The Break Up
Don't own Teen Titans
"I'm breaking up with you," the green male said. Raven, of course, with her solemness didn't really react at first. Her eyes slowly narrowed at him, then she tilted her head.
"Why?"
"It's just... you need someone better for this... you know," Beast Boy said nervously. "Look, I know this is stupid of me to-"
"Why now?" Raven asked calmly, not really showing any sign of heartache.
"Because... I can't take it anymore!" Beast Boy exclaimed in frustration, "Do you know that it is impossible to be with you like this?! I can't do anything right."
"Beast Boy, it's a learning curve."
"Well, you know I flunked school."
"Now is not the time for joking," Raven sternly said. Garfield sighed.
"Right," He said, "But the point is that I can't keep doing this and pretend it's not affecting me. I just feel... trapped." Raven's eyes widened then. "No, no! Not like what you're thinking! It's just-"
"Why not just tell me?"
"Of course, why hadn't I thought of that? Oh! Maybe because it wouldn't change anything," Garfield remarked. Then he sighed as he calmed down. "It's just... I can't keep playing this game anymore. We go back and forth and no one gets anywhere."
"That's not true," Raven said sympathetically.
"It is! You're significantly better than me and... you deserve someone else," Garfield sighed. Raven walked up to him, gently gracing her hand on his face.
"And if I want you and no one else?" Raven proposed.
"Why?"
"Because I love you, Beast Boy. Not anyone else." Raven said, giving him a small smile. "Sure, your... character is very wild and unpredictable at times, but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate it." Beast Boy nervously smiled, but then frowned.
"Thanks, Rae. But... that's not the only reason why I'm breaking up with you."
"What wrong?" Raven asked, tilting her head.
"I've been... cheating," Garfield sighed. That caused Raven to step back in shock. The green changeling was bracing for the impact of her slap.
"Why?" She simply asked.
"It's just that I got so frustrated that... I couldn't take it anymore," Beast Boy sighed. "I understand if you-"
"For how long?"
"Huh?"
"For how long?" Raven asked slowly. Garfield rubbed the back of his head nervously.
"For about five months after we started," Beast Boy struggled to say. "Listen, I understand if you never want to see-" He was cut short when Raven grabbed him by the collar, pulled him down a bit and kissed him.
"I forgive you."
"What?!" He exclaimed, shaking himself loose from her. "How? Why? Aren't you hurt?"
"A little, more so because you didn't simply just tell me. But I forgive you. I know that I can be hard to deal with and-"
"Raven, it wasn't that," Garfield said, gently grabbing her hands. "You are amazing. I just thought that you would want someone else to have with you."
"But I like you," Raven emphasized, hugging him tightly. Beast Boy hugged back.
"I thought you would be angry."
"Just a little surprised. Of course, with how you are, I suspected as much."
"Oh! So you're saying I would never actually win?" Beast Boy smirked. Raven gave a sarcastic grin. "Okay, okay, you're right. I'm sorry."
"It's alright. Maybe I could teach you some tricks so you won't have to cheat. Or you could just rely on your unpredictability to beat me, my... chess buddy."
"HA! You finally like the name!"
"Don't push it," Raven grunted. "So one more game, now that we aren't breaking up as chess buddies?"
"Yes, and I promise I won't cheat," Garfield promised.
