First, you need to know that this is going to be a rather slow-paced series, so it may take a few chapters to make something clear or to give all the information to understand why something is happening. Honestly, this might seem like it has no direction at times near the start of the story, but it does, I promise it does. So if you don't get why I am doing something, just wait for a few chapters, it WILL become clear what is happening and why it is happening.
Second, this story is crossed over with Avengers and DBZ, though it focuses more heavily on the MHA storyline. In essence, this is an AU of all three focused in on the MHA material.
Don't start the lynchings, please, I know a lot of you are wanting me to be working on putting out new content, not going back and rewriting old content. I also know that those who have given me challenges are waiting for the first chapter to their perspective challenges to be published. However, I don't have a lot of free time, have four NEW stories that I am trying to hammer out the first chapters to, am LARGELY writing the fourth chapter of RubysDragonX's World's Strongest Family, and am doing all of this off of my phone. So, it is all taking some time to do, and I am reposting this story, rather than rewriting it as I did for my other story King of Demons, so I can let all of you know that I am still working on writing, it is simply taking time. it also doesn't help that one of my favorite authors, who I read their work to find inspiration to write, has seemingly gone dark again.
Anyway, for those that care, I have four stories in the works so be on the lookout for The Neo-King of Beasts: Emerald Wraith an MHA challenge, Some times, Heroes need to be Monsters another MHA challenge, Revival of the Dragons a Highschool DxD challenge and its companion story The Caws of A Dragon. Now, on with the first chapter of this newly rewritten storyline and remember to review.
Chapter 1
"Why are you being so mean? You're making him cry Kacchan, if you keep on hurting him, uh, I'll, uh, I'll stop you myself!" A young Izuku Midoriya, who was wearing a faded teal t-shirt, dark green shorts and red high tops with black laces, declared as he took up a fighting stance.
As Izuku protectively stood in front of another boy of the same age and wore a yellow polo shirt, red shorts, and dark purple hair, the addressed spiky ash-blonde boy looked completely dumbfounded. However, the aggressive child was quick to get over his initial shock when he started talking, only for his expression changed to a menacing smirk with closed eyes, secretly forcing down his nerves.
"You want to pretend to be a hero," Replied the spiky ash blonde hair, who was wearing a dark blue shirt with red shorts and black shoes, before he slammed his fist into his open palm as a small explosion happened. "You don't stand a chance without a Quirk, Deku," The ash-blonde boy said before he and his two lackeys charged Izuku while their Quirks, fully intending to pummel him.
At first, it seemed as though the three boys were going to get away with their plan, as they each had already beginning Izuku's beat down with one hit apiece so far. The larger of the Blonds two lackeys had used his reptilian wings to bulldoze Izuku off his feet. The other lackey was quick to use his extendable fingers to whip their new target higher into the air. This gave the ash-blond boy time to charge close enough to slam his palm against the green-haired youth's stomach upon him falling down to be shoulder level with his most persistent attacker. No sooner had Izuku folded under the harsh palm strike to his stomach, then an explosion sent him flying.
Though he hadn't flown far, a yard or two at most before he began bouncing across the harsh and unforgiving ground, Resulting in him gaining numerous bruises and cuts as the three attackers were quick to move after their prey, not even giving him time to fully stop moving. Yet, before any of them could continue to hurt the young green-haired boy any further, with them having only closed the distance to be half of what it was when they first charged now that Izuku had stopped moving, they were all flung away from him by an invisible force. As they each were sent on their own journeys of skipping over the ground like a stone over water.
"What do you think you're doing to Izu-kun?!" A young female voice furiously yelled while still holding up her outstretched hand.
Looking to his savior, Izuku could only see the outline of a young girl with hair down to the middle of her back and was wearing a dress. Beyond that, however, Izuku couldn't see any other identifying feature of the girl due to her entire body seemingly being wrapped in shadows.
"Izu-kun, promise me that you won't try to be a hero until you get your Quirk. Promise me, that no matter what, you won't try to be a Hero until your Quirk awakens, please Izu-kun," Midoriya heard the same female voice say, with a tone of desperation that escaped the grasp of his young mind. The fact that she was still wrapped in shadows, despite them now sitting together on a bench in the park while she was treating his cuts with the medical supplies from her small purse, wasn't helping the boy's attention span either. After all, He hadn't ever been very good at interacting with girls, yet this girl always seemed to insist on spending time with him. Though their close proximity did end up allowing for him to note how she was quite a bit taller than him, with hair that reached down to her knees and curled at the ends.
"But the doctors said I can't get a Quirk, Nery-chan," Izuku said with tears building in the corners of his eyes due to him having been secretly bottling up his frustration at his predicament.
All-Might never cried so he couldn't either if he wanted to be a hero. It was an easy belief for a child who idolized the said Hero to gain, though it was very unhealthy to have. Sadly, the boy was good at hiding his insecurities from his mother, as well as everyone else who was old enough to see what he was doing and correct such behavior if he would only open up to them. Yet that in and of itself was a problem when he connected an adult's concern with a quirks existence after being continually glanced over for the children that did have quirks.
"Then that just means you're just going to get a Quirk unlike anything the world has ever seen before," the young girl said cheerfully as she hopped off the bench and excitedly pumped a fist in the air before her mood seemed to drop. "Izuku, I need you to promise me what I asked you before… and that we will always be the best of friends," The girl said in an all but pleading voice, and an ever so faint blush upon adding on her afterthought.
