The Silver Doe
Disclaimers: The original scene is obviously not ours.
Authors' note: We decided to make this scene in a different way. Obviously.
Enjoy!
Harry's POV:
Harry shivered slightly as he took off his jacket. The air was freezing cold, and taking a dive in a frozen lake wasn't usually considered a good idea, if at all. It wouldn't be something on Harry's to-do list either. After collecting all his clothes, save his boxers, in a pile on the floor, he took a deep breath through his chattering teeth. Without further hesitation, he dived into the lake, where he broke the ice with his spell.
It was too late when Harry realized that the closer he got to the bottom of the lake, the more he felt suffocated by the locket around his neck. He struggled to get back to the surface, and at the same time, pry the burning hot chain from around his neck. Black spots started to creep into his vision and Harry was panicking.
Snape's POV:
Snape cursed when the stupid brat took too long to get out of the lake. He didn't want to admit it, but he was starting to get worried. The lake wasn't that deep and it was supposed to be easy to get the sword out. He waited for 2 agonizing minutes for someone, anyone, to appear and save Potter, but no one did. If he was left down there for any longer he will surely die of drowning. Didn't any of his friends follow him?
Snape looked around one more time then, without even taking his clothes off, jumped after the boy. Through the murky water, he spotted Potter's body, now still, the last of his breath escaping his mouth in small bubbles. He quickly swam and wrapped his arms around the unconscious boy's chest, and grabbed the sword on his way up. He dragged him to the surface and took a breath of cold air. Snape got out of the water, pulling the limp body with him. He lay the freezing body on the ground and started chest compressions. Potter had stopped breathing due to the water in his lungs.
Snape sighed in relief when Potter started coughing and spluttering. He quickly got up and cast a drying spell on his clothes, then on Potter's slightly damp ones that were on the snow-covered ground. He also cast a warming charm on Potter himself before laying his clothes on a dry rock. He hurried off to hide between the trees again. He couldn't afford to be seen, especially now that he heard rustling and footsteps coming from the direction of the trees away from his hiding place. He hoped that Weasley will assist Potter and that Potter was unaware of who saved him.
He turned his back on Lily's son when he was sure he was safe. He did promise after all.
So, we sort of know some people expected us to reveal Snape to Harry, and to be honest we were actually going to do it, but we thought it will be more confusing for Harry to not know who his savior was if it wasn't Ron. We were thinking of maybe writing a sequel of how he knows, so what do you think of that idea?
