"Let's do this Blaze! This time were going to win!" Scott exclaimed confidently. The fire lizard pokemon nodded, just as confident as his trainer as he watched his trainer push open the doors to the gym, "I'm back for a rematch! And this time? I'm going to win!" Ash sweat dropped at Scott's words, but smiled nonetheless, once again feeling dejavu at the boys words - it really did remind him of how he use to be, and how he reacted to his first gym battle rematch.
"Pretty confident, your training must have gone well," Forest said as he turned away from his older brother, Brock, to face Scott, "I hope this battle is a good one!" Forest said with a smile, making Scott nod confidently as he stepped into the challenger box whilst Ash and Sasha went to the spectators stand.
"Alright Blaze! Let's show'em! Go!" Blaze grunts as he ran onto the field, getting into a battle stance, his claws held up and shinning in the light, "Let's see how you do this time! Go! Geodude!" Forest exclaimed, calling out his first pokemon, who clenched its fists before holding one hand forward in a battle stance.
"Let's start off with Tackle Geodude!" Forest instructed, watching as Geodude grinned as it put its arms back and sped towards Blaze as fast as it could, "Dodge it Blaze!" Blaze smirked, easily dodging the slow rock pokemon, who smashed into a boulder that was behind Blaze, "Don't let up Geodude! Go after him!" Geodude shook its head, dirt and rumble flying off its head before it began chasing after Blaze.
"Keep dodging Blaze!" Blaze nodded, easily dodging the incoming Tackles each time, "Now! Jump and use Metal Claw!" Forest's eyes widened in surprise at the move command, "Dodge Geodude!" But Geodude was to slow, letting out a cry of pain as the metallic claws slashed across it's face before recoiling backwards, the rock pokemon covering its face in pain.
"Metal Claw again, Blaze!" Taking advantage of the situation, Blaze jumped up towards the still in pain Geodude, slashing his claws across the rock types face as soon as it made the mistake of lowering its hands away from its face.
"Dude! Geodude cried out once more, flying backwards from the force of the attack and smashing into the wall, throwing up a wave of dust, "No! Geodude!" Forest coughed out as the dust settled, revealing his closed-eyed Geodude, who grumbled before falling out of the wall and crashing into the ground, its eyes now swirly.
"We did it Blaze!" Scott cheered excitedly as Blaze threw a small hand into the air before turning and running back towards his trainer, jumping into the boy's open arms. Scott hugged Blaze tightly before holding him in the air and spinning him around, "You were amazing out their Blaze! All that training we did paid off!" "Charmander!" Blaze agreed, his chest puffed out proudly.
"He shouldn't get to cocky..." Ash spoke softly, making Sasha blink as she looked at the 11-year-old boy in confusion, "He still has to beat Onix before he can claim his first badge - and trust me. Onix isn't exactly the easiest pokemon to take down. The pokemon Onix is incredibly study, and will be able to take more attacks then say Geodude could."
"Plus Onix has pretty decent power behind its high defence, and impressive speed for a pokemon so large and heavy..." Sasha blinked softly at Ash, impressed at the amount of knowledge Ash displayed, "Wow...how do you know so much about Onix?" Ash smiled slightly before looking back to the field as Forest recalled his fallen rock pokemon, "I use to travel with Forest's older brother, Brock. He had an Onix, so i learnt a lot about the pokemon through that. Plus - I've come across a few Onix in my travels, and there is the pokedex. That thing is a wealth of knowledge"
Sasha just nodded, making a mental note to remember that Ash was a more experienced trainer than she was. And to take better notice of what her pokedex was telling her about pokemon - it would be helpful in future battles.
"Well, I must say. I am impressed. It's not often you get to see a fire type pokemon win against a rock type - but this battle isn't over yet!" Forest announced, making Scott grin as he set Blaze back down on the floor with a nod, "Let's rock and roll Onix!" Scott let out a small laugh at the corny joke as he watched the rock-snake pokemon appear on the field before looking down at Blaze, "Wanna keep going pal?" Char!" Blaze exclaimed with a nod, running back onto the field.
"Let's do this Blaze! Start off with your Metal Claw!" Forest smirked and looked from the running lizard pokemon to his own rock-snake, "Use Dig to dodge!" Scott's eyes widened as Onix, with impressive speed (Impressive for something that weighed 436 lbs) disappeared under the ground just as Blaze reached where Onix once stood.
"Crap...keep moving Blaze! Don't let Onix find you!" Blaze nodded and started darting around the field as fast as his little legs could move, "Now Onix!" Despite Blaze's constant moving, Onix emerged under the fire types feet, sending him flying into the air with a shocked cry, "Catch him with your Bind!" Onix quickly swung its tail up, catching Blaze mid-fall: coiling its tail round the fire type, Onix squeezed Blaze tightly with its tail.
"No, Blaze!" Scott cried in surprise, having not expected the attack, "What do i do?!" Scott questioned, looking around the field desperately before looking back at Blaze and Onix, who was still squeezing the fire type, "I don't know what to do! Urg!" Scott cried out, making Ash take a deep breath, "Keep calm Scott! If you panic so will Blaze! Take a deep breath and think!" Scott blinked but nodded slowly, taking a deep breath before looking back at the field, his eyes widening as he noticed Blaze becoming surrounded by a fire red aura, "Whats that?!"
"Its Blaze's ability, blaze! It powers up a fire types fire attacks!" Scott's eyes widened at Ash words and a grin spread across his face, "I got it! Use Ember! Aim for its eyes!" Blaze, still surrounded by the red aura, opened his mouth as best he could and shot out several small balls of flames, "Nix!" Onix cried out in surprise as the balls of fire hit its face, making it release it's grip on Blaze, who let out a yelp as he fell and hit the ground with a loud thud.
"Blaze! Are you okay?" Blaze coughed a little as he slowly stood up, turning to nod towards his trainer, though his eyes and body looked exhausted from the battle, "Blaze...return" Sasha's eyes widened at Scott's words, as did Blaze's whilst Ash just smiled with an impressed nod, "You fought your hardest - getting out of that Bind was amazing, but your tired. I don't want to push you to hard, you might get hurt" Scott said, making Blaze slump his shoulders slightly before slowly walking over to his trainer.
"That was a good call on Scott's part," Ash spoke softly to Sasha, who looked slightly confused, "Why was it a good call? Blaze was doing so well! And with his ability, he could have won!" Ash smiled slightly at the naive rebuttal and looked towards the retreating Blaze, "Look at Blaze - see how slow he is moving? He's close to the end of his ability to fight. If Scott had kept him out, he would have probably got hurt unnecessarily" Sasha blinked once more before looking towards the retreating Blaze, noticing how sluggish the fire type was moving and the tired look in his eyes.
Once Blaze was beside him, Scott smiled and knelt down, petting his starter's head gently, "Don't think you didn't do well buddy. You took out the rock pokemon, Geodude, and got a solid shot of your Ember at Onix - be proud Blaze because i am. But for now, I want you to rest, okay?" Blaze smiled at his trainers words and nodded softly, sitting down and resting as Scott turned back to the field, his second poke'ball in his hand, "Ready to keep going?" Forest grinned, him and Onix nodding in agreement as Scott called out his second pokemon.
