The seven Supreme Beings of the New World

Chapter one: Seven friends stay to the end and get a new beginning out of it

A group of players in YGGDRASILL, the leading pioneer in the field of DMMO-RPGs, ran up to the edge of a purple, poisonous-looking swamp that sat in front of a large mausoleum that was the opening of a crypt-like dungeon that served as the base for one of the many, many player guilds in the game. The arriving group of players, all of them playing humanoid characters, were surprised when a mass number of undead MOBs popped up from the swamp and proceeded to head right in their direction.

The humanoid players fought back valiantly, destroying many of the undead MOBs in the process. After taking out a good number of the NPC opposition, the humanoid players stopped short when they heard darkly amused laughter call out from the entrance of the dungeon guild base that they were planning to head down into. Looking over, one of the humanoid players, wearing red armor, spotted some of the most well-known players of YGGDRASILL, the ones whose guild had made the dungeon their guild base. They were well-known, but not well-liked, for one simple reason.

They were all playing as inhuman characters.

The biggest offender (the humanoid players, due to how things went in the game, considered all inhuman character players as offenders) by far was the skeletal mage that was in the academic-esque gown. He stood in front of the party of inhuman players, seemingly looking down at them for daring to invade his and his friends' guild base. Soon, the humanoid players were surrounded when a bunch more undead MOBs spawned around them. Alarmed, the humanoid players got close together, taking defensive stances as the skeletal mage merely laughed at their pathetic try at forming a defense against insurmountable odds.

The humanoid players soon all laid defeated, the effect of a spell that stunned them and left them looking like freshly-killed dead laying on a battlefield; if their HP had actually dropped to zero, then their avatars would have disappeared, only to reappear at a respawn point and with five levels lost due to the level drain that comes with respawning. As the humanoid players laid there in defeat, the skeletal mage, as well as all of his fellow inhuman players who stood behind him, simply looked down at their defeated enemies. To show contempt, some of them used emotes that made it clear they were looking at the humanoid players with utter contempt.

The skeletal mage, giving off the same emote, also added a sinister-sounding laugh.

"It was fun. Really, really fun."

Momonga, a male undead who had the special Overlord race, was sitting at the head of a large and ornate round meeting table located in a meeting room in the ninth floor of the Great tomb of Nazarick, the dungeon that he and his guild, Ainz Oowl Gown, had conquered (on their first try btw) and sub-sequentially made into their guild's base. Sitting a few chairs away from Momonga was his friend and guild mate Herohero, a male Elder Black Ooze.

"Hey, man." Herohero lifted up a slimy arm as he turned to face Momonga. "Long time, no see. How's it going, Momonga-san?"

"Herohero-san!" The leader of Ainz Oowl Gown could not hide the excitement in his tone at seeing an old friend after so many years. "It's been roughly two years since I last saw you. I didn't think you'd actually come."

Herohero took pause for a few seconds before he spoke up again. "…Seriously? Two years?" Letting out a breath, the slimy player said, "Hoo boy, my work schedule has my sense of time all messed up if it's been two years." Herohero sounded very much tired, a side effect of being one of the workers in the early to mid-22nd century. "All of the overtime I've been doing as of late has put things for me all out of whack."

"Isn't that a pretty bad symptom?" Momonga asked.

The Elder Black Ooze avatar nodded once in agreement. "I'm beyond exhausted. I feel just like how my avatar looks." Herohero then gently let out another sigh. "…Sorry about that one, man. I didn't come here just to take up your time to complain to you about my life just to get things off of my chest."

Momonga held up a hand, let out an 'it's okay' kind of smile emote. "No need to sweat the details, Herohero. It's very understandable."

Herohero let out an emote smile that showed thankfulness. "I need to get going soon. I'm really sorry, but I'm just plain tired, and need to go to bed." Looking around the room he and Momonga were in as he pulled his menu up, Herohero paused for a bit to contemplate what all he was seeing. "…I have to admit, I'm surprised that this place is still up and running. It looks as good as it did in its heyday."

"Huh?" Momonga remarked, surprised by his friend's remark.

"You must have pulled out all the stops to maintain the Great Tomb of Nazarick on your own," Herohero clarified, "But then again, it's stuff like that which made electing you to the position of guild leader a very good idea. Thanks for taking care of the guild that the forty-one of us all built together, Momonga-san. Your hard work is very admirable. I hope that we can meet up again somewhere IRL." Herohero pushed a few things on his menu before he disappeared, and a line that said 'Herohero has logged out' appeared in Momonga's field of view.

The leader of Ainz Oowl Gown let out a resigned, mildly troubled sigh. "Well, today is the last day that the game severs will be up. Maybe we can stay until the very end…?" It was something that Momonga wanted to say to Herohero, hoping that at least one of his old guild mates, one of his old friends, would stay with him, keep him company until the time that game servers for YGGDRASILL went down permanently.

Looking down at his spot at the large meeting table, Momonga let out a sigh before straightening up a bit. "…No, I would be happy that he even came. …'I hope that we can meet up again somewhere IRL', huh? And just how are we supposed to do that?" There was a slight aura of resigned sadness that emanated from the Overlord as he looked around the large round meeting table, forty-one chairs set around it for each member of Ainz Oowl Gown.

