It was strange.
Her life was filled with hundreds of small moments that changed her life. From the path she took home from school each day, to seeing her friends and family, to visiting her mother, to what she wrote her papers on. Each and every choice affected her life in some small and wonderful way. But there was one moment, one moment that Fuyumi could say changed her life forever.
It was when the pro hero Deku saved her life. He wasn't even a pro back then, he was still at U.A. and was interning with some pro hero. She was thirteen at the time, and a villain had started to rampage downtown; it was terrifying. But, as the building collapsed, he had swooped in and saved her. It had only been for a few brief seconds of Deku carrying her in his arms, his soft smile consoling her just as much as his kind words did. By the time Deku had placed her on the ground, she had fallen in love.
That was five years ago.
Since then she had decided to become a hero, inspired by Deku to help others, all while holding onto the small hope that becoming a hero might allow her to see him once again. For years she had watched him grow from just a U.A. student to someone that had earned her father's begrudging respect, then ire when Deku became the new number one hero after her father held it for a few years.
Fuyumi bit her lip and stared eagerly at the passing scenery of the train. Now she had that chance! After working her butt off to make her quirk useful, convincing her father to train her, applying to U.A., joining the general course and finally this last year transfering to the hero course - Honestly, having her father say that he was proud of her was an unexpected reward - she was finally going to join Deku's new hero agency at first as an intern, and hopefully, later on in the year for work study.
Then.
Hopefully.
Maybe.
She'd be able to work for him once she graduated.
Then.
And only then.
If she had her way.
Deku would get a romantic interest in her.
And then they'd have an awkward work date relationship, then he'd have a conflict about what to do with her, and then he'd snap after a tough mission pin her against the wall, and start kissing her in a fit of passion and then a few months later, they'd be married.
Ah.
She was on a train.
Fuyumi coughed and straightened her school uniform, she probably should try not to mention any of that to him. Or anyone. Especially not how she once used an action figure to, umm, well, relieve herself. Definitely not that.
Fuyumi bit her lip when the train came to a stop, making certain to grab her bag before heading out. The other students had their costumes already designed, but as it stood she only had a few support items that she was allowed to take with her and her U.A. track suit. So even if she was in the hero course, she still wasn't a real hero.
"Though, I supposed none of us really are." She muttered, carrying her bag in front of her while she headed towards Deku's hero agency.
Still, this was a big moment for her. She was going to be studying with the number one pro hero!
It was kind of amazing that her father agreed to it, but her saying that it would be good for her and that he could also focus more on training Shoto helped. She needed to apologize to her little brother for the week of extra hell she put him through. And she was going to totally ignore everything her father said about spying on Deku.
Well she might spy a little bit. But not for him. Mostly for her.
"Hey! General-ed girl!" A raspy voice that was filled with an overabundance of pep got Fuyumi's attention.
Fuyumi spun, her white and red hair slapping her in the face as she saw the pair that had called out to her. It was two of the hero course students from 3-B, she didn't know them too well largely because she had only just been transferred to 3-A after doing so well in the sports festival. And the girl she had lost to was currently standing in front of her.
Rumi Ussagiyama was probably the craziest person in the school. And strong enough to back up that crazy with a kick to the stomach that Fuyumi was still feeling. Most of the boys loved to talk about her because she was cute and sexy all rolled into one rabbit eared package.
Technically Fuyumi was taller, if ears didn't count. Which they didn't. She was also bustier. Which was a weird thing to have pride in, but it was still an advantage. But they both had white hair so she had heard a few guys comparing the two of them, and Rumi won a depressing amount of the time. Largely because of her bunny features, frequently exposed thighs, and caramel skin.
Next to Rumi was the class clown of every class she had ever stepped foot in, Emi Fukukado, though, everyone, even the teachers, called her Joke. Joke had seafoam green hair, and just loved to make people laugh even when she wasn't using her quirk. She turned her recent sports festival match into a comedy show.
"Oh! Fuyumi right? Are you ditching class too?" Joke tapped her costume case against her back and smiled widely. "Want to join us? We're going to go watch a comedy show with All Might and Endeavor!"
Fuyumi adjusted her glasses. "I'm actually here for my work-study. And I'm in class 3-A now, so I'm in the hero course as well."
"Woah! Right on, Snow White!" Rumi bounded up and slugged her - hard - in the shoulder. A wide manic smile on the rabbit girl's allegedly cute face. Fuyumi couldn't picture that face as cute. That smile she had in the middle of a fight was terrifying. And it was that smile that Rumi wore now. "Once you get some real fighting experience, we should go for another round or two!"
"Ahh, no thank you. I'd rather avoid that-" and the broken ribs "- if at all possible."
"It's easier if you get her laughing, or better yet throw some cabbage and she'll be distracted." Joke came in and tugged on one of Rumi's ears. "Also, if you tug on her ears, she freezes up just the slightest bit. I'm still trying to get her to fit into a hat though."
"Hey! Joke! I thought you were a comedian not a magician, stop grabbing my ears!" Rumi flailed her arms about weakly.
Huh, well that was good to know. "I see, well it was a pleasure running into both of you. But I don't want to be late for my internship."
"Oh shoot!" Rumi stopped struggling against Joke's grip and shot up nearly a foot into the air. "That's right! Come on Joke, we're going to be late too."
The three of them walked for a few blocks before they came to stop in front of the address of Deku's hero agency.