"Ok, I promise, but why are you so upset?" Izuku ended up asking, only for the girl to jump off the bench and runoff in a fit of giggles. In turn, Causing to chase after her as best he could.
Present Day
Opening his eyes again, Izuku saw that he had been distracted by the memory of the only person to have ever believed that he could be a hero despite having been deemed Quirkless as he searched for his latest Hero Notes after having his one-time friend and his lackeys attempt to crush his dreams yet again.
'I wonder where she is right now, given her powerful Quirk, she was probably accepted into a really good hero school. Though we did promise to go to UA and become heroes together once my Quirk awakens. So, she may be there provided that her family either moved back or let her move back here to attend UA.' Izuku continued to think, as he desperately clung to both the memory, of the ONLY person to have WHOLEHEARTEDLY believed in his dream, as well as the belief that his quirk could miraculously awaken, and hoped that their promises would ring true.
However, as he walked around the back of the school building, Izuku was shocked to see a man that looked to be somewhere in his thirties, standing in front of the school pond with his Hero Notes in hand. Upon taking a closer look, Izuku couldn't help but notice the man's suit, that he was sure had to have cost more than the combined total of his family's monthly bills and then some. The man had black hair with a few streaks of gray on the sides that fit surprisingly well with his appearance. The sides of his Hair were combed back and the top of his hair was combed forward with the short ends of his hair having been curved up as to not have them laying against his forehead. Over his eyes, despite it being around late afternoon, the man had a pair of extremely expensive-looking and dark aviator-style sunglasses. Lastly, the man had a neatly trimmed anchor goatee.
Getting over his shock, Izuku approached the man, causing the said man to close the notebook and turn to face Izuku upon noticing his presence.
"Izuku Midoriya?" The man questioned when he saw Izuku nervously looking at him with the familiar look of the more extreme variety of fans.
The young man nervously looked at the book in his hand and then back to him before moving his head up and down. Thus, succeeding in giving the man an answer.
"Do you know who I am?" The said man question to confirm if the boy was truly whom he said he was, as should the book in the man's hand be any indication, the real Izuku Midoriya would know who he was in great detail.
"Tony Stark, better known as the hero Iron Man. One of America's top ten heroes, quirk: reactor, one of the founding members of the currently largest Hero teams in the world, The Avengers. A team that was deemed to be officially formed after having driven off an alien attack. You were thought to have a useless mutation-type Quirk that allowed you to replenish your bodies energy without having to sleep but you made suits of armor that could be powered by your quirk and allow you to become a hero." Izuku replied with an awed tone, while actively forcing himself to give a clear and brief answer without delving into a further detailed mumbling spree.
"Well, I got to say, I expected someone with a bigger cranium." The now identified Tony Stark muttered to himself in a stupified tone before actively addressing the teen before him. "So, what's your quirk?"
"W...What?" Came Izuku's baffled response due to him being used to people writing him off a quirkless from the get-go when they saw his appearance.
"Super Intelligence," Tony seamlessly question as he eyed Izuku to try to find some sign of a seemingly nonexistent quirk, while completely writing off his dumbfounded reaction.
"Nah, you don't look the type, not condescending," Tony said as he dismissed the guess before Izuku could respond.
"Hyper Sense?" Tony said, taking yet another crack at guessing the boy's quirk.
"Nah, not rigged like the rest of them, though you're definitely nervousness enough to fit the bill," The billionaire said, as he once more dismissed his guess before Izuku could answer.
"Some sort of observational Quirk then, you got the build for it," Tony said before glyph-like symbols lit up on his sunglasses. "Nope, you don't have the special irises for that. Wait, I've got it, Hyper Cognitive Focus. Though the meds, if you're getting treated for A.D.D., could be causing the jumpiness thanks to how closely they have always appeared. You better get that double-checked if that's the cause." Tony finished, with him clearly waiting for an answer this time.
However, Izuku had become so dumbfounded that his jaw hung loose and was a good minute before he could even regain enough though mental processing ability to slowly turn his head from side to side. So slowly that you could almost hear that squeak of noisy hinges as he did so.
"All right kid, I'm stomped, what's your secret," Tony said in a lax manner, completely fine with the fact that he had been wrong on all accounts. After all, Japan had the highest quirked populous in the world, hell, quirkless people were all but extinct in Japan, so it wasn't like the kid didn't have some kind of power.
"Um, I-I'm Quirkless" Izuku forced out with a little stuttering as possible. A feat to be sure as he was currently in the presence of his second most favored hero, WHO HAD JUST ASSUMED HE HAD A QUIRK WHEN EVERYONE ELSE WROTE HIM OFF A QUIRKLESS AT FIRST GLANCE.
"Quirkless?" Tony said with disbelief pouring from his words. All the while he was secretly ranting in his head that he should have known better than to wright that option off, as though he were like everyone else, especially when ALL the signs were there. Thus, causing Izuku to be taken back by just how casual his second most favored hero was being.
"T-th-that's right," Izuku answered, a bit of fear creeping into his voice thanks to him thinking that now his hero would do like everyone else had and avoid him like he had the plague or berate him for his dream.
"Then why would you make twelve of these things and be halfway done with a thirteenth one?" The dark-haired man asked, honestly wanting to hear the boy's answer from his own lips and in his own words.
"Hobby?" Izuku said with such a hesitant and nervous filled tone that it came out more like a question than the statement he had intended it to be.
"You're telling me that your hobby is to write about Heroes, deconstruct how their Quirks work? Then, reveal their habits, tricks, as well as possible improvements they could make, before capping it all off with further hypothesizing both their strengths and weaknesses." Tony said as he took off his sunglasses with one hand and taped the front of the Notebook with them. Ending his inquiry with a rather serious gaze.
