Author's Note: Going way, way back to week three of this challenge – which was last year –the three prompts to choose from were 'ice', 'lemons', or 'I just didn't expect that!'. I chose the third option. Set during 'Children of the Gods'.

"Sir, is everything okay?"

Jack looked up to see Captain Samantha Carter watching him with part amusement, part concern as he retook his seat at the briefing table.

Was it?

He couldn't help it; his gaze quickly, but involuntarily, traveled along Carter's body before he forced himself to focus on her eyes… only to discover that he was really, really starting to love the color blue.

"Huh."

Sam's lips twitched before Jack realized he'd spoken aloud.

"Everything's fine, captain," he lied as he gathered his files and returned her smile.

"I just didn't expect that," he added under his breath.
