Hello, and welcome to the new and improved Sparkles Are Scary! If this is your first time reading Hikaru's journey, I'm glad you've decided to give it a shot! I'm apologize sincerely for the amount of time this has taken, but I appreciate everyone who has chosen to come back and continue this story! A lot of stuff has changed, so be prepared for that! Otherwise, please sit back, relax, and enjoy the show!

DISCLAIMER: I own nothing other than my OC!

Warning(s): Mentions of death, and intentional out of character characters (as things will change, with a new sibling in the mix).

Why do you get up in the morning? Responsibilities? Necessity? Maybe you don't want to seem like a burden to your family of four, with a widowed mother and two sisters helping you every step of the way?

I wonder if you guess which one was my case yet.

Where is this place?

It's so warm...

Why am I here?

I just want to fall asleep forever...

Wait!

No troubles or worries...

This isn't right!

That's true. After all, I'm dead.

Dead..?

The conversation with herself ended, as Jamie remembered.

She was murdered, killed in some back alley by a couple of drunks with broken glass.

All she wanted was to help..!

It didn't matter now.

All she could hope for was a nice afterlife... just, after taking a nap.

It really was warm here, wherever she was...

Something shifted near her, but it was warm and comfortable and she could just drift off, no worries, no pain, merely a nice little nap with no strings attached...

An accidental kick to the face didn't even phase her, already drowning in the solace and safety of rest.

It was there she grew, for many months until her birth, hearing voices that occasionally sang little songs or energetically spoke gibberish, changing and changing until finally...

A long, monotonous beep roused her from sleep, with tears falling from her face and loud cries filling the room as she finally realized what must have happened.

She was born, and the person who brought her into this world had now left it. Left them.

Life wasn't always fair, and Jamie had more than enough experience with that. It was merely... a shame. No mother this time, and apparently no father as well.

Then again, Life never did seem to like her much.

Her new siblings were sweet, in her opinion.

Her brother was really loud, and was also the oldest technically, with extremely bright hair. Probably dyed, because there's no way that silver in natural.

She had a twin in this life, too. A little sister.

Their first names weren't really clarified, but she knew their last. Sasagawa. It seemed she was most likely Japanese this time round.

Since they were abandoned by their dad, and their mom died during birth, they were being taken care of by a relative.

For only being a little over a year older than her and actually a child, her brother was unusually smart.

He always seemed surprised whenever he saw her, but hid it quickly. If she hadn't been a soul reborn, she would've never noticed.

Around the time she turned one, she finally learned her name. Hikaru. Hikaru Sasagawa, to be exact. Her little sister's name was Kyoko, and her older brother's name was... Ryohei. Kyoko and Ryohei Sasagawa. Those were her siblings. Why didn't something seem right? Their names were familar. Stranger still, it was from her previous life that those names clicked.

Katekyo Hitman: Reborn! was an anime and manga. One which was her favorite, and it'd be the one thing where she'd find herself entertained. It was a slow beginning, but she was intrigued and continued. The weirdly powerful babies of the rainbow, a mafia who's name meant clam, and colorful fire?

She'd made jokes about living in an alternate universe where anime existed as reality, but to have it actually happen? Well, Hikaru supposed she'd have to just kinda, roll with it. Though, there was always the possibility that it was just a strange coincidence.

Her head hurt from thinking so much...

Around the time she was 5 years old, Hikaru found a stack of memos in a box while playing hide and seek in Ryohei's room. Forgoing the game, she decided to start reading the memos but was interrupted by her brother himself. It was the first time she had actually seen him... angry. He didn't yell or scream like a child normally would, which was the first sign of trouble. He just...

His wrapped hands clenched, and his eyes were shadowed. "Get. Out."

Hikaru stood up unsurely, clutching the memos to her chest. "R-Ryo-nii...?"

"Leave those alone, and get out."

She carefully set them on the floor, eyes darting between her brother and the memos cautiously. "I-I'm sorry, I accidentally knocked them over and got curious-"

"Just," he interrupted, rubbing the bridge of his nose. "Just leave."

She quickly made her way out of his room, just as Kyoko came bounding over happily. "I found you! You aren't very good at hide and seek, are-"

"Not right now, Kyo-chan." Hikaru lightly pushed her sister away, as she made her way downstairs to the park. Hopefully the fresh air would help clear her head, and help process what just happened.

Her smiled dimmed. She reached out a hand, as if to stop her older twin, eventually letting it drop and hang loosely by her side. "O-Okay, nee-chan."

By the time those words came out of her sibling's mouth, Hikaru was already out the door.

Hikaru was over on the bench, having completed the trek to Namimori Park. There were kids playing baseball, making sandcastles, and swinging on the swings. Oh, did she mention the bullies hurting a kid?

"I'll bite you to death."

"Run, it's Hibari-san!"

The little tormentors took off in a feeble attempt at escaping the famous Carnivore, and the child they were hurting slowly sat up, wincing at his injuries.

She hesitated in going over to make sure they were okay. The fluffy brown hair was an obvious sign of who this kid could be, after all.

But...

"Are you okay?"

A ball ended up deciding for her. Not that it hit her, though it did injure someone else.

"O-Ow..." Sawada Tsunayoshi, the person who would eventually become the leader of an extremely powerful mafia, was hit smack dab in the middle of his forehead with a baseball.

"Haha, sorry about that! We got too into the game, so..." Yamamoto Takeshi laughed awkwardly, scratching the side of his face as he trailed off.

Oh great, now there were two main characters roughly ten feet away. Her siblings didn't count, cause there was no way she would be able to avoid them as they lived with her. But these guys?!

So she did what she thought was best and got up from bench in an attempt to leave.

Then promptly tripped and fell flat on her face.

"Wow, what a fall!"

"Dude shut up! Look at her face though!"

She lifted her head up, as a hand was held out to her.

What met her gaze was the concerned faces of some of the future Vongola mafia. She sighed, dropping her head back onto the ground.

This did not go to plan. At all.

Finished! I hope you enjoyed, and please consider leaving a review! Thanks for reading!
