Chapter 04: Demon's in the Mist

"This is whiskers, got the target in sight." Naruto spoke into the headset he wore.

"This is Pretty in pink, target is moving towards me." Sakura's voice came over the radio.

"This is brooding princess, I got the target in sight and am ready to engage. Next time I'm choosing codenames though." Sasuke grumbled over the radio.

"Scarecrow here, I don't think the codenames are too bad. Get ready to engage target, go!" Kakashi chuckled as the sounds of a desperate struggle reached his ears. His poor little genin were taken apart by a superior opponent, Tora the Demon Cat.

A few minutes later team seven stood in the Hokage office all three Genin were bloody, scratched went all over their bodies and they looked like they went through hell. Though all three Genin had evil smirks on their faces, they just had the pleasure to watch the Fire Daimyos wife torture the demon cat through hugs and kisses, it was beautiful to the three young shinobi.

"Well done team seven, another completed mission. Hmm, that makes 42 D-Rank's in under two weeks, I'm impressed, you're certainly dedicated." The Hokage complimented with a smile.

"Thank you Hokage-sama, we would like to take another mission through." Kakashi said while his genin glared at him, they wanted to go home and not do another chore.

"Okay then, let's see. We have painting a fence, digging up a canal to fix a broken pipe, cleaning the Inuzuka's kennels, walking some dog-"

"ENOUGH!" Naruto bellowed, his right eye twitched erratically and he looked like he was ready to explode any minute now. "If I have to do one more chore, I think I might just go crazy! I didn't train every day for the last six years and went through the bullshit the teachers at the academy threw at me only to do chores!" Naruto ranted while his teammates nodded in agreement.

"The dobe's right, I need a mission that will further my growth and not some damn chores, I'm an Uchiha, we don't do chores!" Sasuke joined Naruto in his ranting, he was sick of degrading himself by doing things that the Villagers were too lazy to do themselves.

Sakura nodded in agreement while Kakashi just sighed in annoyance.

"Show some respect brats! This is the Hokage you're talking too here! We all had to do D-Rank's, they exist to build teamwork and comradeship between Genin! You aren't ready for a real mission yet!" Iruka used his big head jutsu on the three genin.

"It's alright Iruka." The Hokage said before looking at Kakashi, "what do you as their sensei think? Are they ready for the challenges of a higher mission?"

"I do believe so, they are a gifted bunch for their age and have decent teamwork. I think that a C-Rank should be no problem for them." Kakashi said seriously, he believed that his Genin could handle a higher tier mission and he himself was getting tired of doing chores all day every day.

"A C-Rank it is then…" The Hokage muttered while looking through possible missions' team seven could complete.

"You can't be serious Hokage-sama!? They're fresh Genin and only have been active for two weeks!" Iruka complained in shock.

"Don't worry Iruka, it's only a C-Rank and if anything should go wrong, they have Kakashi to help them out. Now I have an escort mission to Nami no Kuni that you could take." Hiruzen looked at Kakashi who nodded. "Good, send the client in please."

The door to the office opened and an elderly man with a grey hair and beard came into the office. The man wore mainly grey clothing and had a straw hat on his head, he drank from a gourd filled with sake and looked to be slightly drunk.

"What the… a bunch of little snot nosed kids?" The drunk complained in a gruff voice. "A pretty girl, an emo and whiskers, you really want me to believe that those three are Ninja?"

Kakashi had to hold back Naruto and Sasuke as they tried to attack the client, "You can't maim the person we are paid to protect, it doesn't work that way." Kakashi chided his students.

"Well anyway, I'm Tazuna. I'm a master bridge-builder and I must return to my country. I'm building a bridge there that will change my countries way of life and I expect you to get me there safely, even if it costs you your life." Tazuna explained before taking a swing from his gourd.

Naruto and Sasuke smirked at that while Sakura gulped nervously, she was not used to doing something with such stakes. Kakashi eye smiled as he took in the reactions of his cute, little Genin as he started to call the three.

"Well kiddies," Kakashi promptly ignored the glare the three Genin gave him and continued. "We have our mission, go and pack enough supplies for a two weeks journey and meet up at the front gate in an hour."

It's been a little over an hour since team seven started their escort mission to the land of waves, they walked down the road in a diamond formation with Kakashi in the back, Tazuna in the middle being flanked by Sasuke and Sakura and Naruto being the spearpoint.

It was an uneventful and boring walk for Naruto, he only had to keep his eyes open and look for any threat that may appear, which on a small-scale mission like this was rather unlikely to happen. Still Naruto had this bad feeling ever since they left Konoha and it wasn't the demonic fur coat in his gut that made him feel that way.