His feels were welling up, enough so that he slammed the surface of his spot at the table with his skeletal fist, which the game engine apparently recognized as an attack, but one that did a total of zero damage. "You've got to be kidding me!" Momonga exclaimed, upset that he was now alone in the guild. "We conquered this dungeon together, made it our guild together! How could they all give up so much and so easily?" If his in-game avatar would have allowed it, Momonga would have shuddered as he tried to hold back the tears.

"…No, that's not it." Getting up from his chair, Momonga began to calm himself down. "No one betrayed me. In addition to having to have an inhuman character, everyone in Ainz Oowl Gown had to be a functioning member of society. That's right, everyone's livelihood was at stake. Some were even able to achieve their dreams. That being said, it's perfectly understandable that they chose real life."

Standing up from his chair, Momonga turned around to see where an elaborately ornate golden staff, with a head that was composed of several coiled-up snakes that each held differently colored, perfectly round jewels in their respective mouths, was floating. "The Staff of Ainz Oowl Gown," Momonga remarked aloud as he approached the floating weapon, "The guild weapon that we all played recklessly to make. Some used their paid vacation, and others had family spats, in order to make the time to grind for the materials to make this."

Letting out a troubled sigh, Momonga reached for the guild weapon. "…But among the forty-one players, thirty-seven of them-" The Overlord player stopped short when a few notifications appeared across his field of view, and each one brought a surprising amount of joy to his heart.

'Anubis Nile has logged on'

'Thor Fjord has logged on'

'Kurama Kyubi has logged on'

'Pierre Jean Luc has logged on'

'Roberto el Muerte has logged on'

'Perseus Olympus has logged on'

"My…so many of my old…" Momonga practically stammered, surprised to see many of his old guild mates, so many of his old friends, log onto YGGDRASILL during the final day the game would be up. He was so overcome with joyous, surprised shock that he didn't snap out of it until he heard a male voice speak to him through the use of the Message function.

"Yo, Momonga!" The Overlord recognized that as the voice of the first person he saw log on, Anubis Nile. He was a male werewolf cleric that, rather obviously given his character's name, had a thing for Ancient Egyptian culture and history. "Where you is, man?" Anubis said through the Message, "I got your email, so I wanted to see how you've been holding up."

Momonga had to control himself in order to properly reply. But then again, he was so happy to see so many of his old friends after so long that he actually had to try. Can one really blame the guy for his joy, though? "I'm in the meeting room, Anubis," Momonga replied as the Message link that Anubis had set up was still active, "I'm standing between where my chair at the table is at and the cubby that the Staff of Ainz Oowl Gown is floating in."

To Momonga's surprise, Anubis ended the Message link, only for the guy himself to teleport into the meeting room a few seconds later. Anubis, as previously said, is a male werewolf cleric, currently in a humanoid form. As a further testament to his romanticizing of Ancient Egyptian culture, his avatar had the appropriately tanned skin and black hair that is often associated to the old culture that had ensnared his heart.

As for his outfit, Anubis wore a pharaonic headdress, a nemes; it had gold and red stripes, with an image of a wolf's head viewed from the side on the area that covered the forehead. Anubis also wore a shimmering short-sleeved silken shirt that was white with golden trim on the hem and the ends of the sleeves, a red and gold-stripped collar with white trim around his collar bone area that had a golden-colored diamond in the middle, gold bands on his biceps, a pair of gold manacles with one around each wrist, a pair of baggy, somewhat puffy golden-colored pants that ended about seventy-five percent of the way to his ankles, and a pair of simple boots that had pointed toe-ends, although there were gold bands around the ankle area.

Similar to Momonga's outfit that was currently worn by the Overlord, all of Anubis's outfit pieces were divine-class. Speaking of divine class, the same can be said of Anubis's staff, which was currently holstered to his back; the staff was a long, golden item that ended with an ahnk that had an Eye of Horus in the loop part. The eye looked to be made of lapis lazuli, with the pupil in the middle looking to be a solid red ruby.

"Sorry if it's been a while, my good dude," Anubis said to Momonga, "But I got caught up with something serious at work ever since one of my co-workers got a manager fired."

"One of your co-workers got a manager fired?" Momonga couldn't believe it. In the current day and age, getting fired from your job was very serious, with the seriousness going up depending on how valuable the position was; being fired from a managerial position was practically having your death warrant signed. Momonga figured that Anubis had quite the tale to tell about what all had led up to what happened at his work, but he was never able to ask about it.

But then again, the reason why Momonga couldn't ask about it was because the others who had just logged onto YGGDRASILL had teleported into the meeting room. Momonga, and to a lesser extent Anubis, were surprised to see the others teleport into the meeting room. But then again, neither of them were going to complain about getting to meet up with so many of their online buddies in the final moments of the game that had brought them and so many others together for one of the biggest blasts that any of them had ever experienced.

The first was Thor Fjord, a male draugr barbarian. Given his choice of name as well as his race, it was clear that Thor valued the rich Viking lore and history of Scandinavia. Appearance wise, Thor had grayish skin that had some minor cracks here and there, long and straight fiery red hair that was for the most part kept in place by his winged helm that he wore. The winged helm, which reached halfway down his neck, was black with golden trim, and it even had a red hair ponytail sticking out (the ponytail was décor on the helm, not Thor's hair itself).

