Kyouka shivered from the cold as she was soaking wet. How did she get in this situation exactly? Well she had decided to make a surprise visit to her parents that day, so she took a trip back to Shizuoka. Once she arrived and left the station though, there was a sudden downpour and she didn't have an umbrella on hand.
Luckily for her, one Midoriya Izuku had also decided to return to Shizuoka to visit his mother that day and he had the foresight to bring an umbrella with him. Surprised to see each other, Izuku offered her refuge at his place until the rain stopped since it was closer. Not wanting to stay in the rain any longer, Kyouka didn't hesitate to accept the offer.
So here she was, standing in the middle of the Midoriya apartment trying to keep warm. And where exactly was the green-haired cinnamon roll? He was returning from one of the back rooms with a towel, a pair of pajama pants, and one of his All Might hoodies.
"Here," said Izuku as he held them out to Kyouka. "It's not much, but they'll help keep you warm."
"…Thank you," mumbled out the purple-haired girl, taking them off his hands.
"The bathroom is down the hall, first door on the right. Y-You can take a shower if you want."
He got a brief nod was in return as Kyouka walked passed him and went into the bathroom. Once she was inside, Izuku walked over and placed a laundry basket next to the door. He knocked to get the girl's attention.
"J-Jirou-san? There's a basket just outside the door you can put your wet c-clothes in. I can w-wash and dry them for you in you w-want."
"…Thank you, Midoriya. I really appreciate it."
She heard him walk away, most likely to give her some privacy. She stripped out of her soaked clothing and opened the door just enough so she can put them in the basket Midoriya had left. She was hesitant to put her bra and panties in the basket, but remembered that this was Midoriya she was dealing with. He wasn't a pervert like Mineta or Kaminari and was more likely to be afraid to touch them than anything. The thought brought a smile to her face.
With Izuku, once he heard the shower start, he made his way over to collect the basket full of wet clothes. He blushed brightly when he noticed the purple bra and panties on top, but did his best to focus as he grabbed the basket and went to where the washing machine was. After placing the clothes and some detergent in the machine, he went to the kitchen to make some hot tea for him and Kyouka and then went into the living room to wait for his music-loving classmate.
He didn't have to wait long as he heard the water shut off and the bathroom door open. Kyouka walked into the living room, wearing the clothes Izuku gave her, and was drying her hair with the towel. Once done, she looked over to find Midoriya sitting on the couch.
"Hey," she said as she went over and sat next to him. "Thanks again, for everything."
"You're welcome, Jirou-san," replied Izuku with a small smile. He then pushed one of the cups of tea towards her. "Here, I figured something hot to drink would help."
It was Kyouka's turn to smile slightly as she accepted the drink. "Thank you."
It was silent as the two teens sat there, tea in hand. The silence was starting to get to Kyouka, so she decided to strike up some conversation.
"So…you're from Shizuoka too, huh?"
"Born and raised," replied Izuku, turning to the girl next to him.
"Me too," said Kyouka. She then gave off a chuckle. "Who'd have guessed that we share the same hometown?"
"Y-Yeah. Quite the coincidence," stated Izuku with a chuckle of his own.
Kyouka let out a hum before looking around. "By the way, I thought you said you were visiting your mom, so where is she?"
"Knowing her, out shopping," said the green-haired boy. Seeing Kyouka raise an eyebrow in confusion, he elaborated. "Every time I call to tell her I'm coming to visit, she always makes Katsudon. Sh-She's probably out getting the ingredients and is being held up by the rain."
She watched as he rubbed the back of his head in nervousness, finding it strangely endearing.
"Hopefully she makes it back safely then," said the rocker girl. She suddenly became nervous. "Ano, sh-she's not going to freak out finding me here, will she?"
"…I hope not. I get my personality mostly from her, so I know how she'd react to finding out that I have a g-girl over. Luckily I sent her a text while you were in the shower explaining the situation, so she shouldn't freak out too much."
