Psalms of the Wonderbat

A/N: Sorry this took so long and thank you to everyone who has read and/or reviewed the first two Psalms on the BMWW Playlist! I am so grateful for the positive feedback! I got side tracked by a few different songs that I just had to start writing ideas for and I ended up with a lot of unfinished psalms! I finally finished this one and should have then next one up soon, since I have quite a few already started. Here comes the next Psalm – Enjoy!

Disclaimer: I do not own Batman, Wonder Woman or any other recognizable characters (DC Comics does), nor do I own any of songs from which I have drawn inspiration from for these song fics; all lyrics will be credited to their respective performers as such and are used for reference purposes only.

This story is set post-Justice League: Unlimited. It contains references to the Batman/Superman World's Finest episodes/movie and the Justice League episode "Star-crossed". I am blatantly ignoring the DCAU's Bruce/Barbara pairing. In my world, she is with Dick and never dated Bruce. Sorry, my story, my rules.

Dancing with a Stranger

Las Vegas, May 5th, 18:44 EST, Team Bride's Suite

"Ladies! The limo's downstairs! Let's go!"

The soon-to-be Mrs. Clark Kent and her entourage gathered in the foyer of their luxury Las Vegas penthouse suite, readying themselves for what was promised to be an epic night. Well, according to Wally anyway.

When news broke about the bachelor and bachelorette parties being held in Las Vegas on the same weekend, Wally nearly vibrated through the Watchtower floor with excitement. It was just a coincidence and it was explicitly stated that this wasn't a joint boy-girl party. If their paths crossed, so be it but, each group had their own plans. Vegas was a big place after all, they probably wouldn't see each other anyway.

Lois Lane, soon-to-be Lane-Kent, was outfitted in a white tube top and matching miniskirt with a see-through illusion overlay that hugged her body like a second skin, and white stilettos on her feet. In the grand tradition of the bachelorette party attire, a hot pink sash was draped from her right shoulder to her left hip with the word "BRIDE" in big, white block letters across it.

Next to her was Diana, Princess of Themyscira. After getting over her jealousy of everyone pairing Superman and Wonder Woman together for years, and seeing first hand that they were more like brother and sister than lovers, Lois got to know Diana and they soon became friends. Diana was dressed in a tight, rich red sequin spaghetti-strap dress that stopped mid-thigh and had a deep V-cut neckline. Her ever-present bracers adorned her wrists, silver stilettoes on her feet, and her hair tumbled in inky black waves down her back and over her shoulders.

"God, I've needed a night out like this forever!" Shayera exclaimed as she, Kara, Dinah, and Barbara arrived in the foyer. Shayera was wearing a dark green, metallic fabric halter A-line dress that stopped just above her knees. Kara was sporting a short red dress that resembles Galatea's uniform. Dinah was dressed in in a short Asian-inspired dress in black and purple metallic fabric with a cut-out section on the chest to show off her ample cleavage. Finally, Barbara was wearing a tight little black strapless number.

Lois had a bachelorette party back in Metropolis with her non-superhero family and friends a few weeks ago but, as the woman who was about to marry a founder of the Justice League, the women in the organization closest to said founder wanted to properly welcome her into their superhero family.

"This night is going to be one for the ages!" Kara and Barbara high-fived each other.

"We had better get going to dinner. We wouldn't want to rush getting to Zatanna's show after," Diana said.

"Let's go!" Dinah hooted.

With all the ladies accounted for and dressed to kill, they headed down to the lobby to meet their ride to dinner.

"But… but… It's tradition!"

"For the hundredth time, West, we are not going to a strip club!"

"Oh, come on!"

In the Groom's penthouse suite, located in another luxury hotel somewhere on the other side of the strip, his entourage was getting ready for their night of festivities.

"I thought you'd be down with at least one! Aren't you supposed to be a playboy billionaire?" Wally taunted Bruce.

"We don't need strippers to have a good time," Bruce hissed, "Clark doesn't want them and I'm pretty sure Lois would castrate all of us for even thinking about bringing him to one."

"Aw, man!" Wally sighed as he flopped back into a couch in the main room of the suite. John was seated to Wally's right, Dick and J'onn, in human form, to Wally's left. Across from them sat Bruce, Clark and Ollie on another couch. All the men were dressed in varying degrees of dressy-casual.

The phone on the table next to John started to ring and he answered it. "The limo is downstairs now," John spoke as he hung up the phone.

"Let's get this party started then, shall we?" Ollie said, standing to his feet.

"Alright!" Wally exclaimed as he leapt up from his seat. "Let's do this!"

