Hi, Guys! Looks like Raps and Eugene's' Story isn't the only story bumped up the to-do list. Here a day earlier, the last instalment of the festive story, Snoggletog Date.
Snoggletog Date 2 (A HTTYD Countdown To Christmas Mini Holiday Fanfic)
Snotlout was losing his mind!
Many would claim he didn't have one and right now he'd have to agree with them.
How did he get into this mess?
"Hey, stop it! Put that down right now mister! Now, missy, don't climb on that!"
"Hahar! Can't catch me!"
"Come back here! Isn't it time for bed, you two?"
Snotlout tried to catch up with them but they bounded around him and over the mantel top, pinching an apple from the decorations on the wall then jumped back on the floor behind him.
"Please!" Snotlout pleaded ever so thrilled to not have kids of his own right now.
Then again if he had his own little monsters he wouldn't have been the only one free to babysit for Hiccup and Astrid.
"Stupid, Hiccup, Stupid Astrid." Snotlout muttered to himself.
"Hey! Why are you calling mom and papa stupid?" Bent over exhausted he opened his eyes to see Zephyr seamlessly mimic her mother's fierce glare.
"Come on Nuffink! Get him!"
"Oh no!" Snotlout backed away but once again he was out maneuvered. Before he knew it he was backed up against the fireplace and a cup of yaknog poured down his back. Snotlout tried to reach it as he jumped about screaming then he smelt something he'd not come across for years.
Rump Roast.
"Ahhh!"
Leaping out of the fire his rear ablaze he raced around the room.
"Ow Ow Ow!"
The children giggled but soon he found himself out in the snow, catapulted by some creaky contraption clear out the door and butt first in the snow.
The fire put out, he watched the kids laughing just as they closed and barricaded the front door.
Sighing he knew if he couldn't do this that Hiccup would likely banish him. Forget what Astrid would do to him!
"That's it!"
He needed reinforcements.
Hiccup and Astrid sat in the luxury Viking tent off in the distant shores of New Berk, utterly at peace and cuddled in each other's arms.
Gazing at the moon over the water watching as the fire crackled a few feet in front of them just outside the tent.
"This is perfect." Hiccup uttered in her ear. Nuzzling her neck and holding her close, loving the peace of mind that things were not at an end for them.
"Mmmm." Astrid seemed a little distracted and he knew her well enough now to know the course.
"As..trid…" He said intensely. Sitting up and brushing a hand through his hair.
"They'll be fine." He reiterated knowing she was worrying about the kids.
She thumped him playfully in the arm. His body so numb to her attacks after all these years he swore brushes stopped showing up.
He smirked as he mockingly rubbed his arm.
"This is your fault you know!" She snapped. Even though he knew she wasn't that angry. He'd seen her angry at him this wasn't it.
If anything, she was sad. That got to him more than anything, but still he rebuffed her claim.
"What? – I – HOW!?" He asked perplexed.
"You turned me into this maternal, hands on monster! Now all I ever do it worry."
He laughed. Almost being punched again, but he put up his hands in surrendered much like Snotlout had done before they'd left the house.
"Oh, come on Astrid it's not a bad thing, plus, I do recall a certain little 'hands on monster' being part of the reason why we need a babysitter in the first place." He teased leaning in closer to her. Embracing the playful second pound in the shoulder before pulling her into his arms.
He looked into her gorgeous blue eyes then suggestively looked down at her lips.
Before gazing back up at her eyes.
"Oh, sure like you weren't a little hands on too,"
He smiled tenderly at her. Brushing a stray snowflake from her golden hair.
"We have two perfect little monsters as a result of that. I couldn't be happier Astrid you know that right?"
She smiled back at him placing the palm of her hand flat to his chest.
"Yeah, I do, it would be nice to have Toothless and Stormfly back too though."
He kissed her cheek affectionately. Knowing she was right about that too.
"Yeah, it sure would."
"Say! I know,"
He grinned, knowing a great idea was busting forth, her expression and glee reminiscent of that Snoggletog when she'd come up with Yaknog and Missing Toe, he just hoped it was better than her last seasonal sensations.
"Why don't we take the kids to see them this Snoggletog?"
He blinked at her.
"Now?"
"No, not tonight, you mutton head. After the pageant tomorrow, we'll head out first thing the next morning. We've been thinking about it since last Snoggletog. Why not? We've put so many things aside this year and its starting to…"
She stopped. A little unsure.
"Divide us." He finished for her.
"Exactly."
The atmosphere turned tender again as she nuzzled against his chest, holding on tight to him.
"It's settled then. We'll go to the hidden world day after tomorrow. Just the four of us."
Emotion filled his heart knowing that his children were safe, his Wife still loved him and that he'd soon see his best friend again.
"So…." Astrid traced her fingers along his chest.
Hiccup playfully rolled his eyes.
"Oh, sure now she's interested!" he teased drawing her close to him as they laid back into the comforts and warmth of the tent.
Two lovers blissfully happy in each other arms and in the festive season.
"I'm always interested Hiccup." Astrid taunted, as she untied his shirt and basked in the long missed delights of her Husband.