All three of them stopped.
Fuyumi looked at Rumi, who was casually smiling up at the three story building like it was a mountain to be climbed. Joke was currently attempting to arm herself with a whoopie cushion.
"Umm, so did all three of us get accepted by Deku?" Fuyumi asked, looking at the two of them.
"What? You got in too, Ice Queen? Damn, must have been your daddy pulling some strings." Rumi nudged her in the elbow while wiggling her white eyebrows at her. "Yeah! Me and Joke got in! Sensei didn't say anything about you though."
Fuyumi pushed up her glasses once again. "I can assure you I'm supposed to be here."
"Well," Joke pulled out a red nose and honked it once for good measure. "We can always just ask Deku right? And we still have our bet, Rumi."
"Yeah! And there's no way that's going to happen, Joke!" Rumi stomped forward and tossed open the door. "Come on, let's go see what's happening."
Fuyumi felt her heart leap out of her chest when she saw Deku standing in the lobby, his back was towards them and he was wearing his standard green jumpsuit that she had fantasized so many times about removing and seeing the toned firm chest in person for the first time. She had seen him shirtless of course, tabloids were a thing. And she even had one particularly spicy picture of him coming out from the water in some swim trunks looking like an absolute snake as her phone background for a good few years - it still was. She should probably change that.
For safety reasons.
Boxes filled with files, and a computer that had yet to be properly set up sat on a large receptionist desk, even the phone was unplugged. When they had said the office was new she didn't know that they had meant he was still getting it set up. Not that she was going to complain, Deku was a young pro hero so a bit of chaos was expected.
"Sorry!" Deku shouted, reaching up to the top shelf of a bookcase to place a few books in their home. His long muscular form made Fuyumi very much aware that while she had a crush on Deku, it was one part admiration, two parts physical, and three parts hope. "I'm still moving in, but if you want I can-"
Deku turned to see them and blinked. "Oh! Is that today?! Uhh, I honestly thought I had more time. Uhh, Hi! You three must be the U.A. work study students. I'm Deku. Well, you probably knew that and umm."
He scratched his head like an awkward dork and looked so embarrassed. How was he this hunky and this cute? If her dad tried that, he'd just end up looking like a creep.
"So why'd you pick three eightteen year old girls?" Joke asked, setting her stuff on the ground. "You trying to start a harem?"
Deku's face went red. It almost matched his hair in a christmasy kind of way. Not that Fuyumi was one to talk. Her face went red as well. Rumi punched Joke in the arm. Hard.
"What? No. I, oh gosh, does it really look like that? I was. oh man what am I supposed to do if someone asks about this?" Deku, the number one pro hero in all of Japan and quite arguably the entire world crouched down and began to ran his hands through his curly green hair. Something Fuyumi also would like to do.
"Umm, well," Fuyumi spoke up and coughed into her hand. "If someone does bring it up, you could just be honest, and say that you didn't even consider our genders when you selected us."
Deku blinked. Then he smiled at her. A smile. Right at her. "Oh wow, that's actually a great idea, Fuyumi. As expected of you. Phew, last thing I need is more of, uhh, that stuff." Deku stood and leaned against the desk. It scooted a bit back and he settled for standing. "Right, well, sorry about all the mess, the rooms you'll be staying at are set up at least. And uhh, I'll still be able to like train you and stuff, but you're all third years, so all three of you should have experience with hero work and uhh, basically you're part trial run. Sorry if things are rough."
"Don't worry about it." Rumi stuck her hand on her hip and flipped her hair back. "But Deku, why did you choose us in the first place?"
Deku took on a bit more of a professional aura just by crossing his arms, but he was still warm and inviting. "Well, Rumi, both of us utilize our legs a lot both for movement and fighting, I think we can benefit from each other a lot."
"Oh, I'm sure I can show you a thing or two, Deku." Rumi licked her lips. Was she flirting? She was flirting! Fuyumi wanted to turn her into a frozen rabbit right then and there. It was easy. She could do it!
Maybe.
"And you, Fuyumi." She jumped hearing Deku say her name again. "I'm actually really glad you decided to become a hero." Deku scratched the back of his head and smiled at her. "That letter you sent me after I saved you really helped me out when things got dark. So part of why I chose you was because of that. The other part was that you impressed me during the sports festival. And umm well," Deku's face went red and he gestured towards the building around him. "You also have classes in agency management and with your dad being who he is I was kind of hoping that I could rely on you to help me get up and running."
Fuyumi could feel Rumi's glare. But that didn't matter!
She was on cloud nine! Cloud Nine! Deku had just said that her letter that she had been so embarrassed about for years helped him and now he was praising her! And he wanted to rely on her! "You can count on me, Deku!"
"Oh! Me! Me!" Joke jumped up and down, her red nose fell off and bounced behind some boxes. "Why'd you pick me?"
"Hair." Deku answered plainly.
"Hair?" Rumi asked, a dangerous look in her eyes.
"Ye." Deku nodded and ran his hand through his hair. "We both have green hair. Sorry for being lame about it. You just stood out."
"Ha!" Joke pointed towards Rumi and even poked her in the cheek. An action that earned her both a growl and a fake - hopefully - bite. "I told you so. You owe me big!"
Rumi did not look happy.
Deku just looked confused and amused.
AN: Uhhhhhhhhh... Idk?
