the park, and she whispered out her next words.

"I feel the same…which is why it hurts so much to do this." His head snapped back to her, only to feel something puncture his gut. He looked down to see what he thought was pure light pushing into his liver, Yuuma's hand right on it. He looked up into her eyes and saw her holding back tears.

"I wish I didn't have to do this…but they'll hurt me if I don't." She wrenched out the blade of light, and his hands flew down to put pressure on his wound. "I'm so sorry Issei…" He watched as a pair of pure black wings unfurled from her back, and she slowly laid him onto the ground. He shakily raised a hand towards her face, and he wiped away a stray tear from her face.

"I-it's okay…" He shuddered out, feeling blood pour out onto the ground. His vision began to blur, and he watched her shake heavily, before flying away. He looked out into the sky, watching as the moon came out from behind the clouds. He coughed heavily, trying to push himself up. He leaned against the fountain, painfully getting himself into a sitting position. His breath began to come out in rasps, but he refused to give up. He stood shakily and began walking towards home.

"C-can't let Mom and Dad down…I still have so much to do." He stumbled, before collapsing onto the concrete below him. He hit it with a grunt, seeing a black shadow beginning to fill his vision.

So this is how I die huh…I still haven't made it to twenty! I can't go just yet…

He rolled over, looking at the stars above, and sent out one last prayer.

Please…someone help me…I can't die yet. I have so much left to do…

And as his vision faded fully to black, a voice pierced through his mind.

[Then let's get to work.]

And there's the first chapter of Khaos Inbound! This story will move a lot slower than Pieces To Use, but hopefully that's a good thing for you guys. I plan to flesh out a couple ideas I had from PTU a lot more, so I hope I succeed in doing so.

Let's hope it doesn't take another two years for my writing interest to peak again! I look forward to reading your reviews on this one!