Something was off with this mission and Naruto wanted to find out what it was he couldn't honestly say that he knew why he had this feeling, but Naruto was someone that listened to his gut, it saved him his hide several times growing up.

"Say Tazuna-san your country is Nami no Kuni right?" Sakura asked their client.

"Yeah, what off it?" Tazuna slurred in a slightly drink tone.

"Kakashi-sensei, there are Shinobi in that country, too right?" Sakura asked.

"No, there are no Shinobi in Nami no Kuni. But in other countries there are hidden villages, each with their unique customs and cultures where Shinobi reside. To the people on this continent the existence of Shinobi villages means strength, military strength. In other words, that's how they protect themselves and maintain the balance of power with other countries. The Shinobi villages are not controlled by any government, they're independent and have equal status. Now a small island like the land of waves has natural protection from the sea, so there is no need for a shinobi village. The five ancient lands that possess Shinobi villages are the lands of Fire, Water, Lightning, Wind and Earth. They each occupy vast territories, together they are known as the five great Shinobi nations, the land of fire has the village hidden in the leaves, the land of water has the village hidden in the mist, the land of lightning has the village hidden in the clouds, the land of wind has the village hidden in the sands and the land of earth has the village hidden in the stones. Only the leaders of these villages are permitted to carry the title of Kage, the Hokage, the Mizukage, the Raikage, the Kazekage and the Tsuchikage. The five Shadows that reign over hundreds of thousands of Shinobi." Kakashi explained the workings of the Nations to his Genin.

"Wow! So, the Hokage is really important!" Sakura gushed in wonder. "Hmm, is that old man really that important? I'm not buying it…" she added in her mind.

"For being such an important figure, he went down with a single jutsu…" Naruto sweat dropped as he thought how undignified the old man acted when he used his sexy jutsu on him.

"Hey!" Kakashi shouted in annoyance. "You just doubted Hokage-sama, didn't you!?"

Sakura and Naruto whistled innocently while Sasuke looked away, having had his own doubts about the old geezer.

"Well anyway, there aren't any ninja battles during a C-Ranked mission, so you can relax." Kakashi said as he rubbed Sakura's head lightly.

"Then we are not going to run into any foreign Ninja or anything, right?" Sakura asked her teacher.

Kakashi chuckled, "not likely."

The group of five soon continued to walk along the road to the old drunks' country, they passed over a small wooden bridge when Naruto, who still was at the front, noticed something that set alarm bells off in his mind.

"A puddle of water? During a dry season like this? It hasn't rained in weeks, farmers are complaining everywhere that they can't water their crops." Naruto's mind worked in overtime and his body tensed slightly, which didn't go unnoticed by Kakashi or Sasuke, only Sakura and Tazuna were unaware.

Sasuke didn't know why Naruto suddenly seemed to get ready for a fight, he noticed how the blonds hand got ready to draw out a Kunai. That's when Sasuke noticed the same puddle a little further ahead on the road and he too realized that a puddle shouldn't exist during such a hot and dry season.

The group of five passed the puddle, Sasuke and Naruto acting like they didn't notice and just as the group passed, a pair of heads popped out of the puddle, the two-man looked at the backs of the group before they climbed out of their place of hiding. The man wore Kiri forehead protectors and breathing masks to hide their faces, they each had a claw-like gauntlet with a Shuriken-like chain running between them, connecting their gauntlets to each other.

The man nodded to each other and ran after the group of 'unaware' Shinobi and their target, quickly the two Kiri-nin wrapped Kakashi up in the chain and prepared to rip him apart, but they were stopped before they could pull on the chain.

As soon as Naruto noticed that the two missing-nin planned on taking out their sensei, he reached into his orange-black mantle and drew out a small scroll, he unfurled it and let some of his chakra undo the storage seal written on the scroll.

In a puff of smoke Naruto held a Tanto in his hand, the blade was about as long as Naruto's forearm and the handle was black in color and wrapped in red cloth to give him a better grip on the weapon.

As soon as he held his weapon in hand Naruto dashed at the two Kiri-nin that just finished wrapping Kakashi up in their weird chain, he went for the man that had a horn-like protrusion on the right of his forehead protector and tried to cut the man's hand of.

The Kiri-nin cursed as he realized that he was about to lose his hand, the Tanto of the blond looked well forged so he didn't want to place all of his hopes on the fact that his gauntlet possibly could take the blow. The man disconnected the chain from his gauntlet and jumped back to dodge Naruto's swing.

Naruto didn't allow the Kiri-nin to regroup with his partner and went after him pushing the man back with quick thrusts to lethal points of the masked man, who was dodging or trying to block the onslaught of furious blade thrusts.

