ELIZA

Eliza stoop back up straight and Andy shifted towards Anita, in an attempt to protect her from the possible collision. The sky seemed somewhat paler, as if the blinding luminous bluish aura of Ardor was affecting not only their lives, but the entire universe, the entire matter around them. Eliza wrapped her hands around her body, hugging the soft fabric of her shirt, slowly rotating her torso to feel the cloth against her skin. She found some comfort in it somehow, as if it was the only thing that wasn't surreal, that it was the only authentic thing left in the world. She shuddered as a hand dropped on her shoulder, turning to expect Peter taking her in her arms. Tears pricked her eyes as her father opened his arms wide, inviting her into the comforting paternal arms. With a sigh of relief, she crashed slowly against his chest and cried softly. She wasn't sure why she was crying. Maybe it was because of Peter, how she had had him only for a few candid moments before he was so suddenly taken from her again. Maybe it was her dad, as normal as he tried to seem he winced everytime she leaned against him. Maybe it was just Ardor fucking with her emotions again. She thought about the story she was telling Peter, before he passed. The story of Tobb and his son Chris, how Tobb had created this world only to discover war, conflict, anguish, despair. His son wanted to scare us enough to make us realize the sad symmetry of our lives, for us to change our ways. She had wanted to follow her "everything is just an event, it will only last for so long and then we'll move on" philosophy, her made up stories acting as a cover for her disoriented emotions, but right now, in this prominent concept of life and death and with the two very drastic possibilities the universe is marginally weighing, she couldn't help but think about how she wouldn't have wanted anything to turn out any differently. She had lived. Her photographs were a witness of that. And for the last time, she looked at the world in black and white, rose from her father's softening arms and closed her eyes. "5...4...3...2...1… and you're on your own."
