Weeks after getting off the train, things have been going pretty well for Lake and Jesse. The latter's folks had a lot of questions about Lake's molecular structure, cause from the outside she looks like a perfectly sculpted girl made of metal. It took a lot of explaining, but they seemed pretty cool about the whole thing. They were just glad that Jesse was okay, and that he found a friend. A real one, not those jerks that hurt Nate.

Speaking of which, Jesse had cut ties with those bullies. They didn't take this lightly, but thankfully Lake was there to take care of them. After a few words and some broken fingers, they never went near Jesse or his brother ever again as long as Lake was around.

Lake yawned as she walked down the stairs of the Cosay home, sporting her usual dark hoodie with the sleeves ripped off, black jeans, and combat boots. She walked past a mirror, which she blew a raspberry at. "Try coming for me now, flecks." Now that she's in the real world and off the train, she was no longer afraid of reflective surfaces. On the train she was in constant danger whenever she was near anything reflective, but now she won't have t worry about mirror cops popping out ever again.

She entered the kitchen, where she saw Jesse and Nate eating cereal at the table. Nate using his good arm, Jesse then saw Lake walk in "Morning Lake."

"Morning Chrome-Girl."

Lake rolled her eyes at the nickname, "Morning goobers." she then sat down next to Jesse.

"So, today's your first day in high school. Well as a student and not as a reflection of one, how are you feeling?" Jesse asked, his family got Lake enrolled in Jesse's class. Which wasn't easy, not one bit.

Lake shrugged, "Meh, I'll be fine. I've had 14 years of education and however long I wandered the train, so school shouldn't be an issue." Funny how Mace mocked her for probably going to high school if she managed to escape the train, oh if only she can see the look on his face now. And the one he'd make when she'll go to prom, get a job, marry Jesse, and have a kid with him. She wasn't sure how that last one will go, but she'll cross that bridge when she gets there.

Nate then asked, "Are you sure you want to do this?"

"Of course, what better way to start a normal life?" Lake assured him.

Jesse then placed a hand on her shoulder, "Besides, I'll be with her the whole way. Like how she was with me on the train." he then got flicked in the head by Lake, which hurt him a lot due to her metal like fingers.

"Doof, though it is true." Jesse insisted that she'd be put in all the same classes as him, so that she'll have a familiar face.

'This is gonna be fun.'