While Naruto dealt with the first Kiri-nin Sasuke went after the other man who cursed his apparent brother quite vocally for chickening out when they could've dealt with the Jonin of the group. Sasuke reached into his pouch and drew out some Kunai and sent them flying at the cursing man, hoping to quickly taking him out. The Uchiha scowled as the missing-nin blocked his Kunai with the gauntlet on his right arm, Sasuke quickly dashed at the man and engaged him in Taijutsu, pushing the enemy ninja back.

Ducking under a swing from the missing nin Sasuke jumped up and buried a flying knee into the man's chin, breaking the breathing mask and sending the Kiri-nin stumbling back. Pushing his advantage Sasuke once more rushed the man, jumping quickly he gave the still recovering man a snap-kick to the temple before landing and spinning low to take the man's feet out from under him with a leg-sweep.

Naruto was standing across from his battered and exhausted enemy, glaring the bleeding man down harshly. Naruto didn't have many problems against the Kiri-nin, he simply didn't allow the man any room to collect himself and attacked him furiously with his Tanto. The man tried to block Naruto's thrusts with his Gauntlet but still took some hits, with each hit he took the man became slower and slower until Naruto managed to corner him with his back against a tree.

Naruto raised his Tanto to the missing-nin's throat and prepared to take him out for good, while on the other side Sasuke drew a Kunai as he too readied himself to end his opponent once and for all.

Sakura and Tazuna looked absolutely flabbergasted, the fights of Sasuke and Naruto didn't last more than three minutes and two fresh Genin took down two missing-nin and made it look easy. Sakura was honestly ashamed of herself, she once again did nothing but stand in front of Tazuna in order to make sure that the client was safe. Her two teammates were leagues ahead of her, she honestly believed that Sasuke and Naruto could do better if they were on a two-man squad without her as a deadweight to drag the team down.

She needed to get stronger, she didn't want to feel useless any-longer.

Kakashi smiled at the scene playing out in front of him, his team acted perfectly. Naruto was the first to notice that the puddle was fake and his body tensing alerted Sasuke of the danger. The two boys didn't let their nerves get to them and played it cool until the enemy made the first move, once they did Sasuke and Naruto quickly jumped into action and easily defeated their opponents. All the while Sakura made sure that the client was safe, maybe not a flashy job but important none-the-less and someone needs to take the role of being support, not everyone can be a frontline fighter.

Kakashi slowly clapped his hands, gaining the attention of the client and his genin, "excellent job Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura. You three did great, no, you did perfectly, this is exactly the way a team should act, I'm proud of you." He said in an easy-going tone before becoming serious, "don't kill the missing-nin Naruto, Sasuke. We'll need them to answer some questions."

The two brothers were quickly tied up against a tree and Kakashi stood above them. "Now then, Gōzu and Meizu, the Demon Brothers of Kirigakure no Sato. Wanted for killing a Jonin that led you during a mission, what could you filthy backstabbers be after? Who was your target and who do you work for?"

"Fuck you Konoha trash-ARGHHH!" Gōzu screamed as Kakashi stepped on his kneecap and grinded his foot slightly, nearly breaking the ex chunin's knee.

"Let me repeat that, answer my question and you will be brought before the Mizukage alive to see your punishment. Refuse to answer and only your heads will go back to your village and I will become slightly richer through your bounty." Kakashi threatened.

"Damn, Kakashi-sensei is really going to town on those two poor bastards." Naruto muttered to Sasuke and Sakura, "makes me kind of think that killing them might've been a mercy."

Sakura gulped slightly, "yeah, I know… I never thought that our easy-going sensei could be so brutal."

"Please," Sasuke butted in. "Kakashi-sensei is a Jonin and if rumors are true, he was one of the best ANBU Konoha's ever had. He killed and tortured countless people before, it's part of our job and we should just get used to it. No need to cry for two bastards that would've killed us without a second thought, it's simply a matter of principal, in our world it's kill or be killed."

After a few minutes of interrogation Kakashi had everything he needed from the Demon Brothers and knocked them out, he would send a letter to the Hokage requesting a hunter-nin to collect them later.

For now, the one-eyed Jonin had more pressing matters to deal with, "you lied to us Tazuna-san, this isn't just a simple C-Rank mission. You have an entire squad of high-level ninja after your head, a squad of ninja led by none other than Zabuza Momochi, the Demon of the Mist. A high A-Ranked missing-nin, someone no Genin team should even dream of taking on, the fact that you knew about this and willingly allowed MY Genin to walk into something that could cost them their lives is honestly pissing me off."