Kyouka had to turn away slightly to hide the blush that was building up. With the way Midoriya worded it, it gave an idea of what exactly the reaction Midoriya-san would have. She needed to get her mind off THAT subject now.
"Ano, Midoriya, not to sound rude, but is there anything we can do around here while we wait?"
"Well," started Izuku, giving it some thought. "If you want we could watch a movie?"
Kyouka gave off a smirk at that suggestion. "Cool, we can do that. So what kind of movies do you have?"
"W-Well…"
Her smirk widened as she watched the cinnamon roll fidget. "You have nothing but hero movies, don't you?"
"N-No! …Yes."
"You're such a nerd," replied the girl with a giggle.
"T-To be fair, they are movies from the Pre-Quirk Era."
Now that got Kyouka's attention. Those movies still existed?
"How'd you come across movies from the Pre-Quirk Era?" she asked.
"It wasn't easy," replied Izuku with a sigh. "It took a lot of time and effort to find them."
"Why would even look for them in the first place?"
She watched as he glanced away from her, as if he was embarrassed.
"W-Well, to be honest, I always found the Pre-Quirk Era interesting. I mean, yeah, I always come off as a Hero and Quirk fanboy, but I always wanted to know what life was like before all of that. That and, well, with how Quirkless people are treated so unfairly, most people want to pretend as if the Pre-Quirk Era never happened," stated Izuku with a frown. He then let out a sigh. "Just because Quirks didn't exist back then, doesn't mean that time period should be forgotten. It's still part of human history."
Kyouka wasn't sure why, but hearing just how passionate Midoriya was about this subject was stirring something up in her. She never wanted to see him lose that passion.
"Can we watch one of those movies then?" she asked, her tone soft like a chime.
Izuku could safely say he was surprised. With his insecurities he was expecting Jirou to laugh at him over this, but she genuinely wanted to watch these movies with him. With a nod, he stood up and made his way to his room to collect the movies. He soon came back with three DVD cases.
"I figured we'd start with my personal favorites," he said in his own soft tone as he handed them over.
She looked them over. Batman, Hellboy…Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? Okay, the last one sounded strange, but her curiosity was peaked. She handed them back over to the boy.
"So which one are we watching first?" asked the girl with a smile.
Returning the smile, Izuku popped in the first movie; Batman.
-:-
The credits were rolling. Izuku had a smile on his face he could never get enough of watching this movie. If All Might was his favorite real hero, Batman was his favorite fictional hero for obvious reasons. He turned to Jirou to see if she liked it, only to see a scowl on her face.
"J-Jirou-san?"
"…How the hell is a Pre-Quirk Era movie so much better than the crap they put out today?!"
That wasn't the response Izuku was expecting. "So you liked it then?"
"Liked it? That movie was amazing!" exclaimed the girl, turning to the boy with excitement in her eyes. Izuku actually found it pretty cute. "It kept you on edge, the ending where Batman got his revenge on Joker for his parents' deaths was perfect, and it had a great soundtrack!"
"I had a feeling you'd like the music. Pre-Quirk Era music is pretty great. I even made some CDs filled with it."
Kyouka looked at Izuku with a blank look. "You have a collection of Pre-Quirk Era music?"
Izuku blushed. "Y-Yeah, maybe I should have mentioned that earlier. You can borrow them if you want?"
That feeling she had earlier came back full force. She still wasn't sure what it was, but she knew only Izuku caused it and that she liked it. Nodding her head in excitement, she caused Izuku to chuckle at how cute she was.
It was at that moment the door opened, catching the teens' attention. They saw a stout, plump woman enter the apartment and place her umbrella in the rack. When the woman noticed the teens, she gave them a smile that reminded Kyouka greatly of the boy next to her.
"Hello, Izuku! Is this the friend you mentioned in your text?" asked the woman as the teens stood up.
"Y-Yes, Kaachan! This is Jirou Kyouka. Jirou-san, this is my mom," said Izuku, introducing the two females to each other.
"Pleased to meet you, Midoriya-san," replied Kyouka with a slight bow.
The older woman let out some giggle. "Oh, there's no need to be so formal, Kyouka-chan. You can call me Inko!"
