Welcome to the reading of this new fic, I promised that I would do a rewrite of Test of Faith and here it is.
In the last chapter of that fic I explained the reasons that led me to do it and therefore to write this new story.
To summarize, the concept remains, but there will be a new story with new characters and a somewhat different plot, reading the same story would be boring in my view.
It should be clarified that this is a uchronia so there will be events that will happen differently.
It should be noted that Gate - Jietai Kare no Chi nite, Kaku Tatakeri does not belong to me
Without further ado, I hope you enjoy the story
Alnus Hill, Falmart
The sun appeared in the sky at dawn while its rays of light illuminated a large army that camped near a hill
The sound of legionaries and auxiliaries preparing their equipment along with the roar of the imperial beasts replaced the traditional noises that the animals of the nearby areas.
There were some delays, but just over an hour after dawn, the entire army was ready and prepared.
In light imperial armor, a gray-haired old man observed the top of the hill constantly while sitting comfortably surrounded by a large number of Praetorians.
The gold and precious metal details on his armor along with the long purple cloak on his back denoted that he was someone of importance.
And it was not for less, The Consul Godian which was the name of that important subject waited patiently for something while the servants attended to his needs and those of his entourage.
"Will it happen or will it not happen? Is it true that the imperial mages were able to decipher Rondel's manuscripts? Will we be able to decipher the secrets of the gods themselves?" he thought as he waited patiently in his seat.
The empire had invested heavily in this event, his imperial majesty, Emperor Molt Sol Augustus after years of successful conquests seemed to want more, he wanted his reign to be remembered for a feat that had never been accomplished by any of his predecessors.
The internal flame in the heart of each Saderan had to want to exceed its limits seemed to have come to an end, Sadera was the largest empire that Falmart had known, but Molt wanted more, the senate wanted more, the people wanted more.
The proposal to be able to predict and control the Gate of the sacred hill of Alnus, to be able to bring the glory of Sadera to other worlds had caused more than one to drool just thinking about it.
Many years of research took the one in which the best magicians and sages of the empire were recruited and financed, the exact date when the sacred Gate of Alnus would be opened bringing with it the entrance to another completely new world full of wealth and fortune.
Godian was excited to think this, so much so that more than once a pronounced smile was drawn on his mouth, although the fear that the scholars' prediction was wrong also crossed his mind.
Every minute his heart was beating constantly, thoughts of glory or failure were constant while the imperial troops remained firm at the foot of the hill.
Much was invested and sacrificed in this expedition, the least that one wished was that all this was a failure.
After several minutes, Godian decided to stay positive, hoping that at least the proposal from the souls of otherworldly beings would give them a little luck with the gods.
"My lord, the 16 legions await your orders" said one of his assistants
Godian crossed his arms and sighed nodding "Perfect, now all that remains is for the Gate to appear"
The hours passed and those of that so mythical structure created by the Only and True Gods did not appear generating some despair.
Until it finally happened, around noon a structure began to materialize at the top of the hill, that spectacle quickly captivated the gaze of all those present including Godian who with difficulty rose from his seat.
But there was no time to just observe, you had to mobilize now.
"According to the sages, the Gate that connects with the other world will take a while longer, so the link has not yet been made"
"How long?" he asked
"Maybe just over an hour"
"Then there is no time to lose, that the legions XI, XII, and XIII march first" he said while smiling when he saw that the sages were not mistaken.
"Understood my lord," answered the assistant while still staring in amazement at the miracle of the gods appearing before his eyes.
Meanwhile Godian sat down while constantly thinking in his head "What a good time to be alive"
A new chapter would be written in the history of the empire and he was glad to be part of it, but at the same time he did not know what he would find on the other side, also the empire had enough fire and steel to respond fiercely.
And with this, I finish the prologue
I will leave in doubt at what moment the Gate will open although taking into account the first version of this fic perhaps they have an idea, I will only say that the places will remain.
Also, I already planned the story with the characters already created and the plot that will follow, although I do not rule out that it may have slight modifications.
I do this to avoid writer's block and invent characters that I don't know what to do with later.
Finally, I can only wish you a good day, afternoon or night to all my readers.
Greetings and see you soon.