He wore a black plate body over a long-sleeved brilliantly shining chainmail shirt, a large pair of leather gloves that reached halfway up his forearms, a pair of chainmail leggings that matched the shirt, elbow and knee guards, a sturdy-looking pair of boots, a red flowing cape, and a large kite shield on his left arm; the arm went through a leather strip that helped fasten the shield to his arm as the hand gripped a handle on the inside. Casually hanging from a loop on Thor's right side was an awesome looking Warhammer.

The second was Perseus Olympus, a male cyclops tank. He had fair skin, shoulder-length messy black hair covered by his Spartan-style helm, and his single large eye was a piercing shade of orange. He wore a shimmering red silken shirt under a bronze-colored plate body, a Spartan armored skirt over a pair of leggings, Spartan style sandals, he carried an Aspis shield of some sort of metal on his left arm and, from his right side, hung a magnificent Xiphos sword that had a blade of at least two and a half feet. It was clear that Perseus favored Ancient Greece.

The third was Kurama Kyubi, a male Kitsune ninja. He looked much like a humanoid fox with golden fur, although what made Kurama stand out was the fact that his character had nine tails. Kurama wore a dark blue cloth headband with a metal plate over the forehead area, a men's kimono top under a sleeveless haori longcoat, men's kimono leggings that matched the top, a pair of han kote, a pair of suneate, a pair of tabi socks inside zori sandals, and holstered on his right side was a long dagger. Out of all of the guys who had logged on, it was clear that Kurama was the only one who embraced their Japanese heritage.

The fourth was Pierre Jean Luc, a male gargoyle swordsman. He looked relatively human, aside from his purplish-gray skin, the pair of little curved horns poking out from his forehead, and his wings that were currently folded up. He had long somewhat wavy black hair, he wore a black cavalier hat with a large golden-colored plume feather sticking out from the rich purple brim that was around the base, an exquisite black with golden details sleeveless vest over a white long-sleeved dress shirt with the sleeves puffing up a bit at the ends, a pair of leggings that matched the vest, spurred boots that reached halfway up his shins, and hanging from his right side was an epic rapier with a blade that was wide enough to make it effective at both thrusting and slashing. The air that Pierre gave off was a testament to how the gargoyle romanticized the kingly era of France's history.

The fifth and final player to meet Momonga and Anubis in the meeting room was Roberto el Muerte, a male chupacabra gunslinger. He had tanned skin but not quite like Anubis's, black hair that reached halfway down his neck, and he wore a wide-brimmed sombrero, a cloth poncho that was black with thin stripes of red, white and green over a durable long-sleeved shirt, a pair of soft brown leather gloves, armored leggings, a pair of spurred boots that gave off a different air than those of Pierre's, and on each hip was holstered a fairly large one-handed gun, which are rather rare to see in the setting of YGGDRASILL. But Roberto, having fallen for the beauty of the romanticized image of Mexico from the past, had his heart set on modeling himself into as much of a bandito as he could attain.

These five guys who had just teleported into the meeting room, with all that they wore and had equipped being divine class items, together with Anubis made up a subgroup in the forty-one members of Ainz Oowl Gown known as the World Heritage Lords. Momonga was mildly happy when just Herohero was with him earlier, and would have been content to having just that if it was all that he would get. But being joined by all of the World Heritage Lords, a total of six of his old friends, just now made his heart leap with joy.

It was Perseus who first spotted where his leader in the guild was standing. "Hey boss, you seem like you were planning on getting our guild weapon down." The cyclops crossed his arms over his chest, although that gesture plus his tone made it clear that he was casually amused. "I'm going to assume that you were planning to carry it around during the final hours that the game severs are up? You know, feel like a true overlord of Nazarick?"

"Heh, heh," Momonga laughed a bit nervously, even letting out an embarrassed emote. "Well, I figured that since today is the final day that the game would be up, I might as well have at least a little bit of fun. I thought that the others would be willing to forgive me for doing what I wanted, just for today."

Kurama held his right hand out in a casual gesture to his leader and friend. "There is no need to feel embarrassed, Momonga-san. I believe that you're on to something. Personally, I'd be okay with you acting like a true ruler of the great tomb, and carrying our guild weapon, the symbol of all that we have done together, around until the very end would very much help sell the image that you're trying to project." Kurama nodded once in a confirming manner. "However, it simply would not do if you made your way alone."

"He's right, Momonga," Thor remarked, "If you would, allow us to accompany you. We do have much to catch up on, you know." The other World Heritage Lords all confirmed that the draugr had things right on the money.

Momonga, though his in-game self didn't show it, was tearing up, touched that so many of his old guild mates and friends (he honestly wasn't counting on as many as six showing up) wanted to follow him, stick by him until the very end. "You…you guys…" Although his in-game self didn't show how touched he was, the sound of Momonga's voice told the others that their show of friendship meant a great deal to the overlord player.

Turning around, Momonga plucked the Staff of Ainz Oowl Gown out of its cubby and, with the symbol of the guild in hand, led his fellow guild members out of the meeting room and over to where the throne room was located.

