Human Error: Sins of Man

Chapter 1

The cold Sacramento air bit at Ethan's face as he stepped outside of his Humvee, his eyes staring at the largest building he had ever seen; belonging to Microsoft. Here, men and women each having varying degrees of importance, worked tirelessly to patch broken updates, and releases of rushed upgrades that did more harm then good. As Bill Gates had stepped down, the company was in chaos, in fact it was in a worse state of turmoil than Apple which while technically superior, hated Windows users with a passion that burned like Hydrochloric acid. Of course, this was routine and Users quickly learned to accept it, burying their white hot anger in other pursuits.

This did little to dim Ethan's Spirits and he strolled into the building and was guided to his office, whereupon his Jaw dropped and he had to be dragged to his actual workstation, a decidedly less appealing Grey and brown cubicle where he was forced to work upon the so called "trainee's computer", a 486 reserved for those that may not make it. It was here that Ethan met Pauline, a Hot tempered AI that had no patience for novices and grilled Ethan on the Use of ARM processing, X64 code and the usage and implementation of HTML5 until his brain ached and his arms resembled jelly. "STAND UP STRAIGHT! STOP SLACKING!" she yelled through the speaker, causing him to stiffen up like a plank of Oak wood. Another worker came in and turned to Ethan, "you'll get a better AI tomorrow, she's still addicted to Legacy code"

he said before turning in for the night. As Ethan left for the day, Pauline's eyes locked onto him

and she set her plans into motion