Tazuna paled and backpaddled slightly as Kakashi let some of his killing intent hit the bridge-builder.

"I'm sorry! I truly am but I didn't have a choice!" Tazuna shouted in shame, "my country is under the boot of a tyrant, it has been for a while now. The bridge I'm building is the last hope we have and I'm the only decent architect that's left in Nami no Kuni, if I die the country dies with me. The shipping magnate Gatō, one of the richest men in the Elemental Nations, has been using Nami no Kuni as his base of operations to conduct his shadier businesses. We have been his slaves ever since he took control of our harbor's, he raised taxes for the shipping industry so high that we no longer are capable of profiting from our livelihood, fishing. We are all in Gatō's dept in some form and he has been collecting depts without mercy. If someone didn't have the money to pay the depts, Gatō ordered his goons to take our women, be they wife's or daughters and forced them to work the debts off as prostitutes in one of Gatō's many brothels. Getting a team from Konoha to protect me while I'm building the bridge was our countries last hope, everyone gave the rest of their meager savings and put them together, but even that only was enough to afford a C-Ranked mission."

Sakura was shocked and disgusted at the things the people of Nami had to go through while Naruto and even Sasuke scowled in anger. The only one that seemed to be unaffected was Kakashi, he had lived through so much that nothing could shock or disgust him anymore.

"Please, my country is suffering every day. So many of my daughters' friends had to prostitute themselves to save their families, so many innocent girls were forced to be sold as slaves to some disgusting rich men and so many men lost everything they had. My family will soon have to go through the same fate, I already lost my son in law to that disgusting pig Gatō, I had to watch as he was tortured and executed in front of my daughter and grandson's faces. I cannot watch as my daughter will be forced to sell her body in order to give my grandson a life, I will do everything you ask of me, name it and I will do it. Just please, I beg you, help me save my country and family!"

Kakashi sighed, he could feel for the man, still this was a big risk that could cost him the lives of his team. He looked at his three genin and noticed the fire in their eyes, he knew they were ready to help the poor man. "Alright, it's your choice you three, are you willing to risk your life's in order to help Tazuna-san and Nami no Kuni or do you wish to leave him and head back to the village?"

Naruto didn't need to think about the question at all. "Let's do this! I'm willing to go all the way if it means saving innocents."

Sakura looked unsure for a moment before she hesitantly nodded. "I'm willing to help as well…"

Sasuke simply smirked and nodded his head, causing Tazuna to sigh in relieve.

"Well then, team seven the mission parameters have changed. Let's save a country, shall we!?" Kakashi eye smiled at his team before he began to take point and continue their journey.

The group continued their journey to Nami no Kuni without any more troubles so far, they traveled on foot until Tazuna directed them to the sea where they had to take a ferry that now directed them through the misty waters of Nami no Kuni.

The group was silent like the man steering the little boat told them to be, the man was apparently an associate of Tazuna's and one of the many who risked their necks to see the bridge completed.

"The bridge isn't far now; our destination is just ahead." The man steering the boat said in a quiet whisper.

Naruto ignored the little conversations that went on between Kakashi and Tazuna as the Jonin wanted to learn more about the situation they were in. Naruto didn't need an explanation though, it was your typical rich bad guy story after all, he was more interested in the coming challenges they would face on this mission.

He could remember Kakashi saying something about a high-ranking Shinobi being their enemy and he was eager to find out how he would stack up. If he did good on this mission Naruto was one step closer to his ultimate goal of surpassing his father and making his parents proud.

Naruto reached into his mantle/haori and pulled out a small scroll, he unfurled it and read the content of it with rapt attention. This scroll was written by Tobirama Senju and later refined and updated by his own father, it was the scroll that helped two of the most powerful men in the Elemental Nations master the Hiraishin no Jutsu. It was now in Naruto's hands and he had the honor of not only reading the scroll but also to refine it just like his father before him did.

But to do that he first needed to master the already existing content of the scroll which was easier said than done. Naruto read this scroll hundreds of times already and still couldn't make any sense of the content of it, the scroll was filled with the descriptions of a dozen extremely complex seals that were necessary to create the Hiraishin, every person that wanted to use the jutsu had to work with these seals and combine them in a way that would result in one's own Sealing formula that then could be placed onto objects to teleport to. Every formula had to be unique to the user, copying an already existing one was not possible, which led to Naruto's predicament, he swore to become the second, technically third(considering Tobirama), flash but to achieve that he needed to master the Hiraishin.

"We're approaching our destination." The man said, ripping Naruto from his thoughts.

Naruto looked around and immediately noticed the outline of a rather big bridge that could be seen through the mist, damn that old man was right. He was an excellent builder after all and here Naruto thought he was just a drunk.