Las Vegas, May 5th, 22:37 EST, Team Bride

After a delightful meal at one of the top restaurants in the country, Team Bride was treated to front row seats at Zatanna's new show that was a mix of Cirque du Soleil and magic. Once finished there, the ladies, now with Zatanna joining the group, headed off to the hottest club in Las Vegas to dance, drink and party the night away in V.I.P. style, complete with a private room.

The club was open-concept with a massive dancefloor about the size of half a football field in the middle of the room. There were private V.I.P. lounges raised up overlooking the dancefloor on the east and west walls of the club. The group made their way to their reserved lounge on the east wall. A round of shots were ordered as they settled in.

Three large couches arranged in a 'U' shape in the center of the room, with a view of the dancefloor, seen through the glass privacy wall. The room also included a personal bar and waitstaff to accommodate their every need for drinks and food.

The shots arrive and a toasted is proposed by the Bride's group to the Bride and the shots are taken, another round ordered.

"So, what do you want to do next?" Lois asked the group.

"We found this fun looking "Never-Have-I-Ever" "Truth or Dare"-type bachelorette party card game online. It looks like it's got some very spicy questions," Dinah said as she wiggled her eyebrows suggestively.

"I'm down if you ladies aren't chicken?" Shayera taunted the others.

"Watch who you're calling chicken, Wings," Kara answered back.

"Well, I guess that's settled! Let's get this game set up and I'll get us another round!" Kara said, practically flying off her seat. Lois laughed and shook her head at her new family's antics.

Las Vegas, May 5th, 21:56 EST, Team Groom

After the best meal most of them had ever had, the Groom and his entourage made their way to the hottest night club in Las Vegas. Bruce knew the owner and got the biggest and most private of all the V.I.P. Lounges in the club, which was located on the West wall. The layout was similar to the room the women were occupying. Drinks were ordered, consumed, and reordered as Team Groom partook in the comradery of the Bachelor Party.

"To Clark: one lucky S.O.B.!" Wally toasted.

"To Clark!" everyone echoed, as they clinked their drinking glassed together.

"Thanks, guys," Clark sheepishly said. "I hope Lois is having as much…" he trailed off, his posture stiffening.

"What is it? Trouble?" John asked.

"Maybe," Clark answered cryptically, "The girls just walked in."

"Are you sure? How do you know?" Ollie asked, his head popping up to looked out the glass privacy wall that separated them from the club.

Clark dreamily smiled and replied: "I can sense Lois is near… I can fell her heartbeat and hear her voice through all the other noise without even trying when she is near."

"Uh oh. I think we lost him, guys," Dick joked. "Where are they?"

Clark stood up and motioned for his group to follow him to the privacy wall, "There," he pointed across the dancefloor to the East wall lounges," They are headed into that lounge over there."

All eyes followed the Man of Steel's direction and jaws suddenly hit the floor.

"Hot damn!"

"Whoa!"

"Why haven't I seen that dress before?!"

"Well, what are we waiting for?" Wally exclaimed. "Let's get them over here and we can all party together!"

"Remember, we are supposed to ignore them if we see them, as this is not supposed to be a joint venture," J'onn reminded his younger teammate.

"Oh, man!"

"Come on, let's get back to the party," John said. Everyone turned to make their way back to the sitting area, except for Bruce and Clark.

Bruce hadn't heard a word anyone had said since his eye found Diana's form on the other side of the dancefloor. She was the most beautiful thing he ever laid his eyes on. It stunned him just how much power she had over him.

"You know, if you wanted to slip away to go see her, I would cover for you," Clark chuckled as he clapped his hand on Bruce's shoulder, snapping Bruce out of his daydream. Bruce turned his gaze to his best friend, looking like a deer caught in headlights for a brief moment before regaining his composure.

"No. J'onn is right. The parties are supposed to be separate," Bruce said, as he started to turn to head towards the rest of the group. Clark tightened his grip slightly to halt Bruce's action.

"No one deserves to be happy more than you two. Don't miss your chance. I almost missed out on mine with Lois. Luckily, I was given a second chance," Clark told him earnestly, referencing the time in which Bruce had dated Lois and her almost moving to Gotham for him. "Don't miss your chance. You may never get a another," Clark said as they moved back to the couches in silence.

"So, how does this game work?" Lois asked.

"There are three different stacks of cards: Truth, Dare or Never-Have-I-Ever, the last one being a group shot thing, not just the person who picked it," Dinah explained, "The card stack selection spinner gets passed around to each person and that decides what pile the person who spun it has to draw from for their turn. When the spinner arrives at The Bride, she has her choice of stack. She can also pass the card on to anyone else and they have to take it, if The Bride doesn't want to do it. Also, if The Bride wants more back story to a Truth or Never-Have-I-Ever card, you have to elaborate."

