Stefan looked at her.

"How long do we have?" he asked.

"Less than an hour," she replied. "I betrayed them, so they are going to be furious."

"Do they think Lucinda is here?" asked Stefan.

"Yes," said Lilith. "I told them to come here. They will bring their best fighters. We must be prepared."

"That will take the pressure off Serana and Lucinda," said Stefan. "Good thinking Lilith."

She nodded her head in gratitude.

"We also have some vantage points for Valeria to rain arrows on them," said Lilith. She stood back and looked the building up and down. "I take it she is here."

She looked back at Stefan as she asked this.

"Yes," replied Stefan. "Let me just go wake her."

"Very good my Lord," said Lilith. "I'll wait out here."

"No you will not," replied Stefan. "Come in and make yourself comfortable."

Lilith smile at his gratitude, she entered the building as he closed the door. She perched herself at the squashy armchair by the fire. Puffs of dust emerged as she sat upon it. She raised her hands and held them against the fire as Stefan ascended the stairs.

He reached Valeria's bedroom door and knocked on it gently.

"Are you awake?" he asked.

"Enter," replied a sleepy voice from inside the room.

Stefan turned the door knob and entered the room. Valeria looked up at him, her bright red eyes fogged with sleep.

"Sorry honey," he said. "Did I wake you?"

"Not at all father," replied Valeria.

She sat up slowly. Stefan walked over to the window and looked out of it. His lack of reflection no longer surprised him. Furthermore, Valeria's lack of reflection didn't faze him either.

"Did you sleep well?" asked Stefan watching the sun setting.

"Intermittently," replied Valeria.

"Same for me," replied Stefan. "I think I miss your mother."

Valeria chuckled.

"I think she misses you too," replied Valeria.

He turned to look at his daughter.

"How many arrows do you have Valeria?" he asked.

"Not many," replied Valeria. "Less than half a dozen I would say."

Stefan nodded.

"Okay," he replied. "I will take you to the armoury in a moment. Take as many as you can. They're not silver, but you will need them."

"Why father?" asked Valeria puzzled. "What's happened?"

He turned to look at his daughter.

"They are coming Valeria," he said seriously.

"The werewolves?" asked Valeria. She already knew, but she wanted to make sure.

"Yes," he said. "They found us."

"How many?" asked Valeria pulling on her boots.

"Many," said Stefan. "They think Lucinda is here."

"But she is in Whiterun," replied Valeria flattening her hair.

"Indeed she is," said Stefan. "But they don't know that."

He was silent for a moment.

"They cannot see you Valeria," said Stefan. "They have sent their best fighters to capture your sister. They believe you are Lucinda. The more we can defeat here, the less can pursue your sister and mother. Are you clear?"

Valeria nodded. Her long hair shaking as she nodded.

"Very good," said Stefan. "Now let's find you some arrows."

He held out his hand for his daughter to follow him. Valeria got up and followed her father out of her bedroom and along the corridor. He led her towards the stairs but made a left turn. There was a small door that was hidden in the shadows. She could only just make it out as they approached it.

He turned the lock. It clicked. He pushed open the door and revealed a room larger than it looked from the outside. Stefan lit the torches and fire illuminated the room. Valeria gasped softly.

"Wow," she gasped looking around.

Every kind of weapon imaginable could be seen. Swords, axes, maces, hammers everything. Not only every weapon but every variety. Steel, Iron, Daedric, Dragonbone and Ebony.

"You have enough weapons here to invade a small country," joked Valeria.

"Well," said Stefan. "It's always best to prepared. You never know."

He pointed to a barrel of Daedric arrows. Valeria quickly counted. There were close to a hundred at least.

"They're not silver," said Stefan. "But I hope that's enough."

"That's more than enough father," replied Valeria. "Thank you."

He patted her on the back and turned to leave the room. She smiled at her father. He left the armoury and his footsteps followed him down the stairs. Valeria began sifting through the arrows. Some of them had been damaged or worn since the passing of time. Some of them had rusted. She remembered that rust was home to the Tetanus pathogen. She could infect some of the mortal thralls that the werewolves brought with them.

She gathered up the rusty arrows and threw them into the pile she was making at the door. After several minutes, she had as many as she could carry. She picked up the bushel she was carrying and carried down the stairs. She picked up her quiver and filled it with the arrows she found in the armoury.

"That's a lot of arrows Valeria," said Lilith.

Valeria jumped. She hadn't expected to see Lilith in the house.

"Quite," replied Valeria. "I don't want to miss do I?"

"Don't worry," said Lilith. "Me and your father can handle them. You just get to a high place and rain arrows on them."

Valeria nodded.

"Don't worry honey," said Stefan. He emerged from the garden carrying a dangerously sharp Dragonbone sword. It glinted in the moonlight. "Just try not to hit me or Lilith."

Valeria giggled.

"Okay father," she said.

He pulled his daughter close to him and hugged her tightly.

"My Lord," said Lilith getting up. "I will check on their progress."

She made her way to the door.

"Be ready upon my return," she said.

He nodded. Valeria also nodded. Lilith gestured her head and opened the door. She crept out into the night, towards the road.
