I wrote this fic in the span of like, 20-30 minutes in a starbucks and I'm pretty shaky from unloading so much words. Anyway. I do not own the cover art or characters. Enjoy the fic.

Since Magnus had bolted off into the trees to throw up at the thought of eating Hearth's dad's dragon heart, Blitzen and Hearthstone were left alone.
The pair were sitting together underneath a tree, in silence. Blitz glanced at Hearth's face and wondered if now would be a good time to tell him how he felt. Maybe not in Alfheim, though. Maybe not so close to where Hearth's abusive dragon father was living, cursed by the ring they had given him.
Still, he had to tell Hearthstone at some point, Blitz supposed. He couldn't hide this forever, not from his best friend. Being in love with your best friend sucks, he thought. There's the constant debate of do I tell him, do I hide it forever? If I tell him, will it ruin everything between us? I can't lose him. Does he even feel the same way? What if we're not compatible as a couple?
Blitzen's metal ramblings were interrupted by Heath tapping him on the shoulder. Are you alright? he signs. Yes, yes I'm fine. Blitz replied. Are you sure? You had a distressed look on your face. Hearth looked concerned. I'm alright, really. Just a little nervous about killing a dragon, is all. That reminds me, how are you holding up? This is your father, after all. Blitz signs.
Hearth turns his head off to the side, into the trees. His scarf flutters in the wind. He looks back at Blitzen briefly before replying. I am a little conflicted, to be honest. You know how he… how he was with me. Even still, after all of that… he is my father. In the end, though, it's probably for the best.
Blitz nods. I understand. Hearth turns to look at him and smiles, just a little. Blitz's heart flutters in his chest. Tell him. A voice says in his head. Tell him. What do you have to lose?
Everything, Blitz thinks. I could lose everything.
Despite that, he reaches forward and, forgetting the fact that Hearth needs his hands to sign, takes both of them in his. "Hearth," he says. "We've been friends for a while, yeah?" Hearthstone nods, looking slightly confused.
"So it's not that far fetched to think that, after a while, certain feelings could arise, yeah?" Hearth tilts his head, in a 'What do you mean?' gesture.
"What I mean is, what I'm trying to say is, that I, we, you.. Um." Blitz swallows, feeling very nervous and second-guessing himself.
"Hearth, I have feel-" He's cut off by the sound of Magnus' footsteps crunching toward them. Blitzen lets go of Hearth's hands quickly, heart sinking a little.
"Okay. Got that out of my system. What's going on?' Magnus frowns. "Did I miss something?" Hearth looks at Blitz, looking for an explanation as much as Magnus was.
"No, no. Everything's fine." the lie slips off Blitzen's tongue a little to easily for his taste. Hearth looks like he might push further, but lets it drop.
Magnus sits down with them to discuss their plan.