When the seven friends made their way down the stairs, they were greeted by a group of NPCs that some of their guild mates had made. This group consisted of a male butler and six female maids; whereas the butler looked like what one would expect, the maids all had varying looks. The maids also had parts of their outfits made to suggest that they would see use in combat. "Ah yes, the last line of defense to guard the throne room from invading players," Roberto remarked.

Momonga pulled up a menu to check a few things, mostly the names of the NPCs. "…Oh, his name is Sebas." Looking at the six maids that were with Sebas, Momonga went on, "And these are the Pleiades combat maids. You're right about how these guys are the last line of defense to guard the throne room from invading players, Roberto." Closing the menu he had up, Momonga turned to face the chupacabra gunslinger. "Not, of course, that any invading player made it far enough to warrant Sebas and the Pleiades having to actually see any use."

Thor let out a mildly amused chuckle. "The furthest that any invading force ever got before being beaten was the eighth floor, I believe."

"That's right, Thor," Momonga replied when he turned to face his barbarian friend. Turning back to face Sebas and the Pleiades, the overlord considered them for a moment. "…It seems a shame that they never got to do anything, though." Turning back to face his six friends that were all with him, Momonga said, "I think that we should move them around one last time. All those that are in favor, say aye."

All six of the World Heritage Lords voted in agreement to move Sebas and the Pleiades around. Happy that his friends saw things the way he did, Momonga issued a command to the AI that ran the NPCs, making all of them follow him and his guild mates to the throne room. The group made their way to the large ornate double-doors that led into the throne room. The doors opened of their own accord when the party approached, revealing a magnificent room with chandeliers that hung in a row leading from the door to the throne at the back of the room.

Along the wall hung flags that each bore a different symbol. Each flag represented a different member of Ainz Oowl Gown. The guild members, aside from Momonga who had his focus on the throne at the end, had a bit of fun looking for and identifying their respective flags as they and the NPCs walked to the throne at the end of the room. They soon made their way over, where they were greeted by the sight on another guild NPC that was stationed at the throne.

A beautiful female with fair skin, long raven-black hair, and a pair of somewhat big, curved horns, each one coming out one side of her head but curving around her forehead to almost touch each other at the tips. She wore a pure-white silken dress with a spider web-style décor covering her shoulders and chest. She also had on a beautiful pair of long silken gloves that went well with her dress, and she had a white with gold trim cloth choker around her neck. On her waist, oddly enough, were a notable pair of black feathery angel wings. The NPC was a true beauty, on which one of the guild members had to comment on.

"Oh, this is the NPC that Tabula-san made, if I recall correctly," Pierre remarked, "What was her name again?"

"Albedo," Momonga remarked as he walked up the steps to the throne, giving the name of the NPC, "And yes, Tabula did create her." Sebas and the Pleiades, who waited at the base of the steps, stood by on Momonga's command as the World Heritage Lords walked up the steps to stand at their guild leader's side. The overlord turned his attention to Albedo, gave her a moment of consideration.

Curious about her settings, Momonga pulled them up; Albedo was the strongest NPC in Nazarick, supervising all of the guardian NPCs. Momonga found and scrolled through a royal load of background flavor text. "Geez, this is long!" Momonga remarked aloud, "Tabula-san really liked to put a lot of detail into his creations, though. I think he was the only one who did more in this regard than you, Kurama-san."

The kitsune ninja let out a sarcastically bemused 'hmph' as he let out a dry expression emote. "Well some of us do like to tell a story, Momonga-sa-"

"Huh?" The overlord's cry of mild confusion cut Kurama off, making him and the others turn to regard their leader. "…Oh you've got to be kidding me," Momonga remarked in a dry, bemused tone, "Tabula-san made Albedo a bitch."

Some of the others let out unsurprised chuckles, with Roberto gesturing to Momonga. "Well that crazy idiot did have a thing for contradictions in looks and personality." Letting off a dry emote, the chupacabra remarked, "But that's just too terrible."

Looking from the menu to the Staff of Ainz Oowl Gown, Momonga said, "…You know, normally a tool is needed to make changes to settings, but I have this so I can circumvent that need." The guild leader looked to his fellow members for a moment. "…You guys think that Tabula-san would mind it too much if I changed Albedo's settings to just replace the part that makes her a bitch?"

"Given that today is the last day that the game will be up, I'm certain that Tabula-san would allow it," Pierre remarked, "Personally, I'd vote to fix that blemish in such a beauty." The other five of the World Heritage Lords all agreed that fixing the part in Albedo's bio that made her a bitch was okay, especially considering that this was the last day the game would be up, so there would feasibly be no harm in the long term.

Going on ahead, Momonga used the Staff to begin making changes to Albedo's bio, deleting just the line that said she was a bitch. "She is deeply…" Momonga said aloud as he typed up a new line, "…In love…with Momonga."

"Oh ho, ho!" Anubis laughed with amusement, "That's pretty bold, buddy."

Laughing in agreement, Momonga said, "I know, I'm such a dork." Saving the changes and closing the menus, Momonga then ordered the NPCs to bow down, figuring that, given that he and his friends were the creators of Nazarick that they should get to bathe in a feeling of glory in the final moments of YGGDRASILL. Momonga was the center of this, sitting in the throne as his friends stood on either side, three per side. On the left going out from the throne were Thor, Perseus and Pierre; on the right going out from the throne were Anubis, Kurama and Roberto.