They were led through a long dark tunnel under the bridge and when they emerged on the other side a beautiful little village came into few. The water was blue and the houses, while worn down had some charm to them. Naruto had to wonder how Nami looked when it was in it's prime.

The boat docked on a small pier and they got off before the man driving the boat took off again. "Alright, get me to my home, and I mean in one piece." Tazuna said, some of his earlier rudeness returning.

"Right," Kakashi nodded. "The next Ninja they send after us won't be chunin, it'll be Zabuza himself. I hope my team can stay alive against one of the seven swordsman…"

The group of five once again walked along a dirt road towards their final destination in Nami, nothing worth mentioning happened during their walk.

It would only take them another hour of waling until they reached Tazuna's house where the real mission would begin. Still the four Shinobi kept their eyes peeled for anything out of the ordinary, they were already attacked once so it would stand to reason that they would be attacked again.

Naruto suddenly tensed as he walked next to Sasuke, he grabbed a Kunai from his pouch and threw it into a bush on the right of the road. The other three Shinobi got ready for battle while Tazuna freaked out slightly.

After a few tense moment's Naruto slowly made his way over to the bush only to sweat drop. "A rabbit… A freaking rabbit. You've got to be kidding me." Naruto muttered.

"Naruto! You nearly killed a poor little rabbit! How could you!?" Sakura shouted while she ran over to the poor little animal, hugging it closely while glaring at a sheepish looking Naruto.

"Tsk, don't get all jumpy on us dobe. If you can't handle the pressure of being a Shinobi, you should've stayed at home." Sasuke smirked condescendingly at Naruto.

"Is that right teme? If I remember correctly, I wasn't the one who screamed like a girl as Tora the Demon Cat scratched away at your face." Naruto smirked back at Sasuke who growled at the memory of that evil demon putting his pretty face through the meat-grinder.

While the three kids bantered between each other Kakashi was deep in thought, "a rabbit with white fur shouldn't be here during summer, except if it was raised indoors…" Kakashi's eyes widened and he jumped into action shouting "Get down!" while he ripped Tazuna down with him.

The three genin did as told and hit the dirt just as a huge cleaver-like sword flew over their heads, nearly taking them off. The sword continued to spin in the air before it is a tree and got lodged into it. A man suddenly appeared through a shunshin and stood on the blade stuck in the tree, the man wore camouflaged trousers, he was shirtless and had bandages wrapped around his mouth, he also wore his headband sideways on his head, telling everyone that saw him that he was a missing-nin from Kiri.

"Well, well, if it isn't Zabuza Momochi, A-Ranked missing-nin from Kirigakure no Sato, wanted for leading a coup against the Mizukage" Kakashi said as he stepped in front of his team.

The three genin looked at Zabuza and tensed slightly, this guy was on a whole other level that the last two Shinobi they faced.

"You three stay back, you aren't ready to fight someone like Zabuza. If he's our opponent I will need this…" Kakashi said before he lifted the headband covering his left eye.

"Kakashi of the Sharingan, did I get that right?" Zabuza asked, his voice sounding gruff and deep sending chills down the genin's spines, though Sasuke looked at Kakashi in shock. "While I'd love to fight you, we can make things far easier. Hand over the old drunk and you can go home with your genin. I know that your team isn't paid to do this mission, the old geezer doesn't have the money for an A-Rank after all…"

"I'm sorry but I'll have to decline. Sasuke, Sakura, Naruto quick Manji formation, protect Tazuna and stay out of this fight." Kakashi ordered before he opened his left eye, revealing a fully matured Sharingan.

"Well… Looks like I get to see the Sharingan in action." Zabuza said as he fully turned to Kakashi. "This is an honor…"

Sasuke starred at Kakashi in shock and confusion, how could his teacher have a Sharingan?

"Kakashi Hatake, in the Assassination Unit of Kiri we had a standing order to destroy you on sight. Your profile was in our bingo book, they called you the man who copied over a thousand Jutsu, Kakashi the Copy Ninja."

Sasuke, Sakura and Naruto looked shocked at that information, they already guessed that Kakashi was good but to hear that he was this good was a surprise to them.

"Wow, that's so awesome, dettebayo!" Naruto thought.

"Now enough talking, I need to exterminate that old man. But I guess I'll have to eliminate you first, eh Kakashi?" Zabuza vanished along with his sword and reappeared standing on the large river nearby.

Zabuza took a strange stance, he raised one hand high above his head and the other did he ram-sign in front of his face. "Kirigakure no Jutsu!"(1)

The entire area surrounding team seven was suddenly blanketed in a thick layer of fog, hiding Zabuza from view.