"Alright!" Kara shouted, "Lois, you start it off!"

Lois reached for the "Never-Have-I-Ever" (NHIE) stack and proceeded to read it aloud: "Never have I ever… had sex or made out with a colleague at work. Take one shot for one and two for both and you have to say which one if it's only one of them," Lois looks up from the card to see various shades of pinks and reds staining the cheeks of the women of her entourage. "Come on, ladies, out with it!" Lois smirked at them.

Shayera said: "Both," and took two shots.

Kara said: "Made out," and took one shot.

Dinah said: "Both," and took two shots.

Barbara said: "Both," and took two shots.

Zatanna said: "Both," and took two shots.

Diana said: "Made out," and took one shot, as everyone nearly got whiplash from turning their heads to gawk at her.

"What?! When?! Who?! Where? Why?! How?!" Shayera shrieks, firing the questions off at pace that would make The Flash proud and at a decibel that made Kara cringe.

"Yeah, what she said!" Lois demanded, as Diana took a deep breath.

"Well, it happened right after we escaped from the Thanagarian army," Diana began. "We changed in to civilian attire and broken off in to three groups of pairs. We were found out when we tried to intervene in a skirmish and took cover in a restaurant. The owner and his wife hurried us to a back table that was recently vacated but had yet to be cleared, making it appear as if we had been there a while. I wrapped my arms around him and pulled him in to kiss. We kissed until the Thanagarian troops left and we made our way out the back of the restaurant."

"Wait a minute," Lois said, "I remember that. Clark told me about it. He and J'onn had been paired up. That leaves John, Wally and Bruce. Who were YOU with? Better yet, how was it?" Lois asked her, a mischievous grin played on her lips.

Diana's blush deepened as she tried to look away from all the penetrating stares of the friends.

"Come on, Di," Zatanna urged, "It's the rules. The Bride asked!" she playfully teased.

"It was Bruce," she said, mortified, "and… it was breathtaking."

Squeals and hoots erupted from all the ladies.

"This game is great!" Dinah wheezed through her laughter, and Diana tried to sink deeper into the couch to get away from her embarrassment.

"Are you going to answer or pass, Lo?" Kara asked.

Lois said: "I'm not as bashful as Diana: both," and took two shots. The group erupted into another bout of squeals at the thought of the Big Blue Boy Scout not being such a goodie two shoes after all.

"Ah!" Clark winced as the high-pitched squeals from the girls reached his sensitive hearing.

"What is it?" J'onn asked, "Trouble?"

"Not the kind you might think," Clark said as he tried to get the ringing in his ears to stop. "The girls are playing a Truth sharing game and they got a little excited over one of the ladies answers."

"Who? Do you know what they said? Can you listen in to see what they are talking about?" Wally asked.

"No! I'm not listening in on them!" Clark blushed. "It's girl talk and I'm not going to eavesdrop on my Fiancée and my friends!"

"Come on, aren't you a bit curious to hear what dirty little secrets about the two of you she is telling them?" Wally implored.

Clark was taken aback at the notion that Lois would tell her group about their more intimate moments. "She… she wouldn't do anything like that?"

The guys all stared at him like he had two heads.

"Oh, God, she would," Clark moaned as he put his head in his heads.

"Only one way to find out," Wally pressed again.

Clark listened for a few moments as his group sat comically still. Everyone was holding their breath in anticipation of Clark's finding, hoping it wasn't their secrets being divulged.

A smirked formed on Clark's lips which soon turned into a full-blown grin, his eyes alight with mischief, "Lois isn't the one they are interrogating; she's the interrogator."

"Who, man, who?! What are they saying?!" Wally yelled from the edge of his seat, barely keeping himself together.

"Apparently Diana made out with someone a while back and that information set the other off. And, before you ask, I will not tell you who she made out with," Clark said as he put up his hand to stop Wally for asking the inevitable follow up question.

"Ah, man!"

Las Vegas, May 5th, 23:57 EST, Team Bride

"Uh-uh, no way that's possible!"

"It is when a little magic is involved. I've never looked at whip cream the same again!"

Laughter erupted from the group of women at Zatanna's admission.

"Okay, Shay, it's your turn!" Zatanna said, passing the spinner to the game's next victim.

Shayera's spin lands on (NHIE). She picked up a card and read it aloud: "Never have I ever… dated one of my current partner's siblings or friends. Take one shot for each."

No one took a shot. Lois fiddled with her drink as she stared pointedly at the liquid in her glass. Kara and Barbara share a conspiratorial look and smirk as they looked back at the Bride.

