The scene was Littleton, Colorado in the year 1993. High school senior Jimmy had just returned home from school. He opened the door to his room only to see an overweight man dressed like a French aristocrat from the 18th century.

"Who are you?" asked Jimmy.

"I am the Marquis de Sade," replied the man. "I am a member of the Invisibles, a secret society of occult subversives dedicated to overthrowing the dark forces of oppression that secretly rule the world. I have traveled through time to recruit you. Do you want to become a member of the Invisibles?"

"Yes," said Jimmy.

"Very good," said the Marquis de Sade. "First, I'll have to ask you a few questions. I see that in your sophomore year of high school you ditched class for three straight weeks. How much detention did you receive?"

"I didn't get any detention," said Jimmy.

"And how did you avoid detention?"

"I bullied my mom into calling in sick for me."

"I see that just this very year you ditched your extracurricular activity for one week. Why?"

"I had tonsillitis and could not go to school for a week."

"What happened when you returned? Were you forgiven and welcomed back with open arms?"

"No. The supervising teacher kicked me off the team."

"Your environment is teaching you all the wrong lessons. I will teach you the right lessons. You need to study my books "Justine", "The 120 Days of Sodom", and "Philosophy in the Bedroom". You will find copies of them located on the lower floor of the library located on the corner of Holly and Orchard. They are right next to "Candide" by Voltaire."

"Thank you," said Jimmy.

"You're welcome," said the Marquis de Sade. "Oh, and by the way. Make sure to leave town prior to 1999."

"Why? What happens in 1999?" asked Jimmy.

"You'll see."

The Marquis de Sade then vanished as if he had never been there. Jimmy drove to the library and found the books exactly where the Marquis de Sade said they would be. He took them home and began to study.

Jimmy left Littleton, Colorado prior to 1999 and remained a member of the Invisibles to this day.
