I started this a couple of months back. For years I've had writer block, but for a little while writing was fun again. I don't know if I'll continue this, so let me know if you're interested!

Prologue:

She never wanted to go to this party in the first place. She doesn't do this; she doesn't lie to her parents. She is not this typical irresponsible teenager.

Her best friend is on the couch, squeezed between two boys feeling her up. Everyone at the party are way passed buzzed. A couple of arrogant jocks have already tried to grab her rear, get her to dance and so on.

The music thunders through the building, the smell of alcohol and sweat are foul enough. They've barely been here an hour, but Lily knows all too well parties will never be her thing. Ugh, why did she let herself be convinced?

A chain of yells drags her out of the daydreaming and self-loathing.

"We found something so rad!" two well-built boys yell, as they sprint into the room, pumping their fists in the air. Lily turns her head, doesn't resist the urge to roll her eyes.

The majority of people here are at least two years her senior - young college kids getting wasted every day of the week, instead of going to class.

"Max, Tom, everyone, you gotta come see this!" one of the previous sprinters into the room yell excitedly. Apparently the two boys making the sandwich of her best friend seem interested, all of the sudden.

"It's like a fucking force field!"

That sparks Lily's interest, as well. Finding out what ridiculous game they're playing, is better than standing here doing nothing.

"Come on!"

A hand touches Lily's shoulder, halting her.

"What the hell do you think it is?" the familiar voice of her best friend chimes softly into her ear. Unexpectedly her friend doesn't sound so drunk, was she pretending just for her friends? How much had they all had to drink, anyway?

"I don't know, but let's find out," she grabs her friend's hand, dragging her through the crowding following the small group.

It's not exactly a force field, more like that thing in Stephen King's book. The one she read last summer, what was it again?

"Don't touch it!" a voice yells from the small group around it. Everybody just stares, some holding their breath. It's almost as if it glows in the dark.

Dome - yeah, that was it. It's a dome. Lily frowns, the way it glows and by the structure, this must be some kind of energy.

"We should call the NYPD or something," she hears herself say, before it's too late.

"No way!" someone from the crowd yells.

"Is this friend you brought, Sarah? You didn't say she was so dull!" another person slurs and Lily bites the inside of her cheek.

Sarah meets her eyes, an eyebrow raised on her face. "Guys, it's probably just a prank, don't worry."

Lily watches as her friend scoffs and starts walking towards the dome.

"Are you going to touch it? Are you insane?" Lily says, as the calm disappears from her voice completely.

"Lil, relax," Sarah replies and Lily can't help it, and starts closing in on the dome, too.

"Don't do it," she utters and Sarah bursts out laughing, watches as her younger friend closes in on her too.

"DO IT! DO IT! DO IT!" the crowd starts yelling and Sarah puts her hand on the big glowing structure.

And for a minute nothing happens, everything heard and seen around the area, is yelling and cheering for Sarah.

Boom. Then nothing, just darkness.