"A-Ah! O-Okay, Inko…"
Another giggle came from Inko. "So, Kyouka-chan, since it is still raining out, would you like to join Izuku and I for dinner?"
"I…I don't want to intrude," said Kyouka, tapping her earphone jacks together in a shy manner.
"You won't be intruding, dear."
That smile that reminded Kyouka of Izuku melted the tension away from the shy girl. "Thank you for having me then, I-Inko."
"Your welcome, dear. Now why don't you two go back to what you were doing while I get started on dinner."
As Inko started dinner and checked to see if Kyouka's clothes were clean, the teens got started on the next movie; Hellboy. As the movie played, Izuku glanced over at Kyouka to see if she was enjoying this movie as much as she did the other one, only to find her looking down at her lap in disappointment.
"I-Is the movie not that great, Jirou-san?" asked Izuku, making the girl jump in surprise. "I could put in a different movie if you want."
"What? N-No, it's not that, Izuku," said Kyouka, not realizing that she used his given name. "It's just…meeting your mom reminded me of the reason I even came out today. I was planning to surprise my folks and visit them, but that went down the drain."
"O-Oh…"
"Don't get me wrong, today started off shitty because of the rain, but I still had fun thanks to you, Izuku," added Kyouka, thinking Izuku was disappointed. "But today was really the only chance I had to see them until our next real break from school."
Izuku seemed to understand that. He'd be sad too if he missed out on a chance to visit his mom. Looking over towards the window, he noticed that the rain had started letting up.
"Maybe you can still visit them," replied Izuku, getting Kyouka's attention. "The rain is finally stopping."
He was surprised when she shook her head in a no.
"I can't. I already said I would stay for dinner and with how nice your mom is, I'd feel like such a bitch if I just bailed after accepting her kind offer."
The green-haired boy then gave it some thought before coming to a conclusion.
"So why not invite your parents over here then?"
"Wh-What?" questioned Kyouka, shocked by his words. That was the one thing she wasn't expecting Izuku to say. "I c-can't do that! Wh-What would your mom say?!"
Izuku just looked at her for a moment before turning towards the kitchen. "Kaachan? Would it be okay if Jirou-san invited her parents over?"
"Of course, Izuku!" replied Inko, coming into the living room, a smile on her face. "They're more than welcomed to come over. We have more than enough Katsudon for everyone!"
While Inko went back into the kitchen, Izuku turned back to Kyouka with a cute freckled face smile as the shy rocker stared at him with wide eyes.
"Wh-What if your mom said no?" questioned Kyouka, it being the only thing coming to mind.
"You forget that she's MY mom."
That strangely made sense to Kyouka. This cinnamon roll, who doesn't have a selfish bone in his body and would help anyone he meets because of how much compassion he had, had to have inherited it from someone. And that someone just happened to be the cinnamon roll currently in the kitchen.
"…Thank you, Izuku-kun."
"You're welcome, Jirou-san."
Kyouka pulled out her cellphone and quickly typed in her home phone number. She just hoped her mom was the one to answer.
"Hello?"
And luck was on her side. "Hey, Kaasan."
"Kyouka! It's so good to hear from you! Your father and I haven't seen you in awhile. How have you been doing, sweetie?"
"I've been doing fine. Today started off bad, but it's gotten a lot better."
"Oh? What happened?"
"W-Well, I was actually planning to come by and surprise you and the old man today, but got caught in the rain when I got to Shizuoka," explained Kyouka, scared of her mom's reaction.
"Wait, you're in Shizuoka right now?! Where exactly are you?! Are you okay?!"
"I'm fine, Kaasan! One of my classmates found me and offered to let me stay at his place to get warm and dry and to wait until the rain stopped."
"Well the rain has stopped. When are you coming over?"
"Yeah, about that…"
"Kyouka…"
The shy rocker shuddered at the tone her mom used. Jirou Mika was a dangerous woman if you got on her bad side. "His mom already invited me to stay for dinner and I had already accepted. It wouldn't feel right to bail on them. But they're extending the invitation to you and the old man to come over and join us!"