"Yes?" Izuku said with his statement once more sounding like a question as he felt heat concentrating around his checks as he broke eye contact due to his embarrassment and scratched the back of his head with one hand.
"Hu, I'm gonna hold on to this for a bit, if you don't mind, got a phone kid?" Iron Man said with Izuku quickly handing over his phone.
The hero then tapped on the keys of the flip-phone for a minute or two before handing it back, turning around, and walking away as he waved the Notebook over his head
"See you around, kid," Tony stated before he walked around the building and out of sight, pulling out his phone as he did so.
Looking at his phone, Izuku was shocked to see that he now had Iron Man's number. However, he was quickly brought out of his thoughts by what sounded like a rocket taking off.
Later
Izuku was mindlessly walking through Tatooin Shopping District. Earlier, Izuku felt like he was on cloud nine over having met his top two favorite heroes, only to have one of the heroes give a rather confusing departure. Successfully knocking him quite a ways off of cloud nine though he was still in a really good mood. Shortly after that, he had his second time of meeting a Pro Hero. Yet it wasn't just any Pro hero, it was his all-time favorite Pro Hero, the man that his room was practically a shrine to, none other than All-Might himself. Successfully putting Izuku right back on cloud nine. However, the man wasted no time in smashing him off of cloud nine as the symbol of peace ruthlessly shattered his dream of ever becoming a hero without a quirk. Yet, Izuku was quickly brought out of his zombie-like movements by a blast of wind and the sound of a massive explosion.
"AAAAAAAAAH, YOU PICKED THE WRONG GUY TO MESS WITH! I'M GONNA SEND YOU BACK TO WHATEVER SEWER YOU CRAWLED OUT OF! LET ME GO!" Izuku heard a voice rage, causing his eyes to widen as he hesitantly turned his attention to the fight. Which, allowed the young boy to catch a glimpse of the Villain, that had him captured just minutes beforehand, through the gaps in the crowd. As well as permitting him to briefly see the new victim that had been caught, his one-time childhood friend, Katsuki Bakugou.
'No way, Kacchan?!' Izuku mentally questioned before he found himself barreling through the crowd and towards his trapped classmate. Panicking as he did so due to him not knowing why he was doing it nor how to stop his body from moving on its own.
Yet, even with him having seemingly lost control over his own body, it still just felt… so… right. It felt as though the situation he found himself in was as normal to him as breathing. No, it was more than that. Facing insurmountable odds, facing a seemingly… unbeatable opponent, it made him feel as though someone had just injected raw adrenaline into his blood, and his entire being was craving more, far, Far, FAR, FAR MORE!
As this was just like the feeling he got when he was at his self-defense classes. No, it was more than how he felt during tournaments or training. The feeling he got at tournaments and during training was no more than the thrill one gets when riding a rollercoaster. The feeling coursing through him now was like his veins had been filled with a liquid FIRE, and the tendons that made up his muscles had been turned to bolts of lightning. It felt so good, it felt so right, but most importantly, it just felt so… addictive. Causing a massive grin as his eyes widened with excitement, he was sure it made him look crazed but he just couldn't bring himself to care.
It was almost as though this instant, this situation, had been what he was bred for. For something that what he just had to do, no, that was too simplistic. This was something that he NEEDED to do so badly that he was physically incapable of stopping his own body.
That's right, he NEEDED to do this, he NEEDED to rush into danger, he NEEDED to follow his senses, he NEEDED to cave to the one impulse that all of his senses were screaming for, he NEEDED to move. He. NEEDED. TO. FIGHT!
As Izuku neared the villain, his mind instantly remembered page 25 of his most recent Hero Notebook, with his mind constantly shifting the focus of his mental image of the page to one specific paragraph. Thus, leading Izuku to pull his backpack off of his shoulders and sling it at the Villain, while seamlessly unzipping it as he slipped it off his shoulder. In turn, allowing the contents of the bag to spill out and hit the Sludge monster with the corner of one of Izuku's notebooks hitting the monster in the eye. Which, Forced the Villain to release Bakugou enough that the boy was given time to regain his breath as Midoriya reached him and began to try to dig his classmate out of the sludge-like body.
"What the hell, why are you here?" Bakugou questioned before the villain regained his grip on the young boy, keeping him from being able to speak once more.
"I don't know, my legs, they just started, moving," Midoriya said as he frantically dug at the villain's body, never once losing his smile or excited look in his eyes.
"Kacchan, I couldn't just stand there and watch you die," continued the young, green-haired, teen as tears began streaming from his eyes. Causing his eyes to lose their excited gaze for a moment.
"GET THE HELL OFF ME!" Bakugou yelled into the Villain's body upon hearing the words of his one-time childhood friend.
"Just a little bit longer kid, AND I'M DONE PLAYING WITH YOU," the Villain replied before turning his attention back to Izuku as he raised his arm to attack.
"SAVE THE BOY, THIS THING WILL KILL HIM!" Exclaimed the hero Death Arms as he and the heroes Backdraft, Kamui Woods, Slugger and to other heroes rushed towards Izuku.
Seeing the Villain preparing for an attack, Izuku slightly jumped back and pulled out a pair of wireless headphones that he rammed into his ears before he also pulled out an iPod, hit play, and threw it back into his pocket.