"Wel-"
He began, intent on pointing out that they were on this little romantic getaway because she hadn't been all that interceded in the last year.
"Shut up and kiss me."
He grinned up at her content to let the matter drop.
"Yes, Milady."
He remarked as he drew her down to him and kissed her intently, the embrace just a hint at the delights to develop this Snoggletog night.
Snoggletog Morning. Day Break.
"The place is still standing, Astrid. See nothing bad happened." Hiccup whispered to her as they snuck back into the house just as the light of dawn was casting its cold, light blue light across the land. It was set to be a snowy clear Snoggletog morning.
Just as heaven sent as the night before.
Walking into the main room they saw that it wasn't all peace and rainbows.
The house looked like a stamped of Terrible Terrors had raced through the place.
Still as the two of them came to the fireplace they saw something that erased all upset they might have had.
For there, scattered serenely about the place, was there sleeping friends, and children.
Snotlout was draped face first over the wooden couch a shield in one arm, charmingly drooling.
Fishlegs, Ruffnut, their little baby where in a heap together on the other side of the fireplace, all tangled limbs and blankets.
Gobber was missing his leg and draped backwards on a chair by the fireplace, in the most uncomfortable looking way. The remains of this leg apparently being used as a log on the fire.
Tuffnut was flat on his back in the middle of the floor arms flayed out every which way looking almost dead, were it not for the obnoxious snoring he made…and there beside him nestled against each side were Astrid and Hiccup's kids.
Looking like angels. Even as their burnt, torn clothing and self-made weapons lay scattered tellingly around them.
Mother and Father stood gazing lovingly down at them.
"Happy Snoggletog, Astrid."
"Happy Snoggletog."
Just then Zephyr woke up saw her parents and cried out.
"Mom! Papa!"
The brisk squealed jerked everyone awake including her baby brother, Nuffink, who reiterated his sisters sentiment, bounding up with her to race over to them.
Just then the peaceful morning turned into a loud boisterous family gathering.
Turning the calming Snoggletog night into the gaiety of Snoggletog morning.
"Oh, great you're home!" Snotlout quipped sarcastically.
His words prompting the rest to bring forth their qualms.
Hiccup and Astrid were inundated with laud voices as their kids clambered at their legs, chanting their names over and over.
"Mom!"
"Papa, it was all Nuffink fault!"
"Was not!"
"Was too!"
"Was not!"
"Chief, you're little devils own me a new leg!"
Gobber ordered form where he sat a little unable to stand, for both the missing leg and apparently the ale he'd drunk.
"They trashed the kitchen,"
"They set my butt on fire!"
"They kept the baby awake all night!"
Just then to make an entrance to the conversation Ruff's baby gave a wail from within her arms.
"Ugh! There she goes again! Your turn Fishlegs." She handed the baby over and then slumped back down on the floor where she stood and apparently went back to sleep.
"Hiccup the children did get a little boisterous,-" Fishlegs began.
"No we didn't!" Zephyr professed earnestly. Giving that yak butter wouldn't melt in her mouth look up at her parents.
Parents who weren't fooled.
"They locked me out of the house!"
Snotlout yelled, distraughtly.
"It was madness-" He added
"It was hell!" Ruff pitched in raising one pointed hand in the air before it dropped like a dead fish to the hardwood floor once again.
"It was a little crazy, Snotlout called us in for help."
"If you can call it that!" Snotlout snapped.
"It was nuttier than a hat full of heated badgers." Gobber added a little slurred.
The room stopped to look mutedly at him before continuing their avid protests and recounts of the night. Hiccup and Astrid listened not really distraught by the mess or by all the voices speaking at once to them.
"It was suicidal that's what it was!"
"Hey! Don't blame us if you can't handle two little kids,"
"Zephyr!"
"What Mom, it's true."
"Last-"
"Night-
"Was-"
"The worst!" All the adults added. Then chimed in together.
"WE ARE NEVER DONG THAT AGAIN!"
Hiccup and Astrid looked at each other and laughed outrageously at their antics.
"Good to get away." Hiccup teased.
"Sure was!" Astrid winked at him.
They then turned to their big beloved family and said together.
"Happy Snoggletog! Everyone!"
End!
So there you have it! Happy Snoggletog Everyone!
Countdown To Christmas Mini Holiday Fanfics
HalfaLily's Review.
Yep I'm worried about Snotlout too. I used him as a bit of a way to deal with the fact I too am still single when all I know from my youth are married. I'm working on it tho….sadly I haven't worked out how to fix the fact Ruff chose Fishlegs I still think she's better for Snotlout. You see all my HTTYD fanfics are meant to eventually match up with the actual timeline of the show and lead into a fanfic concept I hope will develop into a fourth and fifth film – if I'm immensely lucky – but Ruff not marring Snotlout and Fishleg's not with Heather and the fact a few things have changed in HicAsh timeline I've not figured out how to fix in my side of the timeline. Will keep you posted.
Thanks for the Review! Real glade you like it! Hope you like part two!
Merry Christmas!