"He vanished." Sakura explained and turned to Kakashi, "Sensei, who is that man?"

"Zabuza Momochi, the ex-leader of Kirigakure's assassination unit, he's a master of the silent killing technique. As the name suggests it happens in an instant, without sound or warning of any kind. It's so fast that you pass from this world without realizing what happened, the Sharingan cannot fully neutralized it so stay on guard."

The genin gulped simultaneously.

"Well, if we fail, we only lose our lives." Kakashi joked slightly.

"How can you say that!?" Sakura glared at her teachers back.

The mist got thicker and Kakashi vanished from the young Shinobi's view. Naruto drew his tanto while his teammates took out a Kunai each, "The fog, it's getting thicker and thicker…" Naruto though as he gripped his blade tightly and tried to stop himself from shaking.

"Eight Points…" Zabuza's disembodied voice came from all directions along with the heavy feeling of killing intent. "Larynx, Spine, Lungs, Liver, Subclavian Artery, Kidneys, Jugular, Heart… Now which will be my kill point…"

The silence was maddening to the genin and the bridge builder, there was a thick heavy feeling in the air and the fog seemed to be alive, as if it made sure they had no way of knowing what happened around them. It was only them in their formation and deafening silence, Naruto looked around and tried to make out something, but he had no luck.

The blond was getting sick of this damned mist, he placed his tanto under his armpit and went through a series of hand-seals ending on the snake sign. He kneaded a lot of chakra into his hands, so much that his entire body began to glow light-blue and he devolved a slight glowing aura of chakra, he just hoped it would work, he never tried this jutsu on such a large scale before and didn't exactly know what he should expect.

"Fūton: Daitoppa!"(2) Naruto shouted and clapped his hands together.

A huge burst of wind surrounded Naruto, looking like a small tornado, before exploding outwards with enough force to strain some trees, making them creek in protest. The mist was completely blown away, revealing everything in a hundred-meter radius.

Sasuke and Sakura had to grind their feet into the ground in order to stop themselves from being blown away, Tazuna stumbled back and had to claw at the ground as he tumbled for a few meters.

Kakashi shot Naruto an approving glance before he focused back on the fight, keeping his eyes peeled and waiting for Zabuza to make the first move.

Sasuke looked at Naruto in some awe, he knew that the blond was far more skilled than he let on, but he didn't want to believe that he'd be this good. It hurt his pride to admit that another genin was better than himself in Ninjutsu, but that little demonstration of Naruto's blew his mediocre Fireball Jutsu out of the water. He needed to up his training, he would not allow Naruto to get any further ahead than he already was.

The genin suddenly tensed as the killing intent in the air suddenly increased manifolds, it became so bad that the three young shinobi began to sweat and shake violently. Naruto managed to take the killing intent better than his teammate due to having experienced the killing intent of the Kyuubi, but he was still on edge and sweating slightly.

Sasuke and Sakura though were hit hard by it, Sakura was scared stiff, she had wide eyes and shook like a leaf in the wind. Sasuke was beginning to see hallucinations and fiddled with his Kunai, nearly turning insane as the pressure of the situation got to the Uchiha.

"Sasuke, Sakura, get yourselves under control!" Naruto barked. "This is really not the right time to freeze up, if you do, you'll die here!"

Sasuke and Sakura were snapped out of their little trance by Naruto's voice, they looked at the blond and noticed that, while tense, Naruto looked ton still be able to fight.

"You'll die anyway…" Came Zabuza's voice as he suddenly appeared in the middle of their group, ready to take them out.

Naruto spun around quicker than Zabuza expected and stabbed his tanto into the Kiri-nin's face, only for Zabuza to turn into water.

"Mizu Bunshin!" Kakashi thought looking around.

"Sensei behind you!" Sasuke shouted just as Zabuza appeared behind Kakashi and bisected the silver haired Jonin by the waist.

"It's over!" Zabuza shouted in joy only to see Kakashi turn into water as well.

Zabuza looked at the puddle of water that was Kakashi in shock before he straightened as he felt cold steel at his throat.

"Now it's over." Kakashi whispered into Zabuza's ear and pressed the Kunai a bit harder against the Kiri-nin's throat.

Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura and Tazuna looked relieved, they thought that their Sensei was a goner there for a moment. Then again, Kakashi did escape their little trick during the Bell Test, so they shouldn't be too surprised.

Zabuza suddenly began to chuckle lightly, getting raised eyebrows from everyone watching.