Momonga, leaning back a bit, looked up at the flags that each represented a different member of Ainz Oowl Gown. Pointing at each flag, Momonga said aloud the name of the guild member that the flag in question represented as he went through them; by the time he was done, the overlord had ended on Genjiro. The overlord let out a mildly troubled, resigned sigh when he had finished going through the names of all of his old friends. However, his troubled feelings were tempered by the presence of six said friends, all of them having said that they would join Momonga in his plan to stay logged on until the very end, at which point they would be automatically logged off by the game servers.

"I need to crash as soon as the servers shut down," Momonga remarked, "Or I'll be a proverbial zombie at work tomorrow." The guild leader looked around to his friends. "…What about all of you guys?"

"I'm actually off for the next few days," Perseus remarked, "I got my hours in for this week, so now I got time off. I guess I'll have time to find a new DMMO-RPG. Maybe I can find one with a strong Ancient Greece slash Ancient Rome theme. That would be totally sick."

The other World Heritage Lords all remarked that they were similarly free; the family that employed Thor was gearing up to go on vacation meaning that Thor's work load would be very much eased up, the autistic children's academy that Kurama taught at was having a holiday break, and Roberto was actually required to use some of his paid vacation time, which he had started earlier that day. The chupacabra said that he and his IRL boyfriend (yes, Roberto is gay) had some special plans tomorrow.

Their plans having been stated, the members of Ainz Oowl Gown looked up at the flags that hung in the throne room as they all kept an eye on the clock in the upper corner of their respective views. By that point, the time read as 23:59:55, meaning that there would only be five more seconds to go. The remaining seconds ticked away, with the seven friends saying that they ought to meet up at some point IRL. That was the last thing any of them said before the time in the upper corner reached the final second.

A second clock, which started from zero seconds and kept counting up second by second, started up, unbeknownst to Momonga and his guild mates. The members of Ainz Oowl Gown all noticed right away that they were still (supposedly) in the game. "Did…did they push back the shutdown of the game servers?" Momonga asked aloud rhetorically.

Acting methodically, Pierre tried to bring up his console. "…My console won't come up, guys." There was a hint of panicked worry in the gargoyle's tone.

"I can't contact a GM or call anyone," Roberto remarked, sounding similarly as panicked as his fellow guild mate.

Getting up from his throne in something of a rush, Momonga was also alarmed, similar to all of his friends that were with him. "What is going on?!" the overlord exclaimed. It was as the seven members of the guild were starting to panic that all of them stopped upon hearing a female voice call out to them.

"What's wrong, my lords?"

Confused, Momonga and his friends all turned to face the direction the question came from. As such, they all saw Albedo, who is an NPC, looking at them. There was clear worry on her face, something that they noted was off right away for an NPC. Tilting her head to the side, Albedo once again spoke, an action that, in and of itself, set off a few alarms in the heads of the present members of the guild.

"My lords?" Albedo spoke in a confused tone that carried a hint of concerned worry. "My lords, what's wrong? Is everything alright?" The lead guardian got up from her kneeling position, walked up to Momonga himself. "Is there a problem?" Albedo looked up at the leader of the guild, holding her hands together as she held them close to her chest, pushing up her 'assets' to some degree without even knowing that she was making one of her 'lords' somewhat flustered. A green flash of light surrounded Momonga, and then he had calmed down enough.

The overlord looked down to his right hand, an air of contemplation coming off of him. "Hmm, the GM call function isn't working."

Momonga's remark elicited confusion from Albedo. "Forgive me, Lord Momonga, but I have no idea of this 'GM Call' magic that you speak of."

Thor patted Momonga on the shoulder, getting his attention. "Dude, her mouth was moving as she spoke to you," the draugr barbarian whispered to Momonga.

Momonga nodded in agreement, having noticed that part as well; all that it did was serve as further fuel to the fire that was the confusion that Momonga and his friends all shared. He thought that some manner of error was occurring. That just had to be the answer. Momonga let go of the Staff of Ainz Oowl Gown, which proceeded to float away a few feet from its wielder going out, not up.

"Well, that still works just like the game," Momonga thought, "But what should the guys and I do about our situation?" Looking over to where Sebas and the Pleiades were still kneeling, Momonga thought if he could give them some orders, just like in the game. "…Sebas, step out of the tomb and confirm our surroundings," Momonga said, his words bringing the attention of the NPCs right to him.

However, Momonga and his friends had all the reason to believe that the NPCs weren't simple NPCs anymore. That was made apparent when Sebas replied, "Right away, Lord Momonga." This alerted Momonga and his friends because Sebas just understood and was going to carry out an order that wasn't recognized by the game engine. This was further strengthened when Momonga ordered the Pleiades to go to the ninth floor to guard from any possible intruders.

The members of Ainz Oowl Gown knew that they had to contact a GM somehow, but none of them had any idea on how to do that. It was as they were trying to think of what to do that Albedo got their attention. "Do you have any orders for me, my lords?"

Momonga, seeing Albedo, got an idea that he was fairly certain his friends would call him out on, but if what he thought was true then they would get a GM's attention without a doubt. "Albedo, come here," the overlord commanded. Albedo, with a bit of an amused schoolgirl's giggle, practically skipped over to her lord that called her to him. He said that he was going to touch her, drawing surprised looks and remarks out of the World Heritage Lords.