He was well aware that despite his current feeling, that this fight could very well be his end, and felt that if he was going to die, then he wanted to go out fighting as he listened to her song. The song that had been the sole thing to help him keep a death grip on his memory of the three promises he had made to his true childhood and first friend.
Start Lightning by Fireflight
With the song that had gotten him through all of his darkest times ringing in his ears, Izuku rolled to the right of the Villain's attack.
The moment the Villain's hand it the ground, Bakugou activated his Quirk and caused an explosion, unknowingly giving Izuku the cover he needed to force the Villain's hand.
Charging around the Villain, Izuku leaped above the sludge man with a stunning display of acrobatics. Allowing Izuku to be face to face with his opponent as he twisted and flipped his body. Once he was parallel with his target, Izuku shot his fist forward and slugged the Villain right in the eye. Thus, making the lawbreaker open his mouth to scream.
'So I was right, only his exterior is sludge.' Izuku instantly analyzed thanks to his years of studying Heroes.
Not wasting any time upon learning what he needed to confirm his plan, Izuku shot out his other hand to grab onto the teeth that ran along the roof of the Villain's mouth. Additionally, having gotten his grip, Izuku flipped his body into the Villain's mouth feet first as he used his free hand to grab hold of the teeth that lined the Villain's jaw. Which, allowed Izuku to keep the Villain's jaw forced open as he repeatedly curled his legs up against his torso before thrusting them forward and slamming them into the back of the Villain's through.
With each of Izuku's strikes, the sludge man lost more and more of his grip on Bakugou, stumbling back as he did so. Upon releasing Bakugou, the said boy fell to his hands and knees coughing with a look of horror on his face as Izuku continued to force the Villain back.
Once he felt the Villain had been pushed back far enough, Izuku wrenched the man's jaw open more before flipping out of his and onto the ground. Yet before Izuku could retreat, the sludge man swung his hand forward, intent on killing the boy before him.
"DAMN YOU," the Villain raged as Izuku braced for his death without his smile and excited gazed diminishing in the least.
'Looks like I won't be able to keep my promises to her,' Izuku thought as he waited for the hit, but unable to shake the addicting feeling coursing through him.
However, before the Villain could make contact with Izuku, a gust of wind forced everyone to close their eyes. When those gathered opened their eyes once more, they were stunned to see All-Might blocking the Villain.
"I really am pathetic," the Number One Hero began. "I told you the traits that make a great champion, but I see now that I wasn't living up to my own Ideals!" The number one said as he publicly scolded himself.
Breaking free from the Villain as he spoke, All-Might got into the stance he needed to finish of the lawbreaker and finish his apology.
"Pros are always risking their lives, THAT'S THE TRUE TEST OF A HERO!" Exclaimed the blond man as he had blood spraying from his mouth.
"DAMN YOU All-Might!" Yelled the Villain as he prepared a much stronger attack.
"DETROIT SMASH!" All-Might yelled as he grabbed Izuku's arm to keep the boy from being sent flying and threw his fist forward. Both scattering the Villain's body and knocking the sludge man out as well as causing a massive, yet localized, tornado that changed the barometric pressure enough to make it start to rain. Thus, allowing for any fires or hotspots, that hadn't been taken care of by the massive vacuum, to be dealt with by the rainwater.
End song
When the cleanup began, All-Might had instantly been swarmed by the press, Slugger, and another Hero began to praise Bakugou for his bravery and strong Quirk.
Izuku, on the other hand, was being scolded by Death Arms and Kamui Woods.
"You moron, do you have a death wish?" Kamui Woods questioned as he scolded Midoriya.
"There was absolutely no reason to put yourself in danger like that." Death Arms stated before Midoriya could respond to Kamui Woods.
However, listening to the Heroes yell at him caused a feeling to burst to life inside of Midoriya. It was unlike anything he had ever felt before. It was just like the feeling that he had, had when he was fighting the villain off, but this feeling was different and had slowly been replacing the feeling he had when he was fighting. He may not have understood either feeling, but he could clearly tell there was a difference between the two.
As the Heroes scolded him, Izuku couldn't help recalling that he had been certain in his course of action when he was fighting, upon accepting his body moving without him meaning for it to do so, and had come up with several other plans for how to fight the Villain if his first one wouldn't work. Regardless of if he didn't know what had caused him to react as he had at the start, the fact of the matter was that he somehow knew what he was doing. Yet, here were these Heroes, Heroes that hadn't done a damn thing, questioning HIM. 'Who the HELL did they think they are, they were so caught up with their Quirks that they weren't even TRYING to think of alternatives to save Bakugou. What, do they think they've somehow become infallible gods just because they have a fucking piece of plastic in their pockets?'
As these thoughts, continued to float around in his head, the strange feeling the Midoriya was experiencing, that was replacing the unknown feeling he had when he was fighting, began to churn faster and faster. Not only that but the speed at which it was doing so seemingly had a skyscraper of nitrous pumped into it as in all but an instant the first feeling had been seemingly covered up by the second. All while it was growing in potency by the passing second until it finally reached the point that he ended up doing something rather unlike himself before he could even register what he was doing.