"Lois, honey? Are you going to take a shot or chicken out...? I mean… opt out of answering this one…?" Kara's grin grew wider as she spoke, looking at Lois and her rapidly growing blush suffusing her cheeks. Lois' head snapped up to get a better look at the incoming ambush; all eyes now on her.

"Maybe I didn't take a shot because I didn't need to, not because I didn't want to answer!" Lois said, trying to defend herself.

"Did you forget who's in this room, Lois? I thought you said you weren't bashful! Out with it or I present my evidence," Barbara taunted. "Oh, you might want to grab the bottle for this one. A shot glass wouldn't begin to cover this doozy!"

The shock on the ladies' faces who were not in the know was obvious, curiosity peaking with this juicy little tidbit of information.

Lois groaned in embarrassment, "Okay, fine! But you are both gonna be so sorry next round," Lois took a breath and steeled herself against the ensuing barrage of questions from her next words. "Before they were friends or really knew each other at all, I kinda, sorta… dated… Bruce," the last part coming out just above a whisper but, everyone caught it.

"Oh, my, GOD!"

Who's a better kisser?!"

"Why'd you break up?!"

"Who's is bigger?!"

"Who looks better naked?!"

Who's better in bed?!"

"Was there ever talk of a threesome?!"

The questions she knew would come assaulted her ears.

"Hey! First of all, that's none of your business! Secondly, while Bruce and I may have been edging toward serious, we never made it far enough to answer most of those questions and I wouldn't even if I did have the data for it! And a threesome, really?"

"What?! This is Bruce Wayne we are talking about!" Kara said, "It's plausible it came up!"

"You know most of those stories are made up to perpetuate his cover, right?" Barbara said.

"You guys shouldn't poke the bear when she has all the power," Lois darkly stated, as she thought about her next victim for game.

"Okay, okay! We concede!" Shayera said, putting her hands up in defense. "Here you go, Di."

Diana, still a little stunned by the newest revelation, flicked the spinner. It landed on 'DARE'.

Picking up the card, she read: "Dare: Dance with a stranger of the opposite sex."

"Ooooooo!" the group sung together.

"Go get 'em, Tiger!" Shayera playfully teased.

With a sigh and a plea to her Gods for strength, Diana gracefully made her way out of the V.I.P. area and down towards the dancefloor.

Diana stood on the edge of the dancefloor, as she surveyed the male occupants, looking for a suitable candidate to dance with. It wasn't long until a very attractive man stepped up to save the damsel in distress, and requested a dance with her. Blushing slightly, she accepted his hand and he led her to the dancefloor.

She took in his appearance once more, now that she was much closer than before to him, wrapped in his arms. He was tall, with sandy brown hair, green eyes, tan skin and a muscular physique. Not such a bad dare after all, she thought to herself with a silent chuckle. But he doesn't make you feel the way dancing with Bruce made you feel… her subconscious chimed in on her thoughts. No, no he doesn't. No one could. Why must it be so difficult with him? It's gotten to the point where if he ever did confess his feeling for her, she would be too afraid that we would take it all back next time he got scared.

Shaking her head to clear her thoughts, she tried to focus on the man who she was currently in the arms of.

Las Vegas, May 6th, 00:20 EST, Team Groom

The guys decided it was a good time to get up and stretch their legs. They had 10 minutes to walk away, go dance or just relax.

Bruce took this opportunity to slip out of his V.I.P. room, and made his way in the direction of the one of the many dancefloor bars. Before he could make it to his destination, he was halted by the sight of Diana in the arms of another man. A man that was not him. He watched them for several moments, panic flooding his veins as he watched her. He suddenly couldn't breathe.

The song that was playing came to an end, and he watched Diana extricate herself from the other man's arms. She thanked him for the dance and he brought her hand to his lips for a good-bye kiss.

It was now or never.

Bruce wasn't going to get another chance like this again for a while. He made his way as quickly around the dancefloor as he could, to intercept her before she could make it off the dancefloor and back to her V.I.P. room, the opportunity would then be missed.

"May I have this dance?" Bruce asked as he came up beside her, mirroring their first meeting in Paris. Only this time, he needed her hand to save him. To pull him up from the depths of his dark, broken heart and soul and help piece him back together. He only hoped she would accept him now, even after all the hurt he had cause her in the past. Bruce wanted this, wanted her more than oxygen. Not for tonight but for every night; forever.

Startled by the oh so familiar and sexy baritone voice, Diana froze in her tracks before slowing turning to face him. Her heart was pounding in her chest so hard she knew he could hear it. She knew it was a possibility that the two groups could cross paths tonight, but she still wasn't expecting it. She took a deep breath to try and steady herself before turning towards him.