They calmed down when all that Momonga did was gently grab Albedo by her wrist, looking as if he was checking for a pulse. Speaking of, and to Momonga's surprise, Albedo did have a pulse. She also gave of a scent, which further surprised Momonga as scent functions did not exist back in YGGDRASILL. There was one last test that Momonga, despite not actually wanting to do so, felt he had to in order to make absolute sure that he and his friends were still in the game.

He asked Albedo if he could touch her chest.

"Damn, dude! You're going for the gold now, aren't you?!" Anubis exclaimed, a clear laugh of amusement in his tone. The others all had varying levels of disapproval, although when Kurama pointed out that doing an action like touching a female character's chest would automatically get a GM's attention as 18-only actions like that were a big no-no in YGGDRASILL, saw some the logic in what their leader was going to do.

Albedo, to everyone's surprise, was more than eager to let Momonga grope her. Thusly, but with notable hesitation, Momonga proceeded to gently touch Albedo's 'assets'. As he 'tested' what was going on, Momonga thought that if he could get away with an 18-only action like this and not be auto-booted by a GM meant that it couldn't have been YGGDRASILL, as well as the odds of this being a new DMMO-RPG being nonexistent. To his shock, Momonga thought that the world that he and his friends found themselves in was not only real, but very-

"Dude, how long are you going to have fun?" Roberto asked Momonga in a dry tone, snapping the overlord back out of his thoughts and making him realize that he was still groping Albedo this whole time. Out of shock, Momonga let go, although the blushing expression that was on Albedo's face, as well as her labored breathing, were signs that she didn't mind what her lord was doing in the slightest.

Momonga, somewhat stammering, gave Albedo an apology. …Or rather, he tried to, but was stopped when Albedo cut him off. "Ooh, you're going to take me for the first time here and now, Lord Momonga? What should I do about my clothes? Should I take them off first or would you rather take them off of me yourself?" Momonga leaned back with his hands held up in a defensive manner, a clear sign that he was flustered. The other members of the guild all looked on in surprise at the now-alive NPC, save for Anubis who was laughing his ass off.

Getting Albedo to stop, Momonga said, "Albedo, we, uhh, don't have time for that now. There are more important things to take care of." Right away, Albedo backed off, a look of worry on her face as she apologized for her actions that were stated by one of her lords to be a bother. Momonga held up a hand in a gesture to get Albedo to stop and calm down. "It's okay, you are forgiven." Lowering his hand, Momonga said, "More importantly, I have an order for you."

Albedo stood at attention, ready to receive the command from one of her lords. "Other than the fourth and eighth floor guardians," Momonga began, "Gather all the floor guardians and have them come to the stadium on the sixth floor for me. Have them gather in an hour from now."

The overseer of the guardians nodded respectfully to the leader of the guild. "As you wish, Lord Momonga." Getting up from her bowing, Albedo turned around and took her leave, leaving the members of the guild be. When Albedo was out of sight, Momonga called the Staff of Ainz Oowl Gown to him; it floated right to his grasp on his will. The overlord was feeling rather guilty, given that he had dirtied an NPC made by one of his friends.

Speaking of this to those who were present, Pierre pointed out that there was no way any of them could have predicted the situation all of them found themselves in at the moment, saying that they'll cross that bridge when they all get to it. Knowing that they had stuff to do, the members of the guild all teleported to the sixth floor, where the stadium was located. They were expecting to meet more of the (now alive) NPCs that populated Nazarick in the stadium, so they figured that they might as well get going.

All seven of the guys that were now stuck in a world just like YGGDRASILL to an extent found themselves in a hallway that was part of the stadium located on the sixth floor. They all looked to identical rings that they all wore, gold numbers that had red stones set in them, with each stone having the image of the guild's symbol in it. "So the teleportation function of the rings work, just like it did in the game," Thor remarked.

Momonga nodded in agreement with his fellow guild member. "At the very least, we can still use our items." Momonga led the group to a gate that led into the arena of the stadium. "Albedo and the others are still loyal to us, just like they were set to be. But I can't help but wonder how it will work for the other NPCs in our guild."

"Oh, speaking of," Anubis began, "Should I gather the NPCs that I made?" The other World Heritage Lords all asked the same question, reminding Momonga that all of them had made at least one NPC each; Roberto made two, Anubis made three, and Kurama made four. They got away with this because they shelled out for the necessary data; Kurama actually had a habit of when he shelled out for increased data for the guild, he ended up getting more than what he was actually needing, so the excess was left up for grabs. Usually, Tabula would not only burn up that excess, but on at least two occasions burnt up all extra data, and would have to shell out for more data for the guild.

Momonga nodded in the affirmative, knowing that the World Heritage Lords between the six of them had a fairly diverse collection of NPCs, and having all of them around with the guardians would help speed up the process of the business that had to be covered. Giving their respect to their guild leader, the World Heritage Lords used their respective Rings of Ainz Oowl Gown to teleport off to various areas of Nazarick, leaving Momonga to his duties alone.