"SHUT UP!" Midoriya yelled as he stood up with a crossed expression, causing not only the Pros to be surprised, due to the fact that the boy seemed to have a rather shy personality, but also garnered the attention of the other Heroes on the scene, both those doing clean up and those praising Bakugou, as well as the press. "You all stand here and are chastising me for doing what you all couldn't because you were too concerned about not have the right Quirk! Quirks are nothing more than another muscle in our body, yet unless you have the right Quirk, you just stand by and try to hold off Villains while more people get hurt or die! And all for what, because you have a piece of plastic in your pockets that the rest of us don't! Well, guess what, you all just got showed up by someone that doesn't even have a Quirk, deal with it! I know the laws, and I haven't done anything wrong besides saving someone when you all were too concerned, about having the right Quirk, to do what needed to be done! Meanwhile, you stand here and are, idiotically, praising the one that was making your job harder by continually using his Quirk despite him seeing that it wasn't doing anything to help his situation! If he hadn't been setting off explosions left and right, Kamui Woods could have used his Quirk to pull him out! Then the rest of you could have worked together to subdue the Villain. So why the hell are you all praising him when all he did is put everyone in danger!? How idiotic are you, you're supposed to be Pro-Heroes yet you act like your Four-Year-Old children that have just gotten their quirks and can't think about anything else! Yet we're supposed to entrust our lives to your protection, WHAT A FUCKING JOKE! Sorry, but next time there's a Villain attacking, I'd rather see a Vigilante on the seen than one of you! They at least care about the lives at stake and are doing what they do for the safety of others, unlike you all who apparently only care about your fame, money, and your own lives! But hey, if someone dies it's no skin off your nose, is it, you'll just go in have cameras follow you to catch you apologizing so your oh so precious fame doesn't take a hit and cause a cut in your paycheck!" Izuku ranted before he grabbed his bag, that a Hero had filled with his things once more, and began to walk off.
"Where the hell do you get off telling us how to do our jobs! Unlike you, we are trained to fight Villains!" Death Arms yelled after Izuku.
"The Punching Hero: Death Arms, Age: Twenty Three, graduated Yuuei High Hero Course B at eighteen after spending your first two years in General Studies, spent five years and six months as a Sidekick to The Turbo Hero: Ingenium, has been a Hero for six months. In the six months that you have been a Hero, you caused a grand total of three-hundred sixty-four bystanders to be hurt or killed. One died due to your inability to stop a villain because of your mentality that couldn't do anything because you lacked the proper Quirk to do so, or at least without putting your life on the line. Fifty are in comas, twenty more had to be hospitalized, and the other one-hundred nine all had injuries ranging from broken bones, sprains, mild concussions, torn muscles, or even needed of have ligaments amputated to save their lives. I wasn't aware the Yuuei was in the habit of teaching their Hero hopefuls to hurt bystanders and let victims get killed because you didn't have the right quirk for the situation." Izuku answered with a tone of cold fury as Death Arms had his eyes bulge and jaw drop.
"How… How do you know all of that," Death Arms asked in shock, unable to reply with anything else as the Middle School boy before him had just shut down any other possible retort with severely damaging his popularity more than both the boy's presented facts and his own question already would.
"I've spent every day since I was nearly Five-Years-Old studying Heroes and Villains to try and find some way for me to be able to be a Hero without a Quirk. That's ten years worth of studies as a whole, though I've only spent a year and two months cataloging all of the things I have learned from the fights I have seen in person in that same time frame. That is how dedicated I am to being a Hero, I will get into Yuuei High's Hero course and I will be the world's first Quirkless Hero. Though only so I can save others without having Heroes chasing me down for being a Vigilante and because I made a promise to a friend that we would meet again at Yuuei High," Izuku stated without even slightly looking back before he simply walked off.
Izuku wasn't sure why he had lashed out like that, hell, he thought he would die from the extreme embarrassment he was hiding under his mask of rage, which his rage had become shortly after starting his rant. However, hearing the heroes praise Bakugou, yet scold him when he had done more than all of them, baring All-Might, as well as question him when he somehow knew what he was doing, caused Izuku to experience a feeling that he never had and couldn't understand. Which, had led to him finally snapping before storming off. However, he didn't get far before his timid nature reemerged and he all but had a mental breakdown over telling off not one but two Heroes.
As Izuku was walking home, the install excitement and the first unknown feeling that he had felt when he was fighting had returned. Then he had been stopped by both Bakugou and then shortly thereafter, All-Might. With the latter of the two not only explained how he had made them revise their situation but even offered him their Quirk.
Standing there, hearing what All-Might had said and was now offering, Izuku knew he should be elated, hell, he was sure he normally would have ended up a sobbing mess before accepting without hesitation. Yet, as he heard All-Might speak, all Izuku could think of was how mercilessly the man before him had shattered his dreams despite him having practically spelled out all of the pain that he had experienced in his life, simply because he was Quirkless. It was like All-Might didn't give a shit that he had all but been told him that the sliver of hope that he had for his dream, was the only thing keeping him going. Hell, Midoriya had even considered simply jumping off the building to end it all and hoping for a quirk in his next life, just like Bakugou had said to.
So, to now hear the very same man simply treat him as though he would just continue to act like a mindless fanboy and accept whatever the man said as all but gospel, caused Izuku to once more experience the feeling that he had when the heroes were senselessly scolding him. With that in mind, Izuku's eyes dangerously narrowed. If the fighting had made his blood feel like liquid FIRE, then All-Might's actions made his stomach and chest feel like they were full of molten magma.
The thought that he had spent nearly his entire life looking up to, and practically idolizing him, made the feeling of magma in his stomach surge like it wanted to erupt out of his mouth as though he was some type of human volcano.
