Attack on Titan
The Warning
A/N: This is part of my Hope from the Sky story, but simply deals with how an enemy is told of an unthinkable shift in the balance of power, but refuses to admit defeat.
Sitting atop Wall Maria, Zeke Yeager had finished drinking his beverage when he detected that he wasn't alone atop the wall any longer. Turning to face his unexpected guest, he saw a dark-skinned stranger dressed in uniform worn by the people that lived within the Walls, looking down at the ruins of Shiganshina.
"They're coming back for it, you should know," he uttered as Zeke stood up. "Leave while you still can. It won't end well for you if you stay. Believe it."
"Who are you?" Zeke asked him.
"I'm nobody I need to be…and everybody I can be," the man spoke cryptically. "I've seen this outcome several times, and the more it changes, the more it stays the same in terms of its results. Wall Maria gets reclaimed and the enemy against the people of Paradis will suffer defeat. I'm not going to force you to give up, as you're going to keep doing what you do, anyway. I'm just here right now to give you a message. Give up and live while you still can. Persist…and you will suffer in a way you can't hope to fathom."
"Message delivered, received…and ignored," Zeke told him, and the dark man looked at him.
"It's your choice," he responded. "You won't win against them. Not anymore. They have a new ally on their side, and they will reclaim this wall. And before you know it, they will have gained another ally with power far greater than theirs or Marley's. And truth be told, I'm rooting for the Eldians of Paradis to take back their place in the world. The world you live in is just full of contempt and despair. But there is another world beside it, beneath it, above it. There is a world of freedom and acceptance, of real peace and hope. You wanna save the people you fight against? Heh, you better believe in hope, in the ability to defy fate and change your destiny. Those on this island have, will, and will do so again. If you hope to survive, that is. But as I've said before, I'm just delivering a message. It's up to you whether or not to take it serious. Good luck to you in the days to come."
Then, before Zeke could transform or tackle the man to the ground, the man walked backwards and fell off the edge of the wall.
Zeke looked down…but the man was gone.
"It won't end well for you if you stay," the man's voice echoed in his mind.
Suddenly, he felt the ground shaking and turned back to Shiganshina, seeing several Titans entering through the breach made by the Armored Titan five years ago…and advancing towards the breach the Colossal Titan made that same day.
I'd better keep a safe distance for now, he thought, taking out his knife to cut himself.
A/N: Suppose that when something terrible did happen to change the situation in favor of the good guys, someone simply delivers a message to one of the enemies and warns them that they will lose if they persist? What do you do? What do you do?