Walking into the arena, the overlord looked around. "The dark elf twins that Chagama-chan created should be the guardians of this floor." As he wondered around and wondered aloud, Momonga turned somewhat when he heard an excited, young female voice laugh out. Looking over, Momonga saw a young dark elf child land in the arena.

This young dark elf was Aura who, despite the clearly male outfit, was actually a girl; she had golden-blonde hair, her left and right eyes were blue and green respectively, and she wore a reddish long-sleeved shirt that had a scale pattern under a white vest, a pair of pants that matched the vest, a pair of brown shoes that had faded gold plating on the toe areas, and a simple gold chain necklace that had an acorn charm.

Momonga was about to greet Aura, but she ran right up to him somewhat excitedly. "Welcome to the floor that Mare and I guard, Lord Momonga!" The excitement in the dark elf girl's tone was quite clear.

Holding up a hand, Momonga gestured for Aura to take pause. "I will only be intruding here for a short while, Aura."

Aura let out a bit of a chuckle. "What do you mean, my lord? This is the Great Tomb of Nazarick, and you are the supreme ruler. There is no way that you could ever be considered as intruding here, my lord."

"Well that is reassuring to hear," Momonga replied, "I hope the same courtesy will be extended to the World Heritage Lords when they arrive."

Suddenly, Aura let out a surprised gasp that made it clear that she sounded like her day was being made. "You mean to tell me that more of the Supreme Beings are going to come here to the stadium, Lord Momonga?"

The overlord nodded once in the affirmative. "Yes. All six of the World Heritage Lords. They are busy gathering those who they have respectively personally created, but when they are done they will all come with those they created."

Aura's expression lit up even more. "Then that means that Mare and I will see the mummy maid sisters created by Lord Anubis! The nekomata butler twins and Sasuke who were all made by Lord Kurama! Ricochet Paco who was made by Lord Roberto! And this is saying nothing of the World Heritage combat maids!"

"It's quite a cast, I'll grant you that," Momonga remarked, "And they aren't the only ones who will be coming. I'm also having Albedo retrieve the floor guardians aside from those from the fourth and eighth floors."

At that mention, Aura pouted a bit. "Aww, does that mean that Shalltear is coming, too?"

"Yes, and this is for an important reason." Momonga's words made Aura stop her complaining. Looking around, Momonga remarked, "Say, where's Mare?"

Sighing in a knowing tone, Aura turned and shouted for Mare to come over. A timid-sounding male voice called out in response, but Aura just shouted back that he get over here pronto. After a few seconds, a male dark elf about the same height at Aura came down from the balcony that Aura herself had jumped down from earlier. Landing, the dark elf boy came running over in the direction that Momonga and Aura were in.

This was Mare, Aura's twin brother. Despite being a boy, he was dressed like a girl, completely the opposite of his twin sister. His long-sleeved scale-patterned shirt was blue rather than red, he wore a pleated skirt rather than pants and the skirt only reached halfway down his thighs, he wore white gloves and a pair of white stockings, a pair of red boots that nearly reached his knees, and he carried with him a simple looking staff that looked to be made from the gnarled branch of some random tree. As Mare ran, a short cape that looked to be made from leaves that he wore moved around bit with his stereotypically girly running.

When he finally reached Momonga and Aura, he bowed respectfully to the former. "S-sorry for making you wait, my lord," Mare said.

The overlord held up a hand to cut off the apology. "No need to worry, Mare," Momonga said, "More so, I came here for a very important reason."

"Hey, Momonga!" Anubis's voice called out, making Momonga and the dark elf twins turn and see Anubis and the other WHLs come walking into the arena, followed by a group of various NPCs that, much like the others thus far, are now living beings. Seeing six more of the 'Supreme Beings' as they were called by the (now living) NPCs enter the arena made Aura and Mare both tense up. After all, they were graced by the presence of so many of the exalted ones.

The WHLs weren't alone, as previous said, since they brought some of the inhabitants of Nazarick with them. This included a pair of female maids that had white cloth wrappings around their arms, legs and necks, a pair of male butlers that had tuffs of hair that resembled cat ears sticking up, a tall red-skinned demonic-looking warrior wearing a full samurai armor set, and another male butler who looked like a young adult male, but had something of a generic air about him. All of those were following the WHLs.

"It turns out that the Pleiades maids found the World Heritage maids and roped them into helping out with their assignment," Perseus remarked. Giving a shrug, the cyclops remarked, "Oh well. I guess we'll get them all later."

"Fair enough," Momonga remarked. Randomly, Momonga tried to use the Message skill again, and to his surprise, it put him in contact with Sebas. Deciding just to roll with it, Momonga said, "How does it look out there, Sebas?"

"There's something of a problem, my lord," the head butler replied. There was an ever so slight hint of worry in Sebas's tone; Momonga, given the situation that he as well as the WHLs found themselves in at the moment, was able to pick up on that hint of worry right away.

The overlord hummed once in acknowledgement. "Very well. I've called many of the people of Nazarick to gather in the stadium on the sixth floor, so you can come here and report to us what you have seen."

"Of course, Lord Momonga," Sebas replied in a dutiful tone before communication was cut. After that, Momonga looked over to where the WHLs, their respective (and now living) NPCs and the dark elf twins were gathered. Aura and Mare were both showing the WHLs the utmost respect, as if the six friends of Momonga that had been transported with him were literal gods that stood before them. The NPCs that were made by the WHLs were likewise respectful to the very beings that created them.