"Go to hell, I practically told you that the hope of achieving my dream was the only thing I had to keep me from just saying fuck it and killing myself. I was even considering doing just that after you left. Yet did you care? No, you only care now because you see that I'm the type of person you want to wield your quirk when you're gone. Well fuck you, I saved someone without a Quirk and that made me realized something. I don't need a Quirk, I can be a hero without one no matter what you or anyone else has to say about it. Which, is exactly what I am going to do." Izuku said before he brushed past the skeleton of a man who was now wide-eyed and frozen in place from shock. "Melissa and David would be horrified to hear what you've done, and they would be hurt that you just offered a stranger One For All rather than the girl you claim to see as Family," Izuku added just before he was out of hearing range.
In turn, causing All-Might to drop to his hands and knees as he instantly realized, from Izuku's words, just who the boy was. 'How could I have not seen it before, Young Midoriya is just as Young Melissa and David described.'
After having left All-Might behind him, Izuku once more lost that strange feeling he had had when chewing out the other Heroes, as well as the feeling of magma in his lungs and stomach, only to end up close to yet another mental breakdown over telling off All-Might. Just what the hell was going on with him, it was like the moment that feeling emerged, he lost all his mental filters, it was like he became something completely different than what he was. It was like he had become driven by some sort of… alien… impulses and it was scaring the crap out of him.
"I really needed to talk with mom about this in the morning," Izuku mumbled to himself as he sleepily rubbed his eyes, though he wasn't quite sure how well that was going to go with how he was feeling like his blood was once more turned into liquid FIRE, and his tendons once again felt as though they were bolts of lightning. It also wasn't helping that he couldn't stop shaking.
Midoriya Residence
Quietly entering his home, Izuku could hear his mother humming, a surefire sign that she was in the midst of her favorite pastime… cooking. Honestly, Izuku wondered how she could live to cook SO much, after all, she worked as a world-famous cook. Hell, one job always paid her enough that they could live quite comfortably for a month before she needed to take another job request. It was how he had as much rare and quite frankly, expensive, All-Might memorabilia. Honestly, Izuku knew that the only reason she didn't take more jobs, than what was needed for them to live comfortably and to buy him any All-Might memorabilia that he had found and didn't already have, was because she wanted to ensure she could always be there for him when he needed her. No doubt due to the immense guilt that Izuku knew his mother secretly held over not supporting his dream to become a Hero when he had most desperately needed it. Further evidence that the woman loved to cook just as much as he longed to be a Hero could be found in the fact that the Inko even had a Youtube channel dedicated to cooking. With videos covering the most basic of steps, the most advanced techniques, and even instructional videos on how to atomically dissect the quality of a meal.
Izuku had tried to form some sort of connection to his mother's passion and he knew she would rave about how naturally skillful he was, something he equated to having unintentionally acquired due to being raised by a cooking fanatic of a mother, but watching even one of her videos made his head spin. Thankfully, his mother wasn't so fanatical that she would force cooking down his throat, he may be naturally skillful according to her but he was seemingly unable to intentionally improve his skills. Something his mother repeatedly informed him was fine by her, though he had noticed over the years that whenever she would assure him it was fine, his mother had a look of utter revulsion deep within her eyes. At first, he thought it was aimed at him, and continued to think so for years until finally, he challenged her lax attitude towards his incapability to intentionally improve. It was then he learned of his mother's hatred for his grandfather's passion and the man's insane obsession with it, which was also the apparent reason that his mother had never allowed him to meet his grandparents on her side of the family. The man was apparently a combat nutcase and had done as his mother refused to do with him, he had forced her to learn about his passion and didn't tolerate even the smallest of mistakes from her when training.
Thus, Izuku snuck off into his room. He knew his mother feared his fixation on becoming a Hero would make him become just as battle crazed as his grandfather. It was hard not when he had made a habit of eavesdropping on his mother's late-night calls to his dad, especially when it was the only way to figure out when something was bothering his mother and what it was. So, in light of the fact that he still had yet to be able to stop the feeling he had when he was fighting from coursing through his body, as well as noting that his whole body had started to tremble, Izuku figured it best to avoid his mother. The last thing he wanted to do was add to his mother's fears of him becoming his grandfather and in light of the fact that he had never met the man, he couldn't accurately determine if his current state would do so or not.
However, when Izuku reached his room, silently closed the door, and turned around, he couldn't help but frown at how full of All-Might his room was. As such, he set about removing all of it and storing it all away, being careful not to damage anything. Each item was worth a good bit of money after all. Once done, Izuku noticed he had somehow done his homework without realizing due to the neatly stacked work on his desk as he sat down on his newly, and plainly, re-made bed, while simply staring at his trembling hands with a wide smile and gleeful gaze.
"... u…"
"... z… u…"
"... I… ku…"
"DAMNIT, IZUKU MIDORIYA, ANSWER ME RIGHT THIS FUCKING SECOND!" An absolutely pissed, and clearly feminine voice, streamed through his room, followed instantly by the sound of a door being slammed open.
"Sweetheart, what's wrong?" A worried male voice asked, with the voice echoing through Izuku's room via his computer speakers.
"PAPA, oh thank God, something's wrong with Izu-kun, he's got this crazed look to his face, can't seem to stop trembling, and he won't answer me. It's like he's completely disconnected from his body." The girl answered with a clear panic to her voice as she rushed into her father's arms.
The reaction was a bit extreme, however, despite the girl having many friends, she had every few that were actually her friends, with Izuku being among that literal handful of people. Yet something was clearly wrong with him and all she could do was look at him through a computer monitor, all while whatever was wrong with her friend may very well be causing her to lose him. As such, the blond couldn't keep her fears or her tears at bay as she took comfort that her father would know what to do.
