Tears Under Moonlight

Lie awake in dead of night,

Eyes blinded by the moon's light.

Bereft of people to confide,

How I wish with you I lay beside.

...

I hear the beating of my heart,

How with every beat it's ripped apart.

Different now, the stars above,

But unchanged are the ways of love.

...

Cannot sleep upon this bed,

The blood is pounding in my head.

Twist and toss, on mattress turn,

Dare to dream of love unspurned.

...

Hours more until the dawn,

Know when I wake, still be forlorn.

Greet the world with falsehood's smile,

While inwardly, I self-revile.

...

Thunder rumbles, then the rain,

Does nothing to remove the pain.

Left alone with silent tears,

With hopes and sorrow, truths and fears.

...

A fear I'll live and die alone,

Fear there's none to call my own.

And poisoned hope there'll come the day,

You'll deem it fit to glance my way.