It was as Momonga observed this that a portal appeared in the stadium of the sixth floor arena, a portal that Momonga recognized as a Gate portal that is used to allow travel over vast distances in very little time. Stepping out of the portal was a young-looking, pale skinned girl in a gothic Lolita outfit; she had long white hair that was put up, piercing red eyes and she carried with her an umbrella that helped to tie her gothic Lolita appearance together quite well.

As she stepped through the portal, the girl who had just arrived remarked, "Oh my, I wouldn't happen to be the first to arrive, am I?" Momonga recognized this girl right away as Shalltear Bloodfallen, a true vampire. She was an NPC created by Peroroncino, one of Momonga's old friends back in the heyday of Ainz Oowl Gown. Originally, Shalltear was made to guard the first, second and third floors of Nazarick, but due to circumstances, Momonga had no idea what to do with…pretty much anyone or anything right now.

It was as the overlord was thinking that other NPCs of Nazarick, now alive like Shalltear, began showing up in the arena. The first to arrive was Cocytus, an eight-foot-tall vermin lord with a pale blue body of natural armor; he also had four arms, one of which held a magnificent halberd, large iceberg-like protrusions coming out of his back, and he also had a long tail that had icicle-like spikes at the end. Momonga remembered that Cocytus was made by another of his old guild mates and friends, Warrior Takemikazuchi; he had made Cocytus to be the very definition of the word 'warrior', with a slight hint leaning towards 'samurai retainer' from what Momonga was seeing for himself.

When Cocytus had shown up, Aura and Shalltear were getting into a little spat because Aura was calling Shalltear out for trying to get up close and cozy with Momonga. "The both of you are acting like children in front of the Supreme Beings," Cocytus scolded the two female floor guardians as he walked up, "Stop your foolish bickering!" Aura and Shalltear were ignoring the vermin lord, who decided to slam the end of his halberd's shaft into the ground, creating a floor of ice that spread out towards the girls, distracting them.

After the girls had settled down, a male voice called out to everyone, "Sorry for taking so long, supreme ones. Please forgive me for keeping you all waiting for as long as I had." Momonga and his fellow guild mates looked up and saw Albedo lead a male NPC into the arena; this new fellow had slightly tanned skin, long pointed ears not quite unlike what the dark elf twins had, a long tail that had silvery plates covering it, and slicked back black hair.

This new NPC also wore a red long-sleeved suit top with very thin vertical yellow lines, a pair of matching dress pants, black dress shoes, black gloves, a white undershirt with a red tie, and a pair of small, circular glasses. All in all, this new NPC had a very intelligent look about him. This one was recognized by Momonga as Demiurge, an arch-devil NPC created by Ulbert Alain Odle, one of the old members of Ainz Oowl Gown. The demon was created to be the guardian of the seventh floor of Nazarick.

After all of those NPCs had gathered, Momonga stood before all of them, with Anubis, Perseus, Thor, Kurama, Roberto and Pierre joining him to stand in front of the NPCs of Nazarick. All of the gathered denizens of the Great Tomb soon bowed before the seven supreme beings that stood before them. One by one, all of the NPCs had pledged their fidelity to the seven supreme beings.

Momonga, as well as his six friends that were transported with him, were still not exactly sure as to what the hell was going on, but one thing was clear to all of them; they were going to find out one way or another. And with a legion of (now living) NPCs that were all fanatically loyal to them, as well as the resources of one of the absolute top guilds that ever existed in the game that they had come from, the seven supreme beings had no shortage of supplies to help them figure out just what to do going forward.

They would get their answers, one way or another.

END, CHAPTER ONE

Author's notes;

Well, I'm actually doing this. I'm doing an Overlord AU story. Sure, the idea of 'at least one other supreme being getting trapped in the new world with everyone's favorite bone daddy Momonga' has been done before, but given the potential of the idea, there is no shortage of fresh takes on the concept. Anyway, this AU is based mostly off of the anime of the series proper, although I will use other sources if need be to help fill in some gaps.

Speaking of filling in gaps, one of the main reasons I'm doing this is because I'm getting bored waiting for season four to come out, so I'm doing this to help sate my need for Overlord content. But that's getting off subject. Anyway, due to the nature of this AU story, mainly due to the six extra supreme beings and various NPCs that they had respectively created, things will be going down in various different manners compared to the anime of the series proper.

For example, the pledge of fidelity ritual that the guardians did, although not skipped in full, was condensed down considerably to save time. The fight between the primal fire elemental and the dark elf twins was skipped entirely, although Momonga will still get his time to have fun using his magic (savior of Carne Village, anyone?). The new supreme beings, as well as the NPCs that they respectively created, will have various interactions with Momonga and the characters that already exist. And those are just a few examples.

Anywho, the next chapter will focus on the guardians and other NPCs, as well as shed some more light on those created by the WHLs, and generally kickstart a certain plot that we are all familiar with. Speaking of those created by the WHLs, the group of NPCs called the World Heritage maids will start showing up as well, and they, by their mere presence in the story, will help to shape things in a way that even I cannot exactly predict at the moment.