Zabuza suddenly burst into water and the real on appeared behind Kakashi, "I'm not that easy to kill Kakashi." Zabuza swung his cleaver at Kakashi who barely managed to duck under it but got nailed with a kick that send him flying out onto the water of the nearby river.

Zabuza dashed after the Konoha Jonin and reached the river just as Kakashi tried to rise out of the water, the Kiri-nin went through a series of hand-signs and shouted out the name of his Jutsu. "Suirō no Jutsu!"(3)

Kakashi got trapped in a small bubble-sphere of water and cursed himself. "Damnit! I shouldn't have underestimated him!"

"This prison is made out of water but it's stronger than steel, it's hard to fight when you can't move, isn't it? So much for the great Kakashi, I'll finish you off later but first you little team will have to be eliminated." Zabuza made a water clone to send after the three genin.

Naruto frowned at the situation they were in, things weren't looking good for them, but he might be able to get Kakashi out of that prison with a well-timed water jutsu. The problem was the water clone of Zabuza's, he needed to get rid of it in order to reach the water himself.

The only silver-lining was that a water clone was far weaker than the original, if the three of them worked together they should be able to destroy the clone rather easily.

"You think wearing a headband makes you a Shinobi, when you've hovered between life and death so many times it no longer faces you, then you may be called a Shinobi. When you've become so deadly your profile was added to my bingo book, then you may have earned the title of Shinobi." Zabuza spoke in a low menacing tone. "But to call upstarts like you Shinobi is a joke."

Zabuza vanished into the mist again, "Where is he?" Naruto thought before he dashed to the side, narrowly escaping a kick from Zabuza, surprising the Kiri-nin slightly. Naruto immediately reached into his pouch and threw some Kunai at the water clone in hopes of dispelling him quickly.

The clone jumped to the side and directed a raised eyebrow at the glaring blond. "Well, well, well. It seems you do have some fire in you for a brat." He chuckled menacingly before rushing Naruto and engaging the blonde in a Taijutsu battle.

"Damnit, this isn't how I wanted this to go at all!" Naruto though before looking at his teammates while trying to dodge Zabuza's fast and powerful attacks. "What are you two doing!? Attack the real Zabuza while his clone is distracted!"

Naruto dodged a kick aimed at his head and tried to sweep Zabuza's feet out from under him, but the clone jumped over his leg-sweep chuckling all the while. "You think I would allow your little friends to simply get away from me?"

Naruto smirked and made a cross-like sign with his fingers, "I don't think, I know. Kage Bunshin no Jutsu!" In a puff of smoke Zabuza was surrounded by twenty clones, each glaring at him while slowly drawing either tanto's, kunai or shuriken. A few clones even went through chains of hand-signs, it was enough to even make the battle-hardened Kiri-nin go slightly bug-eyed.

"Fūton: Daitoppa!" Three clones shouted and released a powerful gust of wind at the Zabuza clone, who managed to jump out of the way in time.

Suddenly the clone of Zabuza had too duck in order to escape a tanto that nearly took off his head, only to have to roll aside as a few Kunai hit his previous position. Naruto smirked and sunk off from the fight, letting his clones deal with Zabuza's clone, he regrouped with Sasuke and Sakura who were trying to figure out a way to attack Zabuza and get Kakashi free.

Zabuza couldn't believe his eyes, the blond brat suddenly turned the tides on this battle just like that. He scowled and created another three water clones and send them out to help his first one that was being pressured by the blondes twenty clones.

"Great, what are we supposed to do now? One clone was bad enough, but four? How are we supposed to defeat them?" Sakura asked in worry.

"Ignore the clones, I can always create another twenty Kage Bunshin in order to keep them busy. We need to take out the original, the clones don't matter right now." Naruto said in a commanding tone.

"And how are we supposed to do that dobe?" Sasuke asked while keeping an eye on their surroundings.

"I need you to keep Zabuza's attention on you for a while, I know a Suiton Jutsu that is strong enough to break Zabuza's concentration if I can manage to pull of the hand-signs. Sadly, for us tough, the chain of hand-seals is long and will take me a minute or two to complete as I haven't fully mastered the technique yet." Naruto explained to his teammates.

Sasuke nodded, "I should be able to keep Zabuza's attention for a while but hurry it up dobe, I really don't feel like getting sliced in half by a freaking cleaver."

Naruto nodded and quietly substituted himself with a clone before he snuck to the river so that he could go through the hand-seals, he began the chain and looked at Sasuke who was helping his clones fight while Sakura hung back and protected the bridge builder. Naruto focused on the hand-seals and had to strain his mind to remember the individual signs, when he said that he hadn't mastered the Jutsu he wasn't lying, he only had one of his clones read over the scroll that contained the Jutsu and wanted to master it once they came back from this mission.