"Oh?"
"Yeah. It was actually Izuku-kun's idea."
"…Very well, Kyouka. Where exactly are we meeting?"
"You know that apartment complex a few blocks north of our place? There."
"Okay then. We'll see you soo-Kyoutoku, you put that down now! Ugh. I'm sorry, sweetie, but it seems your father was listening in and isn't very happy that you're staying over at a boy's place. He found his bat."
Kyouka's face was bright red. Whether from embarrassment or anger was anyone's guess. One thing she was certain of though…she was going to kill her old man if he messed this up for her.
"I-I'll text you the address, Kaasan," replied Kyouka, trying her damnedest to stay calm. "Just…Just stop Otousan from doing something stupid."
"You know I always do, sweetie. See you soon~"
With that, Kyouka heard her mom hang up and she then quickly texted Izuku's address. With that done, she turned to Izuku.
"Izuku-kun."
"Y-Yeah?"
"An old blond guy is coming by and he'll be carrying a baseball bat. That's my old man…and I want you to knock his lights out," said Kyouka in a serious tone.
"Eh?! Wh-Why do you want me to do that?!" exclaimed Izuku in a panic.
"Because he's an embarrassing idiot!" stated Kyouka with a hiss.
"B-But I can't do that!"
"Why not?!"
"Because he's your dad!"
"But I'm giving you permission!"
The two teens then jumped when there was a sudden banging on the door.
"Open up, boy! You're going to get it for taking advantage of my little girl!"
Izuku stared at the door in fear while an embarrassed Kyouka hid her face in her hands. It was clear she was blushing up a storm if the tips of her ears were anything to go by.
Coming from the kitchen, Inko made her way towards the door, acting as if someone wasn't currently trying to break it down. Upon opening it, the blond man on the other side stopped in surprise when the short woman greeted him.
"Oh, you must be Kyouka-chan's father! Please come in. Dinner will be ready soon!"
Kyoutoku blinked in confusion before his gaze landed on the teens and he saw his daughter in a hoodie and a pair of pajama pants that were clearly not hers. His gaze turned into a glare as he turned to the green boy standing next to his daughter.
"You!"
Izuku was about to have a panic attack as Kyoutoku made his way over. Luckily for Izuku, Kyoutoku didn't come any closer as an earphone jack struck the older man from behind while another earphone jack took the bat from his loosened grip.
"Kyoutoku! You are a guest in the Midoriya's home. Now behave yourself!" demanded Mika as she stepped into the apartment, placing the baseball bat she took into the umbrella rack.
"B-But Mika!"
"Damn it, old man," said Kyouka with a hiss. "Why do you have to be like this?!"
"Why are you wearing that boy's clothes?!" demanded Kyoutoku.
"Well since my clothes were drenched thanks to the rain, Izuku-kun offered something of his for me to wear while he washed and dried my clothes," stated Kyouka in a deadpan tone. "So can you at least thank him for making sure I didn't catch a nasty cold?"
Kyoutoku grimaced at the thought of his little girl getting sick. Looking over at Izuku, the overprotective father saw that the boy was trying his hardest not to cower. Was this really the same kid who was able to go toe-to-toe with the Todoroki kid back during the Sports Festival?
Letting out a sigh, the Jirou patriarch relented. "Thanks for keeping my daughter safe, Midoriya."
"Y-You don't have to thank me, J-Jirou-san, sir. I just d-did what anyone would have done," replied Izuku.
Kyouka merely rolled her eyes. As much as she liked Izuku, he clearly overestimated other people some times. Anyone else would have ignored her just to get their own asses out of the rain.
She was glad someone like Izuku existed.
-:-
Dinner was done and eaten, the adults had conversed (with Inko and Kyoutoku embarrassing their children with baby stories), and it was soon time to leave. Izuku and Kyouka needed to catch their train so they could make it back to the dorms before curfew.
Kyouka walked down the hall, back into the living room, after having changed back into her own clothes.