"I thought that was against the rules," she said, fully facing him and tucking a rogue strand of her hair behind her right ear as she laid her left hand in his outstretched right.

Bruce swiftly pulled her against his chest, as he snaked his arms around her back. They were never more aware of the feeling of each other's bodies than they were at that moment. Bruce's thin dress shirt against Diana's thinly cover body felt like heaven. Compared to their uniforms, it was like they were practically naked in each other's arms. Diana's arms went up around his neck, her hands playing with the back of his neck and the hair on the back of his head. The feeling of her hands on his skin and in his hair was electrifying. Everywhere she touched felt like he was on fire with hot need and, and caused his head to tip towards her, his eyes to flutter shut and, to let out a moan of pleasure at her ministration. They swayed to the music, their blue eyes locked on each other's, the club fading away until it was only them. Their faces only inches apart. The air around them crackled with the raw sexual tension they exuded.

Things had been going well for them, as of late. They flirted back-and-forth more than they had in the past few months while on missions or whenever they spent any time together. Their sparring sessions had only continued to grow more heated and sexually charged from one to the next. Bruce seemed to be more playful, well as playful as Batman could get, and less flighty than he had been in the past to her, and to them. Could he finally be pulling her towards him instead of pushing her away? Diana dared not get her hopes too high. She had many disappointments in the past. They way he held her and the way he looked at her now made her think that he may be finally willing to let her into his heart, and his life.

"Maybe I don't like the rules anymore, Princess," he huskily murmured, completely lost in the dazzling depths of her sapphire eyes. "Maybe I'm done trying to convince myself that I don't need you. That I can live without you."

Diana's breathe caught in her throat at the passion in his words and for the love he tried to hide for so long that shone in his eyes.

"Why now, Bruce? Why should I believe you… that you won't pull away tomorrow? How do I know it's for real?" she sadly asked.

"Because I can no longer fight what I feel for you, Diana. I can't think straight, I can't breathe," he confessed as their lips drew near. "Because you're always on my mind. No matter what I do, I can't stop thinking about you – on patrol, at work, when I'm sleeping… It can no longer deny it, or you… I love you, Princess," he said, as his mouth captured hers in a heated kiss.

She pulled him closer as he tightened his hold on her, their dance forgotten. Her lips parted to allow him access. They swallowed each other's moans of pleasure as their hands started to roam over their bodies.

A few minutes later, they broke apart, gasping for air. Their foreheads rested against one another's, as they tried to take in oxygen and calm themselves.

"Bruce…" she gasped out, no longer be able to think, let alone form a coherent sentence.

"Diana…" Bruce echoed her breathless call.

"That was… wow!" she said, as she smiled brightly up at him.

"Incredible," he answered her sentiment. "You are so amazing, Diana. I'm sorry for how I've treated you. From here on out, I'm going to spend the rest of my life trying to make it up to you, if you'll let me."

Diana's megawatt smile lit up the club with his heartfelt declaration to her. She reached up and pulled his head towards her, their lips passionately crashed together.

Separating a few moments later, and breathing heavily once more, Diana collected herself and sad: "We should get back to our groups, they may send out a search party if we are gone too much longer."

"Trying to get rid of me already, Princess?" Bruce huskily teased.

"Never. But you did break the rules by coming to see me… not that I minded," she teased back. He smirked back at her.

"Maybe I'll find a way for our paths to cross again tonight."

"Maybe you should," Diana flirted sensually back.

"You two may want to get back to your parties," J'onn's voice filled their heads, a blush formed on both their cheeks. "Wally is about to come looking for you, Bruce. He thinks you snuck out of the party completely and I'm sure you don't want him to find the both of you like this," J'onn chuckled.

"Thanks, J'onn. I'll be right there," Bruce mentally replied.

"Sorry, Princess. J'onn's right. We better get back," disappointment lacing his words.

"No, it's fine. We should get back."

"I'll find you again later, Princess," Bruce promised.

"I love you, my Dark Knight. I'll be waiting."

With one last kiss, they parted ways, back to their respective parties. They were both swiftly interrogated when they returned to their groups. Had they taken a moment to check their appearances before dreamily heading back to their rooms, Bruce would have noticed Diana's lipstick smudged on is lips and how tousled his hair was from her fingers playing with it. Diana would have noticed her lipstick smudged across her lips and her own disheveled appearance. Of course, there were also the lovesick smiles on their faces that were a dead giveaway. Neither much cared, for they both knew how right tonight felt. The promise of a tomorrow for their love. Who wound have guessed this would happen just from dancing with a stranger?