While comforting his child, the man looked at Izuku through the computer screen. The boy on the other side wasn't an uncommon sight to the scientific father, in fact, the boy had become a rather routine sight from the time he had received a letter from him. The boy knew that he and All-Might worked together and was able to reason they were friends. So he sent a letter, asking if he would mind passing on a question to the Number One Hero, the boy had wanted to know if All-might thought a Quirkless could become a Hero.
Luckily for Izuku, David was friends with All-might, however, that meant that he knew his friend well, and had seen first hand how unknowingly brutally the blond man could shut down Quirkless kids dreams for being Heros. As such, the world-renowned scientist had a much better idea, with his daughter being… well his daughter, she didn't have many true friends, even less true friends when they found out she was Quirkless. Not to forget that even those that had proven to be true friends, none of them could truly understand his daughter's burden of being Quirkless. So, he instead sent back a reply that he hadn't been able to talk to All-might for some time, and didn't know when he would with how busy the man was. However, he didn't leave it at that, instead, he had given the younger Izuku a counteroffer, he would keep his request in mind for the next time All-might was able to gain the time to talk with him. In exchange, Izuku would have a few video calls with his daughter, who he revealed to be Quirkless as well. Needless to say, the much younger Izuku had hurriedly agreed if his sloppy handwriting in his next letter was any indication, and so began the friendship between his daughter and a boy from Japan.
"Keep talking to him, try to get some sort of response, I'll call Inko and have Sam prep the equipment. Don't worry, we'll find out what's happening and help Izuku, I promise." The man said as he quickly left the room, leaving his daughter to her task, knowing that she calmed down best when given something to focus on.
All it had taken was one look, even when looking through a computer screen, for the man to see that something was very, very wrong with the boy on the other side. A fact given that even just glancing at him made it clear that something fundamental about the boy had been changed in the time window between the current call and the prior one. So, given that he was Quirkless, it more than likely meant something was happening that would stump doctors. Which was a fact he was only able to come to, due to his intimate knowledge on how the human body worked, a requirement for his work and Izuku was showing no indicators for something already known about in the medical world. Thus, that left only the option of them turning him into a guinea pig to find out what it was, and that wasn't something David Shield was about to let happen to his daughter's best friend. As long as he had a say in it, Izuku Midoriya's state of being would be treated with dignity and respect.
Inko was just finishing up making dinner for her son and herself, tonight, she had chosen to make her child's favorite meal. Just as she had been doing so off and on for the past month, though that was more on that off as she was trying to find some version of her child's favorite meal that she could turn the recipe into a special version of his favorite meal that was only made in celebration. So far, that task, even with her world-renowned skills, was proving to be harder to achieve than she first thought it would be. As Izuku had devoured every altered version of the meal with equal vigor as all the others, and that was not the indicator she was looking for. No, the indicator that she was looking for was him trying to get more even when he was clearly full, just as he had when she had first made him Katsudon.
"Perhaps this will be the one that does it, I do need to make sure Melissa knows how to make a Katsudon that will make Izuku fall for her, the way to a man's heart is through his stomach after all. And she's just such a good influence on his life, they'd also make the cutest couple too." Inko muttered to herself, as she tried thinking of more ways to help give, the clearly smitten girl, an edge in bagging her baby boy.
Then, maybe, the girl would finally get her baby to accept his childhood promises to his first real friend, were just that, the promises of children and stop the dangerous pursuit of becoming a Hero without a Quirk. If the Blond girl could do so, then the Midoriya Matriarch would finally be able to rest at ease knowing that her baby would not only have a safe life but a happy one as well, all while safely ensuring he'd never became anything like his grandfather. Yet, of course, her child just had to get his father's unbending will despite having never actually met the man, and it had caused her to lose count of how many times she had heard Izuku in a yelling match with Melissa via their video calls. As Izuku's speakers were of high enough quality that Inko was able to easily learn of Melissa's attempts to persuade her son from the path of direct Heroism. Honestly, the path had been such an obvious answer, one she should have been able to see and present Izuku with when he had needed support. Maybe then he wouldn't be so dead set on being THE Hero and would have instead become driven to be the HERO'S Hero.
Sadly, she hadn't and those yelling matches were growing more and more frequent, while also clearly putting a strain on the two teen's friendship. Inko was beginning to worry that the fights would soon lead to them having a falling out. Which, was the last thing that she and David had wanted for their children when both parents could clearly see just how much the other child meant to their child. As such, David and Inko had cooked up many-a-scheme to get the two into a relationship, and finding the recipe for a special version of Katsudon that Izuku simply couldn't get enough of was simply one of the many steps to the foundation of their many plans. With another step bing that of David casually dropping seemingly random hints about how girls should go about snagging a shy guy that was practically the embodiment of the "nice guy" trope. All of which came in the form of stories of David's youth about the funny lengths that girls would go to to get a shy boy that everyone thought would fail only to work like a charm. Stories that Melissa had clearly been listening to off of her attire in the last video call.
As Inko, through her habit of spying on the calls, had seen that Melissa had dressed in a very conservative outfit that still flattered her natural beauty, and figure, enough to ensure Izuku would be having many a dream about her in it, all while still giving her an air of reach-ability. Sadly, that call had been one of their worst fights yet, with Melissa furiously hanging up after stating some rather sharp words that had Izuku showing the most traits of being his grandfather's grandson, that he ever had. As the boy had actually, and very surprisingly, lashed out physically after the call ended by throwing his desk chair through his window. It had been a rather startling sight for Inko, and she had barely hidden in time for Izuku to storm out of his room and out of the house without knowing that he was being watched.