"Thanks again for letting me stay here for the day, Inko," said the shy rocker.
"You're welcome, dear, though Izuku deserves most of the thanks," replied Inko with a giggle.
Kyouka could only giggle in return. It was then that she noticed someone was missing. "Hey, where's Izuku-kun?"
"I am here!" stated Izuku as he walked into the room with a bag in his hand.
Kyouka rolled her eyes at the use of All Might's catchphrase. She then raised an eyebrow at the bag.
"What's in the bag, Izuku-kun?"
She watched as he dug through it, only for him to pull out a CD case.
"I did say you can borrow my music collection whenever you wanted. So I figured I'd bring them back with us," replied Izuku with a smile. "I'm also bringing those movies since we never did get to finish our little movie marathon."
Kyouka's eyes lit up with glee. She couldn't wait to get back and listen to the sounds that were made back before Quirks existed. What made it better was that she'd get to enjoy it with the cute cinnamon roll before her!
"Now will you two be alright getting to the station on your own?" asked Mika, looking towards her daughter. "It is starting to get dark out."
"Yes, Kaasan," replied Kyouka with a sigh. "We'll be fine."
"I would hope so," stated Kyoutoku. He then gave Izuku a nasty look, making the boy flinch. "You better make sure nothing happens to my little girl, boy! If something happens to her, I'm going to hunt you down!"
"E-Eh?!"
"Just ignore him, Izuku-kun. He likes to pretend he's tough," stated Kyouka, walking over to Izuku and grabbing his hand, intertwining their fingers. Izuku blushed at the gesture and Kyouka was doing no better even though she was the one to initiate the action.
Inko and Mika could only giggle at the scene while Kyoutoku had the feeling his daughter was doing this on purpose to get under his skin.
After saying their goodbyes, Izuku and the Jirou family left the apartment. Once they reached the bottom more goodbyes were said as Izuku and Kyouka headed towards he station and Kyouka's parents headed home.
"I'm glad that Kyouka has found someone who makes her happy," stated Mika with a smile.
Kyoutoku could only grimace at the thought of his daughter being in a relationship. That boy better treat her right.
-:-
Back at the UA dorms, Ochaco stared at the clock in worry.
"Where could Deku-kun be? It's almost time for curfew."
"I'm sure he's on his way, Uraraka," replied Iida, although he was worried for his friend as well.
"Kyouka is also not back yet," stated Momo, just as worried. "I hope nothing happened."
"Didn't Midoriya and Kyouka-chan both mention that they were visiting their parents today?" questioned Hagakure. "Maybe they just lost track of time catching up with their families."
It was a possibility, but didn't lessen Ochaco and Momo's worries.
The sound of the door opening caught everyone's attention. They were all surprised when who entered was both Izuku and Kyouka, but Kyouka was latched onto Izuku's arm in an intimate sort of way and Izuku wasn't freaking out like he would normally.
"Hey guys! We're back!" said Izuku with a smile.
It was silent as everyone was still trying to process what they were seeing. The first one to speak was the fluffy alien of Class 1-A.
"Midori? Kyouka-chan? I thought you two said you were visiting your families today?"
"W-We did, Ashido-san."
"Then what the hell is this?!" demanded the perverted grape, gesturing the intimate scene. "Why are you two so close and how the hell did Midoriya get a girlfriend before me?!"
He was silenced when Tsuyu smacked him with her tongue.
Izuku and Kyouka blushed, but didn't separate from each other. If anything, Kyouka actually scooted closer to Izuku. Seeing the action caused Ochaco to flinch.
Letting out a sigh, Kyouka spoke up. "Look, if you want to know what happened today…"
Kyouka started to explain, with Izuku filling the details. They told their classmates of how Kyouka got caught in the rain when she arrived in Shizuoka, Izuku finding her and offering his home to her, the little movie marathon they had, Kyouka meeting Izuku's mother and being invited to stay for dinner, inviting her own parents over and her old man threatening Izuku.
It was a lot to take in for Class 1-A. Surprisingly, Shouto was the first to speak, although his priorities were a bit off.