Bad choice now that he looked back on it…

"Naruto! Look out! Zabuza noticed you!" Sasuke shouted as he dodged another swing from one pf the Zabuza clones.

Naruto looked back to Sasuke and cursed under his breath, one of the water clones was heading his way and he couldn't break off the Jutsu or their plan would be ruined, he sped up the movements of his hand while he prayed to any Kami that may listed to him that he would hit all the necessary seals to perform the technique.

Just before the water clone could take Naruto's head off with its large sword Naruto hit the last seal, tiger, and called out the technique.

"Suiton: Suigadan no Jutsu!"(4)

The water under the real Zabuza and Kakashi slowly began to twist in a drill like motion, suddenly a fang-like drill shot out of the water and hit Zabuza in the back hard enough for him to lose concentration and release the water prison as well as his clones at the same time.

Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura slowly sighed in relief but stiffened once the glare of a furious Zabuza was directed at them. Luckily for the Genin Kakashi forced Zabuza's attention off of them, the three new Shinobi were awed by the fight Zabuza and Kakashi had with one another, there truly was a HUGE gap between Genin and Jonin.

What was especially badass was when Kakashi began to copy Zabuza's every movement, "hey teme, is this the power of the Sharingan? To mimic someone's every movement?"

Sasuke looked at Naruto who just came up to him before he nodded, "amongst other things, yes. The Sharingan has the ability to mimic movements and even predict them to some degree, it has the ability to copy almost any jutsu in existence, including Taijutsu, Genjutsu, Kenjutsu, Shurikenjutsu and many more. And that's just scratching the surface of the Sharingan's abilities."

"Amazing!" Sakura gushed at the Uchiha while Naruto began to see the Sharingan in a different light.

"Damn that's one hax power, and the teme didn't even include the casting of Genjutsu with a single glance. I really need to be careful if I have to fight a Sharingan user like Kakashi and Sasuke or Kami forbid Itachi." Naruto thought while he nodded at Sasuke and turned back towards the fight between Jonin's.

Naruto's eyes gained a slight twinkle in them as he saw both Kakashi and Zabuza throw massive Water Dragon's at each other in perfect synch. He wanted to learn that Jutsu, but he seriously had to work at the speed of his hand-signs if he wanted to learn that technique. Both Zabuza and Kakashi nearly had taken a minute to complete the chain of hand-seals for the jutsu, if they took a minute, Naruto would need three or four minutes to use the jutsu and that simply wasn't acceptable in the Ninja world.

Naruto payed even closer attention to the fight as he noticed that the two Jonin began to go through even more hand-signs, he couldn't track the movements of the two adult ninja's hands anymore. Suddenly Zabuza seemed to crack under the strain of Kakashi copying all of his movements which resulted in Kakashi landing a massive and devastating Jutsu on the missing-nin from Kiri, seemingly ending the fight.

"Damn, Kakashi-sensei truly is amazing…" Naruto thought as he watched Kakashi moving towards a fallen Zabuza with a Kunai raised to end the missing-nin.

Just as Kakashi was getting ready to strike something hit Zabuza in the neck and another ninja wearing a kimono and a mask jumped out of the trees landing in front of Kakashi.

"Thank you for helping me take out Zabuza Momochi, I've been hunting him for months now and you just made it possible for me to take him out without much effort." The masked ninja said in a very soft tone. "I will take his body somewhere else so that the young Genin do not have to witness the gruesome sight of me cutting of Zabuza's head." The nin vanished with Zabuza's body as vast and silently as he or she first arrived.

Kakashi turned to the Genin and the relieved client and was about to say something before he stumbled a bit and fell over unconsciously in front of them.

"Well that was anticlimactic." Naruto joked slightly.

"Naruto! Not now! Kakashi needs help fast!" Sakura shouted at the blond.

"Don't worry Sakura, Kakashi isn't an Uchiha and I believe that his Sharingan was implanted. So, I believe that using the Sharingan puts a huge strain on his body, he just suffers from Chakra exhaustion and needs to rest." Sasuke spoke up and gave his diagnosis of Kakashi's state.

"Well, how long till we are at your house Tazuna?" Naruto asked the bridge builder.

"About an hour of walking at a normal pace." Tazuna answered.

"Welp, then let's grab our sensei and go…"

Naruto was looking forward to what other things that mission held in store for them…

A/N: This is the fourth chapter of Second Flash and we are finally in Wave!

Now I'm normally not a fan of following Canon and I WILL change things up in the future and then finally completely leave Canon and only use it as a guideline but for now I need the first few chapters to set my story up.