When Inko had called David, she found out that the results had been little better on his end, as Melissa had not only ripped her outfit to spreads after catching sight of her reflection, before changing and then all but raced her lab. However, when David had started to hear the telltale sounds that his daughter was going to be ripping herself out of her outfit, he was quick to give his daughter privacy, and was relieved to see her clothed when he checked back in on her, though she was in the process of tearing her lab apart when he did. A clear sign to him that her frustration was not only at its max but was even stalling her ability to focus on her work.
"Izu…" *RING*, Inko had begun to call her son for dinner, knowing that he should be home by this point and had probably just come in quietly for some reason, only to be cut off by the ringing of the house phone.
"Inko, pack a bag for yourself and Izuku, then get him to the airport, I'll call them and have tickets for the next flight out waiting for you both," David said through the phone as soon as Inko had picked it up, not even giving her a chance to say hello.
Hearing the seriousness in the man's voice, as well as Melissa's panicked voice coming from her baby's room, Inko didn't even bother asking questions. Instead, she simply did as she was told, with a bit more fervency after seeing her son's state for herself.
By the time Inko got around to calling her best friend, she and her shaking son were seated on a plane, waiting for takeoff.
"Hello, Masaru, is Mitsuki there? Yes, I need to speak with her if you don't mind, it won't take long." Inko spoke on her mobile phone.
"Hey, girl, what the fuck's up," Mitsuki crudely greeted her long-time friend when given the phone.
"Something's wrong with Izuku, David is flying us out to take a look. So we won't be around for a little bit. I know it's last-minute but could you check in on our apartment every now and again." Inko asked her friend.
"Are you fucking kidding me, what the hell did Katsuki do to Izuku now," Mitsuki raged through the phone.
Contrary to the belief of Izuku and Bakugou, Inko was well aware of where most of Izuku's injuries came from and both mothers were well aware of Katsuki hate of Izuku. It upset both mothers, as they had wanted their children to be friends like they were, but accepted that their children simply got along as well as oil and fire. So, every time Inko saw Izuku come home with a new injury that clearly came from the explosive teen, she would call her friend, who would then give a fitting punishment to her son. It always baffled Katsuki on why he would suddenly be getting a punishment out of nowhere, but Mitsuki would always tell him he knew why he was getting punished but just didn't want to face it because it would mean accepting what he had done wrong as wrong. The response always pissed off Katsuki, however, Mitsuki paid it no mind as she wasn't going to feed her son the answers, not when he aimed to be a Hero. As she knew he needed to learn to take a step back and see what he was doing, if he couldn't learn to do that now, then people would end up dead because of her son when he became a Hero.
However, if her son didn't start to get the message soon. Mitsuki would have no choice but to inflict the real punishment that she and Inko had devised to straighten Katsuki out. After all, it wouldn't matter how good her son was or how high he scored on his entrance exam, not if she didn't sign the waiver for him to be in the Hero Course. As without her signature, her son wouldn't be able to be Hero. It would be cruel to take away the chance for him to reach his dream, but Mitsuki would much rather do that then let her son get someone killed because he wanted to act like an overgrown child that wasn't getting his way while coming off of a sugar high.
"I can't say that Katsuki was involved this time," Inko said, hoping to calm her easy to anger friend.
"Sweetheart, come look at this," Inko heard Masaru callout in the background, the line then went quiet for a moment.
"Oh, he's involved alright, and that little bastard just fucked the last chance he had of me signing that fucking waver," Mitsuki growled on the other end of the line. "I've got my TV paused, apparently Izuku and Katsuki were caught up in a Villain attack. Right now I have the screen paused on a shot of Katsuki glaring, and I know that glare, he did something alright. Even after Izuku risked his life for him, that glare is all I need to know he did something or at least has a part in what happened. I'm sorry Inko, I should have broken this out sooner, maybe then Izuku wouldn't be needing to be seen by David. Don't worry, I'll check on your place for you while you're gone, now I've got to go, I need to start making some calls. It's time I pull Katsuki's head out of his fucking ass and I'm done trying to be nice about it, as that clearly isn't working," Mitsuki informed her friend through clenched teeth.
'Where the hell did we go wrong to this… this monster for a son," Mitsuki wonder as she continued to look at the paused screen in front of her, as it wasn't an image of a boy. No, the image was of a rabid beast thrashing to get out of its cage.
It was high time she set her son straight, and this time she was doing so without the kiddy gloves, which also meant the crushing of his dream. As Mitsuki couldn't, in good conscience, allow her son to train to be a Hero. All it would do right now is make his even more of a loose cannon.
I-Island
When David had seen Izuku's current state, he had been worried, however, when he had heard the fear in Inko's voice via Melissa's computer speakers. Well, he became fearful of just what was happening as the green-haired mother clearly had a very good idea of what was happening. So, given the fact that she was refusing to give out the information that she clearly had, David quickly realized she was waiting for the results of the tests he was going to run on her son. Which, in turn, made David scared about just what Inko was hiding about the Midoriya family.
"Hello, Tony," David said through his phone when the other end was picked up.
"David, long time no talk, what's up," The laid back genius answered.
"I need your help, you need to come to the island and I explain more, I don't want to risk saying more and have someone tapping into this call," David answered before he abruptly hung up, knowing he had said enough to quip the billionaire's interest.
Now all that was left was to wait, something David and his daughter had never been good at when the situation involved those they carried about.
That's it for this chapter, I hope to have more out sooner rather than later, and as always, please remember to Review.