"You two are from Shizuoka too?"
"You're from Shizuoka, Todoroki?" questioned Izuku, looking at his half-and-half friend with wide eyes.
"I as well, Midoriya," added Tokoyami.
Izuku let out a chuckle. "Wow, that's pretty cool how many of us grew up in the same place and we didn't even know it. What do you think, Kacchan?"
"Fuck off, Deku!"
Kyouka rolled her eyes, but smiled nonetheless. She loved how innocent her boyfriend could be at times.
"Hey! That's not important right now!" exclaimed Mina, giving Izuku and Kyouka a narrowed look. "What is important is that Midori and Kyouka-chan are a couple now!"
"And it was so romantic how Midoriya-kun took care of Kyouka-chan the way he did~" added Hagakure. She then let out a loving sigh. "I wish I could find a boyfriend like that."
The shy couple could have been mistaken for a pair of cherries with how red they were. Off to the side Ochaco had a blank look on her face, still trying to figure out how she lost Deku like this.
"Congrats, Midori-bro!" exclaimed Kirishima, slapping the green-haired boy on the back in a friendly manner.
"I'm so happy for you, Kyouka!" stated Momo with a beaming smile as she brought the shy rocker into a hug.
"Th-Thanks, Kirishima/Yaomomo," replied Izuku and Kyouka at the same time.
"By the way, what's in the bag?" asked Sero, bringing everyone's attention to said bag.
Kyouka glanced at her boyfriend, wondering if he was going to tell them. She smiled when he didn't hesitate.
"Oh it's just some CDs I made with songs from the Pre-Quirk Era. I promised Kyouka that she could borrow them," replied Izuku. "I also brought some movies from the Pre-Quirk Era as well. Kyouka and I only got halfway through the second movie before dinner was ready, so we were hoping to finish our movie marathon here."
The shy couple could see the interest in everyone's eyes upon hearing about the Pre-Quirk Era.
"Are the movies any good?" asked Kaminari.
Kyouka gave off a slight grin. "Better than the stuff they put out today."
The fact that Kyouka approved of these movies seemed to be enough to convince everyone.
"Can we watch them with you two? Please?" pleaded Hagakure.
Izuku could only smile.
"Sure."
"Movie night!" exclaimed Mina with a grin. "Get the snacks ready!"
"Now hold on! We still have classes tomorrow!" exclaimed Iida, moving his arms in a robotic manner.
"Come on, Iida! You know you want to watch them just as much as the rest of us," stated Kirishima with a laugh. "And Baku-bro! I know you want to watch them too!"
"Fuck off, Kirishima!"
Everyone laughed as they set up for the movies. Once everyone settled either on the floor or the couches, Izuku put in the first movie. He then made his way over to the recliner where Kyouka was waiting for him. Once he sat down, Kyouka took her place on his lap and snuggled up to him (much to Ochaco's chagrin).
"I almost thought you'd keep these a secret," mumbled out Kyouka, loud enough for only Izuku to hear.
"I would have," replied Izuku, just as quiet. "But I figured that since you found my hobby interesting, maybe others would find it interesting too. Thank you for giving me the confidence boost, Kyouka."
She leaned up and placed a quick kiss on his lips. "You're welcome, Izu-kun."
She snuggled back into her boyfriend, who in turn wrapped his arms around her petite waist and held her close as they watched the movie.
And to think, all it took was a little rain for these two to find their happiness.
FIN
-:-
I like that it's canon that Izuku and Kyouka are actually from the same town. And yes, Shouto and Tokoyami are also from Shizuoka. Along with Bakugou, that means 1/4 of Class 1-A comes from Shizuoka.
With all of that being said…can we get some stories where Izuku had some actual friends as a child? Imagine how much better Izuku's life would be if he had someone like Kyouka, Shouto and/or Tokoyami as a friend(s) growing up instead of Bakugou. For example, Izuku wouldn't have someone telling him to go kill himself like Bakugou did. Wouldn't that be nice?
